Been an F1 fan for almost 40 years and have never been to a race. One of my Bucket List items is to do a full paddock pass weekend. I don't even care which race at this point. I even have options in North America now. Even though Suzuka or Monza would be where I would go outside of the Americas where I live. I've almost saved enough. It'll happen soon.
Enjoy you trip when it come true😊
I think Hungary or Spain are the best value
@@LubomirGeorgiev I agree. I'm thinking about those also. Red Bull ring. Best track for paddock view? Does anyone know?
Wish you the best
oh mate, you missed the sounds of V12 screaming and the V10s, good times, good old days.
I know a Brit named John Grainger who went to all 16 races in 1991. I met him in Phoenix which was the first race that year and saw him again in Barcelona. There was an article written about him in Autosport at the end of the season in which he claimed to have spent $22,000 total. My how things have changed...
inflation says that's $700,000
using the original inflation calculator says that's 1.3 MILLION
As a retired photographer I could only marvel at how well you stitched that panorama together. Given the movement that was happening I am not sure how you did that.
I can only assume that you had multiple cameras covering each sector that all fired simultaineously.
Please correct me if am wrong.
Modern editing programs make it MUCH easier. Also a photographer, Kim shoots with a Canon R1 I believe, which is easily capable of 7 shots in no time at all to create this stitch.
One camera only.
That’s a different type of pano. If I had done that the picture would look completely different. This was just me standing in one spot and panning.
One fan who springs to mind is Moko, a Senegalese man often seen around the podiums, in a bright shirt, covered in gold jewellery. I think he's been to every race since 1979. Although I haven't seen him lately.
He’s not at anything like every race.
@@KymIllman What?
Yeah I see this guy all the time in Teds notebook he's almost always there the legend
Was going to mention him. He sells jewellery supplies teams I believe
@@NY-Vice Kym is saying he doubts this 'Moko' has been at 'every' race, Kym is at every race in recent years and hasn't seen him at 'every' race, that's all lol
Taking only one leg of a multi leg flight is called skip lagging, you’ll get away with it a few times as people do miss flights, but it’s against airline policy and they can cancel any future legs, future tickets, or even blacklist you for future flights.
Definitely something to be careful with if you travel a lot.
He was talking about skipping the return part rather than skipping portion of a connecting flight.
@@chankwanting I know, I don’t think there’s a separate term for it! There may be, but whatever the case to my knowledge the airlines still don’t like it. This is only sourced from a UA-camr, though they are a well respected travel hacker.
Looking at this, its probably safe to say kym spends US$350K a season. Well earnt after a successful career and I appreciate the great content he creates for us F1 fans.
Me watching this with £13.50 in savings 🤨
Can you lend me £5 until Monday?
y u broke?
Right?!😂I lost count midway through, LOL!😂
@@74_pelicansI can see his comment went over your head! I smell a 🤡
not a millionaire just here to manifest
Hi Kim, a friend of mine has a very wealthy husband and she has a new Ferrari every year (very nice). When she turned 50 he treated her to a whole year going to every race with Ferrari. She took a year off work as well. Hate to think of the costs but she did it. I did see her on TV as well as few times celebrating with the team. I’m sick with envy, I was with her a few weeks ago and she had a new Porsche GT3.
Take off from work?! Why work at all?!
@@CallieMasters5000 she loves her work which includes a lot of global travel as well, she works in the same area as me in the oil and gas industry
Imagine having a job with a company who lets you just take a whole year off lmao
@adysmiff1731 I don't think you can get much more detached from reality than this comment right here. Bravo.
Her and her husband have worked hard building his business up and enjoy their rewards. They both work hard and why not treat yourself if you can afford it. She enjoys her job so why pack it in. Just to make us all even more sick she has a lovely Ducati as well. I’m not jealous just because they have worked hard, taken risks and make it pay. I just wish I had done the same thing.
There was a guy from the UK I believe wrote a blog back in virgin racing days. Went to every race in the year. It was just his words. Great reading.
this goes on top of my bucket list,
and I don't even have a bucket list
"... and two meals at In N Out Burger, because you don't want to miss it."
*flashes Double-Double Animal Style Mafia gang sign* :D
We do a different F1 race every year. It gives us a good excuse to travel a different region every year. We have done all different styles of tickets from GA, to Pit Straight stands, corner Grandstands and a Bronze VIP at Monaco. I must say, there isn’t a bad way to do F1 if you are a true fan. The people you meet really adds to the experience. (Oh, if I did Japan again, I probably would want to re-mortgage the house and do a $12k helicopter transfer 😂 Took us 4 hours to get to the train this year) Loved this video mate!! 🇦🇺
Have to try this one year haha!!! Absolute madness but once in a lifetime
Wait a minute! What about the requisite Kym Illman photo books of every race and a copy of every special print and signed driver photo you do all year?! Plus membership in your UA-cam channel, bucket hats and highest Patreon level, of course. That's a bloody fortune. 😁
Yes I do feel if you went to all the races, you would also want a photo book of every race!
