I love this video bc it’s so straightforward. No bullshit sponsorship, dramatic cutaways, or overly happy theme music. He’s not trying to sell us anything. He’s just sharing his genuine passion for plant care. I learned all I needed in this one video than I did on three other “aesthetically” pleasing produced videos I clicked on before this.
Yes! Today's videos are all about making money and less about quality or accurate content. I have seen so much bad info in "professional" videos on YT it's really disturbing.
I like this guy because he gives you straight, simple instructions. I haven't ever had a bamboo plant before and I am so excited to be able to not only transplant but to also make more plants to have and give away! Thank you!!!!
I only say this bc I want you to succeed with your plants, lucky bamboo is a lily not a bamboo. It flowers if you let it grow big enough. I’ve been trying for 2 years! I grow mine in aquarium water as fish poop is great fertilizer. I had problems with mine until I eventually put them in a fish tank.
OMGeeee... I followed your instruCtions and in exactly one month I had new growth and I'm about to plant what I cut off! You're an eXpeRt! Thank you ... now I grow my own and propagate and make more ! Thank you🥰🥰
Thanks. I have what I'm sure is Lucky bamboo and it's growing out of control. This video really has helped to know what to do with the extra growths that is causing my bamboo to teeter. 👍🏼
I had a dog knock over and chew on some of my bamboo stalks.I'd had these plants for about a year and didn't want to have to throw them all away so I took the ones with minimal to no damage and stuck them in some chlorine free water and I wasn't expecting much but to my surprise I noticed new roots on them one day and so I came to learn more about them. In thrilled that it looks like they're gonna be okay.
Most excellent video... I've had a little 2 shoot set for about a year: I was thinking of transplanting them into a bigger pot: but now I am SO propagating them... I learned alot from this. thank you!
Thanks so much for the video, I just rescued a lucky bamboo plant from Goodwill and it has a nice strong stalk ready to propagate, now I know how to do it without damaging the plant :) much appreciated
Thanks for the great video. I appreciate you explained how to care for both the cuttings and the original stems as most videos focus just on the cutting only. I also love that you raise fresh water fish. I use spider plants suspended in my plecko tank water to help control nitrates. They grow great! I also use tank water for my vegetable garden and all my houseplants and have done this for years. I will try a lucky bamboo propagation on a plant I found left behind by a student, and consider using lucky bamboo with my fish tanks. Thanks for the great video!
As long as they are still green and healthy don't worry it can take longer depending on temperature, light and condition or original piece. Thanks for watching
Great info only wished I had found this video sooner. I had tossed out two lucky bamboo that started to yellow on the stocks. The leaves were in shape but I thought it’s dying since the entire stock turned yellow. I wish I known to trim off the leaves to propagate instead of tossing the whole thing.
That s true the leaves can have roots and grow I tried it on a lucky bamboo that was dying so I had no infos about its possibility of growing but it really happens, and seriously that s the only guy talking about growing the leaves, thank you man
Hi. Lucky B.Guy, Today I learned how I can grow Lucky Bamboo, your program is very clear as step by step explained. I am watching from my home Canada. Thanks.Regards. Zeenat/Zz.
Thank you for sharing, I only have 1 stem of a lucky bamboo, lol, but your video will help me out growing it. If you have any suggestions for me I will greatly appreciate it.
You most definitely and certainly are the most knowledgeable person on bamboo and I appreciate this video so much thank you lucky bamboo man ❤😂P.S I want more videos from you please
Thanks for the video. Really sorry that you never got around to that follow up video. My wife and I just took our 4ft tall lucky bamboo stalk down to 4 new little guys (including our original). Great video!
@@morganlilly5719 @Morgan Lilly if I can recall (it's been a few years), but out of our four little "guys" three of them took and one just sat there. Maybe we cut it slightly wrong but the three good ones grew almost as tall as the original. Took a long time but it did work!
