    The thing I love about Miami boat ramps is all the kind and courteous boaters who will always grab a line from an incoming vessel to help them dock. Lmao. I don't think I have ever seen it once.😂🤣

      It's today's society. Most have no clue that anyone needs or could use some help for 11 seconds. The other thing is most younger people claim they are social butterflies, have a ton of friends, but have no idea how to talk to someone they have never met or aren't at a party with...

      0:21 I have been to many, many marinas over the years and NEVER saw people NOT offer to help. Sometimes the help wasn't much real help but the thought was always there. Apparently the opposite is the case in Florida where no one helps, no matter what is happening.

    I needed to see the one at 5:35. That's a guy who probably grew up in boats and his kids are learning the same way.

    If you get the stern line around a cleat on the dock just put it in forward and the bow will swing right into the dock. Easy peasy.

      Everyone doesn't have a soft throttle like that. One of my boats are very tight so I can't chance doing that with that one.

    One of the things that makes Seattle special is that every time I’ve seen someone come to the dock, at least one person comes down to grab a line whether the incoming boat needs it or not. Even noobs do it. I must confess that even I do it, as jaded and salty as I am. Must be some sort of weakness in the Seattle boating community. There are some signs of strength, however. Some people won’t throw the line no matter how obvious you make it that you just came down to catch a line.

      @signoresantinoburnett1169 Рік тому +5

      Those power poles are good on flat boats in the shallows. The pole goes down into the sand and acts as an anchor. Expensive, but they are useful.

  • @1verstapp

    of course if dad tried acting a bit more captainly - ''you grab that rope, you grab that one, and as soon as we get close enough jump on the pier and wrap it around a bollard or cleat'' - then things might go a bit smoother. this applies to all boats.

      The guy with the two daughters didn't need to tell them that. This obviously ain't their first rodeo. I grew up on a river and we always put the good boat on the downstream side of the dock so it wouldn't rub. I don't even remember learning how to dock that way. I bet those two girls have already learned.
