Adum: I think that people get miffed when you say "Bollywood" because not every Indian film is an over-the-top action musical. The term that we use is "masala movie". That's how we describe a movie that's made as a mass-entertainer, like you noted when comparing it to a Marvel one. I do agree that if RRR is someone's first introduction to those kinds of movies, then they will be disappointed by how many others are just like that. I liked what Ralph said about "casting your net too wide," because that's a systematic problem with a lot of Indian movies. It's called the "single-screen" mindset. Filmmakers appeal to audiences who live in small towns where going to the movies is an extreme luxury. Their movie theatres may have literally only a single screen to play one movie at a time. So masala filmmakers create these multi-genre, 3-hour movies so that those audiences feel like they're getting the most for the price of their movie ticket. That's why masala movies make so much money, compared to more nuanced Indian films.
how do you distinguish bollywood/indian films that aren’t “masala movies”? it seems as though every film i’ve even heard of from india fits into this. obviously a limited perception but like where are these hiding, is there some indian analogue to the AFI that might have a list of some notable films ?

Every indian action movies are like that, for example EEAAO has a reason to be stupid and nonsensical, there's a reason it's shot in this nonsensical, absurd and stupid way because this movie is about finding meaning in absurdity that's the reason it shot in a very nonsensical and absurd way on other hand rrr is just fun over the top movie there is no Deep meaning and reason behind it,RRR has been shot in that manner only to entertain the audience,And every Indian commercial movie does the same, there is nothing new in it. Its a good fun movie But please don't call it the best film of 2022 It's wrong
RRR is a good film with really good artistic elements. The attention to detail in its production is praiseworthy. While the overall filmmaking is impressive, I personally find RRR to be overrated. Allow me to explain my perspective on the film's shortcomings. RRR is 7/10 for me 1)RRR, despite excelling in its grand set pieces and impressive action sequences, there are some parts that are overly exaggerated. Additionally, certain moments in the climax can be deemed ridiculous, leading to a slight disconnection for me as a viewer. While I appreciate over-the-top action sequences, I find some scenes to be particularly unconvincing. 2)I didn't find the characters of RRR very interesting, and they didn't captivate me as much. While they were not one-dimensional, They had some depth as well, but overall, I didn't find them as interesting, unique and with as much depth. They could have been written in a better and more nuanced way. and the character of bheem was sooo stereotypical It is not necessary that every character in a movie should be deep and complex for me to enjoy them. Relatability and connection also matter to me. Unfortunately, I couldn't establish a strong connection with the characters of RRR, and I couldn't connect with their friendship that much. In my opinion, their friendship lacked emotional depth and a real connection. Their "DOSTI" was portrayed through generic songs and montages, but it could have been shown in a different way to depict their bond. I appreciate well-characterized, unique, and intriguing characters in movies. However, the characters in RRR felt exaggerated and god-like, similar to what I've seen in other Indian films. It's challenging for me to connect with such demi-god-like characters. The chemistry between the two lead actors was good. They're mainly instruments exploited for eyegasmic sequences. RRR is a film where objects take center stage, driving the narrative. It leans more towards fantasy and dreams than capturing the essence of real life. However, in certain instances, their efforts to be believable came across as unconvincing and cringeworthy, such as the Ram boxing scene. Nevertheless, these elements are sufficient to evoke a sense of vitality within many people. 3) The portrayal of the villain could have been greatly improved, from his character to his dialogue delivery. Despite my anticipation, I found him to be utterly artificial. In Rrr, we encounter the same clichéd villain archetype.I couldn't help but perceive him as overly contrived and reminiscent of a cartoon. There was an absence of any genuine sense of danger emanating from him. The way he spoke his lines felt forced. A more meticulous construction of the villain's character is warranted.