The fist step for the modern Gaels is the revival of our language. There's a reason the English were so adamant about eradicating the Irish and Welsh languages going so far as to beat children in school for speaking there own language. Language is part of the very foundation of a culture. The fact is they beat the pride out of us, the pride for our own language and now Ireland and the descendants of the Gael have a complicated relationship with our language and there is even a debate in Ireland as to weather the language is even worth reviving but thankfully that seems to have shifted in favor of Gaeilge in recent years more young people have taken interest and the internet is breathing new life into the language but its up to us to save it. There is no Gaelic culture without Gaeilge.

@@peterhoulihan9766 it’s a double-edged sword; I’m seeing first hand how some local, poorly educated and unskilled Welsh people who merely speak Welsh (and not the highest quality of the language, mind) are being given jobs in Wales above more qualified white British people (Welsh includes) who do not speak it fluently.
We should always reward merit over statistical suitability which might make companies look good but ultimately make them perform to a lesser standard.
This is, of course, no excuse when it comes to other incoming groups of suspect motives.

I have heard a theory that the English intentionally allowed the Irish to continue being Catholics, saying “if they become Protestants soon they’ll be wanting a bible in their own language!”.
After the experience of this with us Welsh, it seems this was sufficient to let us retain our language and cultural identity enough that we were still enacting riots and causing them trouble.
These are some of the possible reasons why Irish has declined to such a degree and Welsh has had some success. Language prestige is very importance and in Ireland this was Latin for the church, while in Wales, at least, the chapel culture had the people singing, weekly, in our own language…
Nonetheless, while Ireland should be Irish, a United Britain and strong British Isles with a firm, fast relationship would be best for the future.
      Celts, aren’t we all?

Saying "Celt" should be prohibited, that was a broad term given to Europeans by the Greeks, so technically, everybody's Celtic.
Even the tribes we know of were made up of smaller clans, individual and distinct from each other, so that term is reductive and not really representative of anyone's heritage. I know learning the names of thousands of tribes is not possible or convenient for the average person that's why we say Celtic and we conjure that image of a mustached dude with no armor and a large shield being trampled by legionaries. But saying Celtic, Barbarian, or foreigner equates to the same as they would've been the term used by the historians we draw our written sources from, mostly Greek and Roman.

What a fair, respectful, and sweal guy your version must've been.

It has always fascinated me that such memories can still be found, even in records written by monks that transcribed things they didn't really understand in a then-new Christian perspective that didn't quite fit.
A culture that buried older monuments like Newgrange with reverence, avoided being civilised by the Romans, incorporated and fostered Christianity, precluded Norse domination, and survived imperial rule into the mid-19th century when Irish cultural/linguistic domination began to fade with the emigrant boats.

