@@thequant2817 it can get incredibly cold. The winters can get down to negative degrees farenheit with the windchill. The air gets really dry in the winter but can be very humid in the summer lol. in 2019 we had a polar vortex event and temps dropped to -23 degrees farenheit.
I am in Northern Illinois as well. And while it can be frigid in the midst of winter I have come to enjoy the cold weather much more than the hot summers. I was just thinking today how much more I enjoy my chores on my little farm at this time of year. The early sunsets don’t bother me much either. We find ways to make life more cozy. Fires, candles, warm drinks are essential. I remember my grandmother, who was born and raised in Harstad, would shake her head when people complained of the “short” days. I love your videos. They are so peaceful and stunning visually. It also, in some, ways connects me to my heritage. I love hearing the Norwegian and other Scandinavian languages. I know it's time to settle into a cozy autumn/ winter when your polar night videos are happening. Got my new candles, cozy throw blanket, and new pj's all ready!
Your videos have such a calming effect on me. I used to watch this Alaska vlogger years ago and I missed the cold weather arctic/subarctic climate youtubers until I discovered you a year ago. Please never change your style of vlogging.
Cecilia I have been following you for ages, absolutely love when you mention Ireland, as I'm Irish. I can see why you love it on Svalbard, it's beautiful and peaceful.
Wow, I almost started crying when you were describing the peacefulness of this time of year for you! - I'm currently living in a big city for school and I'm super out of my element, it reaches a deep place in my heart when I watch your videos and hear you talking about your experiences being in a natural space that you love so much. I look forward to every upload, and to the day I find my own magical place on this beautiful planet
Cecilia, your gorgeous footage of Svalbard shows a pristine, wild and heartbreakingly beautiful part of the world. It feels like a love letter to the earth. I just came back from a week in Svalbard and I have to say, it is just as magical as you think it is. These videos are my way to relax and I smile with every one. There is no place on earth that is so gorgeous and peaceful. It’s a place everyone should visit in their lives, to see how important it is that we save our planet.

More power to everyone who can live where you live. I moved to Ontario, Canada from California and I couldn't even handle the winters and lack of sun. Super depressing for me. I used those spikey things on my boots too. They were so helpful on ice.
Some of us in Central New York State (especially near Lake Ontario) complain about the snow and lack of sun here, but you put us all to shame with your enthusiasm! Love your videos!
I’m so glad UA-cam recommended you! I asked my Norwegian boss about the island and he knew and his brother even lived there. Now I kind of want to come there.

Hi Cecilia!!! Hello from Uruguay 🇺🇾!! I’ve been following your channel for a while and this series about the polar night and nature is amazing…so different from my reality in this part of the world. I just want to say that your kindness and gratitude in your videos are beautiful. I love it!! We will keep watching it from so far, until we have the opportunity to visit this BEAUTIFUL land! ❤️❤️
I’m from Portugal and Svalbard is on my list to visit and I’ve been dreaming of living there but as you’ve mentioned for our economical situation it’s absurd. We’re having tons of housing problems here and the wages/tax issues make one cry. It’s unbearable at this point… if I could leave, it would have been yesterday. Keep the videos rolling, I love to watch them! Cheers 👋🏻
Same here in the states. Housing prices have skyrocketed & rent is out of control. A one bedroom apartment that was $700 6-7 years ago is now close to $2,000. Our homeless crisis (I’m in Portland, OR) is also out of control. I think it is a worldwide issue exasperated by Covid. Sad.
These may be a dumb questions but here it goes anyway . . . How do you power and heat your home? I live in southeast USA and we truly experience all 4 seasons so it doesn’t get bitterly cold or blazing hot for long periods of time. Thank you for letting us see how you live in an area that most of us will never get to see in person. ❤️
Oh my goodness! I have just discovered your channel and can’t stop watching! When I was little, we moved to Alaska while my dad was working on the oil pipeline in the Arctic Circle. Your videos are bringing back the nostalgia of the snow, mountains, and the dark winter months. Living in Alaska is about survival, especially in the winter. Your videos have show that as well. I would love to visit, and if I didn’t have a family, I’d definitely move there!
