Great video, thanks I'm going to purchase my black edition next mo. Started off on a Honda 50 graduated to a RC51 now I'm old and this bike is perfect.

I highly doubt I'll be driving that aggressively, as I'm just returning to riding after a long, long hiatus. But for sure, some Eifel touting will be one of my goals. Thanks again.
I'm still also torn about getting this bike. My first thinking and good bit of shopping prior to finding it was for the CB650R. I was also interested in the Trident 660. But, this beautiful CB1000R was sitting among the used motorcycles of a Yamaha dealer and it was my wife that said, this is a really nice looking bike. How about it? I sat on it, and my wife said, you look much better on it than the 650. The dealer started the engine, and damn, I fell in love instantly. I'm still wary of getting it though, that it might be a bit above my abilities. My wife says, it's only as dangerous as you make it. But, I know things you didn't think might catch you out can and will and on a bike like the 1k, even more. But, the same things can catch you out on the smaller bikes too I guess. At any rate. I'm very excited to say the least and your insights with the bike are helping me a lot. Thanks once more. Great video again I liked the roads you and the Garmen didn’t fall out hope the bike is ok that’s why they put a clutch on there what about the fud in the golf !!
Thanks be to you Peter! Yeah, needed to rely on the clutch a little more after this near miss! No more problems since then, though I've taken the footrests off now. The guy in the Golf was an unbelievable plonker. Glad to have finally gotten past that idiot!
Your very good at cornering so can you do a video on safe cornering as it’s been many year’s since I rode a motorcycle and I’m thinking of buying a Honda like yours.
Thank you Donna. I’ll have to have a solid think about that. I hate being preachy and I’m terrified of teaching something utterly wrong! Mostly I’m not sure how to explain what i do as a lot of it now just happens automatically! I’ll give it some consideration though!
Great vid, that area is fabulous, I need to go back there! Coincidentally, I have the same bike...didn't know about the fuel reserve thing though!! Subscribed!
Thanks! I totally agree. Germany is pretty much all stunning! The fuel reserve thing is great! PLus the fuel used readout is a real confidence booster when you'Re searching for a petrol station!
Thanks Walter! Glad to hear that the new horse is slowly being accepted! She's also a bit more subtly dressed now too. More vids to come on that subject!
I came in to the pinch bolts from the open side of the swing arm without too much difficulty.... left all the tail garbage in place. I have only one tightening under my belt on this bike so far but got the torque wrench on them.
I've since managed to get in there with less faff. Problem was that I had no extensions, no full size allen or torx keys and a tiny little wratchet with me! I'll be better prepared next time!
Interesting to see your issue with the false neutral. I have a CBR650R with a quick shifter fitted and I've more or less stopped using it now. The false neutrals, meshing of gears, worrying clunks and bangs leave me thinking it will eventually destroy the grearbox. It's got worse over time, and I've had the bike 18 months now. I was out enjoying a ride today, gave the bike some beans, thought I'd use the quick shifter, and the engine screamed up to 12,000RPM, the horizontal bar was showing on the gear indicator, then heard the cogs banging and clanging for a couple of seconds while things calmed down. As I said, it's happening more and more, to the point I'm thinking of calling Honda. Anyway, other than that, an entertaining video as always.
That's very annoying mate, sorry to hear it. TBH I heard of several cases of this kind of behaviour from people who apparently had a quickshifter that wasn't properly set up from the factory. It was enough to put me off getting the QS and I saved the 1000€ by just getting the standard bike! Now that I've replaced the standard footpegs, I'm having way less issues. Although it's possible that this scare has made me change gear a bit more forcefully now! Overall, I think that if you're worried that your bike isn't working as it should, definitely call Honda. You paid a lot of money for that bike, it really ought to work 100% all of the time! Plus if you leave it too long, the warranty will expire and then you'll have nothing!
