D is false. Tried it. Carried a blood bag for over a month in case I got caught in the zone. The blood bag only prolonged my suffering. But stripped naked before passing out in a bush and ran to a different location to die. Respawned and ran all the way back to Nadbor and got my gear back
That is one of the most requested things I see a lot, is fixes to cars. I'd love to see that too! It looks like they reduced the amount of toxic gas spawns at one time. But it does also look like both PC and Console admins will be able to easily adjust the values to make more or less toxic zones.
When driving on console drive in 1st person with zoom on! Steering becomes a bit hectic around corners but I zoom out when coming up to one! Knock on wood since I learned this I haven’t crashed a single time due to lag! And you can drive as fast as you want! Hope this helps!
NBC/CBRN filters are designed to be disposable. While there is a fair bit going on inside the filter, the main component that runs out is "activated charcaol". After some sort of chemical treatment process, charcoal becomes very absorbent and with a standard NATO 40mm filter like in game, that usually translates to about 6 hours of use. Obviously they made that way shorter for gameplay reasons, but yeah. While it may be possible to diy open and replace the activated charcoal in the filter and then reseal it properly, they're not made for it, and that's not anything any military even considers doing in an emergency as far as I've been able to see. That being said, DayZ is kind of a desperate situation, and maybe their can be a way to do it, and perhaps in game that'd could mean the filters will only 4 minutes if you do this, or something like that. Or there's a decent chance of failure, so you'll probably only be able to recycle 1in3 or 4 filters which then would be a full filter. Fortunately though, they don't even have to add some new activated charcoal item, since there are already activated charcoal tablets that you take to cure drinking unclean water IIRC. All they may need to do is just allow you to craft those with a disassembled filter and then boom, you got another few minutes!
I remember maybe in the mod the charcoal tablet description said they were for replacing filters in gas masks. Maybe that was just some general info though

It would seems to me that removing the flare before the drop would make looting in military and towns more nerve-racking/suspenseful. Theres something the gets unlocked deep in your chimp-brain when fumbling for your gas mask, running from infected in the middle of a strike. Its the best feeling in the game if you live. Wish there was more aha.
Toxic zones add a new dynamic to DayZ modded experience, that not only challenge the players, but also introduces a solid thematic scheme for the franchise. Perhaps DayZ waited a bit too long with this update? I feel like this will keep existing players engaged for a longer time, while also adding more reading material for new players. With DayZ standalone "modded" experience of these toxic zones, the concept can be further worked on to make new mod ideas, such as skins/dynamics/events. I think it's important to remember that Bohemia rarely makes big updates like this, reading the changelogs you will see that they focus mostly on bugs and anticheat. I think it's important to appreciate bigger game-changing updates like this, in the future, hope to see more stuff like this! Super cool update, but there is a lot more content to get out of the game in the future I think! :)
@@Nitno Maybe treasure maps that spawn randomly on the map, but that are rare, and where you have to go to the location given and dig up a container with a shovel and get a nice reward (maybe something cool to customize character with, or a starter gun with ammo). Think that would change the meta from hardlooting and loot cycling issues that are persistent in the DayZ world as it is. Perhaps even an in game achievement system, that can track your progress with stats for each time you spawn fresh. Like, on death screen you could see time survived, kills, zombie kills, infections/bacteria/sickness survived and cured, cause of death etc!

