I love Vicky's enthusiasm! And she's almost got the hang of not pronouncing "Ireland" as "Island"! Not quite but almost. I'm sure she'll have it by the end!
Hey guys good to see yous out about I've been a long time subscriber and I'd just like to say a massive thanks to you guys I dont think you guys realise the help you guys give out with your videos. With that being said I'm a sufferer of mental health and I find your videos a very good way of calming down and rather quite therapeutic so a massive 👍👍👍👍 guys and keep the great amazing content coming.
Hi Geoff and Vicki. I am watching your adventures from Australia. I really enjoyed ATS in GB and now am settling down for a couple of weeks as you explore the Irish railways. Fabulous videos and you both are the most natural of presenters. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
It’s a great pity that Irish rail closed the line between Rosslare Strand and Waterford. There was some amazing scenery on the line and the bridge over the river Barrow was truly spectacular.
I have very fond memories of that line, especially the viaduct you mention, which amazed me as a child (the memory still does). They should also have kept open the line west from Waterford to Mallow via Dungarvan -- on which my grandfather worked -- used by the "boat trains" from Rosslare to Killarney.
The train in Wexford reminds me of the slow moving boat train to Weymouth Harbour, as passengers met up with Channel Islands ferries, a journey did many times. It was only in the final days of the service that I finally saw the boat train at street level.
It's so exciting to see you post about 50 mins away from where I live/go to college... Hopefully Ill bump into you guys one day (maybe when you're taking the commuter out to Dundalk?) Exciting! Keep up the good work... I love these videos!
Hi Vicki & Geoff! Wonderful... ✔ We watched Ballykissangel in Canada as well 😊 was nice to see where it was taped! And some drone footage...that was great! ...take really good care...lots of love 💖 ...music was great too!
@@susansmith7831 It's kinda more like Fal-cha. Like 'pal-cha'. Same word, just with the accent (srac) being the opposite way around, as per Scots Gaelic vs Irish spelling conventions 🙂
Killarney is the tourism to capital of Ireland . It was made by the arivel of the train and day trippers.I was told that the house and trap's lined up for mils at the cafe on dinis island that separate the Killarney lake . Love the vids 😀
Brilliant! That was a great start (apart from the getting to Ireland video) to the series! I certainly liked that Irish guy that was getting off at Kilcoole. He seemed like a laugh!
Wonderful Ireland. My childhood home was named ‘Avoca’ having been built in 1932 by an expatriate Irish family in Coventry. I’ve visited there several times and love the place.
Wow, that was fantastic. So glad that you are getting such good weather to show off how beautiful Ireland is. Also that you seem to be enjoying the people and places so much. Best wishes from Arklow, Co Wicklow 😎
Thank you Ireland ! And thank you Geoff and Vicky and team for yet another great journey ! Wonderfull drone shots and music, these and the 'Vicky Explores' scenes provide a nice serene retreat from a bustling and bubbling Geoff ;-) Never been to Ireland (*) and I knew they had trains but that was just about it. Until now that is. I wonder if Geoff and especially Vicky will develop an Irish tone of voice during these weeks. Favourite shot of this episode: Vicky looking out of the door at 13:25 (*) Guess the mess of Irishbatt Camp Shamrock in Tebnine doesn't count ...
Great video Geoff (And Vicky) keep it up. When you go to Castleknock on the Dublin-Maynooth stopper just up the path / canal from the station there is a pleasant cafe and a nice loch
198 stations and I'm the 19,800th viewer. The beginning is so reminiscent of quirky 90s and early 2000s bbc/pbs educational show music, so cool! Brings back memories.
One thing I have to say, it is hard to read some of the To The Train reward backers, due to background colour. Also I am looking forward to tomorrows episode.
Thank you so much for your great serie in Ireland. Since this week I'm retired and I had planned to leave for some weeks to Ireland but I was kept at home. So I will watch every day your next video, so there is some Ireland on my way anyway.
I enjoy your videos so much! You both seem to be a very happy couple and have a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to this series, being able to catch it 'live' as it were, as opposed to a year late. :)
Great, glad all is going good. The High School I went to in Scarborough was in Wexford and was Wexford CI, named for Wexford here so was great to see this video. Thanks
So excited to have this series back! I discovered the original one after it’d had already finished, so being able to follow it in real time now is incredibly fun!
Brilliant video! The Rosslare to Dublin line is my favourite railway in Ireland. It was great to see the church at Avoca, I'd love to go off the train at Rathdrum oneday.
Great video of your first full day in Ireland - especially the drone footage of Wexford Quay. BTW the rail speed limit along the quay is 5 mph. One slight disappointment was that you did the most scenic section of the line - and probably the most scenic section of railway in Ireland - along the cliffs between Greystones and Bray, in the dark. Keep up the good work and have fun. Look out for all the castles...all of them!!!
Great to have a record of the Rosslare line, it's slated for closure south of Gorey. There is still a line from Rosslare Strand to Waterford through south County Wexford which closed in 2010, a sad loss. Also, that line and part of the main line you travelled on are actually not owned by Iarnrod Eireann but by a consortium including Stena Line, called the Fishguard & Rosslare Railways and Harbours Company. Dates back to the construction of the railways, conjoined to the steamships from Rosslare to Wales with onward train connections by GWR. Enjoy the rest of your time over here!
Any hope it stays open? It'd be a pity when it coses down, Rosslare is the second ferry port of Ireland, and with Brexit, it will only win in importance, imo.
Great to see you over here. I moved to Ireland from Sussex, 11 years ago after meeting my 'Irish girl.' Never looked back. Our nearest station is little old Birdhill, just down the road from where we live in Ballina/Killaloe. Another great video. Have a wonderful time.
Go anywhere outside of Dublin (and Carlow), admittedly you'll be stranded with our sparse public transport coverage, without a bike - without a cycle greenway, and without a car.
Your show is amazing iam in Australia and have become addicted you seem like a great couple who come together so well and it great series to watch love to see you both in Australia
There is a railway museum in the old Downpatrick train station (in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, home of St Patrick) that use to serve Belfast to Downpatrick and Downpatrick to Newcastle via Ardglass, Killough and Dundrum); the line closed in the 1950s though. To visit the museum, the only way down is by car or bus though.
I have family in Avoca not too far from the train track hahaha I used to love running free as a child there on my holidays from England. Long before it was even put on the map through Ballykissangel. Enjoy guys!
Narrow platform at Rosslare. Water tower and crane at Gorey. I wonder how much steam era infrastructure is still about in Ireland. Still a full tower at Avoca as well! Beautiful line by the coast.
Great to see the first official video of a full day in Ireland. It's funny as I didn't know when you were starting, but I decided to pay a fleeting visit to Ireland myself a couple of days before you set out, and rode the Dublin -Rosslare line as far as Wexford and back, the day before you arrived!! In fact, the tweet you sent out saying you were in Ireland arrived in my phone as I was at the ferry port in Dublin, waiting for the ship back to GB !! Enjoy Ireland!!
Right at 1:57, looking down the carriage, at first glance it looks as if every aisle seat is taken by a gnome, all strangely the same height, wearing the same hat. Racing the swan - lovely!
They're by far the best DARTS though. They have a passenger information system that always works They have comfortable, non squashed seats Good amount of windows to open in the summer Excellent heat in the winter
It's really wind- oh, wrong video.
Well, it's Ireland, it would be weird if it weren't...
Hahaha
That intro music is so lovely and serene, but then the theme tune came in and my heart leapt! Have a lovely time in Ireland! #quaintiscool
Loving this guys! Hoping I bump into you both at some stage in crossing commutes hahaha
*#quaintischomhghaill
I Love the Intro music so much too , Content even more so
Agree about when the theme tune comes on... I actually tear up!
it's 5 mph on Wexford Quay, the 6MP is the milepost marker for Rosslare Strand station
Ahh _the little things..._
Don't they use kph in 🇮🇪
On roads we use kph, but the railway network still operates on imperial (no plans to change either as far as I know)
@@marcuskennedy709 So are those yellow octagon shaped speed limit signs you speed beside the track in miles or kilometres per hour?

