Well …. they speak Norwegian so I probably wouldn’t understand a word of it! Although I must admit the people I spoke to there - particularly one lovely guy at the airport - did speak excellent English.
Every time you release a new video, I watch it while on my lunch break at work. It always makes my day. It’s amazing how you’re bringing your dream of a life to people at all corners of the globe. Please don’t ever stop publishing your content. That 2 weeks of absence had a lot of us quite worried. We are so glad to hear that you’re recovering from COVID, though. Can’t wait for the next video!

Same here! I had been hoping to take a cruise to Iceland/Greenland this year, but then I saw that Norwegian Cruise Line is adding an itinerary for 2023 that includes Svalbard. We are saving our money now.
It's amazing being able to see how people live even in the northernmost town in the world. Svalbard seems like an incredibly beauitful place to live. I'm glad that I found your channel
Thank you for the memories, I mentioned here once that my husband and I won a trip to Svalbard through his company during a charity dinner event. It was absolutely magical, we stayed in Base Camp and had excursions by snowmobile to the northern most 'post office' on a small ship frozen in to the ice and a dog sled adventure too. I've walked along that high street and walked to the northern most church. We were in awe of the landscape around us. I've never forgotten landing around midnight and walking out to daylight! We certainly won't forget our trip and I love seeing it through your eyes.
I have been binge watching your videos. I feel so warm and cozy when I watch them and I always feel like drinking a cup of coffee. These videos encourage me to be the best that I can be and they allow me to live in hope, for all of my dreams. I live in the Caribbean but I would love to visit Svalbard. All because of you. Your positivity is very uplifting. Thanks for sharing your lovely life.
Your editing is fantastic. The music and the way your voice overs blend into the videos just makes so much sense. It's so easy and relaxing and inspiring to watch your videos. Thank you for the video.
I went to Svalbard last month and really had the best time of my life with all the excursions I've made, especially in snowmobile. And the landscape with the snow? Wow, beautiful! The only regret I have is that I wasn't able to see any northern lights because it was so cloudy and snowing at night. But still I had a blast!
Love your coverage and it looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing your home with all of us. Amazing that you matched your nails and hat! A fashionista also, you have to be the one woman that ABSOLUTELY loves the cold....not sure I could do it! However, I do want to come and experience the darkness
Love the crunch of the snow as you and Grim step out of the cabin 🧡 Longyearbyen is so beautiful, i really enjoyed being a virtual tourist with you, Chris and Grim, love that colour on your nails! I would love to visit an ice cave, so many great tips, thank you xxx
Thanks for sharing your life with all of us! look forward to your videos. Longyearbyen is definitely on my bucket list. Very informative video. You are the best Cecilia, Chris and Grimm too! 💕
Watching your videos always makes my day. Have been following you since when you only had around 5k followers and still in love with all of your videos. Thank you so much Cecelia for your amazing videos 😊👍🏻
I would be really interested to hear you talk about sustainability on Svalbard. You obviously have to use a lot of energy to heat your home and on shipping from the mainland. How do you feel about your energy consumption and how easy is it to live sustainably on Svalbard (eg shopping second hand, recycling, renewable energy etc)? Glad to have your videos back and hope you're recovered from covid now 💜
@@pootangy5097 yup exactly, it's incredible unsustainable and unrealistic. And isn't funny how there are only about 20 houses on the island? Rich mommy and daddy.
We love your vlogs Cecelia and Christopher, thank you so much for taking us on the tour of your town! The food looks to die for! Your vids are so homely you just make everyone feel great with your content! And Grim? He is just the icing on the cake. Xx
Another outstanding and informative video. Lots of useful information for people looking to visit. The only thing I would add, most excursions are booked months in advance. My wife and I visited in 2019 and booked an east cost snow mobile trip well in advance of our trip. So the morning of the trip the tour operator said yesterday they went to the east coast and the ice conditions were not good. He recommended going to a glacier instead. In short the excursion you book might not be the one you take. Obviously the current weather conditions will be the deciding factor. My trip was not refundable which I totally understand. We still had a great trip and even saw a lone Polar Bear on the ice.
Hi! Latvian here - been living last 20 years in Ireland. Just found your channel and have been binge watching - its very good! Super calm vibes and just interesting content. Love your dogs and your house and the whole northern other-worldly wibe. Also Christopher seems like a warm blanket of a man :D
The place is so beautiful and relaxing. I have got addicted to watching your video. I have started watching your videos since last week and I have been watching at least one or two videos a day.
I would love to see a cabin trip from beginning to end, e.g. how you get a cabin (you mentioned a lottery?), how far in advance do you book, how do you know which route to take on your snowmobile, how do you know what to pack (e.g. I saw you light a gas stove with a match, how do you know you need matches?), what do you need to bring to a cabin that you wouldn't normally bring for travel (bedding, firewood, extra lights, etc.), what do you do to close the cabin (clean, lock, take your food and bathroom waste, etc), how are cabins locked (do you get a key before you leave?), are all the cabins pretty much the same, who manages the cabins? Loved today's video, and would love to see a walking tour of the village with a map or even a driving tour with a map. TY!
