Thank you for all of your presentations with great insights 🙏 I just purchased that Bauer Belt and disc sander for $120, on sale from $149, and waiting for delivery.
I just bought one today for $120 on sale. I tried a piece of sample wood that came with it to see how well it performed. So far, I really like it. I didn't even have to adjust the belt on mine. It tracked true right out of the box. I was impressed.
Just got mine for $80. Not really sure how it all happened, but I was going to buy the Central Machinery one as I only need it to smooth out 2' pieces of hardwood that I've resawn. However, when I went to make the purchase, the central machinery one was removed from my cart and set to "in-store only", which wasn't going to happen as it's 2 hours away and with an old 460 I'd end up paying over $100 in gas to get it. So, I put the Bauer in the cart, went to checkout, saw it was $79.99, made the purchase instantly. Lol. Can't beat $80 for it.
To clean the left over adhesive on the disk, I'd just turn the thing on and have your soaked rag ready with whatever solvent you're using. Then just touch the rag to the wheel while its spinning, rub it up and down until the adhesive is gone.
@@bedells9389 Right. I'm not saying pour solvent all over the thing. Or leave solvent soaked rags on it/around it. I don't think you'd blow anything up quickly wiping down the disk surface, in between sanding sheet changes. For something to catch fire a spark would have to physically make contact with the rag, or there has to be a high enough oxygen/gas/fume mixture, in the appropriate ratio range for a spark to ignite that gas mixture. Both scenarios are very unlikely. Though I agree, accidents can happen when not paying attention to what you're doing.
Thanks OG I'm a fan of Bauer products and after watching this I'm getting one. my Harbor freight belt/disc sander is on its last leg and this looks like the perfect replacement thanks again
I like putting 40 grit belt on, flipping machine upside down with belt on floor, turn switch on, then plug in and watch it take off like a Battle Bot !
Great video. Anyone ever tell you that you have the perfect voice for audio books? I just bought one of these yesterday. After looking at a lot of reviews for this particular machine (paid $115), it seems like it is really hard to beat the price for what you get, and the job that it does, especially for us hobbyist. I was a little unsure about the disc change out, and you walked us through it perfectly.
I just bought one from Harbor Freight. I returned the cheaper Central Machinery 4"x 36" belt/disc sander. What a POS that was. I could seize the belt with a gloved hand. And it took me forever to assemble/disassemble it. The Bauer I just bought was fully assembled minus the disc plate. I already have a better feeling about this one.
Found two faults. One is the disc shield is to close to the disc so dust goes over it instead of inside it. So i heated the lip up and moved it a bit outwards away from the disc. Now the dust goes inside. Also the same with the belt dust shield. When flat the dust goes over. So i installed a small deflector on the top. It needs to be bent so when the belt is straight up the shield does not hit the belt. Made that from some milk bottle plastic and two screws. Easy mods.
Hi Old Guy, Old Gal here, lol. I've had a Wen sitting in my amazon cart a few days now, but you may have changed my mind. So, both sanders must run at the same time?
are you making the adjustment while the sander is running? that is the key. turn it on, let it start to wander, then make the adjustment as you let it run.

Be careful using solvents around running electric motors, as they are typically flammable.

So the extra $60 is well worth it for the Bauer?
Just got one today, wet the rag with acetone, turn on the machine and wipe away residue.
I like that Harlan Sanders, fried chicken!
Its a great machine for the price, well worth its value. I would say at least for metal I wish the belt was much faster.
