This snowstorm brought HURRICANE SPEED winds!! The strongest winds we've ever experienced here at our cabin on Svalbard. In this video we spent a few days stuck in our cabin, and we also head into Longyearbyen to see how the village deals with the aftermath of a big snowstorm. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you so much for being here! 🧡☕️

I love the new shelf!❤❤❤
Random question! How do you keep your vehicle batteries from not dying in the cold when parked? I live in alberta Canada, we get -40 weather and have to plug ours in to charge the block heater.
I also wondered about the batteries...
Super niche question, but I'm curious about what ice/snow removal products are allowed to be used in Svalbard? In Minnesota people use a ton of salt and grit for management but I'd imagine the ecosystem of Svalbard is protective against it's environment and ecosystem?
I love the shelves. I'd want real plants. Can you have real plants with a plant light.
Also did you get a package from MD,USA a bit over a month ago. It had some Blue Buffalo dog snacks in it for Grimm . I use to walk dogs and they loved Blue buffalo Dog snacks. Plus there were a bunch of other American snacks .
I don't know how to put this into words, hopefully I'm not the only one. Cecilia, there is something about you that turns everything into magic. Your videos are dream like, fairy dust and magic yet you are so relatable, down to earth and so kind. I will watch your videos till the day I die or you stop making them. Thank you isn't enough but I have no money to give. My love is what I can give and I do.
😭 Thank you so much for this lovely comment 🧡🧡🧡
@@CeciliaBlomdahl You're welcome!
What a lovely comment and it’s so true.

Grim knows that your viewers love him, so he decided to show himself in all his glory 😅
Grim absolutely REFUSING to go outside is too pure 😅
his ancestors would be ashamed 😓
@@marshal3577 His ancestors wouldn't have gone out into storms like that either. They were smart.
Yes. The intelligence of Grim's ancestors is why this beautiful boi is w/ us today.
@@Nemrai Indeed. Animals knows when they need to hide for bad weathertoo or dangerous weather then haha
@@marshal3577 Lol!
Grim was on point today! Lying down next to his buried toy 🥰 “Please help, momma!”
As a Canadian, it's so refreshing to watch a channel i can relate to. There are so many vloggers making videos about their tropical vacation in Bali, etc. Seeing videos about snow & cold makes me feel like i do belong on YT LOL. My latest video was me shoveling. 🧊
Jonna Jinton does a beautiful vlog from her house in Northern Sweden. More snow plus shovelling....
Wow! I can only imagine. Living in Florida and having been through many, many hurricanes, cat 3, 4 and 5 I understand the wind, rain and flooding. Are the cabins and windows somehow reinforced? I actually grew up in northern and southern New England, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Snow isn’t anything new. But, I can’t imagine the cold!😊
I love how Grim wanted you to dig his toy out the snow for him, like he had no claws to do it himself ! 🐶🐾❤️ Thank you for another lovely video. 💕
I'm surprised grim didn't dog it out himself.
@@carochan86 It was so cute that he wanted his Mommy to do it instead!! 🥰
I love that your videos come out on Sundays!... So cosy! Are you not scared that one day #GRRrim will say something with an actual voice? He is so expressive!
😍 hahah imagine!!
The Northern Lights were so beautiful! 💖 Thanks for sharing. Grim sure loved it when the storm ended 😁
Were the aurora shots in real time? I rarely see shots that haven't been speeded up.
@@spikespa5208 Yes, real time. :)
Glad to hear that the storm has passed with no major consequences! I can’t wait to be there in a couple of weeks!
Lucky!
I will carry your luggage 🤓

Just a small token of appreciation for all of your videos and content. Very much in love with your fluffy teddy bear, Grim!
Your cabin must have incredible construction to withstand that storm!
Seeing our national animal as a toy for Grimm was hilarious. Thank you for such wonderful stories and film of Svalbard and your lifestyle, from downunder.
