Also, soft closed hinges and drawer pull will at least make them feel like much higher quality I think. Great little weekend project
I’m really envious of you guys. Brothers working together. Young healthy families and beautiful homes. Living the dream! All the best for continuing success boys.
For sure. My brother is the complete opposite of me. He's indoorsy, and hires someone if he needs to hang a picture in his condo. And I've worked with a couple of crews that were fun people I liked to chill with, but it never lasted more than a couple projects. Who you work with, no matter what you do, is super-important.
You guys are goofballs, and I would totally love to work with you. As a contractor myself, I know how important it is to have good people working with you. Your channel is great, and I really enjoy the content!
I live in MA. and when my brother and I do a Kitchen remodel, we usually let our stone Guys take any existing stone countertops, most times they can sell the remnants and turn them into vanity tops. they will pop them off and take them with them on the day they install.
I installed countertops (laminate, quartz, natural stone, glass, Corian, etc) for 5 years. We tore out old tops on probably 30% of all installs we did. When removing, we always cut out the front and back piece on cooktops and sink holes completely (like left and right of the holes, front and back). That allowed us to be able to shimmy much smaller pieces of countertop off of the cabinets and out of the house.
I presently install countertops for home depot. For bigger tops just cut at the dishwasher with a jigsaw if possible. It contains all the saw dust on top of the dishwasher. Sink or cooktop is my 2nd choice. Also you have to put your level at the 90 between the cabinets to make sure both plans are at the same level.
I look forward to your videos so much that I'm bummed out if there isn't a new one next day, but always look forward for the next. Not a handyman myself, but got hooked on you. Thank goodness for that weird assed UA-cam algorithm that recommends random videos. You are all awesome, thanks!!

Hey, for the casement window cranks, they make handle replacements that are smaller, look like large wing nuts. That would buy you some thickness for the bay window platform.
You can also glue down a piece of melamine with the same draw of the countertop. It will look like it extends all the way up to the glass. Silicone on the seams will sealed watertide.
Coming from Wales, UK, the US houses are so lovely and vary so much in style. Ours all look the same. Your house is gorgeous, and that raised deck overlooking your land is lovely. Love the videos, keep them coming.
we here in Europe use roof tiles and on some roofs still thatch. Also wanted to say I always watch you I'm from the Netherlands and enjoy your work! it is nice to see how much difference there is in the houses with you they are wooden houses and with us concrete houses and nowadays the masonry walls come straight from the factory and a pipe is ready within a few hours only the inside still takes a lot of time. I'm an electrician myself and the differences are huge compared to how you do it there!
Here in Germany you can always see if something was built pre-war or afterwards. The old buildings are beautiful and filled with details while the newer ones are concrete slabs most of the time. I don't like the modern style but I guess it's cheap. I have the feeling that the US has way more house styles. Here things like roof pitch etc. are heavily regulated and I pretty much never see things like porches, bay windows, 'towers', or even bigger garages that are made for more than one car.
@@coalacorey nowadays there are more types of houses but most countries in europe do not have free architectural styles you have to build in the style that the municipality has determined

Here is a nice tip for the oscilating tool - in order for the blades to last longer you could use a vacuum cleaner attached to it - that will keep the blade cooler. And you should test the festool or fein blades - they are a looot better for wood.
It really does brighten up the space. I did the same thing at my place. I have very dark wood cabinet almost like a brown/red ish. And the white quartz countertop really brighten the space and made it look way better. I also changed hardware for a more modern style and it really helped and only cost like 200$ to do. On another note, here where i live in canada, its really common to refinish/repaint the cabinets. It gives it a 2nd life. You could probably have them painted light grey or event do a contrast with a darker grey on the island and the pantry cabinet/wall oven cabinets. Its way cheaper (here like 3500$ CAD to have someone professionally refinish them way cheaper than spending 20k on new cabinets. Anyway great video and sorry for the long comment, cheers🍻
You should always set up a laser when installing cabinets or checking them for that matter. The laser gives you one point of reference, using a level is harder and one cabinet to another could change just because of a racked cabinet, they are so easy to tweak and you need more than one level to get the job done, usually a big stick on your long front and back and a 24" for front to back. It is so much quicker and more accurate to use a self-leveling laser, the right tools for the right job lol. Sorry being a pro trim carpenter and many years of remodeling work as well as new construction you learn a few things lol. What's the use of knowledge if you don't pass it on
Forgive me for I’m ignorant. Is it possible that lasers weren’t normal back in the early 90s or so? I think they mentioned the 90’s when talking about the original countertop.
