What an underrated gem!
This introduced me to the concept of Schenectady.
They showed it to us in English class at high School.
Bogdanovich was the star of the trailers for his films.
This film was not well reviewed, but I watched it again recently and I think it's better than it got credit for. Rather well done actually.
Where did you watch it i cant find itt
@@poop7911 It's streaming on Amazon Prime to rent or buy. Enjoy!
@@FirstHillSeattle thank you
Please where can I find it..
I got shtfaced on tequila with Barry Brown, in a stairwell in Hollywood, 1976. Fine actor and a great guy. Tore us up when he took his life over a girl that Geoffrey Lewis stole away and dumped 6 months later.
Something like that is always devastating. Looking at it from the outside in, you see that someone can't get beyond some sticking point that they think they cannot possibly get over. Sometimes you have to lay it all down and drown yourself in some other activity until you feel better and see it isn't the answer.
Rest in peace.
@@Lolabelle59 He was too damn young and you'd never think he was that depressed.
love this picture
Gosh, finally I've placed one of the actresses I saw on Downton Abbey. So neat to see this trailer.
I love the book and can see why the film failed. Cybil Shephard was luminous but a trifle too old for the part. She was the right type for Daisy, and if Bogdonavich had made this film four or five years earlier, she would have been perfect and the film probably would have been a success. We have to believe in Daisy's youth and innocence, it's the core of the story, and here Cybil is just not convincing. She's playing young and innocent, and it shows. The camera doesn't lie.
Had nothing to do with Cybil Shephard not being young-looking enough.
she was 23 while filming. how young were you hoping for?
@@h0b0camp4 well in the book Daisy is a teenager.
@@TheBrownIsland You're right. I watched the film today and gave up on it after about 10 minutes. I lay the blame on the director. Cybil's Daisy is so painful to watch because she is so clearly "acting," which if you've read the book goes against everything about Daisy Miller. She's supposed to be natural, unaffected. Bogdanovich should have yelled, "Cut! Cybil, stop 'acting!' and just 'be!'"
I agree 100%. She needed to be in her late teens and far more energetic. It says in the book that her voice is "thin," and that she "chatters" on. I think Cybil is absolutely lovely, but she was 23 here and actually looks a bit older. They needed someone younger and with a higher energy level. I'm truly not hating on Cybil, but this film really suffered from terrible casting.
I always thought Lynn Knowels looked like her. I pictured her when I was in England. Lynn had nautral blonde hair and dark eyebrows. So striking! Yet innocent in her own wey.
Excellent film
Where can we watch it
@@poop7911 with the name like yours, I would not have answered you either

Love period drama but this trailer looks very dull indeed!