(btw RIP ray Stevenson🕊️) in Bahubali, bhallaldeva was strong and powerful villain character that's why the Bettle of the last one seems very equal . However, in RRR, the final battle was well choreographed but heavily one-sided. you can built villain's character in a better way like Tarantino did in inglorious bastards with Hans Landa.Another example is Leonardo DiCaprio's role in Django Unchained. Despite being cruel and over the top, DiCaprio's acting made him a genuinely menacing antagonist. He felt like a direct threat to our hero. Unfortunately, this sense of danger was missing in RRR's villain and he was very CARINGY 4)I have a personal inclination towards a different style of humor and find that the humor and jokes presented in Rrr was not good. you will get to she this in many indian films that a desi boy falls in love with a foreign girl ,but our desi boy does not know how to speak English which creates comedy, whole name pronouncing thing was so lame and such an old trick to create comedy 5)On a positive note, the song "Komuram Bheemudo" in RRR stands out, conveying the message that true freedom stems from unity among people, not just from weapons. This event also emphasizes the role of art and poetry in India's independence struggle. However, the film's conclusion felt unrealistic and comical, as only the two heroes managed to defeat all the British characters. While their union symbolizes unity, the lack of believability in the climax was a drawback. It would have been more impactful if Bheem had rallied the support of the people who caused an uproar and saved him from punishment to rescue Ram. RRR doesn't say anything new or interesting about its main themes of "friendship" and "freedom." However, a film like "Sardar Udham" (2021) does extensively explore these aspects and truly explains what freedom is and why it is so essential, despite the difficulties in attaining it. It depicts the struggles and hardships of achieving freedom without making the Britishers over-the-top cartoon characters. It reveals what it truly means to be a freedom fighter. portrays the real atrocities committed by the Britishers But i appreciate some of the intentions Rajamouli functions with in RRR. His prioritization of words over guns, revolution over violence, and friendship over rivalry While I understand that movies like RRR are meant to celebrate friendship and freedom rather than explore them, and it was enjoyable but at some points it was over-exaggerated and cringy also Rrr is not really something new; it's kind of a checklist-type movie, but it tries to present those familiar elements in the best possible way, which is why it has worked for so many people.
@@gchudasamadarshit9111 no one’s saying it’s the best of 2022 but if all Indian action films are like this I’m inclined to check it out. What has turned me off in the past is the spontaneous dancing which this film had very little and the one scene it did have it was very fun and fitting

@@firstnamelastname816 just checked all five, and they seem fine to me! Let me know how they’re wrong specifically if you want Edit: oops I forgot and fell for the meme!! lol
I don’t get how people are using RRR and the Apu Trilogy as a comparison in Indian movies. That’s like comparing Ultra Man to Seven Samurai. The similarity ends there.
I loved RRR because it reminds me a lot of EEAAO in that it's a very earnest film. It doesn't have any pretension about what it is and embraces the absurdity while still showcasing its emotion. It just felt like a film made with passion and fire unlike most marvel films
@@gchudasamadarshit9111 I disagree. The over the top nature of the film heightens the emotions portrayed by the film and gives the action energy. It's a film made with a clear purpose. It doesn't have to have a deep meaning to be good and fun, which it is. I think it exceeds most marvel movies because the passion for the filmmaking process is felt throughout the movie.
1:18:22 Adum’s point here actually just made me realize that was exactly why Velma did not work (aside from many other issues, but that show certainly does not justify it being a “mature” take on Scooby Doo)
I really hope Adam checks out more Indian cinema because they're not all over the top "bollywood" movies. It's like being not all that familiar with Japanese cinema and thinking they're all anime or tentacles and robots. There are TONS of grounded films from incredible directors. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend director Anurag Kashyap's Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), Ugly (2013) and Raman Raghav 2.0 (2016) to start with. These are made on shoestring budgets and are some of the best films ever made. It'll hopefully change your perception of Indian cinema.