I love shoveling snow! I have house-sat people who both had big circular driveways. It took me several hours each day to complete it. The general caught me on their camera and sent his son to tell me I did need to do that, but when he came home he was glad to be able to drive right in and I was grateful to be able to get out! Their dogs and I had a ball being out in the snow chasing each other! Oh, this was in the north Seattle are, where they usually don’t get a lot if any snow.
Cecilia, this was great to see your snowstorms and the aftermath. I live in Michigan in the states and I thought some of our storms were bad, but you definitely win that prize! Sweet little Grim! Just love him in all his furry beauty!
Awww, I love watching Grim because he reminds me so much of my Walter. He was an American Eskimo mix and had a similar personality. Lots of the same quirky mannerisms! I adopted him when he was 7, and like with Grim, a lot of people were surprised when I told them his age too. Acted like a young pupper till the very end ♥️
It is beautiful there! Grim is a delight. Every time Grim barked or played with his squeaky toy, my daushund Ginger, would get sooo concerned and confused. She would start crying and barking. Funny that a dog at the most northern place and a dog in Alabama, USA could understand each other!
So glad everyone is safe from the storm!
Grimm is just the cutest, and sweetest dog!!! And those Northern lights are breath taking. I can't imagine them in person. Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of our world. Very much enjoy it!!!
the aurora borealis was soo soothing
Have you ever had to deal with a rouge wave? One of those monster waves that come out of nowhere. Living so close to the water, that would be my biggest worry. Love your home❤️
With all the solar flares going on, I had a feeling you’d be seeing a lot of gorgeous Auroras. Caught me off guard for a second when you said here comes the bus. Thanks for sharing this with us Cecilia!!!❤️❤️❤️
🇨🇦 Hello again from Ontario Canada! I loved your comment Cecilia where you said there's not bad weather but bad clothes! Lol so true. Thank you so much for always keeping it real Cecilia. I love following along with yourself, Charlie and Grim! Always be safe guys! 🐨🙏
Your blue light in February is exactly what we had (at least for a few hours per day) during the weeks we spent up in Arctic Norway in late December. It was so beautiful -- and so foreign to us as people who have spent the last 43 years in South Florida.
It must feel so cosy listening to the storm in bed, awww Grim taking centre stage! He's adorable ❤ x
The stormy scenery and feeling is amazing and definately we can't get enough of Grim in the videos ! Absolutely adorable !
How fun to watch this snowstorm from the relative warmth of the Smokies in Tennessee USA. If we get one inch of snow here they empty the store shelve of milk and bread. They close the schools for a week. How beautiful your home and your town look in this white blanket. Thank You for sharing... Hello Grim scratches and hugs!!
I’ll never get tired of seeing the northern lights. I live in Texas, USA and we don’t get the opportunity to see them so I love when you include a little of that! Also love your music choices in your videos. Good to see Kristoffer and Grim, too of course! 💕
Grim *face in the camera* "Is this my best side?" Maybe?....No..." *Moves butt and tail, wagging happily because he's a gem* "Ah, there we go, got THE best angle of me, enjoy my fans!". :'D This channel makes me so happy! You all are amazing.
If I was Grim I'd say nope to going out in the storm (even to pee). I subscribed after watching the Kara and Nate video, and now I want to get my weekly view of our fluffy boy ❤
I love Grim’s toy! He’s such a sweet boy ❤
All the videos you have done with the northern lights have been so amazingly beautiful. I love watching them with the beautiful music you put on them! Some people will never see that in there lifetime, this will be the closest thing! So Thank-you!
Grim and northern lights, just what I look forward to on a Sunday morning. I would love a video of just the lights and music to keep on in the background while reading.
Grimm and his kangaroo squeaky toy is the cutest thing on UA-cam!
Also, him crying over his buried toy: my ❤️.
That was a seriously outrageous storm!
