Me and some friends dived Crater Lake from the research station dock many years ago. The big difference with our trip and yours is we had to carry all our gear down. That was very grueling and at altitude. The climb back out was really tough and LOL after a few weeks of thinking on it made it feel better. One of the divers with me said he found caves deeper down. The whole trip was very cool. I think the boat ride around the lake was pretty darn cool as well. Thanks for the video it brought back some fun memories
That would be awesome to see that track get used to bring geological studies up from deep in the crater. It's facinating that the water it doesn't freeze there, and there is active vents at the bottom. Supposedly the crater was way way deeper at one point in time then overtime the bottom acquired a ton of sediment from little earthquakes and landslides. So imagine how deep it was in the beginning of the crater... The scientists there said something like 3,000 + I forget the exact depth. Great video, I love my home state, I live up north in the Willamette valley area. I loved going to Crater lake tho. That would be so fun to work on that track underwater and explore the rocky edges in your off time.
Nice video! Looks real similar to Lake Tahoe. The cliff you swam past reminds me of Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe, since Cave Rock is the remnants of a volcano. The water temperature also seems close to what Tahoe is at the 15ft depth.
Great video! I'd love to see you come to New Zealand here and dive Lake Taupo. That too is a crater lake and I'd love to see some video of its depths! There was a research team a few years ago that took a mini-sub on a dive there but I've never seen any footage of the dive.
I always try to get the stuff I find back to the people who lost it. It's kind of fun. Unfortunately none of the GoPros I have found had any pictures or video that I could use to identify them. I always take a picture of my name and phone number and leave it on the SD card so if I loose my camera and someone finds it, they could get in touch with me. Even just to send the footage.
There is plenty of fish. It was stocked with a couple of different species of fish in the past. Now the parks department would like to get them out of the lake. You can fish in the lake without a license I think, and there is no limits. You just have to take what you catch, and there are restrictions on the type of bait used. At around 14:40 in the video it shows a couple of fish and crayfish.
There is no evidence that native fish ever lived in Crater Lake. However, between 1888 and 1941 the lake was stocked with seven different species of fish, only two of those species thrive today. It is currently estimated that the lake supports approximately 60,000 kokanee salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka; landlocked sockeye salmon) and rainbow trout.
Am i the only one that sees the huge giant face when that go pro footage is leaked. I find it also strange and coincidental that the go pro went towards that face as well.
There are. A couple of different species I think. It was stocked way back in the 40's I think, but now they want them out. I don't think you need a license to fish there.
Hey man that guy from that go pro dude would have payed money to have a returned go pro thought that I should remember thanks sincerely saved his name your registration
Before I start just want to say thanks for posting and I like the video. This is just my opinion, feel free to disregard my opinion altogether. But I almost didn’t want to watch this video because the music at the beginning was actually kind of annoying. But watching a video with the sound muted is boring. But the music when the water part of the video began was much more fitting and less intrusive. Just my opinion, if you disagree that’s okay , keep it up. 👍
05:45 - Gee, I wish Americans would start using the metric system. "Feet"... I have no idea what this means. It sounds archaic ... because it is! Wouldn't you like to join the rest of the world with metric? Seriously, once you learn the new terms and get examples of the new measurements down, the conversion between units becomes a breeze. We humans are good with base 10.
I'm a big fan of Crater Lake. A huge thanks to see this beautiful video! 👍👍🤏🤏✌✌👏👏💪💪
Enjoyed the Go Pro footage. Looks like alot of fun diving there. Thanks for making this video.

That's stunningly clear that water.... scuba diving heaven
The go pro and found footage is SO cool! Thanks for adding that in

Thanks for sharing this awesome footage. Crater Lake is definitely on the dive bucket list now!
I was told it’s profited or frown upon. Something about not wanting to contaminate with other species of parasites or something g.
This is really cool, thank you

So amazing. . . Thank you for sharing!
incredible, beautiful places
😊

I wish the boats were running when we went! So jelly we didn’t get a chance to get closer to the water.
Crater Lake. Dove many times. Aquired my nitrox cert there. Should have also been high altitude cert.
Oh well. Incredible clarity & cold at 40⁰.
The music makes this hard to watch
funny how the lake seems void of any marine life
I mean, it was created by a volcano
They showed fish and crayfish (or maybe they were lobsters?
There are huge lake trout and salmon in that lake
It has a lot of kokanee salmon in it. Since everything is non-native you are allowed to fish without a license and keep whatever you want.
@@HolyNewBendy parks stock fish from hatchery’s. Even if it was empty usually they will stick lakes with fish
from the under water boat launch rails. It shows this lake level is rising. And has risen a lot over the years.
Thanks for that explanation! Wondered how they got down there.
Can you swim to the bottom? It’s only like 1,900 ft deep right?🤯
Did you find the guy from the GoPro? I bet he'd be super happy to get back his camera and footage ^^

@@andycunningham6757 I think I know who it is!
Nice footage
There's definitely aliens at the bottom if that thing.
How did you get permission to dive there? Was told it was closed to diving.
For all of this we were diving for the park service.
Are there any submarine videos ?
10:20 in the sand looks like a ring just right of center.
It's too bad you didn't narrate this video and share more information with us.
Was there ever a diver down to Marriam Cone?
Did you ever run a metal detector down there
No, we haven't. The lake bottom is pretty coarse and rocky so things don't really sink in. And I don't have one.
I thought this was illegal to dive at Crater Lake, over concerns with invasive species 'hitching a ride'?
Is there no fish, plant life? Is it a dead water?
There is plenty of fish. It was stocked with a couple of different species of fish in the past. Now the parks department would like to get them out of the lake. Tons of monster rainbow trout..kokanee salmon and huge cray fish.I catch them all the time as i live close by...no license needed and no bag limit
@@andycunningham6757 in that case time to go mass crayfish hunting hehe.
Why does the parks department want to get all the fish our of the lake?

Cool video
Pretty sure people fish that lake...but where are they in this video?
Are y'all camping in a mine shaft!?
Nope. The boat house is covered in rocks to hide it a bit.
Scuba diving and all this stuff is illegal how are you able to do all that in Crater Lake?
It was done under the supervision of the Parks Service
2200 feet deep.
Or 600 meters. That is the entire Mecca Clock tower.
What song was playing around the 6 minute mark?
It's called this 👉💩
I want to say it’s from the sega game Eco
You should try getting views of Merriam cone.
Love the lake and that is hands down the coldest water I’ll probably ever swim in- but worth every minute! How deep were you guys able to scuba?
Any fish in the lake?
Yes I caught my first fish there when I was a kid walk a mile down steep sucks walkin up
Are fish in there
There are. A couple of different species I think. It was stocked way back in the 40's I think, but now they want them out. I don't think you need a license to fish there.
Fishes?
It's creepy but clear and beautiful down there. The total lack of life is a little off-putting. Nobody has stocked the lake?
i don’t see any fish?!
10:11 kinda looks like a door XD
It's "compilation" of different videos......"; NOT "compellation"
Hey man that guy from that go pro dude would have payed money to have a returned go pro thought that I should remember thanks sincerely saved his name your registration
I love the music choice
Nice.. little more narrative would have been good... Why you there what kind of fish was that, etc.....
Did he died?
Not a fish in sight
Kill the music, it’s horrible.

Dive Diamond...it would be more interesting
...also use better background music...lol
I have... It was not.
Annoying music :-(
would've been MUCH nicer to hear some narrative as the whole thing is taking place.
Quit contaminating that pristine water, what in the hell!
They are with the parks service.