Cecelia could I suggest that when you show the cost of items in Svalbard that you let them remain a bit longer on the screen since you show 3 different currencies. By the time I find $, the prices have disappeared. I love all your videos!
Only a few towns or villages have the feel ,, you know 😉 the warm cozy feeling vibe. I feel at peace watching your videos of where life happens ! Such a beautiful winter wonderland and I’d love this village to call home.
Myself and my 4 year old daughter love watching your videos from the north east of Scotland before bed we love seeing the scenery, we never got much snow this year! We did see a bit of the northern lights a couple months ago which was magical! X
Loved the premise of this video. Makes me want to visit Svalbard and even allowed me to see the financial possibility. Glad you're feeling better Cecelia. Great vlog as always.
Svalbard is definetly on my list of countries to visit especially is the far north, thank you for the footages I always enjoy them and it puts me at ease
Would love to see a video on the world’s most northerly brewery! 🍺 Also, as others have said, interviews with locals about how they came to be in Svalbard would be really interesting, especially from a variety of countries 👍
Definitely agree on Funken Lodge as a hotel option. The restaurant and bar - as you mentioned - are very good. I had Xmas dinner there. It was excellent! I also liked the Radisson Blu - probably a slight step down from Funken, but still very good. I know you mentioned several cafes and restaurants in the village/town ... another very good, treat, option is Huset Restaurant - a short walk outside - the food is amazing!!! Ice cave trek absolutely worth it ... walking on the glacier in -25C and then climb down into the ice cave -5C. Snowmobile to Northern Lights and also dogsled are definitely "must-do". The supermarket in town is excellent. I would definitely go back to Longyearbyen. I was there in December (2021) while there were more Covid restrictions, but I didn't find them overly intrusive. Best advice is to dress warmly and properly - do not underestimate being outside in very cold weather for any length of time: wear layers and make sure you have a very good coat/jacket and gloves.
I always thought of having "Tourist Day" in my small town. Dress up in your best tourist fashion, add appropriate hat and sunglasses, and become a visitor in you own home town. Visit all the local attractions with the eyes of an outsider and experience the wonder that a new attitude can provide. I have often been surprised to hear people from larger cities praise my little town and I realize they are right. I probably wouldn't want to live in their cities, but they wish they could live in a place like my little town.

Hi Cecilia! Would you ever consider taking one or two of the tourist tours to give your viewers an idea of what to expect? I know they're expensive, but would love to see one from you! (I'm sure there are a bunch already on UA-cam, but I really love your content & style)
I loved the ideas you gave us and the beautiful footage. You're so excited to show us the things you think are beautiful and that makes them even more beautiful to me. I'm physically disabled, so probably never will be able to do the things you take us along to do. Thank you so much for sharing your part of the world. Lots of love from Dallas Texas (where almost everything is handicapped accessible) - Hey, that gave me an idea... How accessible is Svalbard?
Thank you so much for your videos! Me and my boyfriend will be coming to Svalbard Apr/May 2023, it was his 30th birthday gift that kept getting pushed back but now we have finally booked it! Really appreciate your recommendations! Can't wait to see this beautiful place! The sense of adventure in the cold we both have after meeting in Northern Scotland, a French and English couple, who then lived long distance between Canada and Sweden! We finally live together in France but miss the cold adventures, looking forward to cold dips if you have any recommendations of where it is safe to do this as we will be staying in Longyearbyen and travelling out with guides only! Thanks again, love your content!
I was introduced to the concept of "turist i egen by (Tourist in your own town)" by also Norwegians (Hamar area) and I was born and raised in Southwest Germany and have since then discovered so much new stuff in my hometown that I felt a bit embarrassed that I didn't know these things before. So do yourself a favor if you have the chance, get on a couple of guided tours, pickup a tourist guide from your area and maybe with your SO have a fun weekend.
Really enjoyed the video Cecilia! It looks like there are a lot of cool things to do and great places to eat and stay in Longyearbyen! I hope to be able to visit Svalbard someday!
Can't wait , will be strolling through Longyearbyen for 2-4 hours in May during transfer to a Spitsbergen expedition cruise. Always, enjoy your videos and getting to "know" the area. Wish we would have more time in Longyearbyen to do an ice cave, see the Seed Vault and do a coal mine tour, but alas it is what it is. Give Grim a hug and treat!
I love this type of video and also day in the life ones, so nice! I can feel as if I was there also. Amazing place, incredibly beautiful and I wish to visit it one day!!
Thank-you for sharing such beautiful scenery!! I’m compiling my list of places, to visit, in Norway and Sweden and your videos help with my list. Thanks.
