I've had 3 of my accounts perm banned due to Apparent *Macroing* including my 18 Year old account, and my appeals get ignored everytime, i've been literally trying to get these accounts unbanned for the past 2 years and they do absolutely nothing. This is nothing new, Jagex have always been extremely dumb in this territory.
Imagine spending 10k plus hours to get banned and no appeal

Imagine manually spending 10k+ hours on a game that's gradually dying...... OR multiple accounts 10k+ hours. I love RS but for this very reason, I don't hate the botters. Everyone has a life, job and family to take care of now, I don't play but if I did, I generally don't have as much time as some of the other people who play the game. Some content is kinda scummy to bot, but spending 250+ hours getting 99 agility or any other pointless 99 is just self-damaging when at the end of the day, when the game dies, we wont get that time back. At the end of the day, its a game and games are meant to be played to be ENJOYED. Enjoy it while we are here, no point in being pissed about someone else enjoying a game the way they want to.

The "send us a physical letter" was just for serving a lawsuit, not for appealing bans. Which is more reasonable.
whats wild is (assuming the guy isn’t lying) he didn’t threaten legal action he just appealed his ban and they made a bunch of snarky comments about the TOS and essentially how they have the right to ban you for 0 reason and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Considering my new character on Jagex account got banned after 4 hours of gameplay and only killing goblins and chopping trees, I'd say Jagex is screwed if they don't fix their banning system.
Oh, and btw, I ran past the 10-20 Steven bots on my way to do said training. You know, the same ones that have been in the game for months :D

The amount of money they make from botters that also keep the economy alive is not a small amount. They could solve it but they'd be deliberately throwing away money, the higher ups know it so they won't ever fix it. They just have to make it "look like" they are concerned about it. Jagex is a business, the fact is botters make them money and we play alongside them. Money is first to a business once they've secured the customers

Many years ago, I decided to make a lvl 3 skiller account. I traded it some feathers and got 70+ fishing within a couple days because I'm a grinder. Next day the account gets PERMA banned with no option for appeal, reason listed was macroing. Still don't have a skiller
I lost my max pure and my main was temp banned for RWT major.
All I did was transfer 100m from my pure back to my main. No other trades, no actual rwt, didn’t talk to anyone else, nothing.
Max pure was perma and unappealable, but wasn’t even manual.
@@FormerGovernmentHuman Yea, if you trade over a certain amount of gold, it gets auto flagged. So you can only trade in about 100k increments or so :D
my main got false banned in september for macro major, denied appeal. 5 years of work gone as i was just getting to late game and no way to get it back.
spent 3k hours, 2100 total, untrim slayer cape, just to get banned perm with no appeal. my dumbass got trade scammed so that flagged me for rwt, granted getting scammed is my fault, but now i lost my whole account. jagex just flat out ignores or auto replies everything. fix your shit jagex. this is pathetic

Same happened to me. I did my appeal and got my access back, it took a couple of days. Whoever hacked my account did some quests and skilling

I've been hacked and banned. Did an appeal and all my appeals have been denied. Do reasoning what so ever from Gagex.
how they ban people? thats the question.. there is zulrah bots with hundreds of thousand kc and not banned, but they ban random people..this issue is not novadays.. this issue started long time ago.. and how they not ban BOTS, but ban people. this is fkin strange. How do they ban? It's an automatic bansystem. [X] reports will get you only minitored... A ban because of rwt is not that they can see or controll it, it's because of the seller. Recent traded accounts get flagged and later (perm) banned.
Fun fact.. Always spend ALL your gp! Jagex will always auto take your cashstack, nothing else...
Bots dont even get reported anymore lol.. people got used to it and just let them do their thing...