I guess they could know about "jaby koay" (now changed to cine desi) and "our stupid reactions" channels for more on Indian content especially their reviews
Gangs of wasseypur is basically a Tarantino/Scorsese plagiarism and will make Adam dislike Indian films more. If he wants to see a truly original Indian film shot well Super Deluxe is the way to go
@@debodatta7398 hard disagree. While I liked Super Deluxe, one of its biggest problems was the ADR dubbing, which seems to be the case for most Tamil/Telugu/Kannada movies. Malayalam cinema uses sync sound for a lot of their films. ADR dubbing was one of the issues Adam pointed out for RRR and it was one of my biggest issues with it as well. ADR dubbing sucks and ruins a film. The 3 Anurag Kashyap films I mentioned are the best ones to start with.
M3GAN is literrally a film where the CEO of the toy company says they'll "punch HASBRO in the d**k," I don't understand how they had any issue with figuring out the film's tone.
The most likely reason why Flash was not scrapped is because they're going to use him to narratively bridge the gap between DCEU and DCU, like comics do whenever there is a giant universal shift.
I am not mad at adum for not liking RRR but I am surprised he is as ignorant about indian film industries as any person from the west considering he watch so many foreign movies. Also which "Bollywood" movie adum has watched exactly ? Because many people just call indian movies as bollywood. I appreciate the criticism but don't appreciate the ignorance.
OH NO HE DOESN'T IMMEDIATELY CHANGE HIS OPINION WHEN SOMEONE ELSE EXPRESSES THEIRS. OH THE HORROR. HE DIDN'T LIKE MY FAVORITE SHITTY BOLLYWOOD MOVIE! OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO.
15:15 It is dubbed in multiple languages because not all the actors of the movie speak the same language. Ram's father (Ajay Devgan) and girlfriend (Alia Bhatt) are Bollywood actors. The bollywood and other regional actors joined the movie because the film needed to be reached to North India where Bollywood films are famous and also the reputation of the director due to Bahubali.
To whoever asked the VR Film question, thank you! And thank you Sards for answering! As a CS major who loves film, this has actually been pondering my mind the past week on how it would work and the best way to go about it. I’m taking notes for sure.
Adum disliking RRR is one of the few times where I legitimately don't understand his opinion. Like, it's fine if you don't like it, but how do you watch that movie and find it boring? Sure, it's not trying to do anything more than just be a super fun movie, but Mad Max: Fury Road was just trying to be fun too, and Adum liked that.
Mad Max Fury Road is fun because cars are crashing and exploding in real life. Adam is not estimulated by a guy punching a Cgi tiger. Like he says: It's not what happens but how it happens
I get what you're saying, but there is a chasm of difference between, say, mad max FR and RRR on a character writing basis. Character writing in RRR is very shallow--which is not unique to that movie, to be fair. Most action movies have either mediocre or downright awful writing
I mean, the tone of RRR is quite different; action on it's own doesn't make a film entertaining and fun is very subjective. The whole koncept of RRR seems a bit odd to me: it's like a trash b movie but at the same time a serious movie? With a dance-off? Could be a cultural thing, but I also couldn't get into it.
@makooverthose I felt like I was watching two movies at the same time: one moment there's a serious story about the British colonisation, next moment a dude is boxing a badly animated cgi tiger...and the next moment they're dancing. I just couldn't follow what's happening, it was too bizarre. I'm not even calling the movie bad, I just couldn't understand what it's trying to communicate to me...and it was sooo long with not that much story progression or character development going on. Just not my cup of tee and I can totally understand why Adam didn't enjoy it.
Indian RRR fans in the comments actually surprised that Adum didn’t like the movie need to watch more YMS lmao. As a horror fan I’m far more surprised when he actually likes something. His criticisms are usually valid though, it just depends on what you value most in your entertainment.