@@jax3032 The laser level was invented in the 1960s by Oscar Soliz who sold the rights and has been manufactured and developed into the lasers we use today. Also to add, yes fixing the flatness on those sags will help but regardless the installers are going to have to shim. That chunk of paint Ray pulled off at 17:10 reminds me of a piece of skin I pulled from a sunburn on the tops of my feet about 16 Fourth of Julys ago. Was a straight up Kraft single.
I’ve been slowly swapping out my halogen lights for LED lights, they’re a lot cooler. I too have a large bay window in front of the sink but it’s a pain to reach into so I have plans to replace mine when I get the time. Too bad that island countertop was busted up since it could’ve been used by someone somewhere. I’ve cut down many stone or solid surface countertops using just an abrasive masonry blade on a circular saw. I’ve even repurposed concrete sidewalk slabs using the same method, using a fan to blow the dust away and side doweled rebar for alignment…much like biscuits. I’ve never understood why anyone would pay such high prices for kitchen cabinets when they’re so easy to make. My dad was a cabinetmaker back in the 60’s & 70’s, making custom stuff for the rich in Palm Springs CA while living in Henderson NV (near Las Vegas) but I can assure you anyone can build cabinets, even me…an ironworker.
I am glad that you read my comment Jammie about shingles and dog houses 😁👍🏻I wachted more than 60 videos in one week, really enterteiment. Do not judge my English, that is my second/third language.

31:55 i had the same issue in my kitchen and just glued down some leftover vinyl flooring, which is really thin but durable. I'm pretty sure you can find this white marble pattern too(or at least very similar).
Re Jamie's comment about shingles, in Australia we never use shingles, we use concrete or terracotta tiles or more popularly metal sheeting like galvanized corrugated sheet or coloured steel sheet ( colour bond)
My Fathers and Grandparents bought a duplex built in 1998/1999. In the main bathroom there was the same kind of vent, just a hole in the floor beneath the cabinet and a vent on the kick plate. I always thought that was a half-ass maneuver. Made those cabinets either really cold or really hot!
I’ve worked in stone for the last few years. I create a virtual layout with dimensions, and I would’ve had the sales team inform you about the squareness issue. Both perimeter island no matter the area. Over 1/8” I notify people. Looks good! And the installers did a good job. 👍
I own a granite countertop company. The best way to check level or set cabinets is with a 360 laser level. Find the highest cabinet and work off of it . Split the laser line on the front edge of the cabinet and just hit the backside of it . They will be perfect all the way around since you had 2 seams . On white quartz on the seams standard razor blades will leave the seam looking a little grey sometimes. They make white ceramic razor blades now . Just for white quartz and seam glue .
I loved watching you Knuckleheads' try to unscrew the disposer mount. Anyone can do this with a little planning. The countertop people do all the real work . You guys just did the demo and leveled the cabinets. You didn't even know that the DW was fastened to the top. Rookies

I don't always use soap but yeah I do the same and I constantly wring the towel out. Then the towel gets bleached and it's like new! People are way too into all that Swiffer nonsense. Fold up a drop cloth or towel for your knees comfort and do the job right, right?
Cuban guy said "but my family lives in the city of Santo Domingo" (in Cuba). I figured someone would beat me to it seeing as I'm 100% gringo but I paid attention in Spanish class, lol! Nice video as always.
Hello fellas! I LOVE your videos! My husband and I want to build a summer home in the mountains of NC. and I have been trying to educate myself on the process. Where are you exactly? I am excited to have found you. The thing I admire most about you guys is your exacting work ethic...you do things right. I am not saying you are perfect builders and never make mistakes...but it seems to me, that you do everything you do as if you were doing it for your own mom!