Hell if you pre-purchased it at the beginning of the year, maybe Kym would even take your photo at every race for you (for a fee of course)
And I watch F1 highlights on UA-cam for free 😂
I think we all do that.
I believe that is the majority of how people watch Formula 1 GP.
i pay 7$ per year and watch every race, qualifying and practice
Wow.
watching F1 in Black & White on a 32inch TV doesn't rate as a great experience ....
@@swdoctorI genuinely can’t think of a better experience 😎
How
@@swdoctorwhy would it be in black and white?
I've been an F1 fan since the early 70s and the only F1 race I attended was Canada back in October of 1976 at Mosport. Let me tell you, October in Ontario was a cold weekend of camping.
I love the In and out Burger part! Kym, this was an amazing video. I’m glad that you covered both upper and lower scenarios. This video had to be a lot of BTS work. I commend you, as a frequent traveler. Some people cannot even conceive how time consuming this research is.
Just researching the flight was a nightmare
I really appreciate that you took the time to do both. It's quite interesting to see the difference
Can you please also make a video - "The PAUPER's guide to F1!". More useful to me. Thanks, Kym
you are the best on you tube Kym! thanks for your luxury, high end videos. I'm from Hungary, Budapest who lives in New Zealand, and you describe Budapest as a great city. Cheers for that Kym! See you in Azerbaijan
Back in the 90's there was a Brazilian guy who won the lottery and spent a lot of money following F1 for years, he was often seen on TV handing the Brazilian flag to the drivers after a win.
Dam less than a % of us watching cant afford....wat a jab Kym😭😭😭
Its facts dou
Kym is definitely a millionaire
Seeing Lawrence's picture, how does his health look? His plane has been into Rochester Minnesota over a half dozen times over the past year - including a number of over night stays and return trips exactly 1 week later. Only thing there of note is the Mayo Clinic. Can't find any business there related to his empire. Hope all is well in the Stroll family.
That could easily be for business… he does not need to own a business there to go for business.
Lawrence used to enjoy visiting his friend Jeffrey's island but I heard it got shut down, so perhaps he found a new place to hang out in Minnesota.
The amber lounge in Singapore was great last year
Hysterical to see you battling our recent WA weather in your outtake section 🤣
My first race experience was ‘23 Monaco. Looking forward to going to an iconic race in the ‘25 season with Hamilton moving over to Ferrari 🎉
Is it getting cold in Perth at this time of year? Do you think the disqualification of Mkagnasun a further justification for three driver teams to be introduced.
The junior driver to undertake the minimum of three races a year? The extension of the F1 race calendar, often fly away races, put a heavy cost on teams and personal with exhaustion. The three driver team structure helps with extending more races on the calendar without destroying competition through attrition exhaustion.
I just wonder if there is a millionaire who will find this video helpful
Closest I have done was Montreal and Indy back to back in 2005. Montreal was great as always and well Indy sucked with only 6 cars on track. Total cost was close to $18K as I stayed in Manhattan between races and spent a lot of money at B&H photo.
I’m going to COTA later this year and this is my first time going to a race. I’m going from the thursday- Monday and I’m scrounging up any money I can to be able to eat while I’m there plus travel fees
This video is in-sane on so many levels 🤯
Gonna hopefully do it twice with the misses & Vlog both Pov from Budget then from Luxury
Perhaps Moko, from Senegal, who has been following F1 around the world since 1979, and is often seen in the paddock
He doesn’t do all races.
Im loving your content more and more each day ILLMAN 👌🕵
This one’s definitely on the list
F1TV Pro. All of the practice sessions, Quali's, races live or replay, pre and post race shows and an archive to watch races from the past and much more.$85 USD per year. Money available to support my favorite F1 UA-cam content creator and Master Photographer. Thanks Kym for your awesome work.
Your viewership is always appreciated Terry! Thanks for always supporting my work!
Great video - would love to see what camera costs would add to this for a luxury/budget enthusiast.
Living in a remote region in Australia really affects the Flight portion. I have only been to 3 races internationally, COTA, Sochi and Suzuka and average price on flights in economy are $3500 for each race destination from where I am (Multiple flights). I Really need to win that Powerball Lottery.. :P
It certinaly makes things harder living in Australia, but I wouldn't have it any other way!
Great video and detailed information - thanks Kym 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Kim, very nice photos👍 What is your go to camera for the season? Do you use single camera for photos and videos? Can you share what’s in your camera bag?
Have a look at my camera kit video on my UA-cam UA-cam channel for all the details
Was there not a Dutch guy (Taco Ketelaar?) who went to a whole season recently? He even got himself a spot on the RB team photo. He is wealthy enough to afford a whole season.
Did you watch the whole video?
Outstanding Kym! Thank you.👍
My pleasure!