🇨🇦 The lights are just sooo magical. Seeing them makes me emotional. To see it on a video probably doesn't do these lights justice, even though these are beautiful clear pictures. Like visiting the grand canyon. You really have to be there to feel and see the whole picture of it's beauty. Cecilia, Charlie, I just want to say again * Thank you both* for sharing your part of this beautiful world. There are millions of us that wouldn't know or get to see these if it weren't for you's. 👍🙏❤️
I am finding myself anxiously awaiting your videos. Your voice, your content...perfection. You are just what my anxiety always needs. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you so so much 🧡 I'm so glad you enjoy it!
Oh those northern lights!!!💗💗💗
It warms my heart everytime I see Grim so well loved and taken care of he‘s so increadibly cute ❤
Svalbard is a beautiful place..snow or not! It is beautiful here in Michigan, too, when the snow arrives, but I don't care to drive in it some days. I feel it is the other people on the road that drive like crazies when the roads are snow packed and icy, which gives a lot of other drivers anxiety. Grim is such a cutie.. For seven years old, he appears to do great and enjoys dog life. Enjoy your snow!
CECILIA!!!!! Can you make us a sights and sounds only video? 😍 No talking. No music. Nothing. Just scenes and sounds. Capture what the mood would be if I were there all alone. Like a 30 min video. Thanks!☺️ Love from Arizona!!!
I want to do an ASMR video, so I'll start working on it 😃😃 It's gonna be a challenge for me to be quiet for that long 🤣
Poor Grim, his reaction to the frozen toy really set our dog off barking🤣
Love their cozy cabin, and absolutely love Norway's storms. There were three winter hurricanes I experienced during my years there. Unlike in the U.S., Norway builds to accommodate them. Notice no boarding up windows etc. However, I confess a great fear of water and waves coming, even though Cecilia reassures it can't happen there.
Wonderful people, great country, great memories 🇺🇲🇧🇻
Shutters on windows will primarily protect against solid objects in the air. It will not be a lot of that in Svalbard when there are no trees and the ground is frozen.
If you need them to protect the glass it will simply not be thick enough glass in sturdy enough window construction
There are building codes in the US that accommodate hurricanes. For instance, in south Florida counties, building exteriors, including window openings, are required to withstand the impact of an 8 foot long 2x4 traveling 200 mph on end.
Happy Sunday Cecilia!
Thank you for all you do!❤
🧡🧡🧡
The northern lights are just magical and love how they were dancing for you 😍
Wow what a ❄️ storm , love how it looks after it’s over so peaceful and so pretty. Glad you guys are safe and Grim finally go to go out and run around . Plus so cool you get to play with your snowmobile. ❤ my Sunday morning is complete now thank you ❤ love you guys ❤❤❤❤ have a great day and week 😊
The stormy scenery and feeling is amazing
It looks magical. Grim is soooo cute!!! Thank you for sharing another beautiful video!!!
Thank you so much for watching! 😍
Grim’s reaction to going outside was too cute. “ yes I’m a tough husky but umm no…” 🤣😍
Great videography as usual. The blueness gives such a calm feeling.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏻
Glad to hear it passed without too much damage, it did make for some beautiful vistas. And poor Grim.
I’m from the Chicago, IL area and our winters can be very cold and sometimes have a lot of snow. I am so excited! You video’s literally changed my mind about winters and I no longer dread it but welcome it. Getting my son on the bus and playing in the snow just before he left for school is one of my favorite winter memories from last year. I look forward to this year!
😍😍😍 Oh! These are the best stormy days to meditate on the fire in the furnace. 🌊🌊🌊🔥🤗
Grim is like, "Hell no, I am not going out in that"!
Grim is definitely the star ⭐️ of your channel. I’m glad that you’re safe and well after such a wild storm. Cecilia you provide so much joy to the viewers. ❤
**whole house covered in a meter of snow**
Cecilia: "its not cold out", somehow I don't trust that statement :D
hahah!
The song at the end and showing the village buildings. I rewatched that part so many times. Absolutely magical! 💖
What a dreamy day! I also adore a stormy day with a fire going inside. Thanks for sharing your lives with us!
