Your welcome Sandy! Hope your having a great day! Will I see you in the Stoney Ridge Live stream tomorrow? I would like to win one of those cast iron skillets!
Brian, very good point. I worked for a factory built fireplace supplier/installer, and we had a granite surround installed with the wrong adhesive, and it literally soaked into the stone and ruined it. Inexperience can often do this.
Some people say that you should use 100% silicone on an acrylic fiberglass tub drain. I'm sure it seals, but will you be able to get the drain off the next time you want to change it?
I was going to use gorilla glue to seal my faucet kitchen good thing I seen your video my brother used some black glue of who knows what it was like to said over time the glue will will spread and that's exactly what happened I was looking the glue or whatever my brother put looks like black glue and now the faucet is loose. So should I use ultra one? I'm a first timer.
It really depends on the type of surface of your counter top. You could get the ultra to cover all bases. I hope this helps. Please reach out if you have anymore questions.
Yeah I would not use putty on shower drains ever. Always go silicone. It will get old crack and wash away. Have made lots of repairs because of putty on a shower drain.
I used Stain Free putty and I got grey stains all around my faucets on my white natural stone countertop. I don't know if it was because it wasn't sealed yet (prblably) but now the guy who fix the stains with a lot of work with acetone, told us to don't use any kind of putty, that even the stain free can get absorbed by the stone and leave marks. I'm trying to find a washer or gasket now
I'm sorry to hear that. I will have to do some testing with that. you could go with silicone. that is what some of faucet manufacturers recommend these days.
@@ThatFixItGuy Hey, do you know if I can use a rubber gasket instead of putty? it is for a sink valves and faucet, I don't want to take the risk of using putty again. I can make a custom size gasket, but I'm not sure if gaskets is the appropriate way to go. Thanks!
@@jugodenaranja2010 i purchased stain free putty and had no idea it could cause stains. My faucet is slight moving around so I thought of using plumber putty. The other option I was thinking is to use some caulking.
Why ever use regular putty as opposed to just non-staining putty? I don't see what the purpose of the putty is that stains when there's non-staining available? Seems like the smart thing to do would be to use non-staining putty for everything (stainless steel, granite, marble, etc). Is there any reason (besides saving $1.50) to use the non staining putty?
It is a bit of a different consistency, but other than the price Nothing. So simple and I never really considered that. Always nice to have someone else’s prospective. Thank you.
Man me too! They could make a two use container and kill it in the DIY game I think. Maybe I will see if I can make some that fix it guy plumbers putty small packs!
I love how the container states that it will never harden and never Crack. How do they figure? Goes to show you companies will write whatever bullshit on their labels. True or not.
Plumbers putty will actually ruin some of the new shower pans like Delta. They recommend a gasket instead of silicone or putty! Read the installation instructions very closely!
Never knew...thanks for the important info!

Oh yeah Bryant this can end up being a real eye sore. And if you are the owner you always end up obsessing over it. Thank you for this info!
WOW, I'VE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM BUT THAT IS GOOD TO KNOW. THANK YOU.
Thanks for the tips Brian! Never knew that there was more than one kind of plumbers putty!
Your welcome! I felt like it was a good tip to share.

Very good tip. I’m looking for something to seal the faucet.
Thank you. I hope we can help again.
Dear Fix it: Good video: Is the best putty helpful in filling up a slightly cracked leaking base p-trap kitchen sink?
All the warnings I have seen on plumbers putty is Don't use it on plastic. Can sta put Ultra be used on plastic?
Great tips brother. I didn’t know there was different kinds
Try to always have both available just in case. I do wish you could get this stuff in smaller containers.
That was helpful. Ty
Good info! Thanks! -Ed
Thank you Ed! I’ve really been loving your live streams bro.
Thanks for the information Brian I did not know there was a difference 👍
Yeah Britt it can make stone look real ugly fast. Hope you and the family are well.
Any recommendations my base where my kitchen faucet knobs have chipped off

So witch one to use on fiberglass tub and enamel sink?
I was wondering why it recommended no oil base putty on a PVC shower drain. You think that's the same reason?
Yeah I would not use putty on shower drains ever. Always go silicone. It will get old crack and wash away. Have made lots of repairs because of putty on a shower drain.
Great info, thanks!
Your welcome Scott! Thank you for watching!
Can you use plumber's putty for plastic such as pvc, abs, and pex?
Yea you can.

I asked that same question a year later. I should have read further before asking.
Is it similar to sailors putty?
I really needed this! Thanks.
Your welcome! So glad we could help! Thanks for watching!
What's happen if I use regular putty in a granite ?
Thank you! I subscribed to your channel
Thank you for subbing! We really appreciate it. Hope we can help again.
Very informative. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching
Plumbers putty is for dinosaurs
Lol. I’m pretty sure I have Dino DNA! Old school plumbers used this stuff for much more I bet!
I just wish that "Plumbers Putty" was available in smaller sized Containers, as it hardens over time, and is unusable...
Man me too! They could make a two use container and kill it in the DIY game I think. Maybe I will see if I can make some that fix it guy plumbers putty small packs!
Its like $2 for the big container. THats probably the cheapest supply you will be using
I love how the container states that it will never harden and never Crack. How do they figure? Goes to show you companies will write whatever bullshit on their labels. True or not.
But not UV safe... for outdoor sealing compared to using Silicone!
I have never tried to use it outside. Thank you for sharing that!

That is always a good call. Manufacturer specifications are awesome.
Bruh wtf is this video I'm literally just trying to use plumbers putty to stop a leak