When I first started playing again after this update the sound of the artillery firing would scare the shit out of me because it sounds just like a player's mic feedback when they talk in game chat.
Kinda anoying you need a whole outfit. I think it would be better if you only need the whole outfit for the permeant ones, this way you could have a gas mask on you going to a town that might get bombed
I just had my first encounter with a toxic zone, and I'd figured only having a respirator was fine. Got to the other side with 5 cuts having bandaged 4 and barely had enough bandages to take care of them all.
I was looting a town with two friends and a gas bomb dropped in there, bad luck. We didn't had any NBC gear, not even gas masks. Two of us died, including me, just one was able to get out alive.
First time this happened to me was in Livonia. some small town it spawned me by.. and after i got al looted up, It happened! and I wasn't even aware of them being a new player... freaked me the hell out! and yeah I died fairly quick! lol
You won't see the flare lol. Unless you're always looking for one. Good luck. Also it's been said in the comments you can use a clean blood bad to cure this. This is accurate. You need a blood collection kit to collect your own blood and then an IV starter kit to make the deliverable blood bag. You MUST take your blood prior to any exposure or sickness. Just a heads up. If you don't plan ahead this game will destroy you.
I'm on my way to finally finishing a full set of NBC clothing, i just need the pants. I have a question though, you can simply swap the filters while the mask is still on your face, right?
Haven't played DayZ in about a year and I was in staroye looting when I heard artillery and a massive explosion then the toxic gas filled the city It was a really cool experience since it's been a while since I've seen a significant gameplay update to dayz but it freaked me to out too lmao
I just looked into it, those are actually just marking where you will be teleported to, if for example: You logged off in a city without a toxic zone active, then when you logged back in you are now in a random toxic zone, the game will teleport you to a "safe zone" which is outside of the gas.
Hello, thanks for the video and quick question. I was in a zone when suddenly gas bomb dropped on me. I instantly got a bleed but i managed to get out, bandaged myself and it seems i'm ok (20 minutes in the game, no coughing). How does that work, i thought i'm dead for sure
So toxic applies bleeds, if you inside long enough you also get a sickness. The sickness is what is the real killer, requires POX antidote. But just the cuts are regular bleeds you can bandage.
Yes actually. Also, if you log on into a Dynamic Zone it will teleport you to the edge of the zone. That way you don't start your day off with a nasty surprise. (Just keep in mind, when you you log off, it takes some time for your character to actually exit the world, it's not instant.)
You can seamlessly swap filters. Make sure in your inventory, you click the down arrow under the mask so the filters are shown. Drag a new filter on top of the old one.
I do like the new zones been to pav mili base twice now and nothing really, no suppressors and no m4’s for sure maybe I could’ve just been unlucky but I’ve also loot about 15 helis and got nothing good once and only I got an 60rnd mag everything else I’ve seen is some low garbo loot kinda sucks
Ah dang sorry to hear about the loot. There are quite a few items that only spawn in toxic zones now, so it should be worth it, but then again there is that chance to get super unlucky with the loot cycle.
I have all my NBC gear included mask however I've been all over the map including all the big military installations and I've only found 1 gas mask filter that was 50% used 😔
Dang! One method is you can hang out on the outskirts of a Toxic Zone and try to lure NBC Zombies into clean air, then loot them for a chance at filters. This is kind of dangerous though as you'll be making noise and can attract players.
I got gas poisoning at zelengorsk as i didn't know it was a random toxic zone. Ran around trying to find andidote injector . when i did at medical house it was just too late i died with it in my hand🤦🏼♂️
Actually SVD can be found outside of gas zones according to game files, but very rare, only a few on the map at a time. In the gas you'll find AKM, M4A1, VSS, ASVAL, and other helpful attachments.
I just got back in to days after like a year break. Came here to see what these zones are about. The only worry I have is if I build a base somewhere and this toxic zone appears wilst I'm there

@@andy.m.97 in Static toxic zones (not random ones) the loot is a lot better IF loot spawns, for example if someone else was just there and took all the good stuff. But in general, on paper, the loot there is a higher tier.
Toxic zones in console need to be fixed. I had full NBC gear on an was still getting cut, although it wasn't cutting me as fast as it would of without NBC gear. And the gas filter goes down way to fast. It should last as long as a 9v battery at the very least. I was 5 minutes in the zone and my filter was nearly half gone

I'm running my own server and the gas strike pretty much where I am. Like it hit in the same spot two time in a row when I was there. Feels like its chasing me.
I have a question I can't find the answer for, I was fully in NBC gear and was in the ship for about 4 min and all of a sudden my character started to bleed and got sick and died all the gear was only worn, not damaged gas filter was full, is there still only a shot time limit before i get poisoned? I also had no idea i could have ran upstairs on got some fresh air! and this was right before a server restart so I can't try to retrieve my stuff I was almost out of the zone when i died! Lol first time I experienced a toxic zone and I had been setting up for it, for almost a week! , I still have so much to learn, thanks for the vid, so again, is there a time limit even with all the NBC gear? thanks for the vid! Update: damn! ok well looks like I ran out of filter but I had it in my quick bar and was watching the white bar and it only had a tiny bit used of it, I think I should have looked in TAB menu.. to see the real amount left!
Hmm that is strange! Full nbc and gas mask with filter should not cut you. There must have been one piece missing or ruined. Zombies hits can ruin NBC. Ah just saw your update, yep I've run out of filter too before. One tip on PC is to drag your filter onto your hotbar and it will show you how much filter is left on the hotbar below.
@@Nitno Yeah man just like the compass I put it in the hot bar and it was still pretty much full, I should of ran up instead out down but I panicked and I should of just switched filters, Haha well lesson learned, I am gonna test the hot bar and see if it's actually going down before I go into any zones.

There´s a car Race Today on Server [EU] Peter´s Paranoia at 6 pm London Time. Cars for everyone and winner gets a Truck and a unique Weapon. You will all get Teleported to start.
@@Nitno first time I've tried it as well, not played dayz for ages, since these first came in, so will try again and let you know if it works, but yeah the first one was just outside the zone, second blood came from an alt with the same blood type at our base and neither cured it.

I just started to play dayz again after a while and while looting a random flare shot up I thought it was a player so I hid in a house then I hear A FUCKING BOMB explode outside and then the whole town got masked. I’m only alive by managing to run to the top of the police station to escape the gas.
I think to just force people to move around, although I agree with you. Also create situations where say 2 groups are fighting in a mili base, one is camping, and gas lands on them, it then creates an interesting dynamic where you have to choose to run outside the zone ect.

