*My lucky bamboo is so much happier in soil! That's it's natural habitat and it will grow well there.* 🌱🌱
do you have a video or picture of what they look like now in soil?? I gave my son some for his apartment maybe I should do that for him too
Thought you said it's not Bamboo. Is it still ok to repot Bamboo in soil too?
@@deniceouellette7216 if you are referring to the plant called lucky bamboo, that is actually a draceana. I can't remember its name though.....maybe Braunii??? Yes I think so. Check that out
Hi...Can you give me an update on how this plant is doing in soil?
Any updates
Im repotting in soil today, i have my premium soil just waiting on my pot to be delivered today
I am transferring my lucky Bamboo plant from water to soil today. Thank you for the tips.
Good luck!
I just saw your Lowes clearance plant video. If you visit certain Home Depots, in the large blue dumpsters next to the garden section, you can find a lot of plants that were thrown away that can easily be revived. Almost my entire succulent collection contains plants that were rescued from the dumpster. It sounds gross, but only garden stuff is thrown away there. I’ve also scored some plastic pots as well.
Thanks for the suggestion Holden. I've been known to rescue items from the dumpster, so no shame in that! 😀 Thanks so much for watching!
OMG how sweet is that!!! I would love to get free plants like that but nor getting caught digging in...lol
I wish I saw this sooner! I saw an aloe at home depot that looked pretty bad. There were two in one pot, bending and breaking the pot and so squished. I wanted to bring it home and nurse it back to health but when I went back for it, it was gone. I figured either someone bought it or the store threw it out.
Holden Strickland do you know when is a good time to go check?
Oh wow, didn't know this...thanks for sharing! ☺ There should be a "rehabilitation clinic" for dying plants instead of just tossing them out...😒 nurse 'em back to health, and find homes for them!
My lucky bamboo has been in water the last three years, the leaves have begun turning that exact pale color yours have, I repotted it in hopes the soil helps my plant baby thrive. Wish me luck ❤️
howd it go?
@@user-ux1fs9mz7u so it’s been a month since repotting it, and honestly, it seemed like my bamboo was shocked for quite some time and it’s barely getting used to the soil. Made me nervous at first honestly. BUT, finally It does look a lot greener, doesn’t require much watering and is so much healthier than before so I do recommend if you are thinking about it. (:
How is your bamboo doing now? I have one that I'm thinking about transferring to soil. I just bought it.
@@katerockhill7726 soooo much better! It’s so green and happy now! I wish I did it sooner. Highly recommend misting every other day as well.
I do have a lucky bamboo and I actually think of transferring it right now.
Thank you. You actually helped a lot.
I have Three and did just as you Today? Glad I came across ur video, cause it was looking yellow just like urs! Thank you! I hope they come to life and add prosperity and good health! ✨✨
Thank you for this! I’ve had my lucky bamboo plants in water/pebbles for a couple years, but was worried about moving cross country with them in such a delicate state. Your video is exactly the solution I needed! Looking forward to grouping my lucky bamboo into one pot with soil/pebbles for nourishment and structure.
Wonderful! I'm so glad it was a solution for you, good luck.
thank you for this great information sweetie! I was getting ready to repot two of my lucky bamboo and decided I would look up and see exactly how I should do it and your video popped up! I'm so glad because now I am going to put mine in potting soil! I look forward to seeing more of your videos! I don't do that well with houseplants, I have tons of succulents I live in southern California! I look forward to filming this for my viewers!
Thanks so much for visiting Debrajoy! Mine is still doing great in soil. I would love to see your succulents. I'm in Phoenix and have many out on my balcony.
I've been wanting to transplant my bamboo in soil. I watched your video, so I'm going to try this and hope they look as nice as yours. Thanks so much!!
I was just changing the water for my lucky bamboo when I thought maybe I should put it in soil. Your video was the first one I saw! Five minutes later im sitting on my porch transplanting them!
I was just given a plant that had been on the desk of my husband's co-worker for months.....I am definitely taking it out of its water and planting it in soil! Perfect timing for this video! Thank you soooo much!