When the workings are exposed it'll show how incompetent Jagex truly is.
Jagex needs a proper anti cheat team who does nothing but monitor reports but doesn't have a 3 second time limit. Proper investigations need to be made on reports, which will prolong ban appeals but this will ensure a higher ban success rate and fewer false bans.
I used a bot once for 5 minutes and was permanently banned for 10k cooking xp... Never botted since and made new accounts, main, iron, alts ect. I recently appealed my ban saying I apologized for breaking the rules, its one of the options to click, and I wasn't instantly denied. After seeing gold farmers get unbanned it salts the wound

This is the reason why I started botting. I had 8 years old main account false banned, and i don't see a reason to do that again. So far I have 27 appeals accepted.
they false banned me too over a year ago, i havent played since, that incompetent hack jagex beano claimed they manually review all appeals, this video is proof they dont.
I had a friend/co-worker who did some RWT, banned for 2 days, and nothing happened afterwards. He was even able to appeal, and it got granted. He kept all his gp and items, and even admitted to me that he bought 400m.
Easily real, acc appeal is easily DDOSable via spam of cheaters, legit players are fucked

Penguinturbo/ratphetamine is still banned, uim that plays live on twitch. Not sure what jagex has going on but damn its not looking good
If you report too many bots they'll ban you for the same thing because bot farms will mass report you.
Just play the game, don't chat in game so you don't get a mute. Never report a bot so you don't get a target on your back. Play only on 1750 total skill plus worlds to be more likely to be with real players. Avoid the wilderness as there are rolling bot farms that clear out busy areas on the 5 minute marks, if you fight back and kill the bots you get mass reported.
I was hacked on an account, it even said it logged in from Switzerland and I'm in the US. I appealed it and denied.
I botted as a 12 year old to train woodcutting. That account has been banned for over 15 years even though I've appealed but these guys can get away with it today smh
Crazy you say that my main 1 year ago... nearly maxed... got banned when I was no lifing agilty... got perm banned appealed was denied, was going to try contact them through twitter but just didn't see any point.

So if you ever get banned for botting all you need to do is appeal from a different IP, either a VPN or rebooting your modem if you have dynamic IP from your ISP... This is sad...
Not exactly. You have to do the appeal from your original IP (where the account was made). And do the botting in different IP. So in a nutshell you make an account, do the tutorial island, u swap on the VPN and play. When u get banned, u turn the VPN off and do the appeal. So if u currently have a legit account that have never botted, if u don't use VPN and u get banned, it's permanent ban and appeals are ignored. That's what happened, to my 8 years old main account.
I keep making new defence pures and ill get like 60 defence kicking monks working from home, while also playing my main and the defence pure gets banned

You will never see any company provide evidence for bans regarding games integrity (botting, hacking), it gives botters all the informations they need and gives zero benefit for jagex.

Well companies like this don't care about the customer, only how much they can stuff in their pockets. Playing this game is risky, as their is a good chance you will be banned hundreds of hours into your account. Gl :)
Got a temp ban on my ironman for botting back in Jan this year when I was grinding revs...tweeted at jmods for days for about a month and gave up.
My ban came the day after i started ragging rev bots to free up spots at quads. Never used any unauthorized clients, plugins, botting scripts, you name it.
Luckily it goes from appeal denied to quashed after a year (from what I read) so now I'm avoiding rev caves like the plague in fear of getting perm'd
I dont care too much about people botting fishing, mining, runecrafting or w.e but the issue is when bot scripts are able to do endgame pvm content, like why do anything in the game if a bot is allowed to run free
right? i dont even report real players botting, just the toxic ones that spam bullshit and ruin the high level pvm

It's actually wild asf how little Jagex cares about the player base. They really are out of pocket for not addressing this. I can forgive mistakes, but blatantly ignoring a system of theirs that effects all of us potentially is such a terrible look. Do better.

The osrs ban system is a bit like when you’re driving & a cop starts driving behind you & you know you aren’t doing anything illegal but you get some irrational thought through your head like fuck what if I got a body in the trunk or I am doing something illegal even tho you’re not.. That’s how I feel with the banning system like I know I’m not doing anything wrong but what if I am so not overlord an I didn’t even know it😭😭

This has been going on for so long. One of my brother's accounts got a temporary ban for allegedly botting as well and I can guarantee you a 100% he never ever botted but they won't respond, they won't show the evidence. it's really horrifying. We both have mains with a couple of 100 days of gameplay and we are horrified that one day they would get wrongly banned. It would really be heartbreaking..