Grimm is the cutest dog! I think if I lived somewhere so cold and remote, I would want a dog just like him.
Even in the extreme weather u can still make us feel peace. When im in depressed mood or sad or anxious im watching one of your videos and dreaming being in there and it helps so much ❤ thank you for being the most peaceful youtuber ❤❤❤❤❤
😊Cecilia, thank you so much for showing us more northern lights. It gives me such a calming feeling. Grim is such a beautiful and sweet boy. I know he brings joy to you and Christopher every day. 😊
The auroras look like beautiful, dancing spirits in sky... absolutely gorgeous!
Imagining how many people smile when Grim wags his fluffy tail. 🇸🇯🐶❤️🙋✨
Stay warm, keep being so sweet to each other. It radiates farther than you may know. 💕🐾🐕🦺🌍
I am happy that you, Christopher, and Grim made it through the storm. I hope Olivia and Fenris are okay, too.
I was also happy to see that Kara and Nate visited. The Husky Cafe was adorable!
Grim's friskiness was great. He reminds me of my dog's enthusiasm at going out. (Me - Carried away on a daydream of our dogs playing together.)
That storm is one huge ASMR for crafters, readers😊 Cecilia, have you ever thought of putting the sound and the video of roaring winds and snow on your channel would be fun. The sounds of Svalbard.
My Norwegian Forest Cat is also turning 8 this March (56 in human years!!), but people often thinking he is 1 or 2. He's very energetic and friendly ❤
We know it’s crazy weather outside when Grim decides to stay inside 😂
Beautiful. I live in northeastern US. Our winters are warmer now so we get mostly rain, which is a mixed blessing. I love shoveling when the storm is over - it’s calm and sunny and super quiet, and everything glistens crystal white. But I’m thinking of moving to Svalbard to experience a storm like that that churns the ocean… gorgeous! And then to shovel snow with the sights and sounds of the ocean… heaven on earth. Thank you for sharing, Cecilia!
Oh so beautiful! Thank you for sharing something I would never be able to see otherwise.
Grim is such a happy boy! As if the blue-light landscape, snowdrifts & sea isn't beautiful enough, then suddenly the Aurora Borealis appears like a dancing rainbow-angel in the heavens as a crowning glory :)
i could watch clips of the waves for hours so incredible! 🌊
Cecilia is strong. Built like a Valkyrie. Can take on any polar bear... Not afraid of a snow storm. 🌨🏂
Another wonderful video! It is so beautiful there! You make shoveling snow look like fun 😅and I wonder how many of us wanted to reach through the video and pet Grimm! I just love that dog! ❤
Cedilla I just can’t get enough of grim I need more of him
Grim is such a sweetie. He reminds me of my baby Blue, but he had blue eyes. I just miss him so much. He's been gone for 2 years now but my heart is still broken. I love to see Grim acting silly and talking. Blue did the same. Thank you!
Grim is the main character in this video 🤣 his refusal to go outside was so comical, his excitement cannot be contained after the snowstorm passed, and his pitiful whines when his toy was buried and he just kept palming it like he has ho claws 🤣🤣🤣
My 8 yr old ragdoll cat (her name is mama)has a HUGE crush on Grimm! Every time we watch your videos, she comes flying out and sits right in front of our tv to see him! I have the cutest pic of her staring up at Grimm during this video, but I don’t know how to share it with you!!!!❤❤❤
My favorite time is after a storm. Today a year ago, we were digging out. This year ice arrived. Rare to see hurricane force winds with rain at a warm -2c.
You really need a wide barn shovel. It cuts your clean out in half and can handle the heavy icy snow on decking.
Grimm is so much like ours it's funny, even down to the rescued toy. Ours unfortunately sneak into the home to be saved until the next outing to be buried again.
Our dump will be tonight. Stay warm and safe.
Haha. Cecelia, you know how much dogs are like their people (or vice versa). I loved how you said Grim was ‘so energetic, and just a tiny bit nuts’. True. And we enjoy your personality, just as we do Grim’s.