Noticed you ditched the Sony cams and gone all GoPro. You’ve got to do a vlogging how to setup next. Also noticed you run ND filters for that slow shutter speed thingy... help us out with a how to on that as well if you can. Really loving how you’re jelling with the bike. It shows. My MT-09 SP came with Bridgestone S20es, lots of reviewers gave them shit as being not as good as off the shelf items, myself I’ve had no issues, loved them and in the mountains came quite near to the edge of the sides, something I’ve never done before on other bikes, which does say something on confidence inspiring tires. Will switch to Michelin Road 5’s next on your advice, but not because the B’s where lacking. Just to test something new and also because Michelin worked great on my little supermoto as well.
Absolutely Stephen. I'm still perfecting the setup, but as soon as I do, there'll be little vid about it. Sounds like a winter project to me! The S21's on the CB were fabulous! I was right to the very edges after only 2000km! Never managed that with the R5's on the FZ1. I didn't go for them again purely because they only lasted 5000km (probably could have gone to 6000, but had a trip coming up!). I've got Avon Spirit ST's on now and so far (in awful weather) they've been impressive!
Loved the vid Andy, I did think is that your Mic or is that your chain sounding sloppy on the overrun while you where harvesting those twisted lol Not been back on the ring for a while, but best advice is a slightly out of season, mid week for max hassle free harvesting ;)
Thanks Neil. It was a horrible noise mate! Considerably worse in real life too! We were VERY lucky to have had it so clear on a weekend. For once the rain helped me out and scared everyone away!
Hey Andy, long time fan here, great video as always and very interesing lands and twisties! By the way I wanted to ask you if its easy to get by in germany just speaking english. Im native Spanish and only speak English and a bit of french but nothing of german, and I was wondering in all these villages they speak English in the Hotels! Anyway, keep the good work =)
Cheers Magnetorr! I reckon that in the hotels, cafe's restaurants and so on, you'll be absolutely fine with just english. German tourist facing businesses are very good with languages, Plus most people in Germany under the age of 25 will very likely speak english on the street too.
@@AndyManCam he he. I was on Thailand tour a while back. Apart from me everyone had a gps. I still found all the hotels by myself just using phone apps.
Hi Andy great emty Roads out there but would you have that same bare bike and only that bike with no wind or rain protection. in england as your main Bike??? yours Pete!
Absolutely I would! The roads are tighter, smaller, slower and more busy. Even less need for wind and rain protection! Plus the weather here isn't so different to in the UK. For me, the joy of riding the naked bike in the twisties far outweighs the need for a fairing. But then I'm in the luxurious position of not needing to use my only bike for commuting.
Great vid - chain does stretch quite a bit - 5500miles and mines has had to be adjusted twice. 5th - 6th gear change can result in false neutral, does it with the QS too. Most important, did you get some cake?
Hi Andy, after viewing a shitload of your CB1000R video's, I bought one. 🙂. Can I ask which mount you used to fit the GPS to the bike please ? Keep up the great work, love the video's.
I'll probably make a video at some point to that effect, but the short version is that it does everything the FZ1 does, but maybe 10-15% better (Except for fuelling, that's a night and day difference!). So having everything a little bit better, in every direction, makes for a noticeably more enjoyable rider experience overall. I wasn't ever going to sell either, but the test ride was love at first ride!
Thoroughly enjoying your channel Andy, I have just purchased a motorcycle after 10 years away from it (kids!) I have one question if you don't mind sharing.........what have you found to be the best/most durable way to mount the go pro to your helmet? Now I am off to binge watch some more of your content, keep up the great work;)
Thanks Anthony and welcome back into the fold!! Funny you should ask, but i just made a video about it! It might be a bit extreme for many, but that’s how I’ve mounted my last 3 cameras... ua-cam.com/video/h1r5kGpOXTI/v-deo.html
@@AndyManCam great setup! Some cool gadgets there, will certainly give that a go, thanks for the reply/info Andy👍 p.s I have also just purchased a HJC helmet😀
@@AndyManCam Nice! Look forward to the videos :D Why are we all obsessed with modding bikes though? I took mine back from its first service yesterday and the first thing I did was install all the mods I got for it xD
@AndyManCam all your video's is a reaction off i want to drive like hell again from the Netherlands Eindhoven! Twisties i love to ride like the devil with my tracer 900 gt
Dead wrong! The gopro always kills the feeling of steepness, but it's incredibly hilly through most of the middle of Germany. I just use good old fashion soap and water and then a bit of leather balm to finish.
