That 4070 Ti Super is worth more than my whole PC. That's one lucky soul getting that rig back. I really need to upgrade. At least she still runs! I can't believe how solid these old systems were. Build something in 2009, upgrade through the years, and it still runs in 2024! I really like the way that TUF Gaming card looks. I don't know why. Maybe the glowy RGB helps? That little thing to prop up the card is a nice touch. I'm glad it was such a simple solution, if expensive. I had to replace my RX560 some years back. It was when even that was going for $200 used due to the crypto mess. So it can really be rough. Glad you were able to get it working again! Greg, you rock.
I was thinking about something... Just for sanity check, if you want and can do, try flashing a fresh bios onto the videocard, the 3070ti (for people not knowing, you can do it even if the card in question is not the primary card of the system)

(No display). My 2nd PCIE slot is x8 and instantly gave display... Back to my x16 slot = display (1st time during tests that it gave display on my x16 slot). Ive been lucky since starting pc gaming in 2017 that I havent had a major problem with any iterations or upgrades of my build. Started it all on the i7-7700k and a GTX 1080 moved to the i9-9900k and 2070 Super to a i7-12700k currently and a 3070ti til I get a new case to fit a 4090 in Have always had atleast 32gb of ddr4 ram. Currently have 64gb 3600 cl16 ddr4 and a 1300w psu. Used a 750w and 850w prior upgrade paths. PC gaming has evolved significantly over the years in terms of hardware, hardware debugging, and prices. Thats what makes it fun tho and watching these videos is always a blast.
My advice for shipping PCs is remove the GPU, wrap it in plenty of bubble wrap then pack it securely inside the PC case. Alternatively if you have the original packaging put the card in that and pack the PC and GPU securely together. Lastly if you can afford the time be your own courier.
SO YOU KNOW - the WARRANTY VOID sticker is actually FALSE in North America. (Canada/United States) It does NOT void the warrantee, however it does give potential cause/challenge when claiming warranty.
I thought MSI had a 3 year GPU warranty? If so, since the 3070 ti was launched on May 31st, 2021, it is still in warranty, correct? I just RMA'd a Sapphire GPU that had one month left under warranty. They were outstanding and replaced it. Never hurts to try if you have a legitimate issue.
Hello sir greg. I just wanna ask if its normal when I boot my pc, the splash screen and the bios don't show up in my monitor until windows which works fine. I recently bought a gpu which is rx550 then i use a vga to hdmi adapter cable to connect it to my monitor since my monitor doesn't have a hdmi output. But when i plug in a vga in my monitor to motherboard the splash screen and bios shows up. So everytime i need to go to bios, do i need to transfer my vga cable from gpu to motherboard? I think my gpu is not the problem since i tested it and it improves my gameplay performance Specs: - amd ryzen 3 2200g - 16gb ram - rx 550 4gb gpu - 193v philips monitor - A320m-s2h motherboard
I keep a GTX 1050 hanging around for this very same reason! It's an easy card to swap so if there is a problem that's an easy way to narrow things down. Also keep a very small kit of DDR4 around too for the same reason.
I have a GTX 960 that I baked in 2020 that is still working. A friend was running it for a few months before I found an upgrade and now it's running in my test bench
@Greg Salazar , Off-topic question i noticed at the 7:03 mark, there are yugioh cards hanging on your wall. What yugioh cards are hanging on the wall in the back?
such a shame the GPU died, the GPU itself is worth a hell more than my rig. 😅 you're so generous Greg for giving the new GPU. the owner must be so happy with that upgrade. Kudos, keep on teaching and helping!
Zooming in on the serial-number on the back of that card (prior to your disassembly at around 8:34), you can extract part of the manufacture date. I can read a 211x (can't tell the next digit is a 0, 1 or 2). So that tells me it was manufactured in 2021, in either the months of October, November or December (2110, 2111, 2112). MSI provides a 3-year warranty, based on the manufacture date. So the warranty should be good until at October 2024. Now if there is signs of obvious physical damage, forget that warranty. Now after the disassembly, also not sure of that warranty! And being featured in this video as well, lol.
8:53 - just had a 2080ti killed over time through a lack of thermal paste coverage to one part of the core - leading to the memory controller frying itself , and artifacts/bsod under load. The thermal paste coverage here looks even worse than my example tbh so this might be what's killed the card.
No one in their right mind would be upset about ONLY getting an upgrade to an RTX 4070 Ti Super. That is a beast of a card. I would LOVE to have that card.
had the same sag issue on my old motherboard, everything survived but my x670e extreme was dead, before that was having major issues with crashing and black screen problems, replaced the motherboard and have a gpu support brace for my gpu, everything is working a treat. RIP old board
Watching this as I pack up the first PC I've ever sold online. The GPU is well supported, the box reinforced with extra cardboard and gorilla tape and the item insured.
When I transport a computer, I usually pull the GPU before shipping. I've seen too many GPU repairs on northwestrepair where the PCB cracked right at the PCIe slot. Didn't show up in the top layer but in middle layers.
10:23 it looked like up at the top of the board middle left hand side the traces going up to the pci slot look to have a slight line across them maybe indicating a subsurface crack in the inner layers of the PCB. more accurately above the top left mounting hole for the gpu cooler. with the size and weight of gpus today if possible always ship outside the system to avoids this also large tower coolers too
p.s that's a very generous upgrade , was thinking you'd stick in a 3080ti or similar you'd have lying around! (especially that his previous 3070ti has not enough VRAM for modern gaming IMO).