Me too!! Definitely my comfort show and helped me through a lot
As an Englishman living in the Scottish Highlands, I knew what "Failte" meant. Please excuse my sudden feeling of superiority 🤣🤣🤣
We spell it fáilte; I believe that the Scots spell it fàilte. Close enough.
Here in Dallas, Texas, our local rail transit is also called “DART” so it’s neat to see the sister system on the other side of the Atlantic. 😊
Glad I'm not the only one watching from Dallas. I've ridden DART many times, but never ended up in Ireland.
surely you should remember "failte" from scotland during all the stations?? :P
Fàilte gu Alba! Or in this case, fáilte go hÉirinn.
I had exactly the same thought. Welcome!
@@thebeast2746 bit harsh...
Mp6 isn't the speed limit. It's a milepost, speed signs are yellow
Sam Edward Barsoum ahhhh okay. Thanks for that - we’re learning SO much.
I was about to say that! Speed limits are yellow octagons.
Doesn't the Irish Republic use metric measurements now? Surely any speed limits would be in kph not mph.
@@trevordance5181 Yes but for some reason we don't on our railways.
@@sambarsoum3125 Wow really? That's bizzare!
I've actually been on a train that stopped at Avoca last year. It was an RPSI steam excursion, and the train had to stop in Avoca to take on water.

Hello as a retired train driver on the London Underground,I would like to see you guys checking out the history of unused stations or track
Thumbs up to person who did the outstanding 😮 drone footage!🏞️
Love Vicky explores . You two have inspired me to do my own video to Wrexham North Wales the end of April.
Shame vickey did not explore my train station Southampton central train station

The opening is so, so good! Then you gave us a Vick-def of moquette!! More Vick-def's please.
Who else has noticed that the door opening chime is the same as the UK’s doors closing chime
The walking-pace Wexford stretch is amazing. No problem writing down train numbers there. Great video guys.
