My lucky money bamboo is 25 years old. I don't use soil, she simply sits in her filtered water with river rocks & grows. Although, I _do_ allow her water to sit & I just add more when she gets low. She grows algae sure but if she's happy, I ain't changing whatever it is that I'm doing. With my luck I'd kill her. However, I do clean her water completely every 6 months or so. She _must_ be happy? She's currently sitting at well over 6 feet tall & very bushy! It's to the point that I use fishing line to help her stand so tall, in her own little corner of my front entryway. She's the 1st thing folks see when they enter my home & I love her tons. I've even got a few babies propagating, right now. Thanks for this video, now I have another way to share her with family & friends. Happy growing everybody! 😘💕

So in all these videos , no one ever says how long it takes for leaves to grow from the bottom piece, after they have the roots ! Mine has roots on the top half with the leaves, and the bottom piece. and I’m ready to put both back in soil. Can I put the bottom piece back in the pot with soil before it develops a leaf ?

Hi, Thanks for watching. Can you please clarify your question? What do you mean by the bottom half has roots?

@@EdenMakers if you cut one 8” bamboo stalk in half . The top piece has the leaves. The bottom piece has the roots. You put candle wax on the cut part of the bottom piece, it has its roots, so you put it in water. You put the top part in water so it can develop its roots. Both pieces have been in small vases for 2 months. I use water from my fish tank. I’ve changed the water in the vases several times in that 2 months. Both pieces have roots now. They both look a healthy green colour. The same colour the entire piece , before cutting , had , when it was one plant . I think that if the bottom piece , with no leaves but roots, would develop leaves faster if it is in soil. There’s more nutrients in soil than just water.

@@jmdq1 I understand better now, thank you for clarifying.
When transitioning lucky bamboo from water to soil the plant will go through a transition period:
      1. Root Changes:Roots adapt structure and function to absorb nutrients from soil instead of water.
      2. Moisture and Nutrient Shift: Roots adjust to absorb moisture and nutrients from soil, no longer relying on a water source.
      3. Strengthening Roots: Roots strengthen for stability and support in the soil.
      4. Aerial Roots Adaptation: Aerial roots may adapt to function as regular roots, aiding nutrient absorption from soil.
      5. Adjustment Period: Expect a transition period where the plant adapts to the soil environment. These changes enable the lucky bamboo to thrive in a new soil medium.