I love your videos! I’m from Florida but live in New Jersey and struggle with the winters and less light. Watching your videos helps me out in finding perspective and see the good in it. Love your passion and as cool as it is that you have had many types of jobs there I’m so glad your current job is making these UA-cam videos. Thank you as always for sharing Cecilia. Love what you said "i"m very content and in a state of peaceful happiness. Making sure to bottle this feeling and to reach for this feeling when i need to, if things start to weigh me down" Simply poetic but so real and true. That for me says a lot how to handle anxiety at times. Appreciate the small things and find beauty in everything, regardless where we are. Simple joy brings hope and inner peace ❤ Keep it up and will be looking forward for your videos, really one of the best content in UA-cam, so raw and lots to learn and experience even by watching. Cheers!
I love your videos, Cecilia! I live in Gainesville, Florida, and find our grey, sunless winter days quite depressing, but I can see you have to endure way worse winter weather! I feel that if you can do it, cope with it, so should I. Last night I bought “Stoner” by John Williams on Kindle, and am very grateful you recommended it. What a great book!
I really enjoy watching your videos . Your positivity and creativeness , while showing us an inside view , in living in one of the most extreme places on earth is an inspiration… I’d love too visit this place one day

Reminds me of my childhood with my grandparents. Bless you and Christopher for sharing your lives with us❤
Also Northern Illinois by the Wisconsin border. I am trying to adopt her positivity to make the most of the cold months here.
This is my second polar night with you! I discovered your channel last year when I was super pregnant, scrolling through youtube to calm my anxiety and came across your channel. I became obsessed with it! My sweet baby is turning 1 years old next week. Thank you for helping me through the sleepless nights!
I am so in awe of the beauty and serenity of the north country I just adore you, Christopher and Grim!❤
Thanks for your beautiful content...you relieve my anxiety
It’s so cool to see that polar night craziness through your lense 🤩 I’m happy I don’t have to look out for polar bears though 😅
I know it's time to settle into a cozy autumn/ winter when your polar night videos are happening. Got my new candles, cozy throw blanket, and new pj's all ready!
New subscriber here, I just love love love your videos, thanks for sharing your life with us!! The scenery is so beautiful and peaceful ❤
I would have never thought a place so cold, and so dark, could be so absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I can seriously listen to you all day. Your voice and the way you speak reminds me of a good chill book by the fire. Love!
Wow, thank you! 😃🧡🧡🧡
This channel is like a vacation from reality. Stress just freezes away 🙏🏼😁🫶🏼
Lol
Wow, I almost started crying when you were describing the peacefulness of this time of year for you! - I'm currently living in a big city for school and I'm super out of my element, it reaches a deep place in my heart when I watch your videos and hear you talking about your experiences being in a natural space that you love so much. I look forward to every upload, and to the day I find my own magical place on this beautiful planet
Cecilia, your gorgeous footage of Svalbard shows a pristine, wild and heartbreakingly beautiful part of the world. It feels like a love letter to the earth. Thank you so very much for bringing a part of our planet I would never have known about if not for you. Greetings from summery Australia (well not quite, we're experiencing more very wet and cool conditions for this time of year).
Γεια σου Σοφία 🙂 Από Ελλάδα κ εγώ, παρακολουθούμε Cecilia and her family, awesome content!
The people of the north are just so frickin good in videography stuff and storytelling. Like that's just so amazing 🥺
I love how you wash Grim in the shower and he's able to shake in there. That looks like the perfect set-up for bathing a dog, especially a double-coated northern breed. I saw you do this in a previous video, and thought this was genius. :)
One of the new subscribers here, from Perth, Western Australia. Now, I am like having a netflix series, going to every single vlog you have. I am looking forward to new ones too! I am in a hype! I love the cozy nights too! 😍
I just came back from a week in Svalbard and I have to say, it is just as magical as you think it is. These videos are my way to relax and I smile with every one. There is no place on earth that is so gorgeous and peaceful. It’s a place everyone should visit in their lives, to see how important it is that we save our planet.
