Don't miss the jam at about 6:15. I was literally just playing random chords and Jakko was ripping over them. It was a really cool moment for me. I overdubbed some synth parts when I was editing the video to add a bit more atmosphere, so I hope you liked it and enjoyed the video with the awesome Jakko Jakszyk!
100%! To me they are progressive in the truest sense of the word. KC and Yes for me, I really connect with Crimson’s complete disregard for the whole fairy tale fantasy prog thing. I love the darker, moodier, jazzier stuff, especially 69-74.
Love Jakko, amazing vocalist and guitarist. If anyone isn't familiar with the modern line up of King Crimson do yourself a favour and watch some videos on youtube.
I watched some videos on youtube, 3 were a cat playing a piano and the other was an excitable Swedish guy playing computer games. Finally I saw a guy buying video cards for people. Now I think I understand what King Crimson is.
Great conversation. Jakko was unknown to me until Fripp put this last iteration of Crims together, and from what I’ve seen is very talented in so many ways. Nice to hear him talk about Holdsworth.
My dad played guitar, primarily. After he dad died, I got his mandolin & instruction book on how to play mandolin. Because mandolin tuning & NST are the same (5ths) for four strings, I decided to just apply the mandolin techniques to NST to start wrapping my mind around it.
Really cool man ! I listen to King Crimson for like 14 years now (considering I'm 30 years old it's almost half of my life ahah). Now please, release a full playthrough instrumental cover of Frame By Frame! That little minute at the end of the video gave me goosebump !
Damn Tyler, You are a pretty good interviewer! You stay out of the way and let the guest be the focus, interact appropriately and bring it on home to PRS! Very enjoyable, do more.
You should try to get ahold of Trey Gunn. He played with King Crimson, as well. While he's not a traditional guitar player, his Warr Guitar playing is super unique.
This is Allan Holdsworth’s tuning chord. He used that right from the beginning. It’s an E major 9 chord by the way. There are many live videos of Allan playing this chord. The notes in that chord are: E B F# G# D# E from low to high. Jakko mistakenly calls the D# note an Eb. There is no Eb note in an E major 9 chord, that note is D# and functions as the major 7th of the chord.
I love all of the success Tyler is having, I dont know who the guitarist he is playing with but he Is enjoying himself and that is what matters. God bless you Tyler, keep up the great work.😊
Robert Fripp really can do it ALL. By himself. Says alot about JAAKO. Jaako is very talented in his own right. Adrian Belew played with Crimson For years. Another great Guitarist. Jaako stepped in nicely doing The older material of Crimson. Hopefully they can at some point Continue on. Seen this lineup several times. Just amazing.
Never heard of Jakko before this (then again, I don't know King Crimson outside of Fripp and Levin)... he's great! However, at the risk of getting yelled at in the comments section, I have to say he reminds me a bit of Hobbit LOL (don't hate me, because I really love that movie and everything the Hobbits stand for!) :)
It makes me feel weird when my instructor moves my fingers manually, but it's better than us sitting there for however long until I figure it out by myself.
Jakko Jakszyk talking to the man that made Nashville Noises ...Also, sidenote, Jakko is a really good singer and guitarist even if his voice isn't very fitting for King Crimson
I think he has a great voice for the band. At least for live shows, it's great. It's a bit raspy, so it fits with the improv theme of the band. Also, he can put in some lungs as well as emotion (love to hear him singing Easy Money), navigating well between the more explosive and quiet parts of the songs.
Why would he ever do that? Him and Jakko are bandmates and although I don't know anything about their relationship, I imagine that they mutually respect each other.
@@youreallygotmenow4855 its a joke because fripp aggressively removes people posting crimson songs on youtube. you could get some albums on pornhub at one point but they got taken down as well. Suddenly, crimson are posting their songs on youtube, which is great
A general question, how long does it take to be a good guitarist, not talking about pro... Like when will i unlock sweep picking, speed, fret and note memorization, improvisation, etc...?

@@jemmykolb I dont care a lot about that ear of crimson even thou belew is a killer guitarist. I like the larks tounge era because it had that weird crimson sound but had a whole lot of emotion in the music. @@jan_Travis I'm a bit weird. My favourite albums from them are Larks' Tongues in Aspic, but my favourite formation is the Fripp-Bruford-Belew-Levin one. That doesn't make much sense, but it is what it is, haha.