@@VARMOT123 I think it's adum seeing comments accusing him of racism and him just tuning those responses out without realizing there is actually a meaningful difference between the things he was lumping together, and he likely still doesn't know the distinction because he is probably just going to skim over those comments at best and remain poorly informed about the nuance of Indian regional media
His criticisms seemed incredibly superficial, like midi trumpets and dubbing (an industry standard in a country that has like 6 different languages). My main gripe is he keeps just saying he couldn't connect with it but never elaborates on why, along with his huge generalisations about Indian cinema it's just so incredibly dismissive.
adam just doesn't like the genre. It would be like making my mom who hardly makes it through a movie to watch Climax, she would hate me for suggesting it. Just like adam with RRR. Just not his genre. I'm glad he's getting another perspective about it because he didn't even pay attention from the start in the movie live stream.
@@Luneland Yeah, I know. As insightful as Adum is, he is very set in his ways. And I've even heard him complain about Indian films before and seems to have a distaste for them on par with Suicide Squad type films (because of the fanbases I think). And there's no problem with not being into something, but I do find the dissonance of hating things like this, yet celebrating Neal Breen films, for example. I know he hates the word, but it is a bit pretentious... and there's nothing wrong with being pretentious since we all are in a way. Oh, well. it is what it is.
@@AndresGomez-ct7qb I totally agree. In the live stream he didn't even bother to pay attention from the start. It is a bit silly how he expresses his dislike to this movie. Like if we are ignorant and we haven't watch Indian films before therefore we liked it because it's our first experience with Indian movies. Dissapointed, but not unexpected.
It’s funny that they mentioned horror movies having obnoxious audiences. I remember seeing It in theaters and these girls in front of me kept laughing at everything and ruined it for me
I predicted that M3gan was going to be more of a dark comedy than slasher and probably be really good or at least fun. The trailer had a sense of tone and nowhere was the little girl in danger. It's great seeing Adum and other people watching the trailer saying it's the Worse Thing to Happen on Jan 6th. Then they actually saw the movie
Ik Adam is done with all the Indian movies, but I really want them to give Super Deluxe a try. It's one film I think is really good, without any caveats. If y'all see this, I'll be honored. Edit - By one film I meant one Indian film.
RRR on a big screen is an awesome experience. _Loved_ that movie. I haven't heard past the intro yet and I'm already suspicious that they gave RRR a collective 6 because, you know, film people, but I'm excited to listen to _anyone_ talk about Serial Mom.
Really glad the guys all really liked Serial Mom, it's a pretty wacky movie that makes for a fun good time even though it's for sure weird, it's got a lotta laughs.
I know he kept jokingly referring to people saying he’s racist for not liking Indian movies, and I do not think Adam is racist at all. However, his view of cinema is pretty limited to the standards set by primarily white male filmmakers. Obviously he has enjoyed movies made by women, and people of color, but typically when the movies they make fall within that particular standard. Just an observation, we all are capable of biases that can be viewed as bigotry.
he’s never liked an indian film, and i don’t understand why the ones he watched had all the characteristics that he hates about indian movies but never gave a chance to the ones that are close the art house genre or just more grounded because there are a lot of indian movies like that.
You contradict yourself saying he enjoyed only White male directory and then accepting he watched black ,female directers by the way go and watche his channel he watched so many different types and different language of cinema.
@@chaosjut nah the scene where he fights an entire army of people by himself is not something that would ever be made in the US without heavily relying on CGI. Also the scale of the dance numbers, the scale of the sets in the cities. Just a BIG movie that would have been accomplished through CGI if it was made in the US.
@Adam Smith get back to me when you arent 15 or have seen more than 5 marvel and dc movies to compare to. Either youre dumb, uninformed or disingenuous and whatever it may be RRR is still dogshit

Adam reminds me of my best friend who has been acting incredulous for almost 20 years every time she gets called racist. I tell her " Dont you find it funny that random people for years accuse you of the same thing that you swear you're not?"
His defense being "I have foreign films in my top tens" is fuckin weaaaaak. Reminds me of when white people say they're not racist because they have a black friend.