Ohh I am so glad to hear that you loved your week here! 😍🧡 Thank you so much for the lovely words!
what hotel did you stay in may I ask? and was it expensive? HOw much is the flight from Norway to Svalbard?
@@minnie5121 We stayed at the Svalbard Hotell Polarfareren! It was perfect, in the middle of the "mall" near lots of shops and restaurants, cozy rooms and a great free breakfast! We got upgraded from The Vault to this one, but we paid $742 USD for 5 nights, booked in Jan 22. If you go during the summer it is much more expensive! We flew on Norwegian Air and our round trip from Oslo was about $350 USD pp. Definitely not too expensive!
Post script: Grim is absolutely lovely and seems soooo well behaved!!!! And it is very beautiful where you are. Very pleased i found your channel!😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for taking us on your walk with Grim, you are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Your videos are always my little piece of calm on a Sunday afternoon 👍😊
Totally agree with you Margaret
love love love your positive spirit and enthusiasm for all things Svalbard ... thank you
More power to everyone who can live where you live.
That crispy snow sound is so calming to me! Thanks for sharing your life! Us simple mortals would never be able to explore that part of the world. Thank you sooo sooo much 🖤
Why not go there? 😊
@@suzannedelgado4542 money sadly doesn't grow on trees
Seeing Grim just having so much fun living and exploring makes me so happy. Glad you enjoy your life and give Grim a hug from me.
the cinematography is next level!
Great video! Enjoy the polar night, and thank you for the beautiful content!
Thank you so so much!
This is magical to watch, thank you Cecilia! I grew up in the northern climate of Minnesota, now living in the warm South. Missing the winter quiet of snow falling, the crunch of snow, your videos bring gladness to my heart💕💕💕
Cecilia+the coffee+Svalbard makes me so cozy somehow 🎉😂
I WAIT for your posts to show up in my UA-cam stream. I had to laugh today because my husband is from Ireland, and your Irish accent came out just TALKING about Ireland (it's the same thing for him :) ) Thank you so much for opening my heart and mind to this lovely corner of the world! All my best to you and yours.
I love this video! I'm in high school and I'm going on an exchange to arctic Norway next year to help me learn Norwegian, and my goal is to someday move to Svalbard. Great content! (: 💗from US
Thank you for sharing this with us. Without videos like these I probably wouldn't see such amazing views. It really does look like a winter wonderland...
Thank you for showing us a different, almost unknown part of the world. Your appreciation for the beauty of nature makes me smile. I feel the same way about where I live in Northern California. Especially now, with the trees finally changing colors. I thank God for creating such a beautiful world.
Hugs to you, Cecilia! ❤
Such a beautiful, calming video. Love watching you and Grim exploring the landscape. ❤️❤️
You have so quickly become my absolute favorite UA-camr! Your content is so happy and calming and I’ve always had a fascination with cold cold weather and could absolutely see myself living in a place like Svalbard. 🥰
Okay! I am obsessed with your channel! Your house is so cool! I am American and just leaned about the Polar Night and Hygee and I LOVE THIS! We still have daylight but it is short and very cold in the northern states. I am so excited to celebrate coziness this winter!
Sweet Sweet Pup!!!!!! Thank you for loving Him as you do!
Congratulations on your interview with Rolling Stone interview! Your videos are beautifully cinematic. Also, I like that Christoffer occasionally replies to people’s questions in the comments - it’s nice to hear his opinion. Visiting Svalbard to experience an aurora is on my bucket list! Much love from New Zealand ❤
Is that why her sub count jumped? I was wondering what happened.