Almost US$1M for a bucket list item! 😱
cool vid, no car needed for Abu Dhabi too.. W hotel is on the track..
Few if any stay at the W. Too noisey
You never fail to entertain !!
Did I see 800 AUD? Wow!
Thanks, I'm booking everything today 🤣🤣🤣. On a student salary I should be able to afford half a race ticket.
It was nice seeing you at Ziggo Sport Race Cafe!
You forgot to budget security in some of those places. Especially if you’re a person of wealth.
Thanks for the info kym!!
Thanks for the video Kym, setting up a GoFundMe now.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks to a Corporate Sponsor, I did have the Millionaire experience in Montreal, Canada before Covid shut down. Since then I've not been to another race. I've been to dozens of Indy car and Nascar races in the past, so I know how terrible to be with the other half. Your stitching makes the front stretch looks like a there is a turn in the middle. You could not make it more realistic I guess :)
To make it flat, I’d need to do an elevation panorama pic. But that entails taking seven shots from seven different positions straight ahead. Or use seven cameras 30m apart, neither would’ve been possible
Just bought my tickets for the UK Euro Millions - £125 Million - See you in Melbourne 🤞
Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm going to win the Euromillion tonight.
I'll just stick to my sofa and tv while cracking a cold one
Hey Kym, thanks for this video lots of info! My question is for yourself, since you travel with each race, do you charge anyone for these costs and you do the entire booking? or do the teams book travel/accommodations/food for you?
No drama's I'll get booking for my $1,200,000 aud trip right now, that doesn't include flights from Bendigo to Sydney and back for any of the days being back home in Oz. Oh ok maybe I'll go the cheap option st about $80,000 aud before flights out of Bendigo etc as well 😂
I would love to do at least 1 race with luxury but i have MS, so i probably am 2 tired to do it and money would also be a problem, but yeah i would love to do at least one.
Love your videos 😎😁
That does in fact make me feel quite poor not gonna lie
Depends completely on when you searched for flights. If those Sept 5th Google flights searches where just now as you made the video then they’ll be astronomical
I would need to sleep under a tarp just outside the track gates and sneak into the track every day, only way there and home would be to work on a steamer
Kym any chance you could do a special about the f1 trucks please? I'm a hgv driver.
All I need to do now is to win the euro lottery 🤣
Marketing genius
Canadian costs are mean!
Also make a budget traveler's guide to F!!
It’s in this video
*makes mental notes like I could afford it*
Hope to meet you in Vegas ❤
ah yes I've been needing a guide for my luxurious needs
Here's how to do this, hand any team a check for 5 million dollars and say take me with
I'd bet it's north of triple those numbers in reality. You should talk to Joe Saward to see what he's spent over the last 20+ years.
Kym, are you employed by a company or are you freelance? Who covers your expenses? BTW I love your channel.
Freelance
You should definitely sell Kim Illman branded scarves 🤑
They’re coming
I'd be curious which option you have chosen🙂
The scarfs are back!
It’s bitterly cold in WA at present.
Interesting comparison between the wealthy and common folks . Get info Kym
Please if you have time do one for each race
Cant intentially skip a return to get a better price, you get black liisted...
Here before you change the thumbnail from Toto Wolff to Lawrance Stroll
yeah Australia wake up !!!.... allow crowd on track at the end !
There's someone I've seen for years now on TV at every race. A black man who dresses in flamboyant colours. So I'm sure a lot of people like him.
Has anyone done it? Well kind of. YOU!
Did we just see a preview of your soon to be sold online scarfs? I like'm, I'll buy it, I already have your bucket hat, love'm! My wife: what did you buy? bucket hat from Kym Illman. Who? ' Don't worry hunny! How much did it cost? Not as much as your purse I bought you last week. End of discussion ;) Thank you Sir Illman!
We got a scarf sample and they were terrible. So that plan has been set back.
@@KymIllman Too bad, they looked cool, but good that you went for quality and not earnings! I like the bucket hat, got two, don't mind people complaining they are pricey, I myself don't care, they are awesome!
Just wondering who pays for your flights and accommodation?
But if you're example last name Strolovitch and owns a F1 team....all access tickets are yours and get your friends to be with you.....
Next we need the billionaires guide to f1
Thanks
And thanks to you.
If i could, i would
Doing it on the cheap would feel like a job.
I need to win the lottery lol
Hmm, bits of this are suspiciously similar to the first class way Kim travels to races. Minus the extravagant“bizarre extras” of course. Hold On, there’s a Message[s] there about that being a well earned benefit of this not being the main source of income though.
Is there a digital version available of your panorama photo from Monza? 600 USD for the smallest print is a bit pricey, isn't it? 🤯
No. Just prints.
Good video but Information we did not need. Once I attend one race in the country I'm in then I'm good.
How much do you spend on average per season?
Pondering this is about all I'll do lol
Damn Kim you must be rich 😅
He is. Look at his biography.
Have we got 2025 races
