I got to visit Crater Lake when I was a kid and it still looks so amazing! I've always wanted to go back to visit there again because it is one of my absolute favorite place's. I never got to see a view like this though, so thank you for doing this video and bringing back the good memories I have from there. It is such an amazing and beautiful place
I had the chance to go but I wasn’t 18 yet so my parents had a say in what camping trip I went on. I went to Maine instead and had a blast but still hope I can see this place in person on day.
I’m making a video on disappearances from crater lake, could I use some shots from this video and credit you in the description box? If not it’s totally okay! I just want to ask first.
yeah, i flew close from a parking area....it wasnt hard to find a spot without people...I just walked a few minutes away from main parking and found a private spot. Was a long flight though from where I stood until I reached the island..It was super windy and I was worried I might not make it back because of the distance and high wind...all has gone well though...
It's illegal to fly drones above or near Crater Lake. Most folks want to keep the waters clear and pristine. Not have crashed drones scattered around. Once again it is illegal. You may seriously expect a call from Federal Law Enforcement.
Yeah. Not only is it illegal to fly in national parks, but also in U.S. Wilderness areas. I would report anyone who flew in one, myself. Although, I do love drone footage (but wilderness and national parks are not the place for them). I wouldn't be surprised if hikers on Wizard Island were not happy to hear a drone overhead. There are trails on Wizard Island.
Hey Ralph, Back in 2015, I moved from Los Angeles to Minnesota. During the process I took a road trip on my FZ1 up to Vancouver via PCH, with a detour to check out Crater Lake starting in Los Angeles before crossing over to the Twin cities. I had a couple cameras on the bike and a couple friends join me. I'm putting together a documentary series of the trip but I'm looking for some B roll of certain areas. I was wondering if you would allow me to use some of your youtube footage and if so how you would like me to credit you in the final presentation. The project is purely a passion project of "sweat" equity. I put a little teaser together from some of my footage, if your interested in seeing what I'm working on. Cheers, Pete peterbisson@sbcglobal.net
hi Peter...I do those drone footages just for fun...not for money....:-)....its a hobby.....However, if some of my videos would be used for somebody elses work, I would like to have my name (youtube name) stated on the video to maintain my copyright of it...we can discuss further if needed...Thanks. Ralph
Thank you, sir! This will be most helpful. I will make sure to credit you appropriately and I will let you know when the project is ready to be viewed. It may be awhile ;-)

you should definitely put it on your list. The lake is very unique
I'd visit Wizard Island wearing a Mongrels vest. With an off-road motorcycle.
Alright, since nobody else brought it up: How did you get it so the wizard's spells didn't interfere with the electronics in the drone?
DJI wasn't always locked down. And other brands weren't either. And people do jailbreak their DJI now.
The pilot clearly used their own spells

sure, go ahead. Credit in description sounds OK to me. Thanks for watching..:-)
@@ralphderkapitaen9875 yippie! Thank you!
Days gone
Surprised it's still up and showing on UA-cam .
Beautiful.
thanks. It's a great spot to visit.
Ain’t it like a 10,000 fine and 6 months jail to film a drone over a national park?
oh boy...:-)
Haha Drama much just wait for the next government shut down
Awesome shots. Wish it was legal to fly there now, I would love to video it as well :)
thanks for watching..:-)
Anyone know who to call to get a permit to fly? The law is written so as to allow for permission to fly...
Wizard island about to blow mt masama rebirth
last time it erupted was about 5000 years ago...i havent seen any reports about current activity...?
how deep is that lake ? why is it illegal to fly a drone there ?
I think its almost 600 meters deep. The deepest lake in the US
@@ralphderkapitaen9875 thank you very much

Cool. I'm surprised they let you do that.
They didn't.. It's illegal :/
@@AdamClauson I thought so
Why is it called Wizard Island
SMH
Is that a plug dome in the centre of the lake ?
yes, its the lava dome.....btw the crater is not totally dormant..it can blow again in the future.
Ralph der Kapitaen wow ! Thanks

@@ralphderkapitaen9875 oh ok well whatever it is it sounds really good
Is this a volcano?
yes its actually still an ACTIVE volcano, although its dormant now
where did you launch from? Is it easy to go undetected?

Report drones flying in parks.
Call 1800 IMA NAZI
Chris Lemons lmfao
Wouldn't it be amazing if someone made an animation on the meteor hitting and then making a time lapse up until now?
Crater lake is a caldera, it was formed when a volcano erupted and then collapsed
Hell yeah!! I flew in john day national monument and got away with it. Nice job
How did you get a permit for this?
It is illegal in national parks and wilderness areas. There is no permit, actually.