My guess would be new chain stretch. Once you started to give it some wellie the chain loosened up as it settled in. The gearbox will take a few 1000ks to do the same, best to be gentle with it until second service. But yeah, quite a bang and proper scary. When you think about it not many bikes get to spend their second week hitting the Nordschleife. ;D
Definitely. That or the adjustment cam slipped slightly in its mounts. It is, after all, just a drum clamped in a bigger drum! I can't imagine many people are stupid enough to go on track after less than 2000km! Luckily for the videos, I am just the right kind of stupid! !
@@AndyManCam My Honda is really old now, and I can't remember exactly how long I'd had it, but first time I cleaned it, and went round it, I found both the rear top mount nuts on the shock absorbers were less than finger tight. Purchased from what was a 5* Dealer back then.... they have never worked themselves loose since.
Road Works sucks!!! Another Great video Andy... In meanwhile i dunno if you remember that i was looking for a fz1 in good condition well didn't found one unfortunately and i needed to by a bike asap to commuting ... I bought a z800 😄 so no judgement that you got a cb1000r 👍
I would have thought your bike would have had cruise control? The rattle sounded ominous. Lovely clean open roads. Is gravel, pot holes and diesel not such a big risk as riding in the UK?
I would have thought so too. Bit of a lazy, cost cutting omission from Honda there. Still, it's quite aggressively priced for the market segment it's in. I can learn to live without. The roads over here are generally far cleaner and gripper than at home, yes.
Okay. The rant around the 30 minute mark?..... I can see the progression! Lol! I traded my Tracer 900 for a BMW R1200RT. Thought I’d given up the ‘spirit of riding’, but then discovered a whole new genre! Agile in the twisties , quiet on the motorways, EXCELLENT for a pillion (and trust me, since you’ve recently ‘tied the knot’).... come over to the Dark Side!!!!!!
Haha! I LOVED the R1200R when I tested it! Would have considered it if they weren't just that bit out of my price range (I got a great price on the Honda) and also the Honda tugged on the heart strings a little bit harder! WHo know for the future though!
Great to see that you have chosen the perfect bike for you 👍you should be very pleased with your choice. We all know that no bike is perfect ,we all need at least 3 bikes in our garage 😂always a funny entertaining video .
It certainly seems very close Paul. I'm extremely pleased, and after a few more mods, it's now even better still! 3 Bikes ought to just about do it though! 😜
Hey Chris. TBH mate, I'm still not settled on a final setup as it'S never quite perfect! At the core though, I've got a standard curved gopro mount that is held on to the helmet with Sugru. amzn.to/36kFBQc After that I keep it as simple as possible. No fancy mounts or arms here!
Hi, Nice ride man ! Please, what is the speed used for your shutter ? 60 or more ? Beacause it looks like more blury than my footages with my ND filter. Thanks
only 25fps mate. But with the ND filters, you have to lock the ISO, otherwise the camera will keep the shutter speed high and ramp up the ISO to compensate. So then your footage doesn't get blurry, it gets grainy instead!
Yes, all RAM. Several different generations and one is from the Garmin, but ultimately all the same brand. I've got a couple of Ultimate Addons ones too, but they're not to good.
Thanks Graham. Surprisingly no! It's a Hero 6 Black, stabilised in post with Reelsteady GO. The effect is brilliant and means I don't need the newest and most expensive cameras to do it! 😊 The helmet is a Nishua Carbon Enduro.