Just watched another video on how to plant and care, it was easy as ABC, now this pleasant propagation tutorial. What great people this is the best video out there for this. THANK YOU
I have three bamboo plants at home in my bathroom window. They have been doing great but they are so tall and looking very top heavy I guess you would call it. Asked around at nurseries but no one knew what to do with them. Listening to your video I feel I know what to do to get them back in to shape. They were getting to be almost two and a half feet tall and was afraid to cut them so now I feel I know what to do. Thank you so much.🙋🏼
My mom has one that is over six feet tall!! I told her I’d cut it up and try to propagate it but she’s afraid it’ll die. It’s literally touching the ceiling now! I don’t know what she’ll do in a year or two when it’s too tall for the house!
Thank s for the video. I have one very healthy leaf sprout that is now about 3-4 feet tall. It's a bit flimsy and I'm wondering if you have a video on pruning the leaves to either make the bamboo fuller, or just shorter without killing the plant and stopping all growth? Only one of my leaf stems on one bamboo shoot survived, and I've had this plant for six years, so I really want to avoid killing it. Thanks.
Outstanding video; very informative and nice shots! Thank you. I wonder if anyone has previously requested consideration re getting a mic? The higher frequencies are making some words a little difficult to understand, which a clip on personal mic would definitely resolve, and I’ll be able to watch more of your videos! Cheers!
Jenine Engers So Sorry that I haven't made the follow up video...I'll get it scheduled and I think you will be happy to see how everything has developed.... Thanks So Much for the comment...
+LuckyBambooGuy Can you make a 15 second update video? Even if it's poor video quality and no talking, just to show if the stalks with no leaves, got new growth and how many of the cuttings survived. If so, add a link to it in the description of this video. You can ALWAYS make a longer, better quality "update" video, but just having SOMETHING for us to look at, would be very valuable to me. A few seconds update video that you feel is a complete failure of a video, is better than no video at all. We don't have to see you or hear you or have a stable tripod mounted camera as you did in this video, just title the video "Lucky Bamboo Update (poor video quality)".
Perlite + distilled water + hydrogen peroxide + rooting hormone + unscented white candle wax to seal the cut on the "mother" plant. You can clean perlite with hydrogen peroxide. The downside to perlite, is that the initial rinsing off of all the hidden organic junk and sand and sifting to get larger perlite and having to be careful to not crush/crack/break the delicate perlite is a pain, but if you enjoy the hobby, when you are don't and the lucky bamboo in the perlite will look amazing and you won't have to worry about oxygen deficiency to the roots. Perlite provides the perfect environment for INDOOR plants (using this method outdoors in direct sun will dry out within an hour or so and the plant will die).
Agree with the others, where is the follow up video? What do we do with the recently propagated cuttings? Recommendations on how and what type of potting? (soil or water?) Great video and informative, thanks! would really like that follow up though... : )
min min just take care of the plant as usual. New shoots will grow beneath the knot where the old shoots were cut off. It’s said in the video too I suppose.
I have some lucky bamboo that’s now 16yrs old. I just grow them in a large vase and top up the water when it gets low. They got as high as the ceiling and bent over so I had to cut them off and put the tops in water and they rooted and are currently about 6ft high.
ok. I tried this today. I used gravel and I used aquarium water as well. my shoots I propagated are pretty long. so I used more gravel to hold in place to grow new roots. is that ok or do I need to take out alot Of the gravel? and how full of water do I fill?
I too have a love for house plants and fish. I have found that my fish water grows so very beautiful plants. I use no ferts either. All my tanks have live Aquatic plants as well. This lucky bamboo and pothos works great in my tanks. My fish love the root systems. My fish feed the plants and in return the plants clean the water to certain extent
You have to make sure that the leafs and very top of the plant are above water. This isn't a fully Aquatic plant like the pet store plays it off. I just put them in the corners of my tanks. I got mine at supermarket and not pet store. Pet stores way over charge for this plant.