Lots of people writing their own basic python scripts with the help of chatgpt for botting. They still get caught easily and I’d bet a ton of the “false bans” are people who made their own script and can’t believe they got caught
Meanwhile my friend who has never botted a day in his life gets banned for botting… which blows me away. As someone that USED to bot with over 50 accounts at one time Jadex’s bot detection and auto appeals has always been HORRIBLE. Usually only 1 bot out of 10 would get an unappealable ban in the course of a month botting.
They even try to do IP bans but those fail due to VPNs.
The best anti botting they used to do was the skill reset back in the day. It would frustrate me to no end as it forced you to move a bot to its own area to start the level grind again. Most times I would just write it off. Honestly, They should return to that but lock that skill or skills from gaining exp for like a few weeks. Would solve 99% of botting issues.
But I 100% believe these are real as the appeal messages I used to send would be the most random BS like “Let me enjoy the skill slavery with my bots” or something stupid.

too much automation. the false bans is likely botters spam-reporting and getting the system to do the rest
Imo a better solution would having a small team keep a closer eye on raids and other end game content but lean into us being older with less time so bots dont really impact us. Example lean into afk gameplay for lower xp rates. If people can afk for 6 hours their playerbase will skyrocket adding value to the company.

They are false banning players and unbanning only visible players. Really hate the hostile enviorement the playerbase has build, where jagex gets away with this. There needs to be better player support for fixing these things.

Did they ever go back and stop banning people for trading between players? My friend plays, and if I let him borrow my T-Bow I'm afraid there might be a chance that we get banned because if he trades with someone in his guild who just happened to real world trade, the system would check who was connected to the RW trader and who those other people were trading with and ban everyone linked to them like they did a while back.
getting banned in runescape is part of the nostalgia. see when you get falsely banned you get to go over to the library and apply an appeal. big brained
My first original OG account with over a year of playtime between rs2/rs3/OSRS was hacked and banned when I got really into an ironman account and hadn't logged into the main for a while.
I appealed twice and can't appeal again.
Its name was my (pretty common) last name with no numbers or spaces, so it sucks that I can't even get that back...
It had 2fa, but was using an email which was deactivated, so it wasn't receiving emails. I have no idea how it was even hacked. I explained this in my appeal but now I assume it wasn't even looked at...
If a human reviewed the account's activity I'm confident they could find evidence of my innocence.
I can say for certain jamflex does read some ban reports. I was banned for RMT and it was appealed. I said some less than professional things in my appeal and they wrote back in the appeal “racist and sexual harassment is not acceptable towards mods” I have the screenshot to prove. After they denied appeal they perm banned me for my appeal
it's not a new issue, Jagex have been doing this for years. My main on RS2 was banned when they released the "new" botting bashing thing and they told me to essentially go fuck myself because they don't make mistakes.
I made a screen clicker on python. Takes control of my mouse and clicks certain parts of my screen on timers to do simple repeative task. Like smithing and crafting. I added in randomness in times and click areas and use it for about a month and no ban. Use it for hour or 2 at a time while i play xbox
5:50 I got the same exact message. Was hacked on my main and the hacker botted my account and they sent me the same email after denying like 3 times.
My pal works as staff remember for discord channel that sells cheat plugins, clients, and scripts. He said you would be surprised the amount of high level pvmers/pkers, streamers, and content creators he’s had to provide licenses to use their clients and plugins.
as an rs3 player, I fear playing old school because I could get falsely banned and lose all my progress in rs3 as well. So stupid. I’ve never had problems like this playing rs3

If you turn your attention to the very beginning of the video, I'm certain i state that these may not be real, but there are a lot of them and it would be a stretch to have this fabricated, mix that in with the large amount of accused false bans at the moment and the fact that Jagex's original claim to only have 30~ false bans at the start of the year to already be well over tripled, and we have seen reputable content creators being false banned, I think its more than fair to have this discussion, I did not take these images at 100% truth and clearly stated that numerous times, but I appreciate your opinion and your concerns have been noted

I used to bot, got some accounts with similar appeal reactions. Since they are perm banned after a new ban, i can provide login details and u can see it for yourself if you wish.
I genuinely believe someone at jagex is stealing players accounts then selling the gold and banning those accounts for macro major.
I must of got lucky a year ago, I made a pure and swapped my tbow to it from my main almost daily to pet hunt .
Perm Banned my 10k hour main for an autoclicker. meanwhile, obvious script bots run rampant.

You can delete botting from Runescape overnight, but lets be honest, half the playerbase is buying and selling gold. You could remove free trade but the community is so unbelievably dumb that they cry about it the moment someone mentions it.