A huge improvement, Erik! Great job, you guys!
Ok Erik I had same problem with my bay view window. Took handles off put in cnc mill cut them shorter redrilled hole voila. Jaime help your brother. That look in your eyes when Erik says your wife is here. Priceless. Hand in cookie jar, or bringing more junk to the house more like it. Great video.
haha well said.
Congratulations, you've single handedly cured thousands from attempting this as a DIY. Good job. Ray Stormont
That chunk of paint Ray pulled off at 17:10 reminds me of a piece of skin I pulled from a sunburn on the tops of my feet about 16 Fourth of Julys ago. Was a straight up Kraft single.
Your yard is beautiful!
Looking good guys…nice work everyone!
Kitchen looks beautiful
I am glad that you read my comment Jammie about shingles and dog houses 😁👍🏻I wachted more than 60 videos in one week, really enterteiment. Do not judge my English, that is my second/third language.
Beautiful transformation 😍 👏 I love the white with silver veins in counter top !! :)
Beautiful . Huge difference .
Hey Jamie I just wanted to say thanks for the video and all the let Jamie talk vids, big fan from south Africa cape Town
Hey thanks!
On the subject of roofing, In Ireland we mostly use either genuine or produced slate tiles. Before that and still to this day people use manufactured roof tiles. Love the videos guys.
You guys’ channel is 🔥!
Awesome work - looks beautiful!
I spy the NO LIFT INSTALL SYSTEM! Great video guys. Love it.
What an amazing tool!
Your kitchen looks very nice and I really like the Pro Tip that you guys used with the blue tape. I have to admit that I did the same thing with the leftover quartz pieces. I had them make me two cutting boards when our kitchen was done last year. 👍🏽
Just recently came across your channel and I’m really loving it so far. I like the wholesome content and love your relationship with your brother and your crew and how you all seem to enjoy your jobs working together.
Thanks for watching!
31:55 i had the same issue in my kitchen and just glued down some leftover vinyl flooring, which is really thin but durable. I'm pretty sure you can find this white marble pattern too(or at least very similar).
Only a carpenter would yank off the counter without taking the mounts off the dishwasher first 😂😂
Good stuff guys. Glad I found y’all.
Amazing work you guys do plus. I really like your videos learning a lot
This is the funniest one of your videos I’ve watched so far.
Love all the different shirts y’all are wearing. 😊
Beautiful remodel
It’s end up really nice. Good job.
Rookies
Men your Kitchen looks totally awesome and like me. I have to get so professional help to and I've been ground up construction for 37 years or more and it don't hurt to get a little help from the new guy's on the block because laying under and upside down, heck we're getting to OLD REALLY FOR THAT RIGHT?? But you have a beautiful home and you UA-cam channel is number one in my book brother so keep on keeping on guy's love all of you guy's !!!!
For the window cranks you can get an extension for the crank.
He Said his family lives in Santa Maria del mar In Cuba!! Tell him a fellow cuban says Acere Que Bola! Its also cool to see what you guys did. I work in doing countertops so i love watching it as much as doing it.
Excellent job, guys! Love it. Next stop, paint those cabinets!! 👊
Pro tip. Those clips on the dishwasher can be removed from the top of the dishwasher and moved to the side. That way you don't need the filler strip on the top. It definitely is a clean look the way you did it though.
Jamie almost read my comment from last week 😄😄😁😁
that "your wife is here" moment was hilarious.. again, love the show and the content...
Hope Jamie reads my comment 🙂😊😊
Oh I’m reading it right now! And I was caught off guard there when she showed up
On the oscillating blades I take a cut off wheel [ .045 ] on my 4 1/2 grinder and make new teeth. Works great on soft wood and dry wall. Came do it over and over .
? picture?
I’ve had to do stuff like this so many times, it’s maddening sometimes trying to get things plumb and level nice to see it done though
Totally worth the spend and it only adds value to your property, makes the space feel clean and inviting nice job.
