    Frying in sesame oil will damage the taste - instead, use peanut oil or canola to fry, and dab sesame oil into your sauce or over the top when finished! A little goes a long way :)

      It's probably untoasted sesame oil which is much more neutral tasting than the toasted sesame oil that is used for flavor accent.

    I would have also added Kalamata olives and thick slices of cucumber to the bowl that had the feta cheese and pickled red onions since it's a really nice Greek flavor. Fresh ginger keeps for quite a while in the fridge I would never use powder because it just doesn't have the same flavor

    I'm confused as to why these are called Buddha bowls? As a Buddhist myself with a dad that is super religious and follows Buddha's way, a Buddhist meal doesn't contain any meat, garlic, or onions.

    • @richardyocum353

      Because people love to just steal someone's culture and just ha-ha and commercialize it up. It makes people view the word Buddha differently. It's a word rather name that is supposed to carry weight in the world, but they couldn't care less.

    • @harveyspecter1855
      @harveyspecter1855 2 роки тому +27

      @@jenna-eq5pc you must be kidding right? Your ignorance is clearly showing. The big guy is budai. Gautama buddha in reality, by the time he achieved enlightenment was extremely thin. He was performing ascetic penance. That resulted in him fasting a lot. Being from the kshatriya family(ruling and warrior caste) even before he became a monk, he was still extremely fit.

      Buddhists can eat onions and garlicss, also Buddha never told you can't eat non-veg, he told one shouldn't kill and eat or any animal shouldn't be killed for you to eat. You can eat non veg that's already dead or is not killed for you(like from a butcher you ask to kill a chicken for you). Buddha told this because monks ate what was given to them as bikshu which means they go around with their bowl to each person and people who are ready will give them whatever they have at home as monks can't buy something for themselves, so people are giving it out free as their offering to a biku so a monk shouldn't be perticular about what he/she gets. They can't say 'oh I don't eat this'. That's why Buddha made that law. Also as a fact, Buddha died from food poisoning after eating mushroom and pork which was offered to him by a poor woman. He knew that was stale but still had it, atlast Buddha died of food poisoning and dissentry which was a serious and common cause of death in early India.
      This same is mentioned by His Holiness Dalai Lama, his favourite dish is pork and he mentions how his brother told him that his mother while visiting him brought his favourite pork that she went to the butcher and bought rather than buying pork that's already killed not particularly killed for you(which is followed by almost all Tibetan Buddhists).
