Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron presenting Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy with the Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay for "Spotlight" at the 88th Oscars® in 2016.
ok so spotlight only won the first and the last awards of the night, well, at least both are well deserved Love Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron, gorgeous women...
Well, MOONLIGHT also won the first and last awards of the night last year as well (although it won one more award in between as well (Adapted Screenplay)). The first award presented last year was Supporting Actor (which Mahershala Ali won for MOONLIGHT), and the last was Best Picture (won in an iconic moment by MOONLIGHT).
Considering the source, that’s, like, not very high praise at all. I mean it’s not like that guy wrote “A Few Good Men” or “The Social Network” or anything like that.
@@paperchasindude6578 The concept was great, but the execution wasn't as great. It's not a badly written movie, it's not a bad movie. But I mean, it's basically just searching for MacGuffins in a unique location. I feel like people give the writing too much credit based on the basic concept alone.
No. Hateful Eight should have been in instead of Inside Out. I love Sicario, but the script is very minimal that I can understand why it's not here. But if you had to argue it should be here, it should be here instead of Ex Machina.
Ex Machina winning VFX was a surprise to so many even to this day. IMO, it was a big middle finger to mainstream sci-films. I think Andy Serkis was surprised himself when he opened the envelope lol. 😆
Hi can someone answer this please? if a screenplay wins an oscar and that screenplay is based on an original story , does the original story writer get an oscar too? or is it just for screenwriters?! (despite the fact that what makes a great script is actually the story not crafting it with a software) Thanks for answering!
Let’s thank all the studios blah blah blah... use the fucking platform to accentuate the fucked up shit that has been going in and continues to go on unpunished! The movie was fantastic and the cast were phenomenal, but use your chance on stage to talk about the real problems! People give Kanye shit for talking too much, at least he talks truth and talks about what he feels! Spotlight was an amazing movie, and being and Irish catholic(not by choice) it resonated, but I personally feel like they took the credits personally and didn’t attribute it towards the victims. Amazing movie, GREAT cast 🖤
@@echohasbinokiller4 You see that I have stopped? Its been seven months? Maybe chime in before something becomes irrelevant? Don't come off so bossy either, maybe? Like you aren't working at UA-cam or anything. You're as important as everyone else here.
LOL IMDb voters can be retarded. And yes, Spotlight is an ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY. You're only thinking of original as in the concept. There's more to a script than it's concept.
0:34 Emily Blunt's laugh is just LIFE to my ears.
Jefferson Borges Sounds like an evil laugh from a horror movie.
It doesn't !
I'd love to see Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt in a movie together someday.
It might sound cliche but my dream in life is to win that award someday
Frank Laustin hey, go for it dude :,)
Omg bruh sameee ^^
To me it feels like a more honourable award than best picture, because it requires a lot of hard work :P
I feel you. Same but with Best Actor. Good luck to you and I hope we make a movie someday.
It’s mine too as well
Everyone out here going for these Oscars
Spotlight won 2 awards that night.
The First Award of the night.
&
The Final Award of the night.
First a Pulitzer then an Oscar. Scott Templeton is on a roll.

“It’s IN MY NOTES!!!”
I hate when the music starts playing. It's their one priceless moment in life and that too feels rushed away
Both Emily and Charlize deserved oscar nominations for their performances in Sicario and Mad Max
Congrats, _Spotlight!_ We'll see you at the end of the show, *_if you know what we mean._* ;)
+BlueFox94 :)
Excellent screenplay but shouldn't have won Best Picture
ok so spotlight only won the first and the last awards of the night, well, at least both are well deserved

Charlize Theron speaks twangy.

I think it also won film editing too. I may be wrong though.
Lmao. "Writers, we know you are the true backbone of the industry and we love you for it", then butchered the winner's name. Classic Hollywood.
"You're screenplay is perfect; you sons of bitches." - Aaron Sorkin, to Tom McCarthy & Josh Singer at the LA Film Critics Awards

Emily Blunt's diction though. That voice!
That's accent not diction.
That was one of the most deserved wins ever
Very true.
Charlize Theron is so elegant! Spotlight go go go!
I love Charlize in that dress 😍
@@coolc6379 She is so attractive.
1. Straight Outta Compton
2. Spotlight
3. Inside Out
4. Bridge Of Spies
5. Ex Machina
Ex machina was snubbed me thinks
Spotlight is a modern masterpiece. VERY WELL DESERVED OSCAR!
@Diego Pisfil Nope
Spotlight is excellent film
I so glad that film won Original Screenplay
Wouldn’t say it’s a masterpiece but still really good. The Revenant still should have won best picture.
Spotlight is incredibly deserving. But deep down, I badly wanted Inside Out to take this!
Same here.

They should give them much more time to speak
Was hoping for Ex Machina.
Hateful eight and sicario should have replaced bridge of spies and straight outta compton

Both movies have great screenplays!
They played the "interrupting music" right on the first category.
The writers of the best film were given less than 30 seconds to speak their minds
Just realized Tom McCarthy played Templeton in the wire
Hell of a lineup of movies.
The Hateful Eight should’ve been nominated and won, such a great film
I know! It’s one of my favorite films ever. I hate how it wasn’t even nominated

Straight Outta Compton
A movie about black guys, directed by a black guy.
But are the white that got a Oscar nod

@Diego Pisfil or Shaun The Sheep Movie
josh singer is an awesome guy!
A very excellent film! Well-made!

A rap movie getting and Oscar after Hustle And Flow and 8 Mile