@KingCondor I got false banned on my 99 mage account that I use to alc with my feet while I work. Yes, I taped the bottom of a mouse so it doesn't move and I would alc all day long while working. I appealed because they said I was using 3rd part software, despite using Runelite and the main client. I can't make another appeal because it is locked out. I realize this is the typical "I swear I wasn't botting" response you see on reddit, but I truly wasn't doing anything but alcing with my toe lmao. Is there any other way to appeal now that I have once? I feel like they said they were looking into changing the system after all the false bans, but haven't heard anymore on this.
The appeal system works like that because it's operated by Computer, there is no human involved, I don't remember on top of my head when this was stated, but I have a former jmod Mat K in record, stating that the system is completely automated, and it checks for 3 steps. 1 Did this account commit this Crime, 2 Was the account under the hijack, 3 Was the penalty justified? All 3 steps have to confirm in order for Robot to Deny the appeal and. VPN covers your ass so Step 2 fails, yes account was hijacked, appeal accepted. Remember These are Words from Mat K's mouth.

Bots are keeping the game alive. They know what they’re doing.
I might be an idiot but: we already have the volunteer Pmod system, why not use them. Every single pmod I know would happily dedicate half a hour a day/week/month what ever Jagex decides to review appeals.
I wish Jagex would address the mechanism that’s causing these bans. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s an approved client or a client tool that was downloaded.
Vpns need to be banned from video games altogether.

can confirm that they unban botters, at the beginning of the release of oldschool ( was still young and stupid) I botted on my first account that i had ever made, waited abit and then appealed the ban and got unbanned.
I have 2 accounts that got false banned. One was in 2018, which is still banned to this day.
They perm banned my account for botting when all I did was afk blast furnace pump lol, jagex are unhinged man

For each account with 10 successful appeals he probably has 50 accounts that were insta denied on first pffence. Each appeal is 50/50 chances of getting appeal accepted.

ultimately the main issue is that the OSRS team just doesn’t have the resources to handle bans “efficiently”. The entire anti-cheating team is less than 5 people afaik so there’s literally no way they _could_ read every appeal/ban every obvious bot. With enough people they wouldn’t need to _solely_ rely on automation like this. It’s still a necessary tool but automation always needs human review and they just don’t have enough people to do that.

Not sure who was it but I saw a video not too long ago where somebody did an interview with botters and this is a genuine strategy. They blatantly bot with a different IP to maximize profit and then appeal and repeat until they eventually get properly permad.
yeah i got banned for botting but it was because my account was actually hacked lol. i was so confused why the account was banned because i hadn't played in months and i tried to log in and it didn't let me. only through twitter message with mod ash was I able to get unbanned. ridiculous
This is why they tried banning all 3rd party clients. They can only tell if you're using the official client or not
Not true. I got banned using the Legacy java client. They claimed they detected 3rd party client. It's all automated - Jagex is incompetent.

@@Dylan-qb8br Its not downloadable anymore and hasn't been for a while. You can only use it if you've had it downloaded for a while. Very few people still use that client, so they can watch it closely now.
Idk 15 years never had an issuse. I guarantee they had something on thier computer that set off the alarms. They got stuff to scan the computer for curtain software that may be used for botting or hacking even if your aren't your playing with fire.

Haha he said he dont think his friend that has been hacked 3 times would risk botting. Yeah ok dude that is the 1 type of person who would risk it. That being said ive been false banned for training 1 skill at a time. You need to train all skills like bots do to avoid ban.
I dont understand how people get banned I build accounts to 2k ttl running 8hrs a day have built atleast 20 accs so far and not a single ban and I've sold every account no issues

I know this is anecdotal but I got banned 3 times for botting and each time I appealed mod twisted emailed me and apologized for it
I think one raising issue which not many people may realize is that people are getting older/new players are young. On average young people tend to lie a lot, just a fact. I know I have used auto clicker for high alching way back on my 1st iron and it's really not that hard to see someone who got caught doing it denying it. Especially since ppl have so little faith on Jagex nowdays it's like a free joker card you can always play. I do think Jagex has room for improvement in their system and there definitely are false bans that happen but you shouldn't speculate when you don't have any of the real data or understanding in your hands.
My main got perm banned also gave my alternate account money bam rwt perm ban