I tried everything Colin! I had them as high as they'd go, as low as they'd go and several positions in between. They're just too narrow for the size of me. I've since replaced them with wider and straighter bars and the difference is great. Also the bike seems even more flickable and agile! Confidence is HIGH!

I've had a few shall I say fluffy(harsh) gear changes in my new multi 950s using the quick shifter. Trouble is the ride then turns into paranoid one. Did they not check your chain at the first service?????? Would love to ride Germany someone. Andyman cam #budget tours! hint hint
Yeah, I feel that! It's a bit of the reason why I didn't go for the quick shifter. Lot's of reports of people having issues and missed shifts. I'd rather get used to the gearbox first, and then maybe later fit a quickshifter myself. The chain was checked at first service and that's why I guessed that it was the culprit. No way it was that loose before the SMASH into 6th gear! Although whether it was the chain stretching or the adjustment cam shifting, I couldn't tell you. I'm starting to think it's more likely the Cam shifted.
Funny how contemporary road testers sometimes say 145hp isn’t enough. Unless it’s got 200hp it’s crap. She was flying up & down and carving those turns like a boss. Sounded nice too. Realise you’ve no longer got it.
Dunno if you will still see this haha What kind of helmet did you wear? And I know the gloves, but what is that compass-like thingy on your left hand? 😊 Thank you very much in advance.. have good one and ride safe 😄
The helmet is an HJC RPHA 70 and the compass is a Suunto mini compass that clips on top whatever you want to clip it to. I originally thought i could put it on the tankbag, but the steel tank and the magnets in the bag interfered too much! 😂
@@AndyManCam thanks for the answer 😊 need a new helmet urgently since my friend oversaw mine while parking the bike and basically crushed it against a sidewalk 😂
I try to stick to about a 200 mile a day limit. after that it starts to become a bit of a slog. I've done longer days, but so far 150 - 180 has been the sweetspot.

Looks great Andy, I learnt the Garmin trick after a lot of frustration😀
Cheers Ian! I wish I'd found this trick years ago! ALthough the power interruption problems don't seem to want to go away!
Absolutely loved it thank you
Thanks Martin!
Great vid, that area is fabulous, I need to go back there! Coincidentally, I have the same bike...didn't know about the fuel reserve thing though!! Subscribed!
Thanks! I totally agree. Germany is pretty much all stunning! The fuel reserve thing is great! PLus the fuel used readout is a real confidence booster when you'Re searching for a petrol station!
you make it look so easy
Many thanks mate! I'm sure it's all camera angles and post production! 😜
Watched every minute, mate. Gave me the kick up the bum I needed to edit my 2021 Trip.
Vielen Dank. ;)
My pleasure and thanks for watching mate! Good luck with the edit! 😜
Great video nice 👍🏼
Cheers for watching Danilo!
Great vid again Andy, and your CB1000R, although a little too overdressed to my taste, is a worthy successor of the FZ1 ✌🏻
Thanks Walter! Glad to hear that the new horse is slowly being accepted! She's also a bit more subtly dressed now too. More vids to come on that subject!
AndyManCam looking forward😀
Great video as always. Some time spent editing this one clearly!
Many thanks Stuart. Always happy when that comes across! It's not for nothing, so thank you kindly mate!
@@AndyManCam no problem mate. The blending of the cameras etc takes a lot of work to get right, and that clearly shows.
It’s so satisfying when it works though, and worth the effort when appreciated 😊
Awesome ride 👍🏽
Thanks 👍
Damn that bik and you sure seem to get on well on them twisties. Glad the gearchange crunch didn't call a halt to things :-)
Cheers mate! Yeah it just seems to really work with this machine! Throughout the rest of this trip it gets better and better too! 😉
Are these bikes available in the USA market?? Thanks great video
As far as i know, yes!
Another top video Thanks for that What Garmin do you use. Garmin seem really popular in Europe.
My pleasure! Thanks! It's a Garmin Zumo 340lm and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemies!
