It continues to amaze me how people like Blum and DeSantis who can trace their family starts in America through Ellis Island have such sway on the lives of people whose Black ancestors were here before America was even a country and the free labor from the same Black ancestors that made America what it was that led to an Ellis Island gateway in the first place for the rest of the world. And no one, especially the Dems have the sauce to point that out publicly and hammer that point home.
Blacks were not the first people In the Americas it was Indigenous Indians. Then the Spaniards came and brought with them African slaves. The island was named for Manhattan merchant Samuel Ellis, who owned it in the 1770s. In 1808 the state of New York sold the island to the federal government, and it was used as a fort and a powder magazine. It served as the nation’s major immigration station from 1892 to 1924, after which its role was reduced; during that period an estimated 12 million immigrants passed through Ellis Island, where they were processed by immigration authorities and obtained permission to enter the United States. A fire in 1897 razed the original wooden buildings, and all records were lost. The U.S. Treasury rebuilt the processing centre in fireproof materials, and in 1900 the new main building was opened.
I agree the goal and purpose of the Fearless Fund is Exemplary and they want to help anyone who may be oppressed because of their nationality or color. Everybody wants to call America the worst place in the world for people of “color” (this makes me laugh because every person has a color to their skin so why do we think we need to divide ourselves), This country is better then most and everyone who worked hard and persevered (not using race or gender to complain) over the past 50 years became successful and have a better quality of life as evidenced by this woman, who has started Fearless Fund….She is paying it forward.

There's a difference between discrimination and "focus" on helping people who constantly are left behind, falling in between the cracks. This suit is very hateful act without first cleaning up the discrimination that exists against even qualified black ppl in business loans, appraisals and property value discrimination, hiring discrimination which causes NGOs to pop up and create funding to help black ppl, asian pl, hispanic people. We all need to support this woman. That "Blum" man is betting on this going to the united states supreme court so he can completely amputate communities of color from helping others of their race get the funding they need as white men and women (no hate) disproportionately continue to hold the market access/eligibility to the entire whale's share and more of opportunities as so it was which brought affirmative Action into existence.
Blum got (likely paid) a bunch of Asian and White women to apply for the grant, knowing that one of the eligibility criteria was that the funding was for Black women. When none of the Asian or White women were selected, Blum filed the lawsuit claiming racial discrimination. Blum is a piece of work. Where's the Jewish community to condemn Blum??
Nothing wrong with black women supporting each other. Period. Are asians supporting black owned businesses? Ofcourse not. They support their own community. Should they be sued also?
It seems like Asians and Latinos are also benefiting from this fund as she had stated in the interview, as well as fighting as foot soldiers for Blum. I saw no Asian Americans standing up for her in any of the comments though.
This is what people do to derail change to the status quo. There are many and plentiful competent and talented people from which to chose within every demographic. Responding to another comment regarding standards.
Why is he only suing the AA foundations? There are 10 funding groups for Asian-only applicants, and let us not forget those that are for Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and the list goes on. He doesn't want discrimination (so he says) against whites and Asians, but Mr. Blum isn't suing these foundations for discriminating against other ethnic groups.
Because it sounds like it’s the usual old generational hate against Blacks. They have 99.5%, and we have less than 1%, but they want us to have 0%. They don’t want to trade their 99.5% for our tiny amount, but they want to see us @ ZERO %, which would be the same as when we were Slaves!
Exactly. Why choose one small fund targeting African Americans? Is this the only organization "discriminating " against white people? Come on, with the selective outrage.
Imagine an educated successful competent sharp Black woman being scared, of a lawsuit... It's almost laughable if it weren't so sad and pathetic. Black history in America has been a neverending saga of getting things done no matter what the law says and overcoming all resistance to justice. She was made for this work. You go sis!
A potential solution or a good start to address the issue, if the crux of the matter is indeed race, could involve changing the language for the fund designation to eliminate any mention of race and focus solely on specific eligibility criteria unrelated to race, such as being descendants of slaves in the United States of America. By doing so, it may be argued that this modification effectively removes the explicit reference to race from the fund's criteria.

I read Edward Blum's background & apparently his family faced discrimination because of their jewish background & now he is doing the same thing----discriminating against another ethnic group. He also (or used to) is apart of the Federalist Society. He has not targeted any other ethnic group or the programs that fund/invest in these groups when they come to the US (taxpayer dollars, public, private, nonprofit, etc.). I hope they countersuit this dude & his organization.

So Asian Americans have the same thing in their community. Latino Americans have the same thing in their community. Native Americans have the same thing in their community. But yet they want to target a group for black women by black women. I don’t think that it’s discriminatory for groups that have certain things in common to band together to help one another out, especially when you are in the minority in a country with such a rich racial history and biases that are systemic like the United States of America. We continuously have evidence that black and brown people are discriminated against in the financial sector of the United States of America. Let me take a huge guess there’s a white old conservative man behind this? The man on the top of the food chain the man who has and had had everything handed to him, is caught up in his feelings that there’s an organization for black women by black women, some things don’t change
Your huge guess is correct: his name is Edward Blum and he’s been filing these types of lawsuits since the 1980s. This is what Blum and his organization does
He needs to be counter sued for discriminating in these lawsuits and not going after other funds set aside for other minority demographics.