You're very welcome Aubrey! Let me know how it works out for you and good luck! 👍
i just got my lucky bamboo plant and i wasn’t quite sure how to pot it correctly.. thank you for the video! :D
sanderiana dracaena and they are native to Africa from Cameroon. Most people sale these and have no clue about them...and their real habits. The jungles of Africa. Thanks for sharing. You are awesome!
thanks for the tip
*I WAS LOOKING FOR A VIDEO EXACTLY LIKE THIS!* I had a lucky bamboo that I loved, but it was lost for a variety of reasons... so I wanted to start over. When I got my new shoots home I wondered if I could plant them in dirt knowing bamboo looks like it grows in dirt naturally. Lo and behold this was the first video I came across that answered ALL my questions! So now its in dirt with my fingers crossed that it likes its home. *THANKYOU!!*
So glad it was helpful for you! Good luck with your shoots. Mine are still going strong!
That was so sweet Carmen.
Keep it up!
Just got some lucky bamboo and decided to watch a video how to take care of it thanks for the video.....very helpful....
Carmen,
Thank you for such a lovely video. Additionally, I love your narration style-I appreciate your love for plants!
Yes! I do have a Lucky Bamboo; I plan to use your method right now.
Peace & Blessings!
Thanks for sharing! My search led me to your video first and I learned all I needed to learn in order to repot my lucky bamboo so I don’t need to go any further 😊😊
Looks really pretty in it’s new pot! Never even thought about the Lucky Bamboo being planted in soil! I may give it a try! Thanks for sharing!
I didn't either until I came across a plant tour video showing it planted in soil. Let me know how it works out for you! And thanks for watching!
Carmen I love your channel!! I think plants are so important to keep in the home. My momma has so many currently and when she's out of town it's my job to care for her "babies." :)
Yes, I have a lucky bamboo, and I transferred mines from water to soil, and it took off growing. It's so pretty now
Thank you so much Carmen! I rooted a clipping from my daughter's plant, which had been in water. This was very helpful!
You are so welcome!
I never knew that they were supposed to be in soil till today. I have 3 that have been in water for almost 4 yrs! I started to notice the leaves starting to turn yellow so in researching the reason I now know. I'm transplanting them now! Your video is my guide! I like the fact that you mentioned north window, because my bedroom windows face north! I knew no direct sun but I thought to myself maybe north is to dim! Thank you!
That is awesome! So glad my video was helpful.
@@carmenwhitehead Also, I forgot to express, I love your tip on adding the colored stones on top, to retain moisture, that's unique! I do have a question? I completed the task yesterday, when it's time to water them am I supposed to water company them until I see water draining into the bottom water catch pan or do I water lightly? Thank you!
Thank you Carmen, it was easy and my lucky bamboo plants look so good in my new pot. I put them in my bedroom as well near my work area. I had a feeling that the soil would be a better fit for these plants I just needed some more information and you broke it down. Thanks a again.💞💞💞
You are so welcome!
Hello Carmen & thank you. I just learned that I could transfer mine to soil last week via another youtuber. I bought soil, pot & planted them today. Thanks for the reminder to fertilize & when
You're very welcome! Good luck!
Thank you so much on your video. I've got a lucky bamboo had for 6 years growing in water knew why it's got pale leaves so now I'm going to put it in soil today
Hi..so my neighbor gave me her lucky bamboo plant which is in a large pot with tiny pebble...it started to yellow so I'm going to transfer it to soil...I'm excited...thank you for the great video..😊
I have had my Bamboo in water for the past 4-5 years and never any issues with it growing or staying green. About 2 times a year I add about 4 ml. of a light fertilizer to the water and then leave it alone. I do let it dry out about every 3 months and not give it any water for about 1 week, a friend gave me this tip and it works awesome. No need for soil at all :-)
Glad that's working out for you.
I definitely agree. My mother’s bamboo plant which started off as a propagation had spent its whole life (the last 7 or 8 years) in water and survived beautifully. I moved it to soil a few days ago and I’m a bit nervous, I won’t lie. But yes, bamboo can definitely thrive in water 💕
Was looking to see if I could transplant bamboo from stones to soil and found your site. So I transplanted some sad roots and will put it in a good spot and see how it transforms. Love your channel!
I received a lucky bamboo some time around 2010. It sat nicely on my desk in a 8oz. container of water. I still have it today! It is over 5ft. tall & is in a 2 gallon container of water. I'm hoping to transfer it to soil without it dying. You're video was very informative & easy to follow. Wish me luck & thank you for your video
Thanks so much for stopping by and good luck!
