    Hie guys so this video should work as a baseline on negotiating your salary if you are planning your move to London , I understand that circumstances and responsibilities differ. But I hope it provides the detail on what the minimum salary should be. I have also put in links in the description for items shown in the video. Enjoy🙂

    Just a heads up guys, from a Londoner. Zone 6 is absolutely miles away from Central London. It could literally take you less time to get to Central London from a different county or town like Luton or St Albans than getting there from Zone 6. Ruislip is basically not really London, and certainly not what you would think of as 'London proper' You will be taking AT LEAST half an hour to commute to anywhere in central, up to an hour during rush hour times. yes it's a relatively short distance, but with the tube changes you'd have to make and with how busy London is, it can take you ages.

    • @paulw6183
      @paulw6183 Рік тому

      Ruislip is in london, it's obviously just not central london, train fares from the minor counties are extortionate so living on the underground saves money. It's half an hour on the tube to central london but it's also on the london bus network, linking different tube lines. I have family in battersea and walworth and it takes them a similar time to get into 'central' to when I lived in zone 5. Watford is often overlooked for commuting as it's on tfl so isn't too expensive, it's not in london but still has plenty going on

    • @K3dzz
      @K3dzz Рік тому

      @@paulw6183 It’s absolutely not extortionate lol, it costs about 17 pounds return to get to central from St Albans, and takes less than 30 minutes. Zone 6 rarely takes half an hour and especially not the end of the line. On East Midlands it even takes only 35 minutes from Bedford where my parents live. I agree Watford is great too, but St Albans and Watford are only 10 miles apart anyway, on a train that’s nothing. It can also depend on which train service is available in your area. Thameslink or even London overground isn’t always the fastest as it stops at every stop, same with the tube

      It's around 20-25 quid a day, from st albans, same with luton, high wycombe etc. That's alot more than tube fares, it's okay if you dont work in London, If you do it's a big expense

    Kenyan-Brit here! I lived in London for 3 years on quite a low salary as well as a I was an apprentice straight from high school. The lowest I paid for rent (for a room) was 300, highest was 525. The lower figure was definitely rare and I totally get you on the city being expensive. I'd say 850 inclusive of everything is a good deal for your own place tbh. My food costs roughly came to 80 quid as well because I loved shopping in Aldi/Asda.
    I'd say once rent and transport are covered, everything else is really flexible and you can live on a pretty low income in the city. Having moved back to Kenya now, I don't think my current self would want to go back to London to live in the same predicament looool. I'm way too used to living by myself now and would only go back to try and achieve the same.

    I dont really get these videos. people always end up saying we need 2300 or 2600 a month and this is the basic . I dont know many people who make that amount. most people are making 1400 or less. a person working in Starbucks for example is not making anywhere near the amount of 2300 a month but they still love in London with a roof. im just a little confused. teachers in London are making 26 to 29 000 on average annual income. thats a teacher.

However, salaries differ with the city so for other cities am not sure but London has the highest salary and highest cost of living

      Minimum £1.2k and it varies with the area of course but the lower range of the payments is within that region.While saving the house deposit isnt easy to do because the property market is highly valued to get ,there is need for discipline to save the most.If it's on two salaries it's definitely doable.

    • @sharlenegumbo

      Hey- normally what's easy is if you have an accreditation already in your country so you can get to the UK and try to so a conversion if you institute has a relationship with the one in England. However if you are still at a stage where you aren't qualified you would need to intern for 3yrs at an Audit firm until you qualify so you will be looking for audit associate jobs although your salary will be low for sometime

    May I please ask what differences you notice between accounting in Africa and the UK? What difficulties did you face at first when you got the job?

    • @sharlenegumbo
      @sharlenegumbo  2 роки тому +4

      Very broad question, but I would say things in Africa are laid back in terms of deadlines etc where as in UK deadlines are to be met which makes the pressure a little bit much. In terms of my technical knowledge i was solid and had to get help or the UK specific regulations but nothing too crazy and I would get help if I was to work on complex areas which made it manageable.

      People own cars but it’s 2023 and the west is moving towards net zero emissions. Therefore, for most people is London, it’s unnecessarily expensive to use a car (you get charges the more central you go). Parking is also a big hassle and most companies will not provide parking spaces for less senior employees, as they opt for more central locations which obviously were built before cars. There’s a host of factors.
      Even those that have cars choose not to drive in central with them. Transport is sufficient and environmentally friendly. The Uk overall is a small place.
