Uncharted Trailer Looks Awful & I'm Extremely Worried

- Tom Holland and Mark Walberg are just not Nathan Drake and Sully. It feels extremely weird, even when seeing them on the trailer and I feel like this film can and most likely will be a major disappointment. Will Sony, Tom and Mark prove us doubters wrong. I truly hope so. Come here my thoughts on the Uncharted Trailer and my major concerns with this movie.

It doesn't look aweful. Don't understand why people are hating so much. Like it's not even constructive feedback, it's just straight up hate. I think it looks amazing. People are too stressed about the casting choices...Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg weren't casted to play 30 something year old Nathan and 50 something year old Sully...it's a prequel! I think they made great casting choices for the YOUNGER versions of the characters! I got some amazing vibes from the trailer and it left me wanting to see more! Can't wait to hear your thoughts though ;)
It’s not awful in the sense of cinematography, but it feels so off between Tom and Mark. I feel awkwardness but like I said, I hope they prove me wrong. Will for sure give my thoughts on it when it comes out
Agreed. I mean, sure the trailer looks different from the games, but to me, it looks like it might be fun to watch.
I loved the plane scene from the trailer, it's my favorite moment from all the uncharted games, so that scene gave me goosebumps.

I'm actually fairly excited for it, but I do see a lot of your points on what is kinda off. Also, I kinda loved that new Tomb Raider movie although I completely respect you didn't enjoy it. Here's hoping video game adaptations do improve in the future though 🤞
I don't mind Tom Holland, But I really really wanted Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake especially after watching that fan made movie that came out in 2018. Nathan Drake is my favorite video game character of all time, I hope Sony does not mess this up.

God I'm just thinking how I would never pay money to see Tom Holland as Nathan Drake from Uncharted I am not going to watch this movie I already hate it
I'll be honest, the reason I'm not a fan of Tom Holland being Nathan Drake is Tom 's acting is pretty one noted. He's using the same American accent that he used for Spider-Man. If anything, Mark Wahlberg's voice and accent fits better for Nathan. Plus, Nathan is in his 30s in the first game. Tom still looks his early 20s. Not a match.
Correction: Tom's acting isn't one noted, Hollywood likes to cast him in one noted roles.

In his defense, I think that Holland actually looks like flashback Nate from Uncharted 3.
I'm optimistic about this movie.
I get the concerns, because now that the Uncharted games continuity is over, it feels odd to go back to a prequel.
I was skeptical about Holland's Drake considering that we're used to the Nolan North/Nathan Fillion look of the character, but after playing the Cartagena flashback again, I can see him as 17yo-ish Nate. He actually looks quite like him.
On the other hand, Wahlberg doesn't look like Sully, at all. His voice and manerisms have no identity to both older and younger Sully. Remains to be seen if the chemistry between him and Holland can somehow give us at least 50% of the quality between Nolan North and Richard McGonagle.
It's a shame that many of Sully's scenes from this trailer could have been instantly improved if he wore a hawaiian shirt and had a mustache.
The scenarios are probably the biggest success of this trailer. Everything around the characters scream Uncharted: the spanish cities, the shipwreck, the tomb, the plane set piece, etc.
Chloe's casting choice is spot on. The girl surely looks like her youngest version and she is instantly recognizable.
The jokes and visual humor of the games are there and that's a point in favor of the movie. The director is the same from Zombieland, so this won't lack in the humor department.
Antonio Banderas as Moncada (the villain) was an unexpected but welcome addition. I just don't want the movie to put him in a sword fight trying to emulate the final showdown with Rafe. He deserves a more original approach. Banderas is a big name and he deserves to be a good villain on his own.
I think that the early mention of Sam as a plot device for Nate to go into adventure is a good narrative choice. In the games we only got to know Sam until Uncharted 4. He wasn't even referenced in previous games. With the search for his brother, Nate has a solid motivation to go globethrotting besides earning money in the black market.
I have no problem with the movie using set pieces from various games at once. My problem would be if they try to cram every major set piece of the trilogy into one single movie. I doubt so, because I think they are aiming for a cinematic franchise.

It's a cool nod but a downgrade in a lot of ways.
I did not know Sully was from boston until Mark Wahlberg played him.
Not excited for it at all, I watched the trailer & it looked like they did zero work learning the characters, seems like they were just hitting one line after another without even knowing what makes the characters tick. I'm actually not interested in watching it at all.
Movie will be a disaster, any real fan of uncharted knows this movie is a cash grab. Uncharted is a flagship title for Sony, but they have no sense of direction with the movie.
The trailer sounded so off, all along, there is no chemistery at all between the two actors... It's okay if they don't look like the characters, alas even their relationship does not look like the one we know from the game. I'm so sad actually. such a waste..
I didn't have a problem with the trailer, I found it entertaining and to be honest I can see Mark Wahlberg as Sully, but he must have the mustache😑 And I get your concerns, they're well justified. I hope this movie doesn't flop so that we also get to see an older Drake on the big screens.
Keep your expectations low and you will be never disappointed

Chris Pratt and JK Simmons might've been better as the older Nate and Sully we're attached to. The two actors were great in The Tomorrow War and saw better chemistry between them opposed to Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg playing young Nate and Sully.

I don't think it looks awful, they have the main factors from what ive seen, treasure hunter, funny dialog, decent cgi, moments from the games and characters from the games. It looks like its going to be a fun movie, thats ALL you can expect from a video game based movie.
It looks like it’s set in its own continuity, which is fine (and *please* stop calling this a fucking prequel, everyone) but even as young Nate and Sully, they resemble nothing like the characters they’re portraying. Performance wise

Are you basing this on purely the what the actors look and sound like from the trailer? I get it though. If they cast Jackie Chan as Nathan Drake I'd probably feel the same way. But let's not forget that people have make their fair share of mistakes judging a movie by its trailer.
I’m more excited for the Uncharted movie than I am for The Last Of Us show. The uncharted movie looks like something new and cool, they aren’t relying to much on the nostalgia of the games and I think that’s it’s strongest quality

It's a great trailer... for a generic action adventure treasure hunting movie. It doesn't feel like Uncharted. The actors don't look like the characters, and it seems more like a retelling of the existing story from 4 games than just filling in the blanks and being accurate to the games. We've seen teenage Nate in Uncharted 3 and early 20s Nate in Uncharted 4, if this movie takes place between that... I mean it's not canon for the games, it's just a movie adaptation remake, which I wouldn't mind if Mark Wahlberg had a moustache and it just felt more Uncharted-y. Apart from the characters names and the Sic Parvis Magna ring and Nate's brothers mention, this could be a trailer for any other treasure hunting movie that is just using the some of the same set pieces as Uncharted 3

Nothing about Tom Holland matches with any version or age of Nathan Drake. Even if he manages to play the character perfectly it still wont work at all because nothing about Tom Holland matches with Drake physically. The voice alone is an obvious miscast. Its like if Tom tried playing Bruce Wayne/Batman its just impossible for it to work despite the performance quality because its a complete physical mismatch.
Also Mark as Sully is an awful choice, its obvious to everyone who's played the games.
This is just a massive cash grab attempt by Sony using Tom and Mark to attract millions of casual fans who know nothing about the Uncharted games...