In this episode they mention that Serial Mom reminds them of American Psycho even though the movie did not release until 2000 but the book was out. John Waters is a bibliophile with a house full of books. So it wouldn't surprise me if he read American Psycho in the 90's and had that influence Serial Mom
I feel like for the vr question a simple murder mystery of people trapped in a house could work well just have a main story and you can look at other guest to see how suspicious they look
RRR is awesome guys....great friendship and pure entertainment without any lecture...watch it with your family members in big screen..you all will love it..8/10.. M3GAN is 4/10 for me.. Not watched serial mom yet...
7/10 RRR was a good movie , and I don't hate rrr because RRR is comercial film but it's directed by Rajamouli , and rajamouli's comercial films are very artistic yes I know every single detailing in rrr, the horse and bike metaphor, fire and water metaphor , Raju represents Lord Rama and Bhima represents Lord Hanuman, that is why in the last Bhima's character carries Raju on his shoulder which is inspired by ramayan, In the beginning, a little girl made a drawing on British queen's hand that drawing is refrence to Bahubali 1, but I don't think that Rrr is best film of 2022 Because I have many problems with rrr 1) many action sequences were there that I didn't quite believe example: bhim and bike action scene in climax, And I have the same problems with Rajamouli's other films as well, example: Bahubali 2 coconut tree scene 😂😂 I don't have any problem with over the top action sequences but some of scenes are very unconvincing that I just laugh on them, 2) Rajamouli had said that RRR is inspired by Inglourious Basterds, in Inglourious Basterds antagonist was general landa which is one of the greatest antagonist ever, But Rrr, has the same stereotypical villain who we know from the start that he is going to lose in the end. 3) There are many such stories in India in which two childhood friends grow up, one becomes a police officer and the other becomes a thief, RRR also has a kind of similar type of story in which one friend works for the British Government and the other friend is against the British Government. But a big movie superstar can never be a villain in India. That's why only after watching the trailer, I realized that Raju will also be against the British government. And yes raju and bhim's friendship happened by just an event i mean such a deep friendship may take time, Movie would not be made on such friendship in America but it is very common in India. 4) characters are to cartoony, Raju's character has some character development , But Bheem's character was very one-dimensional RRR lacks character depths, This is the condition of commercial movies in India, they don't understand the importance of character's depth, they don't understand the importance of a good villain in the movie, Finally I don't hate rrr it's better than other trash Indian comercial films like pathaan, kgf and pushpa but I don't think that Rrr is the best movie of 2022 Over all 7/10 for me And I hate the fuc***g fans of rrr they are literally calling it the best movie ever made 😭😭😭
RRR is a true aspect of making an action-pack epic movie. It's a bit better than other blockbuster films because they mock every scene and every trope that it against Marvel, DC, Free Guy, and lame over-hyped films that it felt like a Hindi (or Telugu) superhero team-up movie. Sometimes it did have a cheesy Bollywood musical style and the drama felt very real it have good emotions and a good time to enjoy so I went to see it on Netflix and boy, it was the best Hindi experience and it's amazing. After I've seen Adam's Watch-Along video to see it with a commentary, it failed his experience and his timestamp lost me and I didn't find his time track which he skip ahead and that pisses me off, and his critique of not liking RRR was pretty whack. Look apologies for Adam no offense because you have the editing mess and didn't give an s#$t about the movie's attention I'm with Alex so he did it better critique than you do.
Ok hearing YMS immediately being pissed at RRR... why? Rewatch the movie, it's such a weird masterpiece... "i was soo not impressed by anything that was happening" bruh WHHHAAAAATTT!?!?!?!?!?
Great episode. I’m one of the viewers who’s been harsh on Ralph in the past and id just like to say the past 5-6 episodes have been great. Much appreciation to all 3 bois and hope they keep thriving (not just online, but in their real lives).
