For those who serve him for help, for acer 6920 had a dark screen problem and automated random reboots, after changing the bios, thermal paste, try starting as a failure, format to factory, just wanted to throw it out the window. Thanks to alwaysafix I have not lost my computer or my money in for service. Thank you friend. Changing only 3.0 v battery has returned to normal life !!!!!

Thanks; really useful demo!! Had this same fault with a similar model Acer Extensa 5420. BIOS battery was fading causing intermittent boot fails. Although no real need to remove/ disconnect any hardware (just battery pack). With all screws removed the top front plastic cover can swing up just enough to carefully access/replace CR2032 coin battery.

Hi there , I have a Acer Aspire E15 , this has happened to me , I tried a hard reset with taking the battery out and holding the power button and then switching it on but that didn't work. I've been to and asked various technicians but they all say that it isn't the CMOS battery. They say it's impossible because I've only had the laptop for a year and a half ?

This is a very informative video! I have an Acer Travelmate 5530G with black screen. The two leds go on when powering up. The fan may or may not start depending upon if it i hot inside or not. No beeps, no sound from the HDD, nothing on the screen even when using a strong light in front of the display.
I have been thinking about the Bios having too low a voltage since it seems that more or less nothing really takes place.
Another observation is that without the battery attached just the laptop charger even less happens which would suggest that the internal power supply is malfunctioning. THe optical drive seems to do something but the sound is strange like it is very "tired".
My question is "how did you arrive at the conclusion that the Bios battery is bad"? Is there another video on arriving on that conclusion?

Hi,, my acer aspire one netbook screen was changed and I didn't know if it was just dead screen or lcd and we changed it to a new one, but when I power it up, it will shut down in 3 sec., is their any problem in the motherboard?

My laptop has been reluctant to start up during the three last weeks. Today is not able to startup. I guess I will have to do the same that in this video. Can you confirm to me that I am having the same problem and so it requires the same solution?
I've got an Acer Extensa 4620Z sitting in front of me currently. The screen will not turn on, I have the charger plugged in to the wall and device for power. The green light comes on and stays on but doesn't blink like the one featured at the start of you video. I'm clueless as what it could be seeing as I'm not very tech savvy. If you have any ideas on what it may be or any feedback.
The second battery keeps your time and bios settings, when the bigger battery runs flat or is removed.

i have a sony vaio purchased in dec, 2006. it no longer starts and screen is black, i have tried new ram but futile. when i turn on the power light turns on green but screen remains black, also verified its not a display issue, do you think cmos battery is likely cause in my case ?

I have acer 5552g with same problem when i power on , only power light blinks no hdd nor wireless blinks.
My cmos battery is not replaceable like yours , its together with mainboard. If i see service to replace it will it work for me too?

+alwaysafix i had replaced inverter, monitor, cable, and CMOS battery.
The problem that i discover is the voltage that determines the brightness is 0V and dont change. That voltage shoud be on 0~5V range. Do you now how to discover where is the problem on mainboard?
+Angelo Freitas Try replacing the cable to the inverter. If this doesn't work it's your motherboard.
+alwaysafix i replace the cable to the inverter and the problem isnt solved. So a mesured the input voltage of the inverter. The voltage that controls the backlight is 0. So a solved the problem soldering other entry that as 3.3V to that. This is a fix for anyone that needs to solve the problem without replacing motherboard...

When my laptop turns off and I try to turn on the screen is black but if I try 2 3 4 5 times it starts working or if I connect it with hdmi cable with external display the laptop works but the screen is in black what should I do ?

I have an acer v5-571p-6815, it's a touchscreen. My screen has no physical damage and it powers on just fine but, I took a slip on some ice during the winter and at first half the screen worked while the other half would go fuzzy. The touch screen still works perfectly but, now my screen has gone black with the exception of some colored lines. It seems like some wiring might have gotten knocked loose. Wondering if you had any ideas.
It could be a loose cable, but it could also be a faulty lcd. The only way is to disassemble it and try reseat the cables. Good luck.

Bluetooth does not work on my computer Extensa 5635Z
I have an Acer lap top when i start it give me orange and red colors i try refresh its memory card and it gives me one beep i know i install it in wrong position i install it again in first slot and finally the lap top gives me sound when i start it on or shut it down. .
please can you guess the problem? notice it start on without beep sound but no pictures on the screen at all only strips colored lines vertical most time and horizontal lines rarely and sometimes blue screen

Mine is an ACER E1-571 and was lightly dropped (I was told) no external damage whatsoever.
The power indicators (button and front) come on for approx 5 seconds then off. NOTHING on the screen. HD spins but likely bad as I connected it to a usb. I have re-seat the DDR. Remove Batt. & Cord 1 min reset ;) Look like I'll have to open it?

Great video. Looking for a solution for my acer aspire 7520. Power lights come on when plugging in the adapter. When powered on I hear the CPU fan spinning and HDD, ODD starting up, but I see nothing on the screen. The laptop continuously restarts after 5 seconds. Fails to boot. My battery is soldered onto the motherboard and I have the tools. Could that be the solution or is it CPU maybe?
Before you unsolder the battery, use a multi meter to check the voltage. It should be 3v. Have you tried removing the RAM and starting with one stick at at time? Good luck!
The only reason I can see to make that battery inaccessible, is to protect the Bios set passwords.

If you don't see any lights on at all, the first thing to check is the charger with a multi meter and get back to me.