This video feels like a cozy chit chat between friends🥰
It's dark and rainy here in Québec , rained almost every day. I've been struggling to find my mojo back and do things, it feels like a mini polar night setting down on us, especially since we changed the time last weekend. I'm just relaxing and hanging out "in Svalbard" with Cecilia, Grim & Cristoffer until i get the motivation back up .... much love from Canada. 🇨🇦
I don’t think I would get anything done during the Polar Night. I love the cozy vibe & I would probably light all of my candles & stay in my pajamas all day, curled up on the couch with Grim. It would take a lot of self-discipline to be productive for me. I also worked in the hotel industry for many years & I absolutely loved it! I have so much respect for you & Christoffer & I absolutely love Grim. Thank you for sharing, Cecilia. I always look forward to your video on Sunday.❤
Please don't ever change! You're amazing and so are your videos 🤗 thank you for your content and being you (down to earth) and sharing your life, family, friends, grim, and of course svalbard 🥰🙃
I like how patient you about answering questions you’ve answered a million times before. I’ve been watching your content for over a year and I always learn something new. I’ve never wanted to visit such a remote destination until coming across you and Grim on TikTok. 😁
I think it's amazing to be lying down, ready to sleep and find this video, (I recently followed the instagram account but I didn't know there was youtube) and to think how much this video relaxes my soul and makes me want to live a life like this and think "would I be able to go?" "what a dream" being me from Portugal and then you talk about Portugal, what a coincidence!!! Beautiful videos, congratulations! 💗🌌✨
This video was beautiful to watch. The landscape is like a dream. The music is also so peaceful & soothing, thank you for that. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow ,what a life story , he's a lucky man. Both Christopher and grim. As a matter of fact all of us that watch your channel love you. Thanks for taking the time to make this happen for us to watch. Yours truly Ed Parkhurst.
I joined the family today and I’m not leaving anytime soon. Thank God you stayed, the result of that decision is about to impact many lives around the world. Much love from 🇬🇭
This is at least the second polar night I’ve spent with you (from the Northwest corner of USA) and I just love how much you enjoy every season of Svalbard and get so excited. It really does seem like a magical place!
I’m a piano tuner, I don’t think I’d be able to make a living at that on Svalbard.
My 3rd polar night with you! 🙂 I had never heard of Svalbard & couldn't imagine a place without trees when you 1st described it. But Svalbard looks magical & beautiful, in all seasons. I truly love your sense of adventure & living fully in your environment. I am the same way ~ I would love the opportunity to just travel & meet people around the world. I'm so grateful for you, my dear. You're someone I have grown to adore & look forward to all your videos on all platforms. 💜💜

the vibe of your videos gives me so much joy but in a peaceful way. this life is dreamy and the atmosphere is breathtaking
Cecilia and Noraly (Itchy boots) two young European women (30s) so different and so similar; both travelers, both adventurous, both glow with peace and happiness and both with the most amazing content. Love them both! 💕
holy moly the 5 second shot at 1:55 is not just cinematic, it's got that je ne sais quoi that is truly something special, i gasped
I'm going to longyearbyen in January because of this addictive channel! Love you Grim! X
Grateful we found your channel. You are an amazing storyteller and videographer! The scenery and accompanying music is magical! Grimm is absolutely adorable! Thank you from New England! 💗😊
Svalbard is so magical, I can't wait to visit (only 3 years to wait, for my 50th lol). Thanks for sharing your home town and all the wonderful footage of it all, I'm always mesmerised and have fallen completely in love with it there. And with Grim, such a gorgeous boy!!!!❤️🐶❤️
I’m really excited to join you this Polar nights..although the days shorten in Holland, we keep long days of daylight. And Polar night looks so amazing, magical and calm. I love wintertime. Have been in Sweden by minus 28 celsius..incredible!! I never heard of Svalbard before and really enjoy your video’s! Thanks and all the best for you, Christopher and Grim!
Your attitude and energy is so incredibly uplifting.
🧡🧡🧡
I’m from Portugal and Svalbard is on my list to visit and I’ve been dreaming of living there but as you’ve mentioned for our economical situation it’s absurd.