I would be devastated if I killed a GPU like that. You definitely have earned some karma with this episode. As for the whole "you should have changed X". I think replacing the GPU especially a 4070 ti super is more than enough.
That's why whenever I ship a pc, I always take the gpu out and send it wrapped in bubble wrap in the box with the pc, and the recipient can install the gpu when it arrives
pcb flex, solder joints under the chips. it can be fixed most likely, but its a pretty involved job. as others are mentioning, never ship a pc with a gpu installed in a slot. take it out and stuff some of those foam bags in then the gpu laying 'flat' real fast, and another bag on top of the gpu. then its away from the slots, and isolated from the rest of the system so it doesn't damage itself or the rest of the rig.
Everything you said about shipping PCs also applies if you (for some reason) are transporting a PC as checked baggage on a flight (something I did once when I moved cross country). FYI, bubble wrap is NOT good enough to protect a PC in the hold of an airplane (thankfully it was only the case that needed replacing)
GPU sag kills cards.
When the ATX standard was developed in 1995, they didn't envision dual / triple / quad slot 3kg bricks.
Which is why when I went to a 4070Ti I bought a gpu bracket well for that and I manage to lose my locking tab as it popped out with the factory oem gpu.

gt710 saves lives, I ordered one by mistake during the great gpu shortage from Zotac, and its been a lifesaver 3 years later. if you have a multimeter you could start measuing the voltages and rule out a dead core pretty fast. I am about to attempt repairing a 2070 super in a few days.
Yeah, that's a SERIOUS upgrade. :D
Hope you'll somehow get the 3070 back to life again though.
That guy is gonna be so happy! 3060 to 4070 Ti super! Omg that’s beautiful! ASUS TUF looks like a steel fortress. Excellent video!!
Top fans set to intake, surprised you didn't flip them around.
hello greg ❤❤ first of all nice work as usual ❤
i have a Asus vivobook laptop and it works fine but there is a yellow tint in the screen and it is not coming from night light or corrapted graphic driver or something cuz i searched a lot and it disappear only when i go to intel command center and reset the colors it back to normal but when the laptop go to sleep or restart or shutdown it back , and after a long long long search i found that it comes form MyAsus software !! and if it try to disable the service the yellow tint gone but the keyboard functionality is not working correctly cuz it consider the MyAsus is like a driver
do you have any idea or solution for this misery :((
thanks !
Ive been lucky since starting pc gaming in 2017 that I havent had a major problem with any iterations or upgrades of my build.
Started it all on the i7-7700k and a GTX 1080 moved to the i9-9900k and 2070 Super to a i7-12700k currently and a 3070ti til I get a new case to fit a 4090 in
Have always had atleast 32gb of ddr4 ram.
I also got a spare beastly GT710 to ensure video output whatever happens ^^
My advice for shipping PCs is remove the GPU, wrap it in plenty of bubble wrap then pack it securely inside the PC case. Alternatively if you have the original packaging put the card in that and pack the PC and GPU securely together. Lastly if you can afford the time be your own courier.
Is there any plans to have more Deep Cleaning PC's videos some time this year?
SO YOU KNOW - the WARRANTY VOID sticker is actually FALSE in North America. (Canada/United States) It does NOT void the warrantee, however it does give potential cause/challenge when claiming warranty.
Comment to help the algorithm. Gotta love when Greg uploads a fix or flop.
I would've flipped the top fans as exhaust though. :P
I think my gpu is not the problem since i tested it and it improves my gameplay performance
Specs:
- amd ryzen 3 2200g
- 16gb ram
- rx 550 4gb gpu
- 193v philips monitor
- A320m-s2h motherboard
FYI warranty void if removed stickers aren't enforcable.
I keep a GTX 1050 hanging around for this very same reason! It's an easy card to swap so if there is a problem that's an easy way to narrow things down. Also keep a very small kit of DDR4 around too for the same reason.
The pads under the core and memory are probably ripped from the pcb. I wouldn’t try to re flow it. Send it to a repair person like northwest repair
Why are 6 of the 7 fans set to intake? You would normally have addressed that? Why not this time? Just asking out of curiosity?
such a shame the GPU died, the GPU itself is worth a hell more than my rig.
Nope.
@@randysalsman6992 How do you know? Seem very sure about that...
No one in their right mind would be upset about ONLY getting an upgrade to an RTX 4070 Ti Super. That is a beast of a card. I would LOVE to have that card.
Great job on the fix - Nice video. Looking foward the next video in the series.
had the same sag issue on my old motherboard, everything survived but my x670e extreme was dead, before that was having major issues with crashing and black screen problems, replaced the motherboard and have a gpu support brace for my gpu, everything is working a treat. RIP old board
Hard to believe that HUGE card has such a tiny board. Wild.
I think that everytime take a leak. It's very depressing.
*looks at my 3080 from gigabyte* yes I'm jealous. great work Greg!
i have an issue with my PC not yet existing, and i dont live in Florida but i enjoy this series. thanks for making it.
"RGB has been addressed". I see what you did there lol.
That is some damn good customer service right there
Do you typically leave fans oriented how they come or will you 'fix' those too if you notice they are all set to intake/exhaust etc?
I know some of us carriers at the post office in my building do great and care but it comes down to the person and we try, some dont, they get booted.
