@@kevinp9110 It's very tied to a myth involving Isis and her husband while being very much about ideals. I would interpret it as a short term relationship that ended abruptly. There's the whole idealisation of the relationship "She's gonna save me/call me baby" and then towards the end of the song that quick cut where she seems to vanish. It's all up to how people personally see it so there is no one story behind it, that's what makes poetry and music beautiful. It makes everyone feel different things and gives everyone an insight into themselves because of how they interpret it.

Either he likes the song off the best hits of van or he likes the album astral weeks. if he does like that album he would definitely atleast retrospectively see that like real people do is a very similar title to a song on that album and cherry wine is quite a salient image in that album and that this riff is pretty much the same chords as in sweet thing which you could see in his cover around 1:30. especially as all those references are from the same album. i also think as a young soulful irish singer theres probably a good reason to not mention van morrison much in the media. could be just happy coincidence though.

I personally like the way he doesn't look like he's 'into it'. It just makes me love him more. I know he's a bit of a quieter, awkward person so I feel like that contributes. But as a singer, it amazes me that he can reach all those notes so effortlessly, unlike me who has to make a stupid face. He definitely has the singing technique down, doesn't need help there :) he makes BEAUTIFUL music, cannot complain.

Seems this comment section is no longer active. I come back and listen to this song very often, like every day. This was my older sisters favorite song. She had a long term boyfriend and wanted to settle down and get married and have kids and stay a house wife. She was telling me this while visiting. She played this song and told me it was her favorite, and how she wanted to name her kids Jackie & Wilson. She left back to her home town. We talked on the phone a few times after that. She passed away a few months later. I miss her, so much. I think about her everyday. It’s been nearly two years now and I still listen to this song and think about that last car ride we had together.

This man is a gift and so very rare. He's has the most beautiful singing and song writing talent where he can turn any message into an interesting song, comes across as a lovely man in all his interviews and is also really gorgeous
Saw him in Seattle last night. OH MY GOD he's wonderful! Still playing the little venues because the gigs were made before everyone discovered how absolutely fantastic he, the songs, the band, everyone is. He's coming back to much bigger venues in spring. Drop EVERYTHING and go!
I love him because his songs actually have meaning- unlike the cheesy pop music these days. It really sucks how many artists don't focus on the lyrics in music and actually being able to preform the song- if it weren't for Hozier I would have lost my faith in all humanity.