I’ve been rooting mine from stalks and I think they’re ready for soil! Thank you!
Good luck!
Yes ! Lucky bamboo grow well in soil... thanx 4 sharing
Thank you for the information; I inherited some lucky bamboo that was in bad shape, so I've been able to save some of it and have had it in water, and it's getting better, but I think it would be happier in soil.
Today i tried to find a good video to replant my sons littlw babboo (or not bamboo) and i found u!! Thank u. Love how u did this and so helpful. Ill be watching u
So glad you found me and the video was helpful. Welcome!
Nice to hear from locals ! ☺️
Just bought two clusters of Lucky Bambo and planting in soil as you show in your video. Thanks!!!
Wonderful! Good luck!
I'm in the process of transferring mine to soil now, hopefully it does well bc some of my leaves are yellowish in color! Thanks so much for all your suggestions!
How did it go?
Thanks for the advice, I’m going to try mine in a glass vase with pebbles at the bottom some soil and pebbles at the top. I hope that works but your advice was wonderful thank you.
Love your video, I'm definitely going to plant my lucky bamboo in soil. I have one that is about 2-1/2 feet tall, and it's still in it's original container with rocks and water. I think it will love the soil, as some of the ends of the leaves are brown, but it's mostly hardy and green.
Good luck to you! Remember to water it with filtered or distilled water once you replant it. It's been in water a long time and will need some time to get use to the soil.
I just repotted mines in soil as I watch you thank you
wow... it's nice to have a plants inside the bedroom, it helps to improve relaxing mood and sleep well.
Lucky Bamboo is of the good indoor plants 🍀🌿
Thank you for this video. I am going to transplant my lucky bamboo tomorrow. This is very helpful!!!
Glad it was helpful!😊🌱
Thanks for video...got 3 cuttings yesterday and plan to pot in soil
Thank you, yes mine has been in a very small ornamental rooster, and it's growing so tall, I feel so bad the only nutrients it's been getting is the sun , for years since I got it, so I i looked it up and came across your video, thanks so much!! I will be returning it to soil today!! 😁🙏🪄 Peace and Blessings 🙏🌍🕊️☮️🙏
i have done this and i was a bit afraid...so i researched and i was led to you! Thanks just the answers i needed!
So glad it helped you! BTW, my plant is doing great and thriving.
Great video. Best one ive seen for explaining how to transfer these "lil bamboo" into soil.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Carmen I just saw your video and I am going Replance my 2 plants that I have thank you very much You video help me

thk u for the video...i do have a lucky bamboo that s not been so lucky...i had 4 stalks i salvedged half of a stalk...been in water and not thriving...i will re pot it to soil in the next week and hopefully give it new life
I really like the pot with the face on it, very cool!
Thank you, I painted that myself. I appreciate your visiting!
yes i plan to transplant my lucky bamboo into another larger pot the pot that it is in is very small i have some fresh compost and i look forward to seeing it grow in another larger pot.
Yes I will be reporting my lucky bamboo from soilless pot. It is in a kind of tiny pot …. It’s got some soil in it I think. Its roots are in this tiny basket inside a small ceramic pot with gravel on the top. I gave it some fertilizer and it grew so big it is very top heavy! Thank you for your clear concise video. 😊
Sounds great! You're very welcome!
Thank you Carmen, this was so helpful. I have a lucky bamboo that is almost 6 years old and has been growing in rocks and water and after I transplanted it to a larger pot last year it has not done well and started turning yellow. I took it out of its pot and discovered its roots smelled stinky. I found a video about using hydrogen peroxide in dilution to clean the roots, and it has gotten better, but it keeps getting stinky again. I am cleaning it one more time and after seeing your video I want to try planting it in soil. Poor thing, its been in rocks and water all this time, I look forward to seeing how it does in soil and with some fertilizer. I've never fertilized it.
Hey Carmen, Thank you for this video :) it’s nice and clear and very helpful, my mum got me some lucky bamboo for my birthday but I have no knowledge about this sort of thing so this was great, thank you! :)
❤️ your plants. Am starting my journey. I always have plants but I am going all the way.