Overall a very fairly researched and well presented video for the most part, especially for the first 2/3rds of the video. I do have some critiques, though.
Firstly, for many of the important names mentioned in the video, especially for those from earlier periods in the history, it would have been good to give their names in written form. For example, when you mention Érimón towards the end of the section dedicated to the Bell Beaker people, it would have been nice to see how his name was written. I was Googling 'Airevon' and things like that and it took me more than a good few minutes to find the Wikipedia article as for who exactly you were referring to, since there are a few different results which appear when one Googles 'Who was the first (high) king of Ireland?'. You did remember to do this later in relation to Nuada Airgetlám, though - so just being more mindful for consistency with these kinds of things would make your documentaries stronger.
Secondly, you spend what feels like a lot of time for most of the video detailing the prehistoric, ancient, and mythological origins of the Irish people, and this is all quite well done, but then towards the end from when you begin discussing the Normans and the English/British thereafter, it seems like you condense a lot more, sometimes leaving out relevant and vital information and even presenting with less objectivity in comparison to how you did earlier on. So there's something of both a noticeable contrast and a clear tone shift from that point onward.
For example, when you mention the plantations and the policies that began under Henry VIII all the way through to your mentions of Cromwell, you make no mention of how religion was the driving motivator behind these policies, and you then essentially present it as malicious ethnic cleansing for the sake of simply ridding Ireland of the Irish. You also take this rather questionable stance of making the Irish Catholic Confederation into sounding like the primary recipients of Cromwellian violence, which you likewise present as coming only from the fact that said group swept across Ireland save for Dublin - you make no mention of the fact that Cromwell's army initially invaded Ireland because of how the English Royalists fled there because of the fact that they had considerable support there. By not mentioning this, you effectively make it sound like Cromwell randomly assembled an army together and brought it to Ireland with the explicit goal of eradicating the Irish, which of course is completely removed from the far more complicated truth.
That, and you only give the estimated maximum figure for approximately how many died from the Cromwellian war in Ireland. The lower end of the estimate is considerably lower (several times lower, in fact), and you should be more honest in allowing your audience to know what historians do not know for certain, rather than only sharing what is the worst possible number was, which is still uncertain and debated amongst historians today.
In addition to this, you mention how the lands of the Gaels were seized as if it was because they were Gaels, again completely missing the fact that it was specifically because they were Catholic! When Henry VIII established the Church of England and severed diplomatic/political/etc. ties with Rome, the Papacy not only of course declared him and the followers of Anglicanism to be heretics, but it also tasked and implored Catholics to overthrow and reinstate a Catholic monarchy/nation. Not all Gaelic-speaking, natively Irish lesser lords sided with the Roman Catholic Church either - some did in fact become Anglicans, and they were not deprived because of course being Anglicans proved to the reigning authorities that they would be loyal and not concerned with overthrowing them.
Throughout this part of the video, you also speak with considerably more condemnation, which stands out a lot compared to the first part, which was presented with far less emotional language and with far better objectivity. It almost comes off as if you believe that what the ancients did with all of their violence was fine, but more modern acts are just far more reprehensible simply because they were more recent. Earlier instances are essentially presented with the language of "Oh well, you know, those kinds of thing happened!" while later ones are described with far more censure.
Furthermore, on the briefly discussed famine, you even give credence to the idea that the famine might have been purposefully orchestrated. This, I think, is really irresponsible of you, especially since not a single historian in Ireland today worth their salt believes this, and they virtually unanimously agree that it was not at all an engineered process. That, and while you mention that some (which should have been said as 'some few' for more accuracy) intolerant and bigoted British politicians dismissively waived their hands at the suffering Irish, I couldn't help but notice that you simultaneously also made no mention whatsoever for all the relief efforts that were in service during the period, which included the establishment of the British Relief Association, which became the biggest charity in the world at the time of its conception and which was specifically patronized by Britain's wealthy and socio-political elites for giving aid to Ireland during those years. This is again something which contemporary Irish historians today are far more objective and responsible about when it comes to discussing the famine, and which you also should be if you're going to be making a documentary like this.
I also couldn't help but notice you didn't even remotely mention the 1740-1741, which historians widely acknowledge to have had an even more disastrous loss of life than the famine of a century later. A bit odd, I think, not to mention something that was even more devastating for a population group, only to then mention a later event of the same kind and give a nod to the widely academically rejected notion that it might have been intentional.
You basically catastrophize and exaggerate every instance of Irish suffering post-Norman invasion, and from that point onward you drop the presentational objectivity which made the first part of this documentary so strong. I was very happy to give this video a like up until that point in the video - the point at which you abandoned objectivity and exchanged it for what was at times heavily biased and at others an even dishonest presentation of the history. I understand that this was a video on the history of who the Irish people were, and I'm not saying you need to mention everything I just did, but it seems to be something of a disservice to the Irish people not to present their history with less bias and more accuracy.

The Conquest of Ireland arguably wasn’t fully completed until the Act of Union in 1800 when the Kingdom of Ireland (after centuries of constitutional and regime changes) was forcibly merged into the British state (though our civil service and courts remained separate, and we retained our legislative representatives). Those representatives forced to sit in London instead of Dublin, but went back to Ireland in 1919 and declared independence in a reconstituted Irish Parliament (copying the Hungarian walkout of the Austrian parliament in the 1860s).
European history is very complicated as you can imagine .