I 100% agree about the problem with the dubbed languages. I can kind of understand why they did it, but I also just want to see them speaking and hear the thing they are saying with subtitles instead of any dubs.
Great episode. I haven’t seen RRR, but it looks good, M3GAN shocked me since I thought it would be a stupid horror movie, but I found out the people behind it are self-aware of what it is, making for some emotional and more so hilarious moments, I watched Serial Mom right before watching that part of the episode and it’s silly, but entertainingly silly, the question about James Gunn taking over DC came from me, which the conversation went farther than expected, and I am officially going to watch recommendations before watching that part of a new episode. Thanks, Sard Boys!

Wow. Literally only Ralph could have nothing but negative things to say about a movie, struggle to remember anything he actually liked about it, and still give it a 3/5 with no real reasoning whatsoever. The falloff of Ralph Sepe is something that needs to be studied
so for the VR movie to work, it could be like a mocop play that you can walk around, so it would need to be animated (but you could go with a super realistic aesthetic)
you don’t seem to have a good track record with indian movies, so here are some recommendations that don’t fit the stereotype super deluxe (tamil) jallikattu (malayalam)(90 min runtime) biriyaani (malayalam) kumbalangi nights (malayalam) gangs of wassypur part 1 & 2 (hindi) sardar udham (hindi) btw the malayalam film industry is known for making more grounded art films compared to other indian movies.

Female Trouble or Polyester are my favorites by John Waters. I think you folks would have a lot of fun with them. They aren't quite as straight as Serial Mom but they aren't as dirty as Pink Flamingos. Kind of the best of both worlds.
Serial Mom's tone is more obvious if you've seen his other films, especially Polyester. That movie is soap parody so none of it ever feels grounded or realistic. Serial Mom is that except swap out soap with the true crime genre
yeah, something felt right here than *Baahubali* it was almost the same thing I've seen all the time with either Bollywood, but mostly Telugu/Tamil etc. but this was sincere? maybe thats the right word? But that 1st fight scene was the point I saw oh, wait... this was good.

I really love how committed RRR is to being a big, dumb action epic. No quippy humor, no self-deprecation, just bromance and throwing tigers.
Its a good fun movie But please don't call it the best film of 2022
It's wrong
RRR is a good film with really good artistic elements. The attention to detail in its production is praiseworthy. While the overall filmmaking is impressive, I personally find RRR to be overrated. Allow me to explain my perspective on the film's shortcomings.
RRR is 7/10 for me
1)RRR, despite excelling in its grand set pieces and impressive action sequences, there are some parts that are overly exaggerated.
They could have been written in a better and more nuanced way. and the character of bheem was sooo stereotypical
It is not necessary that every character in a movie should be deep and complex for me to enjoy them.
A more meticulous construction of the villain's character is warranted.(btw RIP ray Stevenson🕊️)
in Bahubali, bhallaldeva was strong and powerful villain character that's why the Bettle of the last one seems very equal . Unfortunately, this sense of danger was missing in RRR's villain and he was very CARINGY
4)I have a personal inclination towards a different style of humor and find that the humor and jokes presented in Rrr was not good. you will get to she this in many indian films that a desi boy falls in love with a foreign girl ,but our desi boy does not know how to speak English which creates comedy, whole name pronouncing thing was so lame and such an old trick to create comedy
5)On a positive note, the song "Komuram Bheemudo" in RRR stands out, conveying the message that true freedom stems from unity among people, not just from weapons.
It reveals what it truly means to be a freedom fighter. portrays the real atrocities committed by the Britishers
But i appreciate some of the intentions Rajamouli functions with in RRR. His prioritization of words over guns, revolution over violence, and friendship over rivalry
While I understand that movies like RRR are meant to celebrate friendship and freedom rather than explore them, and it was enjoyable but at some points it was over-exaggerated and cringy also
Rrr is not really something new; it's kind of a checklist-type movie, but it tries to present those familiar elements in the best possible way, which is why it has worked for so many people.