Learn something everyday, thank you!
So glad it was helpful Erica!
Very interesting video Carmen. I wish the plant feel better in the soil. I like your pot. You are anincredible artist.
Thanks Olga! I think it will be much happier now.
Your pot is adorable and also love getting my hands n nails dirty. Soo therapeutic. After watching this video it reminds me to put mine in soil. It looks great.
It's definitely therapeutic! I also love watering my plants. When I had a patio and access to a hose, I use to love the smell of a freshly watered plants and clean patio. I know weird, but other plant lovers understand! 😀
Good choice as channal thank you so much Carmen 👍👍👍
Thank you for the tip
Thank you ....going to try it...
Looks really pretty!! Love how it looks in that pot! :)
Thanks Lisett! I appreciate your watching! 👍
Few stalks of the plant I had were turning yellow and were kind of softening up.So decided to transfer them into soil after going through your video.
Hope they survive cause they were my bday gift 🙃
Just keep an eye on them. Good luck!
How is it now
THANKS FOR YOUR TIP ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. I will try this.
Looks great in its new pot, please keep us uptated on how it does :)
I will definitely keep you updated! Thanks for visiting! 👍
A very useful video, many thanks. Just found one of these from in my local store, reduced and it looks untended for. Your tips wills hopefully bring it back from the brink.
I'm so glad you found it useful. Good luck!
So I brought this plant at a little boutique, almost a year ago and I kept it in water but it wasn't really growing, so I have a lot of little pots and some potting soil around, so I did just what you said so we'll see how it works.I only did it 😅a few minutes ago😊
thank you. I did the same thing 3 days ago let's see what happens
anyway thank you again an god bless you always. from
New York City.🤗
Thank you so much for visiting. Mine is doing fine still.
So happy I found this video. I was gifted a Lucky Bamboo and now it looks rather pathetic. I've got everything to repot, so I'm hoping I can salvage it and give it new life.
They need water, soil and plant food and undirected sun light; fertilizer only when needed 😘 Thanks for sharing this, a lot of people doesn’t know this, so yes thanks for educating!🌈🙌
You're very welcome!
Great video. I never that you could plant bamboo! Great tips. Thank you so much!!❤
Very well explained thankyou for the video 🙂♥️
I just got a stick of this ''bamboo'' on sale, so i planted it in soil, hopefully it'll grow!
Good luck to you!
Thank you, doing this today!

Thank you so much your video was very helpful and I'm going to take my Lucky bamboo out of water and put it in potting soil . 🙂 I hope you have a great day.

Its so funny how life works i literally planted some bamboo i had in water yesterday into soil. Please show an update video in a few to see how yours are adjusting. I wish you an abundantly blessed day.
Thanks so much for watching Angel! I will certainly do an update video in the Fall. Blessings!
Thank you for this helpful information! My bamboo is showing signs of depression after being in its original container for more than a year now. I shall save it!
Thank you very helpful I just bought a plant on sat was'nt sure how to repot it now I know.
Glad it was helpful!
Wow, I never knew.. Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm actually going to do it right away💞
You’re welcome 😊
@@carmenwhitehead Hi, I had shifted the bamboo to a pot but almost all the stems are turning yellow. Can you please tell me what should I do to save them?

Update?
I have a bamboo plant but always been in soil. What i didn't know was the real name.👏🥰
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much. I only have one bamboo plant left, I going to see what it does in soil.
Good luck!
Great video! I have a lucky bamboo, it’s currently in a plastic container in soil topped with pebbles, and the container is inside of a pot with pebbles and water that I keep at an inch high. I really want to pot it in soil only, because I worry about the soil being in water.. I’m a new plant mama and want her to thrive .. 😂
Yeah, the soil in water can be a recipe for root rot. They thrive in one or the other. Either have them in water and pebbles only or soil only. Hope this helps.
Thanks Carmen for this soil tip. I buy lots of these from Lee Lee’s market over here on west side they are only .50-4.00 for big ones. The leaves were turning yellow and I lost a few even though giving them vitamins. Tomorrow I’m going to do what you did and transplant a few. I saw you just got a Mother of Thousands plant do you have the Mother of Millions plants? I have lots that are 4”-9” long they multiply every where they land lol. Let me know. Thanks.