Acer TravelMate 5530 after switching on dark the screen.
Only lightning the power LED and charge LED . A couple of seconds to spin up the cooler.
No whistle. Memory and HDD I check, LCD Inverter OK, I changed the battery, but it was okay. Charger OK. External monitor does not display.
As if it does not start the BIOS boot, I tried to flash the BIOS, but now does not work either. Maybe I did wrong? FN + ESC + Power + ESC or WIN +ESC+ Power start computer?

From what you have told me it sounds like you have a motherboard issue. You need to take it in to service and have diagnostics done to confirm my suspicion. Good luck!

help me not working and the hp laptop 430 not working black screen
under keyboard there are two pins. if the keyboard comes lose or is not set properly, it wont make contact or post boot. i took my system apart. checked the voltage on cmos seen it was fine, but when i put it all back i noticed these switches. i cleaned them and now all is good once i clipped the keyboard back in

Will this solve this problem: when i turn my laptop on the blue light comes on and it automatically turns off and on the whole time the only thing i can do is hold the power button and it goes off.

I've never understood why the battery would stop a laptop from running. I do a lot of laptop repair and i've seen this happen in most cases where people think they have a blown motherboard and its just the battery.
I find this suspicious myself. I wonder how many times people have replaced their laptop just because of a flat battery.
Hi . " , , i have an Acer 5750 just changed the keyboard , then i get this problem, so when i Push the power bottom its blink for few second and it turn off quickly ! Hi,while watching a movie my acer 5680 had crashed then it displays white screen with red/blue vertical lines.when i used an pc lcd monitor, it works but there's a green vertical lines covering the screen. I decided to upgrade from vista to win7 but after it was been replaced, still using the pc monitor, it will no longer boot.it only displays a black screen with blinking cursor line at the upper leftmost corner. could you help me figure out what really the problem is?since using other monitor, the display is not good before.Thanks!
Renante Gaite It's your graphics card. If it's onboard you need to look at it getting reballed. Good luck!

I've also tried:
1) changing a ram module
2) connecting the laptop to external vga monitor
3) changing thermal glue
4) upgrading firmware with crisis recovery usb (it seems that neither Fn+esc, Start+B,Fn+B worked for me).
Laptop is Acer 5542g.

I have the same problem now. But its not the battery problem. Basically i had to dissasemble the whole notebook because it was overheating badly. After assembly no display. I followed every step including discharging static. Still no display. Seems to be prevalent problem in Acer computers.

hello there, an acer laptop buggered up. after pressing the power button it turns on (u can hear the processor running) within 2-3 second it turns off by itself with a little squeak sound; restarts again by itself and then turn off again with a squeak and this keeps going on. can the procedure shown in video fix that up????
When it switches on, does it show anything on the screen?
thanks for replying, no it does not show anything. It turns on, within 3 sec. a squeaky type noise turns of again, retart by itself again a squeak and so on ,by itself
I have local brand laptop. My problem if I turned on my laptop. Hdd work, fan work, windows started succesfully, external monitor work with no problem. But the laptop lcd black screen, no light at all.

No, you have a different problem either related to your screen or the graphics card. Does the back light come on?

I have an Acer Aspire V5-561G-6894. It was stuck on the Acer screen, so I powered off. Now when I try to start it, it's just a black screen, the computer tries to boot up, then shuts down. Is this the fix for that? Or something else? I really don't want to dissect my laptop, but if that's what it takes. It's a brand new computer, just two weeks old.

I have the same issue - black screen, nothing happens. If the light for the HDD doesn't flash, can I be sure, that the problem is the HDD?
If not - any recommendations how to troubleshoot?
DJpreskoboy The HDD is not required to start the computer. You can remove it and try reseating the RAM first. Good luck!

I put the charger in and press the power button , the power light came on but nothing shows up on the screen and i don't feel the fan spinning . The backlight is not working, but can you see an image if you shine a flash light onto it? Does it work with an external monitor?
I still have the same problem on an Acer 5552. Operates but black screen.
The 1st time what I did, was to flash the BIOS with the Fn + ESC and a USB with the new bios from Acer. Everything came back to life after 4-5 tries.
But a month later the problem showed up again after the lapton was sitting for a week non operating.
I installed a new bios battery thinking that I havent changed the old one.
Flashed many times till achieving a restart and live the Pc again. This time I couldnt do it with a USB so I used a DVD with the new rom from Acer. Fn+ESC again.
After that I tested 2-3 times to boot. Everything ok.
I placed the Big Battery and let it charge. Next moring tryed to boot same problem again. Black screen of death.
I try to flash again and no result for 2-3 hours. I will continue trying..... But now I have made these thoughts...
1) Since the big battery is really old I am starting to think that maybe this is the cause of Bios corruption.
2) Maybe it is not the BIOS. I have checked the 2 memories (2GB and 1gb) . But nothing to do. I will check them more with a memory test program when I am able to boot again.
3) The graphics card wont be the problem since I managed to reboot 2 times after the screen of death. A dead graphics card is dead....U cant boot and see.
4) I have heard that when a USB is short-circuit can cause this problem too. But even that cant be the case since I have booted 2 times allready. A short cicuit is permanent.
5) Since my desktop can corrupt a bios when the power button stucks on boot I am also thinkg of a not good power button on the Acer. I even think it more since the 2 times I managed to reboot I did it in a bit a strange way. That is I pressed the button to boot - released short and pressed again....Otherwise no succeded boot.
Anyway strange story. Have any thougts to add? Thanks

My aspire 4763z is not working. if i plug the charger, there is no light appearing. when i turned it on. nothing happens. I also tried removing the battery and hold the power button for few seconds. then plug in the charger to the laptop and turned it on. nothing happend. What should I do? Should I bring it to the service centers?
Firstly you need to check your charger with a multi meter and make sure it's working. Good luck!