Grim is the happiest in the world, so cute, nice, the best friend. I really would embrace him. I love him and he knew that it was too dangerous to go out in that weather! He also protects you and Christoffer Wow! You are truly lucky to have Grim! But also Grim to have two nice people like you. Anyway the storm was scary. Thank you very much for this awesome video
Grim is so lovable! Hugs to him.
I've always enjoyed cold weather but you have certainly given so many of us viewers even more ways to enjoy being home and taking days slower. It makes you appreciate the small things and not being overscheduled. I'll watch more snowstorm videos ad they meant more Grimm time!
Grims refusal was too adorable. Hes like nope. 🤣🥰
This is my first time watching. 😁 I got to meet you on Nate and Kara's trip. It is so wonderful to see the Northern Lights. I saw them once in Vermont. They were green there too. Glad you can stay in and snuggle. Grim has already stolen my heart ♥
Grim was like …. “While you’re already digging, get my toy out will you” ! ❤
Oh, my that’s incredibly scary! And here I am thinking 32 degrees is 🥶. Stay safe & warm!❤
-5 or whatever isn't really cold at all, especially when you dress properly. Just before Christmas it was -30 here, and -55 where my friend lives in the mountains. THAT is *really* cold! Probably pretty unimaginable for anyone living in a more temperate climate. 😊
Keep in mind the temps shown on Cecilia’s weather app are in °C; it’s not as cold as you may be imagining. Not that it’s _warm,_ of course, but I think the usual temperature in Longyearbyen is much colder than the snapshot we’re seeing here. The wind, otoh, is pretty extreme, especially when you combine it with the temperature, proximity to open ocean, and lack of sunlight.
Scary????
-3 Celsius is 26 Fahrenheit, it's obviously chilly but it's not anything that proper warm clothes can't deal with. I do think the wind can bring the subjective temperature down quite a bit. But I'm sure they have times on Svalbard when it's A LOT colder than this.
Grim is such a character, he is like nope, not going out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes your videos are magic puts me in a whole new world. Both you and Christopher are so humble and down to earth. So beautiful. thick fog moved in plus very icy rained this morning. Winds like this can get terrible too here in Montana especially with snow and a blizzard.
A good storm makes for lots of cozying. You make even digging out after fun. Thanks for sharing your lives with us.

Grim: "Immediately no"
Love seeing new videos. Life on Svalbard is so interesting.
That weather is so scary and that wind!! Honestly seems like the perfect weather to cuddle up with a good book or video game! 😍
Agree but not too long 😂 its depressing for the long term
I love the treat of northern lights ..I sit on window sill and watch them ..we had them on lull day this week
You are SO inspiring to encourage others to get out and love our bodies regardless of weather! You are a go getter & I love it!
HI Cecilia & Christoffer and Grim Really glad to hear that you survived that snowstorm and everything is OK well I could not laughing when you tried to get Grim outside I think he was outside for less that 5 seconds I think he wanted some love and playful time then he could curl up in front of that log burner.Keep Safe and looking forward to your next one.
Thanks for this video. What a phenomenal storm you had. Loved the aurora. Grim standing in front of the camera was so cute. You certainly have a very sturdy cabin after those winds. Thanks for all you do to show your part of the world.
I love to watch your video at night and by candlelight. Makes such a cozy, fun experience ❤
❤ So cute how Grim asks you to get his toy out of the snow!! There is no way you would not get it for him!! Sweet boy!!❤
Omg. Did anyone else see Cecilia doing magic at around 14:07? She was holding up her hand at the wall and as soon as she did, the snow fell down. She's a Svalbard witch :O
I love being warm and cozy during a snow storm too. Thank you for sharing your beautiful world w us Cecelia 🤗
This is my absolute dream.. to just cozy up and enjoy the wintery weather! Glad you're safe and sound :)
One of my dogs got so excited when he heard Grim playing with the squeaky toy (he loves squeaky toys too). It was so cute. 😂
