Why did the horse cross the road?
To get to the other job site.
Yall hiring?
I know you usually don't show a home after you are done but I would love to see how Ramelle decorates it. I know it will be beautiful!
A.k.a. this old house reveal
I would love to see it all finished with furniture etc
Yes, me too! Loving her colors already!
Thanks folks! It will be a big maybe on on a video after my move in. I have to recover or make slipcovers for chairs and couch so that will take some time. It’ll be dependent on if Erik has time.
I am using the furniture I have, though are some new pieces I need- guest bed at some point but an old futon couch for now will work. I have only a little deck furniture and not sure when I will be able to purchase (or make) what I need.
IMO, the PBB crew does consistently beautiful work. Their clients have better living conditions as a result. Quality is Job 2!
I think the saw horse idea is a winner!!!! Build the brand bro!!!!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Nah, sorry but shipping a bunch of 2x4's just to get their name stamped on a sawhorse you could build yourself......
I was that person who misses pro tips 💯❤️
Keep your fingers out of the way *proceeds to shoot nail with finger there lol love it!
The tip of his gun was lower than his finger for that one mail and the ones that wen
came the write the exact same thing
Lol thought the same thing.
Yes, a pre-built sawhorse kit would be great. With the straps and brand, like Jason mentioned. I would buy one.
Only ONE? Sawhorses work best with a TWO horse team!
I love that! 💞 " Let's just put a few brads in" then in the same breath, " set one about every 4 inches!"
Arlo seems to be a genuinely skilled, precise, knowledgeable, and experienced wood worker / carpenter. You’re all lucky to have him ; )
See that Arlo is wearing a wooden boat hat, we need to see the boat he's building.
I noticed the hat as well. 30 years ago a co worker came over my house for the first time and noticed Wooden Boat mags on the coffee table and said "oh, I see you get Rotten Boat Magazine". We worked in the marine trades and laughed about that for years
People will love the saw horses
Wish I knew this great bunch of guys. I love their work. Be kind to each other. Stay safe. Love to all
"...it'll go right through your finger". Truth, AND it hurts like Hell.
Brilliant idea for scrap wood. At the end of a job with everyone, make the sawhorses, brand them, figure out the cost of each, charge a reasonable price, put profits in a kitty for worker job expenses, hiring some of your kids when they need job experience, promote the company, maybe split those profits towards college funds for all your kids.
14:14 jason has just a pure soul. all he wish for your company is best and support and encourages your ideas.. i mean i think all he said to add jaimies idea sounds great
jason is a brown noser and camera hog.
Nothing like having a good crew. Enjoy it and tell them thank you often.
Saw horses! 🪚 🐎
A craftsman is only as Sharp as his pencil.
Your floor protection. Looks exactly like Ramelle’s new floors. 😊
OMG Right? I was checking the comments to see if anyone else noticed that. On that beautiful new floor - Yikes!
"I think we could lea- ....oooooo" said in unison was the funniest thing I have ever heard
Ya'll being good sports about the constant presence of the homeowner--most builders and subs would cop an attitude.
It generally gets annoying. But I'm sure they will be paid a mint for this project. So it's worth it 😅
I do not like being watched.
well then you should put some tape on your net cam cause I see you sitting there in your spiderman underoos@@jamespppyacek342
I believe she's a friend/family friend or somethin like that... don't quote me but feel like I heard that mentioned in an earlier video.
She seems pretty relaxed and offers a helping hand all the time. I agree with what you're saying in most cases, customers can be a lot of trouble, but I don't imagine she puts a damper on anything with these guys. The vibe seems to be the same as it has been with every other build.
Considering how often they communicate with the homeowners, it's probably even convenient at times having them on site so frequently.
@@Shibby7634- thanks. You are correct in that I have known the PBB’s parents for well over 40 yrs and met Erik and Jaime as new borns. I have also known Arlo and Jono for 40+ yrs. It’s a tight community who interacts as family.
I appreciate your observations of my interactions with the entire crew! I feel like you are correct in your assumptions and am grateful to you for speaking up for me. This is not the typical client relationship nor am I a typical client. Grateful I was given license to participate in the build of my home, to get to know the ins and outs of how it was put together and to experience the crew’s camaraderie and humor first hand. There’s a lot of love that has been put into my home ❤
I don't know if it's appropriate to say, but the home owner seems like a really lovely person, she's seems like she's cool to work for. (from the little bits of her interaction we can see).
Thank you for your kind words. I am an old family friend of PBB and have also known Arlo and Jono for 40+yrs as well. I think that gives my relationship with the entire crew different slant than the average client.
That house is looking absolutely stellar, love Ramelles bold choices of colours, especially that rich dark blue!
Thanks for appreciating my choices!
Jason ain’t wrong. Make some sawhorse kits and brand them with PBB and people would buy them like hotcakes!
Another fun episode. Thanks crew!
I'd buy a sawhorse immediately
I love the shim cutting jig. I have one in my workbench. I call call it the “Shim-wow”.
