- I’m often asked, how I make my own rose gold mixative. As I live in France these products are hard to come by and requires a long wait via the postal service, so I make my own and I think it works fabulously!
This videos show the step by step method and the products used.

I his is awesome such a money saver!!
It really is 👍💕
Thanks for this Edna! I used Jaqaurd mica powder and put in way too much alcohol! I'll try again and if it doesn't work I'll purchase the Mehron. Yours moves and blends much better!
Thank you! Been going crazy looking for a nice gold ink😩 now I can make my own.
Perfect homemade recipe 👍
This is awesome, I already have the Mehron powders, alcohol, and the bottles so I'm good to go! :)
Still use mine. 😍
Great idea and the mix has depth! Thank you clever girl.👍🏻👍🏻💕💕😍😍🐶🐶🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you back Maureen, its a definately a money saver 🙌
You clever person! your mix works better than the bought versions :D
Thanks Lou 😘
Merci for sharing from the U.s.a... 😀Very nice. 😍
My pleasure Analisa, Jolie nom 😍
Yay thank u for the gold ink recipe! Now I’ll just need to look for a Quill bottle 😄
amazon-they still have them
try a ball bearing in the bottle a la Daniel Cooper to help it mix :)
Will do 👍👍👍
Thank you - very interesting. Have you tried adding the powder directly to the alcohol ink instead of the clear alcohol?
Yes it just flies eveywhere and causes a big mess!
Thanks so much, this video is great! What sort of alcohol do you use with it. Would vodka work?
as in the video, i used isopropyl alcohol. no for the vodka! 💙
I love Rose Gold. Will this technique work with other mica powders or just with metallics please? x
Only metallic 😍
@@EdnaWargon Thank you. I've ordered some 😀 x
I make alcohol inks and pearls and it works with other mica powders as well just make sure you put a shaker ball inside your bottle with it! ❤️
However I would personally recommend using extra fine pigment powder vs mica
The inks last in a bottle 👍🌸 I'm getting there 😀
👍👍👍💋
Thanks for sharing this information. Love it!
Thanks for the video. Do you find that they smudge at all after using it? Would you need to seal it?
Not at all lina. They dry bone dry. 😘
Mine did smudge very easily using 91%. FYI
@@jillf24 did you try the glycerin or gum arabic as suggested in your previous posting?
Are these inks smear proof when dry?
Yes
Wow. Super👌😉
I have the same gold powder but for some reason it doesnt adhere to the surface. When it dries up, it floats around/becomes powdery again :(
Mehron ?
@@EdnaWargon yeah in Gold. Well, it sticks to paper, but if I put resin to seal it on top when its fully dried, it floats around lol how do you remedy that?
@@sarataylor8146 I mean I put it on paper before sealing it haha I guess if it doesnt work I'll go try to seal it with something else
@@csg.13 gloss spray varnish works a treat. ua-cam.com/video/XazGjoVmrq0/v-deo.html
@@EdnaWargon OMG thank you! That solves it!
Can we keep them for longer period of time like the ones we usually bought
Yes
@@EdnaWargonhi sorry for disturbing again do you make other colors too if yes do share me the links of them
But after alcohol ink dries gold becomes powder any comment on this ...what can be added to give stickiness to gold
It doesn't happen to me. What gold powder are you using? This is the secret.
@@EdnaWargon I use hobby ideas gold powder ...can u suggest any adhesive to be added so that it sticks to the paper after it dries
@@smrng808 You need an extra fine powder as i ad board in the tutorial, it won't work with regular mica powder. Try glycerine or gum arabic but I don't know if it will work.
@@EdnaWargon should I mix glycerine,alcohol and gold powder ?
Sorry, ive never mixed anything else than alcohol and it works for me so i can't advise any longer. Wishing you happy holidays 😍
What's this mehron powder? Is it eyeshadows?? If not then can we use eyeshadows to make metallic colors of ink?
No, its a very fine body shimmer and works perfectly in isopropyl alcohol. I've never used eyeshadow but if want to try, let me know how it works 🥰
Have you noticed any oxidization with these powders?
Hi. Not sure what you mean by oxidisation but all my pieces made with this mixtative are still in perfect condition.
hey.can this be used for guilding for resin?
Yes, but mix it with glue first so it doesn't flake off when dry 😎
Is it usable for rubber stamp?
Im not sure, try it and let me know 😉
can we use it with the epoxy risen
See my other videos, i use it often with resin.
Where do you find the bottles ?
Amazon
Is that just mica. ?
No
Can we use 70 percent alcohol
Not really no, more than 90 per cent is better.
I checked my alcohol supply, noticed it says 91% is that ok??
I have only used 99%. Try it and let me know if it works 😉
Edna Wargon Art LOL
I have used 91% alcohol, with cheap mica powder from Amazon-I feel like it works well, but it needed to sit for 24 hrs to taint the alcohol well. I am a newbie at AI, so not sure if my opinion is great-but it did work. I bought color changing powders that I am trying-I love them in the resin so I thought I would try them in the paintings. You do have to spray coat your painting-the powder does rub off so easily. Wondering if there is an additive I could use to make it bond better???????
I wish I knew the answer to that too I've looked it up and the best I can come up is maybe glycerine or gum Arabic?
Epic
Thanks Mary, I still have that same bottle I've only used 3 quarters of it. It goes a long way 😘
What are these 4?
Using as a gold accent in my alcohol ink artworks :) Checkout my alcohol ink art playlist to see examples ua-cam.com/play/PL5vjcFPhzwKwkmLtBgr_ZdHzoN7BH4TuC.html
Ça a l'air cool.

Would embossing powder work?
