So finally after seeing multiple videos on how to remove the springs on a first Gen F-body including using spring compressor, i took the Nestea plunge and used your method from this video. WOW!!!! it worked and was perfectly SAFE. A Thousand thanks for the very helpful episode. Did you ever make a video on the install of the new suspension? Thanks again. You guys Rock!!

Enjoyed seeing a project I've actually already done for a change HAHA! I used a jack AND spring compressor, those springs scare the crap out of me. I also had to cut the front LCA bolt off, but on the drivers side. For the UCA, I had to take the header off on the pass side. Looking forward to next week's video!

I know you said that taking the springs out that way, without the weight of the sheet metal, engine, etc. is not possible, but I got mine out just fine using your method and my car's front end (67 firebird) is completely stripped. just a heads up for whomever might want to give it a shot. thanks for the videos, btw. my la carerra panamericana dream project is progressing nicely at least partly due to your helpful instruction!

Believe it or not an 1-5/16" socket (for the sector shaft nut), can be a BEAR to locate. I finally located one at the last place I checked...NAPA. They run about $11 for a 1/2" drive. Hope that helps save others some the frustration of finding one!

JKWilson61 yeah, I had to go by Sears and buy the 3/4-1/2 adapter as well. close to thirty bucks for both. ouch, haha

I just did the same thing yesterday to a 69 Nova, with no front sheet metal or engine in the car. It can be done with a bare front end.

Bobby, We are fond of saying there is no never and always. Some of that depends on the springs. But we're glad you were able to get'er done.

love this series and would like to know if the disk brakes that you took off are for sale. what could i use off a newer camaro that will fit the 69 thanks for your time

+Bunkey Loving Not sure that there are any later Camaro brake kits that are a straight bolt up. But you can use these cars as donors for sure:
      1968-1974 Nova, 1973-1974 Omega, 1971-1974 Ventura
      II, 1973-1974 Apollo
Honestly, you can get the aftermarket kits pretty cheap these days. As for the kit we took off, the owner has already sold them.

Impact gun? Was there just no room or do I need to send you guys the type of gun we use to loosen the 54MM (2 1/8" for you Americans) rotary flywheel nuts?

ive installed them with out a motor and trans with a floor jack but that was sketchy .see if you can rent a spring compressor from autozone and id tie the bottom of the spring to the lower control arm. them springs with no Weight on the car are kind of scary..

Spring compressor is about the best way. Especially if there is no other real weight.

265chevy I took the springs and front end off my 79 Firebird the same way it was done in this video but my front was bare too. No motor, fenders or inner wheel wheels. They came out fine and I never felt unsafe. Only tricky part was that my lower control arms were a little sticky from 40+ years of rust and grime so they didn’t want to swing all the way down without some... “persuasion”. That was the only part that made me nervous. I ended up employing a 40” demolition crow bar while standing off to the side. All done.

... Been 35 years since I broke my neck but I could still do that with my eyes closed...
No, the ''Ukrainian Socket Set'' is ~NOT~ ideal, at all. However it's not my knuckles