One of the reasons I love watching you guys is the fact that you truly desire to produce a product to the best of your ability. Craftsmanship is so rare nowadays you all should be proud! Love the tips, and would love working with a group of guys who have fun cutting up while doing such great work. Looks like you're closing in on the 1M subscriber mark!! Congrats guys keep em coming.
.Arlo is such a treasure. He completes your crew and makes it solid.
Can you add an outro? What to expect next and what you accomplished? That’d be awesome! Love the show
Jason is 100% right. Count me in for a pair!
"Tub o towel " table saw dust deflector …..love it
Yes Please to a link to purchase PBB sawhorses made by Jamie!!!
6:38 Jono and Eric both walk away from the window jamb and realize at the same time, very funny 😂
Great idea for the saw horses
" It looks perfect! Did Ray do it?" 😂😂😂 Thanks for a good vlog and a good laugh!
You should totally make custom saw horse kits! I would buy one
Pro tip, split jamb doors.
Put your trim on the door before you set it and you don't have to frick with lining the jambs up.
I'm stoked for you guys on your near 1m. I've always said, good content comes from a large character base and each one of your characters have a distinct contribution.
So very nice. Another great video, I LOVE ALL YOU GUYS !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You guys should assemble the saw horse with some type of door hinges so it would fold up! That would be awesome!!
That is such a small propane tank for a house.
Thanks for building with us.
Thanks for the show guys 🍻 🇦🇺
I think the prefab saw horse idea is great and I would buy a pair or two!
Watching the Perkins brothers over the years has been a blessing and therapeutic for me. I’m jealous at what you have, working as brothers in crime building projects together. Seeing your interactions reminds me of my younger brother and only sibling who passed away at the young age of 22. That was 14 years ago. I can only wonder all things we would have created together if he was alive today. We’ve built plenty of projects in my shop and he was the smarter one since he was the engineer. Cherish the days you have together building amazing memories. Life is short and best wishes brother.
DEFINITELY A GREAT IDEA! I would definitely buy a set of them. ❤️😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I would buy a saw horse, especially if made by you all!
House is looking so good!
I always get excited when you post a new episode.
Your intros are tight, the editing is perfect, and your music is always enjoyable. Great job Eric!!
Really great work the crew is doing. They are all so cool and I love the banter. Hopefully I'll be watching for many many years to come.
Make the sawhorses. That’s a great idea
The saw horse idea is a great one
wow! i was originally impressed by the colors that Ramelle chose, and now, i can see what her vision is with her new home! the warm tone of the wooden trim is balancing out the cool tones in the blue! wonderful! A lot of modern homes these days go for a minimalistic look with white trim and baseboards, but it gets boring pretty fast.
This is so far my favourite build on your channel! Cant wait to see it all staged with the furniture and appliances and decor!
The more I see her place come together the more I wanna move back to NC and find her dating profile!
😂
Jaime talked me into the trim. So glad he did. I did not let him talk me into the stain color they usually use. I came up with a custom color with the help of Shannon at our “local” Lowe’s, to go as best I could with the flooring! Grateful they worked with me on that.
you can grift yourself into a new house!@@stephenj6837
Love the last shots of you all following the slowest of you back down the mountain. Jamie with the trailer?
The window frames are absolutely beautiful!
“pro tip, get your fingers out of the way” immediately puts his fingers right in the way
"You did a great job Jason, did Ray do it?" 🤣
Jay! Wondering suggestion on the saw horses!! Make them Jamie!!
Jason left the gate open and the saw horses escaped.
Maybe a few Perkins Builder Saw Horse competition prizes?
Arlo, your a champ! Well done guys 🎉
I just retired at 70 years old . I was a carpenter / jack of all trades for many years . build new houses and rebuilding older houses . I truly loved my job . I am what you might call a perfectionist . if it wasn`t right , it drove me bonkers . now I am from W.V. but have lived all over the country . if I was 20 or 30 years younger , I would have loved to work with you guys . you are my kind of people . love your videos
I think this was one of the best Perkins vids this year. Informative and hilarious. "We're down a few good horses" lol
26:11 never mind that yellow line. them mountain boys take a straight line in a curve!!!
As a trim carpenter, a track saw is your best friend for tapered extension jambs (or any tapered cut); it’s easier and faster than free hand ripping on the table saw or hand planing. Also narrow crown staples work well for extension jamb assembly and casing install into the jamb since they’re less likely to curl out from the hard grain. Plus they hold better than brads. (Use 15 or 16 gauge to attach outer edge of casing into framing. Also, everyone has different methods for trimming out windows-I like to install the extension jamb first using pocket screws into the window (if it’s wood); fill the cavity with window foam, then install casing. Sometimes you need to rabbet the back side of the casing, so by installing it separately, you can do all of these steps. To eliminate the gaps around your door casing, rabbet the backside of the casing. No one will notice the 11/16ths thickness along the Sheetrock side. The jamb side will be 3/4” with no gap.
