Kaneohe has soooo many local grinds for sure. 😋The K-town Loco Moco with the 4th of July fireworks looked fire🔥!! Added to the list…We pass by Kim Chee I so many times and wondered about it…not wondering anymore!! Added it to the list especially with your reaction from the chicken katsu.😋Definitely affordable prices too!! Coral Kingdom is another spot we’ve passed always seeing the Huli Huli chicken outside. Cool to know it’s made Filipino style!! Never knew much about the Old Pali Hwy or the Friendship Garden but now we know!! So sorry you got picked on when you were younger but I (Michelle) can totally relate to being disciplined with the slipper but instead of the back scratcher it was a big wooden spoon!! Ouch!! Mahalo for sharing that amazing spot at the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. Absolutely in love with the Ko’olau mountains!! They get more majestic and stunning every time we see them!!
Check out KBayBros Fish & Ice for some amazing Poke!! Right next to Windward Mall. One of our favorite Poke spots on the island!! Also love Gotz Grindz for the variety of musubis and other Japanese dishes like their gyudon and their bentos!! 😋😋

In 1966 a friend of mine and I took a drive up the old Pali road and got stuck. It took us about an hour to get the car unstuck. I loved being stationed in Kaneohe.

It was funny because I never saw the chickens there and a family of chickens and chicks were walking toward us . Mind you this was a first time trip there so a lot of stuff was awesome for them to see . my aunty lived in Kailua when I came and I visited her after not seeing her for over thirty years and my daughter made the trip more special for us when she greeted us with lei's at the airport. Everything was amazing especially the food, I gained 6 pounds . My daughter lives on Molokai and I have family on Big island, all over 😂. Stay blessed and keep up the good videos. I was born and raised in Kaneohe. Left decades ago but my brother still lives there. Still have fond memories, especially about the food. My grandmother owned an okazuya in Kaneohe and I remember going there all the time.

@@SeanKaleponi Hii Sean. don't have any pictures of her shop. That was decades ago. I looked and there's another okazu-ya in the same location now called Chi-Chan's.
Before she moved there, her place was across the street from the Jack in The Box. (Is the crack seed store still there?). If I recall correctly, it was next to a medical building. My pediatrician used to have his office there.
Was there in June. My mother passed away earlier I I returned for her memorial service. Kaneohe has changed but part of it is still there. Zippy's is still there as well as the Chinese restaurant next to the post office.

When I lived in Kaneohe the pancake house was called KOA…. Great spot. Surprised you didn’t mention Haleiwa Joe’s in Haiku? Used to walk down for their Sunday Prime Rib brunch buffet. Hopefully they bring it back someday. Great video… Made me miss living there! 🤙🏻
Aloha and yes.. I remember when it was called Koa too and Haleiwa Joe's is good but gosh.. they don't do reservations and such a long wait to get in but one day we'll eat there. Prime Rib is soo good there when I went for a Wedding celebration.🤙👍😋
@@SeanKaleponi Aloha….The prime Rib is worth the wait for sure…. But if you don’t get there early it may be solid out. The escargot is great too as an appetizer. If you ever go I’d be interested in your opinion. 🤙🏻
Thanks for the recommendation to the Kaneohe pancake house. Had my first Moco Loco and my entire family of 6 loved theirs as well. The staff were all very nice! We also enjoy the stadium flea market to pick up souvenirs! Love watching your channel.

Back when we came for our 25th Wedding Anniversary (married at the Wahiawa Botanical Gardens in 1976), we stayed at a place called Schrader's in Kaneohe. Was right on the bay in a residential neighborhood (I think it has been turned into Paradise Bay). We loved it - so low key, our unit was right on the water with a coconut palm growing right up through the lanai and when the tide came in, the water came up underneath us. The view was spectacular. We were appalled at what Waikiki had turned into, but the windward side was still laid back and we spent a lot of time there and at the north shore. If we are lucky enough to make it back, will check out some of the places on this vlog - they look amazing.

I stopped by at the Mac farm and saw the Snowball cookies. $9.95. Your production cost mist be enormous. 😊. I did not get the cookie but I drank the sample coffee and purchased few sauces.
Aloha Min.. the snowball cookies aren't the same as when I went back in early 2021. Higher cost and less quality. But overall MacNut Farm is a good place to go🤙😋

KBay is my favorite spot on Oahu. Was just there last week to visit ohana. I didn't go anywhere noticeable though. Dropped by Island Snow but their shave ice is nothing like Matsumoto's. It's just a convenience factor when out and about. haha. Thanks so much for this video!

I remember "Secret beach" (Camp kualoa) was in that very spot when I was a kid in the early 80's, loved those days. Always wondered about the area after the camps ended with title 1 parks and Rec.