Unfortunately no, the loot in dynamic zones are the exact same as before the gas.

Ah dang sorry to hear about the loot. There are quite a few items that only spawn in toxic zones now, so it should be worth it, but then again there is that chance to get super unlucky with the loot cycle.
I have all my NBC gear included mask however I've been all over the map including all the big military installations and I've only found 1 gas mask filter that was 50% used 😔
Dang! One method is you can hang out on the outskirts of a Toxic Zone and try to lure NBC Zombies into clean air, then loot them for a chance at filters. This is kind of dangerous though as you'll be making noise and can attract players.

nope! You can mix and match colors!
I got gas poisoning at zelengorsk as i didn't know it was a random toxic zone. Ran around trying to find andidote injector . when i did at medical house it was just too late i died with it in my hand🤦🏼♂️

Yes, just drag the filter onto the gas mask currently equipped. (Don't take the actual mask off.)

Yes I believe it should (the addition of Pox Grenades ect)

I would think so yes. There are some buildings that you can get on that is above the gas. So I assume a base would work on there.

Actually SVD can be found outside of gas zones according to game files, but very rare, only a few on the map at a time. In the gas you'll find AKM, M4A1, VSS, ASVAL, and other helpful attachments.

Yep if that happens you need to run out asap. Maybe collect some NBC over time and stash em at your base too.

@@andy.m.97 in Static toxic zones (not random ones) the loot is a lot better IF loot spawns, for example if someone else was just there and took all the good stuff. But in general, on paper, the loot there is a higher tier.
I sit in the airfield and log in and out every 40 mins and I go almost two hole sets plus 3 nightvision

Toxic zones in console need to be fixed. I had full NBC gear on an was still getting cut, although it wasn't cutting me as fast as it would of without NBC gear. And the gas filter goes down way to fast. It should last as long as a 9v battery at the very least. I was 5 minutes in the zone and my filter was nearly half gone

How do you know if your combat gas mask is running out of air as you put it.
Good question, there will be a white bar under the mask in your inventory that will slowly deplete.

I'm running my own server and the gas strike pretty much where I am. Like it hit in the same spot two time in a row when I was there. Feels like its chasing me.

I have a question I can't find the answer for, I was fully in NBC gear and was in the ship for about 4 min and all of a sudden my character started to bleed and got sick and died all the gear was only worn, not damaged gas filter was full, is there still only a shot time limit before i get poisoned? I also had no idea i could have ran upstairs on got some fresh air! and this was right before a server restart so I can't try to retrieve my stuff I was almost out of the zone when i died! Lol first time I experienced a toxic zone and I had been setting up for it, for almost a week! , I still have so much to learn, thanks for the vid, so again, is there a time limit even with all the NBC gear? thanks for the vid! Update: damn! ok well looks like I ran out of filter but I had it in my quick bar and was watching the white bar and it only had a tiny bit used of it, I think I should have looked in TAB menu.. to see the real amount left!
Hmm that is strange! Full nbc and gas mask with filter should not cut you. There must have been one piece missing or ruined. Zombies hits can ruin NBC. Ah just saw your update, yep I've run out of filter too before. One tip on PC is to drag your filter onto your hotbar and it will show you how much filter is left on the hotbar below.
@@Nitno Yeah man just like the compass I put it in the hot bar and it was still pretty much full, I should of ran up instead out down but I panicked and I should of just switched filters, Haha well lesson learned, I am gonna test the hot bar and see if it's actually going down before I go into any zones.

@@Nitno I uh.... I asked around and asked the Mods from the DayZ subreddit to look through the files and according to the files they can only drop FILTERS and the ANTIDOTE P~OX, nothing else.
Can you swap filters while in gas without getting gas poisoning, if so how?
So on PC, you can simply drag the filter from your inventory to gas-mask slot to quick swap. I am not sure exactly the controls for that on console.

Yep! Same on PC. The toxic zones are few and far between, but you'll know it when you see it.
I have a base near balota airfield hopefully I don't have to move because of the toxic zones.
Hmm you should be fine there. At worst you'd get a temporary toxic zone that will go away.

@@Nitno first time I've tried it as well, not played dayz for ages, since these first came in, so will try again and let you know if it works, but yeah the first one was just outside the zone, second blood came from an alt with the same blood type at our base and neither cured it.

I just started to play dayz again after a while and while looting a random flare shot up I thought it was a player so I hid in a house then I hear A FUCKING BOMB explode outside and then the whole town got masked. I’m only alive by managing to run to the top of the police station to escape the gas.

I think to just force people to move around, although I agree with you. Also create situations where say 2 groups are fighting in a mili base, one is camping, and gas lands on them, it then creates an interesting dynamic where you have to choose to run outside the zone ect.