Good ideas. I've done all those things. I just got a track saw though, so for tapers I would make a line and use my power planer to sneak up on it. I got really good at doing that. Working on old or wonky houses you gotta know how to improvise.
I had a room added on to our beach home by a local contractor. I chose to to all of the drywall and finish work myself. When it came time to do the window trim I went back to one of your previous videos and used your method. My trim came out perfect! My contractor was impressed with the final product. Thank you Perkins Crew.
saw horses, you say? Jason's got the right idea with the branded branding! haha.
I learned a technique building model airplanes that's useful for making nailed joints hold extra strong. Basically the technique works like this, put in a couple nails to hold things in the right place, then put in nails at opposing angles, like / \ or \ /. Since the nails are at an angle they cannot pull straight out, so it locks the joint together. For model airplanes this means the balsa strip you're placing is locked down until you pull out the pins, for a nailed joint it generally means it won't come apart unless you break the wood.
Definitely build the saw horses, just ask April Wilkerson, don’t forget the shim master 2000 jig.
Did anyone else see the third Perkins brother with the grey vest on?
After seeing you guys start the window trim/jamb technique some years back, I’ll never do window trim any other way. They always come out perfect. My dad was a nay sayer but when I had 3 done and perfect to his 1 which was out a touch, he became a convert
Bring on the sawhorses. I will take kits for sure.
Perkins Builder Brothers and a cup of coffee. A great way to start the day!
🪟🔨☕️ 👍
colour scheme of the house is fan-damn-tastic!
Thank you for appreciating my color choices. I also was the one that came up with the trim color to go as best I could with the flooring.
The flooring and window frames are stunning!!!! Spectacular design and finishing ‼️‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for appreciating my flooring choice. I, with help from Shannon at our “local” Lowe’s, came up with the custom color trim that works with the flooring. PBB has a particular stain color they like to use but it just didn’t make my heart sing.
I was so pleased with the detail
In the window trim. That 1/4” reveal makes a huge difference! Love these guys and their amazing skills!
“It’s Horse Mania”
Jason is the man! He’s right people would eat them up. Just for the Perkins name!
I love the colors she selected for her walls
Thanks for appreciating my color choices~
I love all the colors Ramelle chose. I'd love to see her home when she is done decorating!!!
Great saw horse idea. Like Jason always says, "Not just a hat rack".
Love watching your videos guys!
I would recommend screwing the 4 window jamb pieces together at the corners instead of using a nailer...this will prevent cracks opening up from expansion/contraction over time. The nailer is fine to connect the trim pieces to the jamb.
Awesome work guys!!!
Got my coffee,,,as usual great video,,,from now on would like them to be 30 min or longer please.
So Jason's pro tip [18:03] is to nail a stud so you don't have floppy wood?
I'm a big fan of Perkins Builder Brothers. Watch every video and have since the beginning. This is the first video were you didn't end with "Thanks for building with us." Not a knock, just wanted you to know that we're paying attention!!!
You better get that brand logo before Jason steals Jamie's sawhorse hustle
Love watching, I really learn so much.
That house is going to look awesome when you guys are finished.
it is a great little house
I think it's great on job sites where professionals admire other professionals work - your job came to a halt when the gas company showed up and you watched them place the tank. I'm sure they would do the same if they walked inside and watched you guys install window jambs.
I wish that those that did my windows had your knowledge. After watching y'all I go and check out the things around my place. But then I bought the place as is without the knowledge I'm getting from you. So thank you.
Jaime needs to make Ray a 1/4 reveal tool also
going to be fun to paint the gaps between the sets of three window frames, if the color ever gets changed.
You’re right-might need an artist’s brush to paint that area!
Been watching your channel for over a year and love every upload! I know Jamie catches a lot of (loving) flack from the crew when he rambles... but you can really hear his passion for what he does. You're all passionate and true craftsmen. Btw, I'm a structural engineer... I know you typically don't involve engineering but let me me know if you ever want some input. Keep up the great work!
These window frames look amazing. Compliments to you guys for the manufacturing, and Ramelle for the color pallet.
You are welcome. I also created the trim stain color with some tips from Shannon at our “local” Lowe’s. PBB has a color they use a lot but it was too dark for my taste and didn’t go with the flooring very well. I love to get creative!!
Hey guys, greetings from Sweden, like your channel, have followed you for a year or so, like your PROtips. Got one for you,
I have heard a hissing sound in this video, if I'm not mistaken, the air hose now has a hole. my tip is to check all hoses, nozzles and hand tools for the compressor.
many small leaks can mean that the compressor needs to work unnecessarily and you can save some power. Best regards /T
Sawhorses: do it. Will order 3 sets.
Always enjoy the Perkins Crew vids, great entertainment 🙂
That was a dirty burn on Volkswagen from Jono, but dirty burns are kinda their their thing.
This house is looking incredible.
I wanna put a shout out you Arlo. For your input, your support.
I'm keeping the boy straight, You're a D*** good carpenter. Again, thank Eric, Jamie, Jason, Jono, Anne ray, Thank you for all your input thank you
Build the horses!