@@AndyManCam he he. I was on Thailand tour a while back. Apart from me everyone had a gps. I still found all the hotels by myself just using phone apps.
Great video 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks 👍
AMC i love that video, can´t wait too see you do your thing on the track :-)
Yours Sincerely
The Danish Viking.
Many thanks! Coming soon!
What an amazing ‘soundtrack’, is that exhaust completely stock?
I think at this point i had an Arrow end can on. But TBH the sound really wasn’t very different from stock.
Another great vid, mate.
Thanks James. Glad you enjoyed it!
Those selfies just reminds me of a Imperial First Order Tie Fighter Pilot preparing for hyperspace:-))
Haha! "I'm on the leader". Must be the steely cool demeanour?...
Hen party! 😂 Fun video. Thanks
Great vid - chain does stretch quite a bit - 5500miles and mines has had to be adjusted twice. 5th - 6th gear change can result in false neutral, does it with the QS too. Most important, did you get some cake?
Good to know, cheers Piers. I didn't get cake (they didn't have any) but I did get a plate of chips, so that's a close second!
Hi Andy, after viewing a shitload of your CB1000R video's, I bought one. 🙂. Can I ask which mount you used to fit the GPS to the bike please ? Keep up the great work, love the video's.
Nice! I had a RAM ball mounted to one of the bolt holes for the handlebar clamp and used the included short RAM arm to connect the Garmin cradle. 👍🏻
How would you compare the 1000r to the FZ1? I have a 2012 FZ1 and love it. Never selling it but curious for maybe a 2nd bike at some point
Good vid
Can you give details of your luggage for the cb1000r
Cheers man
Absolutely! Here's a video ALL about it! : ua-cam.com/video/J6KlaOKDzS0/v-deo.html Links in the description of both too. 👍🏻
@@AndyManCam Thanks
just came across this video !
great luggage options
My pleasure, happy to help!
Some cool gadgets there, will certainly give that a go, thanks for the reply/info Andy👍
p.s I have also just purchased a HJC helmet😀
Happy HJC'ing! I can't wait until I can actually squeeze my head back into mine! 😆
Watching this at 21:00 at night whilst having a beer after dinner...
Had I been drinking water I'd be hopping on my bike straight for a ride
Now THAT'S exactly the response I'd hoped for! I'm loving the bike so far Juan. After a few mods (videos on the way) it's very near perfect now!
@@AndyManCam Nice! Look forward to the videos :D
Why are we all obsessed with modding bikes though?
I took mine back from its first service yesterday and the first thing I did was install all the mods I got for it xD
@AndyManCam all your video's is a reaction off i want to drive like hell again from the Netherlands Eindhoven! Twisties i love to ride like the devil with my tracer 900 gt
Noticed the bugs on the mirrors, what do ya do to clean off the leathers and helmet/visor? Seems really flat there Germany or am I wrong?
Dead wrong! The gopro always kills the feeling of steepness, but it's incredibly hilly through most of the middle of Germany. I just use good old fashion soap and water and then a bit of leather balm to finish.
You were on my playground there. I made a GPS track with 200km of twistiness...
And a stunning playground it is!
Congratulations Mario! As long as the bike works for you, that's all that matters! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@AndyManCam I'm really having a good time with my z800 enjoy it every single rev👍
That’s the dream right there! Love the bike you’ve got!
proper good video, strange stuff with the chain ?
Thanks Sam. Yeah, very strange but definitely preferable to destroying the gearbox!
I would have thought your bike would have had cruise control?
The rattle sounded ominous.
Lovely clean open roads. Is gravel, pot holes and diesel not such a big risk as riding in the UK?
Having ridden in Germany quite a lot their roads are much better maintained than the UK
I would have thought so too. Bit of a lazy, cost cutting omission from Honda there. Still, it's quite aggressively priced for the market segment it's in. I can learn to live without. The roads over here are generally far cleaner and gripper than at home, yes.
Amc giving it the beans love it...