This was an absolutely amazing video, i can tell all the hard work you put into it and all the careful considerations you made with budgets, tips, what to do. I adored this video and when I have enough money and vacation time cannot wait to travel here :)
Just love the videos in which you show us the village life. I feel as if I have been there shopping and enjoyed a beautiful lunch. Christopher's culinary talent is amazing! Would love to purchase a cookbook of his recipes and your photography married into the pages. Love your channel ❤
Once again, thanks for the video and your unique perspective on your community. I would particularly enjoy it if you did a longer segment on the ice caves.
Aah, I missed you Grimm....your cute fluffy face is so adorable it makes my day. Thank you for the interesting video, Svalbard is such a pretty town maybe one day I will visit.
Great video as always. I’ll be in Svalbard for a few days end of May before getting on a boat for a 10 day cruise adventure and can’t wait. I’ll be proudly wearing my Cecilia, Chris and Grim long sleeve t-shirt!! But will definitely have to go back in February as I love the cold and snow!
This is what I've been waiting for, when to go, when to book, things to do. I've been watching your videos through isolation down here in New Zealand and Svalbard is now definitely on the list when we head back up that way when the craziness ends. The "year in advance" is a big one so really good to know about that. My partner is adventurous but partially disabled and very noise sensitive, the snowmobile trip looks great but I think the noise of the engines would get to her. Do you have any information/tips about the dog sled trips? We're not adverse to "rural" accommodation despite other weaknesses. Awesome photography as usual :-)
Hi Cecilia, Christopher and Grim!!! I just love your blogs!!! What a fantastic place to live and work, it’s so picturesque and fresh looking. Christopher is like a quiet Viking and you can tell he is a man of a few words but has a lovely smile (and you so suite each other too). I have to laugh at you out on the patio in your PJ’s having coffee in -15 degrees (gosh you are brave!) Have you ever had to frighten off a polar bear? Does your town have many avalanches? (recall you said there were some houses affected by an avalanche not long ago). Your home looks gorgeous and cosy….keep the vids coming Cecilia, Christopher and dear Grim.
Maybe in the future episodes you can feature short interviews of locals about their unique stories on how they ended up moving to Svalbard.
Agreed
Well …. they speak Norwegian so I probably wouldn’t understand a word of it! Although I must admit the people I spoke to there - particularly one lovely guy at the airport - did speak excellent English.

Hi, after watching all your videos, today I am in Svalbard. Thanks for the motivation and appreciate your efforts.
Would absolutely love to visit beautiful Svalbard one day. I think I could just sit and look at that scenery all day. ❤️
Really enjoyed the video Cecilia! It looks like there are a lot of cool things to do and great places to eat and stay in Longyearbyen! I hope to be able to visit Svalbard someday!
Watching your videos just takes me to heaven in earth!
So beautiful. I love seeing how other people live in the world. I would love to visit there one day. Hello from Maryland! (USA)
Beautiful, well edited videos by a magical lady living in a magical place!!
Thanks.
I love watching your videos at night ~ great way to unwind after the day!! 👱♀️🌈🦋
Love Longyearbyen Thanks to you’ve ilia. I heard about it before but never knew what it looked like. It’s beautiful
Lovely video cecilia! Keep ut the good work! :-)
Just love your positive personality.
Great content ☘️😘
Perfect video I needed to see I’m heading there in January of next year. Cannot wait 😍
You are the perfect tour guide , thank for a day out in Longyearbyen !!!!
Thank youuu!
Aah, I missed you Grimm....your cute fluffy face is so adorable it makes my day. Thank you for the interesting video, Svalbard is such a pretty town maybe one day I will visit.
Grim will be back in the next one 😍
Great video as always. I’ll be in Svalbard for a few days end of May before getting on a boat for a 10 day cruise adventure and can’t wait. I’ll be proudly wearing my Cecilia, Chris and Grim long sleeve t-shirt!! But will definitely have to go back in February as I love the cold and snow!
I really enjoyed this video. You are so happy and pleasant.
You are so kind! 💙
This is so enjoyable, thank you both! Through your videos I have come to desire visiting there.
Thank you for watching! 😃
I'm obsessed with those tiny polar bear chocolates. 😍 Going straight to get one the day I finally get to visit Longyearbyen.
😍😍😍
Hi Cecilia, Christopher and Grim!!! I just love your blogs!!! What a fantastic place to live and work, it’s so picturesque and fresh looking.
Christopher is like a quiet Viking and you can tell he is a man of a few words but has a lovely smile (and you so suite each other too).
I have to laugh at you out on the patio in your PJ’s having coffee in -15 degrees (gosh you are brave!)
Have you ever had to frighten off a polar bear? Does your town have many avalanches? (recall you said there were some houses affected by an avalanche not long ago).
Your home looks gorgeous and cosy….keep the vids coming Cecilia, Christopher and dear Grim.
