Seeing someone else suffer through this and call it a shit job makes me feel better about my unavoidable endeavor.
Thanks for the video mate, helps a lot.
Got mine done the other week. Thanks for the help took me a 3 hours because you showed me all the difficult bits so i prepared 😎
No worries dude 😊. Filming it was my only enjoyment but by no means the shittest job I've done on the car 🤬
It took less than an hour to change it. Didnt lose the intake or EGR or anything more than the plastic things around. Just a tip, you can do it. But all the respect to you, you did a great job man! ✌🏻😊
I've got fat hands. Glad you found a faster route ✌🏼
Only working from above ? Or under the car?
Hello, I have one from 2004 and man always has something wrong, you fix something and something else breaks down .. I like it but it's maddening I encourage! greetings from Spain.
I've got a list longer than my arm of things to do on it 🤣
Oh yes, removing the intake manifold is always a treat...
The only way I can describe it, is a love-hate relationship :))). Thanks for the video, as I was wondering is it possible to remove starter motor from the top.
Best one yet, proper funny.
It's made the rest of my previous footage pretty redundant. Having the wireless mic has been next level
@@AshsGarageUpdates man I just love that you've settled into your role as a grumpy asshole, that plus the editing is comedy gold
@@JoeSiph I f#cking hate cars! Cheers tough dude, I have to have the sketches, otherwise it's just a guy swearing at a car.
Hi bro i have m57 535d and the car start bad first time very slow and end with no start second try start normal ,Do you think is the starter problem because the battery has a goos voltage...
I need to do mine I think, not looking foward to it, looks hard!
In the middle of doing this but cant seem to get any thing to fit all my ratchets are to tight on the fire wall ? What did you use buddy ?
I used a Blue Point 3/8" breaker bar. It was slightly thinner than the ratchet. Had to squeeze the firewall sponge back with my hand and sort of fed the socket head on at an angle. Took me a good half an hour to do it mind...
Hello mine has been cranking slow for a while ,iv also got a code aob4 engine start, start operation ,do you think it could be starter motor ,iv cleaned all earths and put a new battery on it and no change ,cheers
I'd check your engine earthing again by using some jump cables from the negative chassis terminal in the engine bay to a big chunky piece of metal on your engine. Try cranking it then.
Is this the alu or steel block m57?
Iv'e tried with some external torx wrenches, not having enough power to torque it. Iv'e tried with a socket wrench being to thick against the wall with pipes.
Tomorrow i'm trying with some more slim socket wrenches, hopefully after swearing alot i can get it loose. (also with the manifold still on, it can be done i think)
If you can get the small one on but you're struggling to get good torque, find out what deep socket fits snug over the handle of the ratchet, then add an extension bar to the socket and hey presto you got more torque to lever with a longer handle.
Either that or you need to be a bit more creative with your swear words...

@@AshsGarageUpdates yeah iv'e tried to extend it, the problem is that i can't get the wrench and the pipe fastened together on the bolt. Also, when i do get that on, wouldn't the bolt be in the way for the firewall/wrench when its halfway out?
@@kentnewfence thats why I was switched to a 10mm ratchet spanner until I could unwind it by hand.
Just watch that part of the video carefully. I've tried to include all the steps I took (including dropping the little extension made up for the handle).
@@kentnewfence Sounds like you need different tools. You could risk it and just use a 10mm ring spanner... and you undo the rest by hand
Wicked video,I’ve got the same car but on 20’ wheels:) love to see how to replace the alternator:)
Jesus! 20"??? 🥴 how does it ride?
I'm hoping I don't need to show you how to replace that 🤬 😅
@@AshsGarageUpdates yeah go on do the video?:) it rides really well, wheels were already on the car when I purchased, 285/25/20" on the back and 255/30/20" on the front, what do you think?
@@furryeyelid I'll do the video if mine packs in! 🤷🏻♂️😅
@@furryeyelid I'm struggling to see how 20s fit under the car! The 19s on mine have just about made it into the arches!
@@AshsGarageUpdates it's not under the arches at all, I'll take a short video today and post it so you can check it out, I'll put video up later today
What's your suspension set up? Love it.
great job great video i will do my e93 320i job the some or more easy? thank you
Never seen in the bay of a 320i. As long as you know all the swear words, you'll be fine 😉.
@@AshsGarageUpdates yesterday i try it but i give up:) i wait till the end:) thank you a lot
SUPER
Nice 1
Was there any slow cranking before it completely stopped working
No. All it did was not crank intermittently then one day just never cranked again.
A slow crank sounds like a voltage issue dude.
Was the starter?? Mine its smoking and not Turning fast enough
Does anyone have any recommendation on what tool to use for the bottom e12 on a M57 E90?
Read the comments below, had a few discussions about different tools to fit. You could go straight in with a 12 sided 10mm ring spanner or buy a specific e12 spanner; unless you're completely fucked for space on qn E90, then you might have to slightly drop the subframe and lower the gearbox slightly...
@@AshsGarageUpdates i ended up using a E12 spanner bent at 45 degrees about 30mm from the end. Tight one that was
what brand starter did you go with?
Lucas
Wow,,my e46 330cd not sure if bad starter 🤔 161k miles now,
fucking great job bro and you are one funny guy lol i do have loads of fuck this fuck that wen working on my e60 it has to be said to get hard things done great channel bro
Thanks dude. I've had to take a break from editing but I'll be back on with catching up soon. Big changes to the garage and cars, plenty of stupid shit to come 😉
DO NOT USE 10MM TO CRACK IT LOSE... IT STRIPS THE HEAD AND YOUR FUCKED.. Buy the e12 spanner instead... Top tip. It is OK once lose to use 10 mm rachet tho.
Diversity antenna😂😂😂
Want to change mine for me? 😂
I've ran out of swear words so I'd would struggle to get another one done.
You should be able to follow the video. Fairly straight forward!
In the middle of doing this but cant seem to get any thing to fit all my ratchets are to tight on the fire wall ? What did you use buddy ?
I used a 3/8 slim blurpoint breaker bar. I had to push the spongey sound deadening back with one hand. It was extremely fidly but I got it.
@@AshsGarageUpdates say still stuck lol i brought a set or e torx long reach spanner types but still stuck 😂 i may buy a blue point bar then cheers for the info buddy
@@jackmclauchlan9699 Just try and fit the tool like you hate the car, and it should fit.
@@AshsGarageUpdates ill get a barker bar a 3/8 as got more leverage and bit more play as the head moves may be better off that way as the spanner type i have currently have no give at all
@@AshsGarageUpdates update buddy did it with a e torx long reach spanner got it out with ease once i modified the spanner