We’re having tons of housing problems here and the wages/tax issues make one cry. It’s unbearable at this point… if I could leave, it would have been yesterday. Keep the videos rolling, I love to watch them! Cheers 👋🏻
it’s like that everywhere though, not sure what your expectations are
Same here in the states. Housing prices have skyrocketed & rent is out of control. A one bedroom apartment that was $700 6-7 years ago is now close to $2,000. Our homeless crisis (I’m in Portland, OR) is also out of control. I think it is a worldwide issue exasperated by Covid. Sad.
@@LindaKayHolevas how much is your minimum wage/ how much is a normal wage to get in the states?
These may be a dumb questions but here it goes anyway . . . How do you power and heat your home? I live in southeast USA and we truly experience all 4 seasons so it doesn’t get bitterly cold or blazing hot for long periods of time. Thank you for letting us see how you live in an area that most of us will never get to see in person. ❤️
Love your enthusiasm and joy of your home. Looking forward to joining you virtually through the polar night.
I’m learning so much and really enjoying your personality and perspective 💕💕💕😍
Magnificent video Cecilia! It was both stunning and heartwarming. Thanks for sharing Life on Svalbard with the world!
The perfect video to watch while enjoying my Sunday morning latte - absolutely love your content and the joy you share and love learning about Slavbard ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🇨🇦🐶
Cecillia I so love your amazing videos and content ,you are truly an ambassador for the island I've been following you for a while and share your channel with my granddaughter and she loves it and has learnt a lot.
I was always talking about the seed store and when I realised where you were and you actually went there and explained about it so blew my mind ...thank you so much for sharing your life and family with us all blessings sweet lady 🥰🥰❄️🌬
I have been with you for over a year. I think I like your boating adventures the most. You end up in places you wouldn't go to any other way. Such amazing terrain and beautiful nature. Your other adventures are fun too, it's just the boating ones I find to be even more so.
I get very educated listening to you talk about your beautiful island of Svalbar. I absolutely love your UA-cam channel Cecilia!
This looks absolutely magical and beautiful to me. I’d love to experience a polar night.
Such beautiful video quality! I cannot wait until your Christmas vlogs and Christmas dinner at a local, charming, cozy restaurant. You are such a wonderful Ambassador for Svalbard.
Hi Cecilia! I'm new here! I did subscribe to your channel a few days ago. And let me tell you that your videos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your life experience in that beautiful village. It gives me the opportunity to see what's going on in a place that is super far from where I live. It's marvelous to watch other parts of the world that I could never imagine that would exist.
Thanks and take care!
Thank you so much! 😍🧡

@4:35 “hello?” . You are adorable Cecelia , the more I watch your videos , the more I love how adorable you are. Never change ! Love the video as usual 💕
Your positivity and creativeness , while showing us an inside view , in living in one of the most extreme places on earth is an inspiration…
I’d love too visit this place one day
Your channel is my favorite! I am absolutely obsessed with Svalbard now. Thank you for sharing with us 🥰
How beautiful the semi-lit sky is! Have you thought of creating an "ambient" video with your footage and background music for people to play for a couple of hours?🧡
I saw a video about Svalbard and loved it by another content creator. I had never heard of Svalbard at that point. After watching his video it suggested your channel and and I instantly subscribed and started watching all of your videos. I enjoy your content so much. I’m always excited to see the polar nights and I love the care that is given to protect the land and the wildlife. Also one of my favorite things is that there are so many people from all over the world living there. I think when I visit I may not want to come home😊
You’ve had some amazing life experiences and really living it fully!
Hey Cecilia I have recently joined your channel and have never heard of Svalbard until now. I think it would be a magical place to live but I am not sure if I could handle the polar nights. I have never seen snow and can't get over how everything is frozen. I live in Maryborough Qld which is in the tropics and our temperature is in the mid 30 deg and sunrise is around 5.30am and sunset is after 6pm. I enjoy my walks as well but usually in the mornings before it gets too hot.
Can't wait to see your next vlog as I enjoy watching your daily progress / life as it is so different to mine.
Cheers from Australia.