@@QueenJneeuQ i’m kinda with him. 6/10 sounds right. i don’t think it’s great but its decent
@@gchudasamadarshit9111 American action scenes are just as impossible and unnecessarily flashy. Indian movies just take a step further

If he wants to see a truly original Indian film shot well Super Deluxe is the way to go
Adum might actually like the Apu trilogy. Hopefully he watches it someday

I don't think this is even in question, this movie is very obviously adapting flashpoint
That, and probably because wb figured more people care about the flash more than batgirl

I'm with Alex I watched rrr with friends and some beers and it's a blast
Adum disliking RRR is one of the few times where I legitimately don't understand his opinion. Like, it's fine if you don't like it, but how do you watch that movie and find it boring? Sure, it's not trying to do anything more than just be a super fun movie, but Mad Max: Fury Road was just trying to be fun too, and Adum liked that.
Mad Max Fury Road is fun because cars are crashing and exploding in real life. Adam is not estimulated by a guy punching a Cgi tiger.
Like he says: It's not what happens but how it happens
It's kinda snobbish too
I get what you're saying, but there is a chasm of difference between, say, mad max FR and RRR on a character writing basis.
Based Alex 👌
Indian RRR fans in the comments actually surprised that Adum didn’t like the movie need to watch more YMS lmao. As a horror fan I’m far more surprised when he actually likes something. His criticisms are usually valid though, it just depends on what you value most in your entertainment.
It is not about him liking rrr . That is fine if he doesn't. He stereotypes indian movies and languages with zero knowledge what it actually is
@@VARMOT123 I think it's adum seeing comments accusing him of racism and him just tuning those responses out without realizing there is actually a meaningful difference between the things he was lumping together, and he likely still doesn't know the distinction because he is probably just going to skim over those comments at best and remain poorly informed about the nuance of Indian regional media

@@Luneland Yeah, I know. As insightful as Adum is, he is very set in his ways. And I've even heard him complain about Indian films before and seems to have a distaste for them on par with Suicide Squad type films (because of the fanbases I think).

RRR was a good movie , and I don't hate rrr because RRR is comercial film but it's directed by Rajamouli , and rajamouli's comercial films are very artistic yes I know every single detailing in rrr, the horse and bike metaphor, fire and water metaphor , Raju represents Lord Rama and Bhima represents Lord Hanuman, that is why in the last Bhima's character carries Raju on his shoulder which is inspired by ramayan, In the beginning, a little girl made a drawing on British queen's hand that drawing is refrence to Bahubali 1, but I don't think that Rrr is best film of 2022
Because I have many problems with rrr
1) many action sequences were there that I didn't quite believe example: bhim and bike action scene in climax, And I have the same problems with Rajamouli's other films as well, example: Bahubali 2 coconut tree scene 😂😂
I don't have any problem with over the top action sequences but some of scenes are very unconvincing that I just laugh on them,
2) Rajamouli had said that RRR is inspired by Inglourious Basterds, in Inglourious Basterds antagonist was general landa which is one of the greatest antagonist ever, But Rrr, has the same stereotypical villain who we know from the start that he is going to lose in the end.
4) characters are to cartoony, Raju's character has some character development , But Bheem's character was very one-dimensional
RRR lacks character depths,
This is the condition of commercial movies in India, they don't understand the importance of character's depth, they don't understand the importance of a good villain in the movie,
Finally I don't hate rrr it's better than other trash Indian comercial films like pathaan, kgf and pushpa but I don't think that Rrr is the best movie of 2022
Over all 7/10 for me
And I hate the fuc***g fans of rrr they are literally calling it the best movie ever made 😭😭😭

RRR is a true aspect of making an action-pack epic movie. It's a bit better than other blockbuster films because they mock every scene and every trope that it against Marvel, DC, Free Guy, and lame over-hyped films that it felt like a Hindi (or Telugu) superhero team-up movie. It is not necessary that every character in a movie should be deep and complex for me to enjoy them.
