Clarke CS4-6E Belt & Disc Sander | Unboxing & Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 сер 2024
- With the workshop finally a usable space, it's time to kit it out with some tools. One of the first things I knew I'd need was a bench-top sander. So as budget is a concern, I chose the Clarke CS4-6E Belt & Disc Sander. In this video I run through some of it's features and give it a test on a variety of materials. I hope you find it useful.

Nice demo, just unboxed mine, hoping it's worth the investment 👍
Hi thank you for a good straight forward and informative video, I have just opened and set up mine today, good job!
Thank you again
Sam
No worries Sam, glad you found it useful and cheers for commenting. It's great to get some feedback.
Nice 1, I've just purchased a second hand one £20 used a few times, 👍
Same as the Scheppach which is the one Aldi use and it is a great machine. I paid £90 from Aldi
From what I can see it’s practically identical to the Scheppach and Aldi ones. I have the Scheppach and it works a treat. Aldi is flogging them for 90 quid at the moment.
ordered one myself now, good video mate !
Awesome stuff, hope you get some good use out of it!
@@rickmakesuk Thanks, will use most of the time for aluminium. Hope it will do the job.
Nice video, thanks. I just bought one myself yesterday. I'd be interested to see what you do about the dust extraction. I don't currently have any either.
davidkoffman Hi I just bought one of these today, very pleased, for dust extraction, I used my trusty Henry Hoover, I just taped up the hose of the hoover to the extraction port with 2 inch duct tape and it worked very well, no mess.
Hope this helps
Sam
Get yourself a Henry
Great video thanks, question is the disc Velcro?
daniel dibdin .Hi Daniel, the disc is adhesive backed, so you just need to peel it off and reapply another.
Good video mate. Im thinkingnif buying this to use as a linisher for metal. Would this be the thing? Cheers, Vic
Hi Vic, you could do I guess but you might just want a different belt etc. But there are similar specialist machines on the market for a similar price.
There are a number of rebranded sanders like this available. I got mine from Rutlands. Watch out for the drive belt stripping, I’m on my second. Also the disc becomes loose from time to time.
I’m on my third belt and will need a new one soon. The pad on the disc seems welded on though, do you know if it’s Velcro or glued on?
thanks for the video :) - looking at getting one to compliment my Clarke CBS1-5 1"x30" belt/disc sander one question, can't quite tell but is the body on these plastic?
It's worth getting the conversion kit to make the disc sander use hook & loop style discs - makes it so much easier to swap grits out and you don't waste a disc in the process :)
Hey Gary, The casing is cast metal. Super sturdy. And yeh, I thought I'd look into doing exactly that for the disc myself at some point.
@@rickmakesuk cheers for confirmation - difficult to tell in video but great to know :)
@@rickmakesuk I managed to pick up a Clarke CS4-8 2nd hand for a good price :) so all sorted now :)
just ordered this on amazon and i'm wondering what the noise levels are like when using this machine?
jacob sack it’s not the quietest machine in the world but I found greasing rollers helped.
Looks suspiciously like the lumberjack model, my concern is how square will the disk bed remain at a 90 degrees, I appreciate this video and will now look for a better model.
On the video I only hand tightened it, so you could get a pair of pliers on it and really lock it up, or swap out the plastic knob for a hex head etc.
And yes it’s the same as the lumberjack one. A few companies buy them from China and rebrand them I suspect.
Hi mate how did you stand the sander up vertical please. Waiting reply mark..
Hey mark, there should be a allen bolt on the back, in-line with the axle that tilts. Hope that helps.
I get mine tomorrow 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
happy2be Nice one! Happy sanding!
Can it sand metal well too ? Like knives and stuff ?
Joe b wan I reckon if your looking to sharpen knives I’d get a dedicated sharpener.
I’ve got one for making knifes I’m yet to try use it tho
mine is a Wen and i love it
Is the disk held on by Velcro??
It’s glued on, so I guess you just peel/scrape it off once it’s work out.
@@rickmakesuk thanks for the reply 👍
@@marktownsend9333 i'd suggest buying a hook & loop conversion kit for this - i did it for my Clarke CBS1-5 unit and it's so much quicker changing disc grits without trashing a disc in the process :)
@@garyneal2963 Where can you get these conversion kits from, please?
