Blackrock and Vanguard make financial products that investors buy like index funds and ETFs. They essentially buy stocks in a basket of companies that represent either the whole of the market or a sector. They then turn around and sell investors shares of that basket and collect an extremely small fee for this service. That's what makes Vanguard and Blackrock popular. And because so many investors use their products they amass enough shares to award a board seat(s) to whomever they want and put pressure on the C-suite to adhere to ESG guidelines. That's what makes this so much more offensive, they're not even doing this with their own money. They're doing it with ours.

I work in an engineering and design company, dealing with multi million dollars projects. And I absolutely hate the person sitting right next to me. But I'm a professional. We can hate each other and still do our respective jobs. I don't need a safe space to work. Dealing with assholes is part of every job.

And by consciously choosing to EXCLUDE people from your group / organization based on their ethnicity, your organization has artificially limited diversity. So, well done crazy black lady; you've completely failed at DEI...but neither you nor your fellows who preach DEI are intelligent (or honest) enough to realize it.
And, of course, if we switched the word 'white' for any other ethnicity, her statements would be immediately denounced as the worst kind of bigotry.

Diversity is not the issue. The forced inclusion of any amount of x or y is just to have it present. It's not allowed to be natural, it needs to be there or else it's crap according to them.
And sure, a side character being gay over straight? That's fine, it has no real impact but it adds flavor and changes dynamics. But having the character being gay and do nothing with it? Boy that's just no thank you. And that is the real issue.

(well it is by far the most common color).. obviously it's because white doesn't absorb the heat the way dark colours do. So there are genuine reasons (apart from looks) for not wanting a black car.

I work in an engineering and design company, dealing with multi million dollars projects. And I absolutely hate the person sitting right next to me. But I'm a professional. We can hate each other and still do our respective jobs. I don't need a safe space to work.

If you want to escape ESG and DIE, then play indie games made by little studios who don't have HR departments or need giant loans to make the games.