A more meticulous construction of the villain's character is warranted.(btw RIP ray Stevenson🕊️)
in Bahubali, bhallaldeva was strong and powerful villain character that's why the Bettle of the last one seems very equal .
It reveals what it truly means to be a freedom fighter. portrays the real atrocities committed by the Britishers
Wow. Literally only Ralph could have nothing but negative things to say about a movie, struggle to remember anything he actually liked about it, and still give it a 3/5 with no real reasoning whatsoever. The falloff of Ralph Sepe is something that needs to be studied
Finally they're going back to proper interesting recommendations, I'm sick of all the meme/bad movie/already famous movie recommendations
so for the VR movie to work, it could be like a mocop play that you can walk around, so it would need to be animated (but you could go with a super realistic aesthetic)
Adum confirmed again as bottom tier taste
you don’t seem to have a good track record with indian movies, so here are some recommendations that don’t fit the stereotype
super deluxe (tamil)
jallikattu (malayalam)(90 min runtime)
biriyaani (malayalam)
kumbalangi nights (malayalam)
gangs of wassypur part 1 & 2 (hindi)
sardar udham (hindi)
btw the malayalam film industry is known for making more grounded art films compared to other indian
movies.
58:45 family guy really ruined that phrase for me. I haven’t seen that ep in prolly over a decade and every time I hear that phrase, I still hear “it insists upon itself, Lois”
I gotta see rrr, I love dumb action.
It is playing in theatres too. Better than the latest marvel phase movies. Just pretend our 2 leads are slightly super heroes.
If you boys want some more Waters films closer in tone to Serial Mom, check out Pecker & Cecil B. Demented.
Demented forever!
Speaking of the Howie Scream, have any of you guys seen Broken Arrow? That's the movie where it got the name, from Howie Long's character. John Travolta's character is absolutely amazing.
"You're out of your mind."
"Yeah! Ain't it cool?!"
Also the origin of Aintitcoolnews.
An indian friend didn't like RRR and he joked "The only good movie from India worth watching is Slumdog Millionaire"
Well, damn. That's a bit over the top.
That one is bad as well
You have a very pretentious friend.
Female Trouble or Polyester are my favorites by John Waters. I think you folks would have a lot of fun with them. They aren't quite as straight as Serial Mom but they aren't as dirty as Pink Flamingos. Kind of the best of both worlds.
I knew when I saw this in the theater that Adum would like that the kid died in M3GAN LOL
If you guys want to watch a proper Indian film. Super Deluxe from the Tamil region is the one you want.
Serial Mom's tone is more obvious if you've seen his other films, especially Polyester. That movie is soap parody so none of it ever feels grounded or realistic. Serial Mom is that except swap out soap with the true crime genre
Oohhh Withnail, that episode sounds promising
yeah, something felt right here than *Baahubali*
it was almost the same thing I've seen all the time with either Bollywood, but mostly Telugu/Tamil etc.
but this was sincere? maybe thats the right word? But that 1st fight scene was the point I saw oh, wait... this was good.
I’m thinking Adum didn’t watch RRR in the right environment. Watch this movie with a bunch of friends and don’t take it too seriously. It’s like one of those old Chuck Norris movies, just sit back enjoy and have a good time
I can't believe Serial Mom stole a quote from Patrice Wilson.
Damn, Ralph really took fucking forever to say nothing.
I had never watched a Jhon Waters movie, but serial mom sounds kind of fun
Serial Mom could be described, in some ways, like the climax of Jeanne Dielman, but not taken as seriously, like at all.
RRR is EEAO for people who shower regularly
Jesus, that intro was so unexpected that I had to turn my volume down.
most RRR watchers have seen bahubali and eega because they went back and looked at it
John Waters has made 12 feature films with a 13th on the way
