Fellow DeLorean owner here . VIN 04228. I had the exact same issue and it was all idle related. Turns out per DMC Houston it’s very common and usually stems from fuel mixture screw. It took me a minute to figure out where to attach the leads for the dwell meter.
Dude, you are so lucky to have a DeLorean. And it’s in a perfect condition and very well repairs. I wish if I have a license, I’ll love to have a delorean and drive it.
It's a good thing you're a patient guy, with all the future issues you will have with this car. It will be a neverending line of Delorean repair videos. Keep em coming. ;-)
Idle issues are very common for DeLoreans, we’ve owned ours for 25 yrs. It’s a bad mixer of old tech that basically needs maintenance. Oh, and some amount of money. Then it all works again. Then it begins again. That’s what DeLorean ownership is. But we still love it. You just either deal with it or sell it.
Yup, been dealing with that ever since I bought mine in October, as a matter of fact, I'm having the same exact issue he's having in the video. But mine sounds worse. I can't figure out what he unplugged and switched. I wish he showed that.
The smaller accumulator is not correct for the DeLorean. Some vendors were selling them when apparently could not get the OE one. Everybody should check theirs.
Hey man, I’m about 40 minutes (Hendersonville NC) from you…I’m experiencing a similar idle issue. Maybe I could swing by your driveway one day and you show me your magic touch with the dwell meter?! Haha. Let me know if I can email you or something would love to connect.
If I remember correctly, Delorean used a Reanault design engine which are renowned for electrical issues among others. Maybe to do with recycled copper being used for electrical harness, becoming oxidized over time and causing poor conductivity. French cars seem to suffer similar issues as they age and copper breaks down.
need to correct you - the wiring Harness is BRITISH Manufactured NOT French ;-) So you arespreading legends which aren´t true. When you own a DeLorean, take it apart to the last Nut and Bolt, you would know this Fact. THEN you would find Manufacturer Tags on the Wiring Harness.
Go to the Delorean Group on Facebook and look up AJ Matton and Darren Decker. They are awesome and do amazing work. They are out of Kernersville NC area. Florence is not too far for them at all.
So I have to ask about the Chrysler boat. My dad had one as well. Would love to find one but seems impossible. Let me know what you did about the boat!
They are almost impossible to find. I found a website that searched craigslist nationwide. In the past this has found one or two but the other times I just searched painstakingly each and every state when I was bored. They are out there. Most of the times search Chrysler Cuddy or just search Chrysler under the boat for sale section.
I didnt know you have to removed the air-Con condenser to replace the radiator !! I done mine radiator replacement with the new Fan , in one day , just by myself, I didnt even need to removed the Sway bar or the low end front ...... you just need not drop the condenser and damage the air-con hose, and thats all
You can always try doing less to remove it, many times it will work, but yes the correct way is to do both at the same time. One of my hoses is weird and just not enough tension to keep the condenser in place.

VIN 16650 here, when you accelerate do you have almost a complete loss of power but a decent idle? That's my gremlin today

We sold it a few years ago. My warehouse was being shut down and no where to store it safely.

Just from my experience I’ve never evacuated the AC to replace the radiator.
One of my ac hoses is weird and just not enough tension to keep the condenser in place.
