Well done Wayne - great session. We have Smoothounds here on the East Coast of NZ's South Island (locally known as Rig), mostly the starry variety. We use hardback paddle crabs for Bait, but large prawns work very well too (have you ever tried them in the UK?). I use a fixed circle hook just above the J hook and they all get the circle hook. My best last year was 10 in 15 casts at Pendarves, just south of Christchurch. Like you, I couldn't keep 2 rods in the water!!
No problem with people using braid at all, if they know how to use it. I've seen people get snagged, and cut the braid at the reel. One or 2 braid snags & the beach is done. It's just an opinion, cheers for the comment
@@TheShoreHunter good point. ive been lucky up till now and not had a snag with braid so will keep that in mind. cheers. although when i say straight through i mean to my rig which is mono.
