These figures seem like the ones that are supposed to be kept in the box. Beautifully built, sure. But hard to move, low quality plastic, no base, and cheap feel are all criticisms I’ve heard around.
Yeah kind of feel like some of them could have been a lot better they kind of remind me of the Doom Slayer figure on paper sounds badass and looks fun but when you get him it's kind of lame especially since he's so stiff and not very good for poses. You can barely do any cool stuff like you can't put him in the iconic pose and what makes it worse but this only applies to people who pre-ordered it is they've kind of ripped off people who pre-ordered it by charging them extra when you can get it for like 22 dollars at GameStop
The ones I have stay in the boxes just because I know myself well enough to know that I'll lose the extra weapons if I take the figures out and try to pose them.
I got a blu demoman and his hands are painted brown. Its actually a blue plastic just painted over. It scrape's off too easily when putting his guns in his hands. Still love it but thats my issue

It’s strange that the quality of these figures is so varied, considering that NECA have such a good track record. I own quite a few other NECA figures (mostly from various horror lines), and they all look amazing, have plenty of accessories and are generally quite articulated. Their Alien and Predator lines are particularly good.
the figures honestly remind me of not only the feeling of the tf2 universe, but the state of the game as well. So I guess they did a good job of making them.
I remember getting Demoman, Heavy, and Soldier back in the day and being disappointed in them. My Demoman’s leg broke off when I tried to pose him and my Heavy’s ankle broke off when he fell off the shelf. Soldier’s pretty good though, but the all of the figures have paint that flakes off. I like like NECA, but I feel as though the toy license should’ve gone to another company Also, I managed to fit Heavy’s shotgun in Soldier’s hand
Considering that Max Factory did make some Portal 2 figmas and Nenderoids for the co-op bots, having TF2 figmas (especially with modern day figure engineering) would be absolutely rad.
I recently got the Medic figure and I was actually able to get the medi gun in his proper hand. It was a bitch and I kept thinking it would break but I got it in there. However those little wires on the bottom of the barrel broke but they can be moved back into place.
Nice. If I'm being honest ill probably try to remove the medigun and back pack. At the least just the gun and to put it back on I'll use black yarn or something.
@@menacingduke2415 I could not for life of me get the syringe gun or bonesaw in either hand though. But yeah the medi gun hose/tube is very awkward and stiff. I got the Medic figure new only a week ago and it was in the box since 2018, so the hose is even stiffer from being stuck in one position for two years. The bonesaw ended up making a great prop for a stop motion project though.
I wish either Neca would remake these figures (since Neca now makes super high-quality figures that look good and are super posable) or they would get another toy company (like McFarlane) to make new figures. But knowing Valve, and the current state of TF2, it’ll probably never happen.
I'm jealous that you could find any of these in a Target. The only ones I've been able to find out in the wild were one each of Scout, Sniper, and Medic in a comic shop and I saw but didn't purchase a Soldier figure in a booth at a convention once. I only opened the packages of my figures enough to get the cards out to redeem the codes and then taped them back up to keep the weapons from getting lost (because I know myself well enough that I know that would happen).

I think the Gentle Mann's Service Medal is included because it's a bodygroup that's part of Soldier's actual model rather than being a separate item bonemerged on top like all the other cosmetics in the game.
As someone who is now actively collecting tf2 merch, I really like these figures! They’re mediocre at worst and I never open them, so if you’re taking my route then I definitely think these are really good. They are very expensive tho and my personal price limit per figure is $200 so remember to set price boundaries
I think the reason Soldier is the only one with a cosmetic, The Gentlemen’s Service Medal, is because his stylised profile picture has him wearing the medal, which is presumably what the action figures were based off.
Honestly, why Neca? The only worse choice for these guys imo would have been McFarlane. (And they made much better figures when the TF2 line was first coming out.) I wish figures like this would get licensed to better companies. An SH Figuarts TF2 line would blow me away. Regardless, it might be fun to get sniper and kitbash all of my cosmetics onto him.
Hasbro would've been the best for simple playability and overall cost of the figure. Neca is good, just not with the sort of cartoony style. They are normally best with the horror movie figures and other things.

Fun fact. At one point these figures were supposed to come packed with a hat. (Corresponding with the hat you unlock when you use the code). I recall seeing somewhere a picture from SDCC one year where NECA had the figures on display. And it showed the Heavy wearing his ushanka, and off to the side were the Gloves of Running Urgently.

i have every one of these figures and, just for information, you can get the demoman to hold the grenade launcher in both hands , the stickybomb launcher in both hands, the pyro you can get to hold the fire axe in both hands, the spy can hold his sapper in both hands, the scout can hold his pistol, and the medic can hold his gun in left hand. it just takes a bit of patience and as you mentioned an uncomfortable amount of force to strech their hands. but they can hold them. if you were wondering why each figure has such different paint jobs and sculpting its because they hired different sculptors and paint artists for each toy. check on the bottom of the box it mentions their names . i need to make a video showcasing them all. Somone let me know if they have the threea blu heavy id be willing to pay a very high price for it...

My engineer came with a broken leg that can’t be reattached without him being slanted and my soldier’s right arm came off.

i have every one of these figures and, just for information, you can get the demoman to hold the grenade launcher in both hands , the stickybomb launcher in both hands, the pyro you can get to hold the fire axe in both hands, the spy can hold his sapper in both hands, the scout can hold his pistol, and the medic can hold his gun in left hand. it just takes a bit of patience and as you mentioned an uncomfortable amount of force to strech their hands. but they can hold them. if you were wondering why each figure has such different paint jobs and sculpting its because they hired different sculptors and paint artists for each toy. check on the bottom of the box it mentions their names . i need to make a video showcasing them all. Somone let me know if they have the threea blu heavy id be willing to pay a very high price for it...