Cheers David. The new bike was just asking for it!
Good one Andy! What’s that human watering system you got on your back ? Been thinking about getting something for the longer trips.
It's actually just a cheapie from Decathlon. 15€ I think. Not the greatest fit and only a litre, but it did the job. Shame it looks like a neglige!
😆👍
Hey Andy, can you give me details on your helmet cam mount please? I’ve been looking for one but not seen anything I’m keen on yet. Thanks.
Thanks
Looks like double the FPS indeed.
only 25fps mate. But with the ND filters, you have to lock the ISO, otherwise the camera will keep the shutter speed high and ramp up the ISO to compensate. So then your footage doesn't get blurry, it gets grainy instead!
Hi AMC, are your camera forward arms RAM? they look slightly different?
Yes, all RAM. Several different generations and one is from the Garmin, but ultimately all the same brand. I've got a couple of Ultimate Addons ones too, but they're not to good.
Wie ist der windschild ? Bringt das was ? Gruß aus germany
Insekten sind von der Display ferngehalten, sonst nür gut aussehen!
@@AndyManCam Danke 👍
Gerne!
Video quality is amazing.
GoPro 8?
What helmet are you wearing?
Thanks Graham. Surprisingly no! It's a Hero 6 Black, stabilised in post with Reelsteady GO. The effect is brilliant and means I don't need the newest and most expensive cameras to do it! 😊 The helmet is a Nishua Carbon Enduro.
@@AndyManCam
Cheers mate, will look into that..
There’s a discount code in the description for reelsteady, should you be interested.
Praise be to Dog! ;-). BTW Andy, how many miles (or km) were on the Yamaha when you bought it, and how many did you put on it?
It had about 30,000km when I bought it and I did almost 30,000 more.
@missendenflyer reference! Quite chuffed.
I couldn't help myself!
For your wrist problem try moving the bars slightly so it straightens your arm out
I tried everything Colin! I had them as high as they'd go, as low as they'd go and several positions in between. They're just too narrow for the size of me. I've since replaced them with wider and straighter bars and the difference is great. Also the bike seems even more flickable and agile! Confidence is HIGH!
Would you kindly consider documenting this lovely route please.
I shall do my best to put a route together and stick it in the description.
Great vid Andy, seems like so long ago and so glad I didn’t bin it in the ditch :o

To adjust the chain I have a small ratchet so don’t have to remove the number plate
Yeah I should perfect my tool setup with an extension or two for next time. I do prefer the low level mudguard to a tail tidy.
@@fredensminde I have a GSX-S1000 with a tail tidy. Wished there existed a mudguard for it : on rainy roads, with my "tail tidy", my jacket is far from "tidy" : one hell of a brown mud stripe on the back of my jacket. I promised myself to never ever install a tail tidy again...
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve only got 80hp now and I’m happier than ever! I don’t think I’ve gotten any slower either.
How's the chain oiler working out
Very well! The chain is still well oiled and pretty clean looking after about 7000km.
Your roads don't have centre lines. How do you know if you are riding on a one-way or two-way road?
If the cars coming the other way are angry, then it’s very possible that you’re going the wrong way up a one way street.
Top vid
Many thanks William.
Are they Honda sadle bags?
Nope, SW motech.
Dunno if you will still see this haha
What kind of helmet did you wear? And I know the gloves, but what is that compass-like thingy on your left hand? 😊
Thank you very much in advance.. have good one and ride safe 😄
On average, how many miles do you do per day before you call it a day?
I try to stick to about a 200 mile a day limit. after that it starts to become a bit of a slog. I've done longer days, but so far 150 - 180 has been the sweetspot.
So.... the royalties / the kickbacks from the German Tourist board are good huh 🤔 ? Dam if you didn't do another good job of advertising the country 😁 Is it all that well maintained, that beautiful and that twisty ?? What have I been doing all my life 🙄? I love the food, didn't know it was motorcylce heaven too 👌👍🤗