Go raibh maith agat for the work you've put into this documentary. As someone deeply passionate about reviving these ancestral history, myths, and spiritualities it means a lot to see others engaged with this vital work.
I have one part it feels important to add. The modern Pale encroaching day by day on Éireann, threatening to choke out the life of land and culture is most clearly visible in the influence of multinational corporations. The Celtic Tiger period saw irish politicians essentially sell their country to foreign investors, and assimilate the irish way of life to the demands of neoliberal empire. American consumerist culture is also a prominent homogenizing force, including the watering down of sacred ancient traditions for easy tourist consumption. The continued destruction of whatever heritage is deemed insufficiently marketable. The continued destruction of the environment by extractive industrial policies. Less than 1.5% of Ireland's ancient sacred forest ecosystems remain.
The trees were seen as our ancestors and teachers. The Oak, Hazel, Willow, Alder, Elder, Birch, Ash, many others protected and guided us.
Our ancestors saw our lives as fundamentally intertwined, a part of the sacred interdependent balance of all nature. These sacred traditions and paradigms provide vital answers to the existential crises we presently face.
Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireas na daoine.
The seeds we plant now in both land and people will become the ancient forests, the protection and freedom of our descendants. And this goes beyond Éireann.
Like you said with the Gaels being connected to their origins even as the rest of europe had been assimilated into Roman and Greek imperial culture, indigenous peoples across the world are connected to their roots.
We have much to learn from these peoples who have maintained their ancestral land-based cultures and systems of kinship as ours have been burned and broken, rotten away, assimilated into empire. They can teach us what it means to be in relationship with the natural forces our ancestors once communed with, so that we can not just understand our cultures in history but reconnect with the root as living ways of being. Revive more than words. Bring new life to who we are.

You don't have to stretch your imagination too far to suggest that the current influx of people to Ireland and Britain is intentional and the policy of a ruling class. These new planters come from lands with no connection to our lands, they come here under false declaration and the purpose is to cause social chaos and further destroy the culture and fabric of society. Irish culture is dying, especially in Dublin. I see it getting worse, day by day, and it saddens me deeply, however, I do not blame these people, they do not know that they are being used and they are getting a better/easier/richer life, it is just a shame that we are paying with our taxes, for the destruction of our own nations, the death of our cultures, all in the name of a new world order. We have gotten to a point in history that people in the future will never know, they will never be educated about the time when the world was largely free of tyranny, freedom will be myth that will be dismissed as a ghost story. Enjoy freedom while you can, we are losing.

No one who worked there could understand him,but for some reason, I could.
I helped him get what he was asking for,and in return, he told me many things, which of course, I don't remember.
He said that he spoke a very ancient, high, codified form of what we would call Welsh. It was unlike anything we know today, having a similar relationship to the modern languages that Sanskrit has to modern languages in Northern India.
I struggled with the words to answer him, even though I could understand.

24:50 you are incorrect. Bards are ranked seperately from filidh. I am unsure of why your videos always tries to downplay the importance of the fili. Anyways the highest rank of bard if memory serves is like the Filidh. That of an Ollamh because every high rank is called Ollamh including kings. However, an Ollamh on its own without something like Ollamh Bard or Ollamh King refers only to a fili and never a bard. Thereof though a filidh ollave can be called a Sui, Fili, Eices or Ollamh, an ollave bard cannot be called a filidh as they are both distinct legally with bards having half the honour price of filidh.

    • @damionkeeling3103

I think his classification of filí goes back to the pre-Christian Druidic ranks in Gaul where the Romans mention them divided into bards ovates and druids with druids being the most accomplished. There appears to have been a similar grouping in Ireland with the bard, file and druí. The file is probably the same as the fáith with the fáith being cognate to ovates/vates.
Druids may have been downgraded after Christianity in favour of filí which is why they appear superior in some medieval texts. On the other hand it is druids whom the likes of St Patrick and St Columba contend against.

*"However, at some point the British Males were reduce so, that (less than 2% of the Male DNA remains, the female continued as expected).
I discovered this about 5 years ago, I've heard only 3 Academics mention it, they refer to the earlier Brits, Welsh, and Irish, as the Beaker People, (an Archaeology term due to a type of Pottery that emerged at the time).
*Point of Reference:* I've been unable to locate the "Cause Factor, any records that cute what actions took place resulting in this "less than 2% original British Make DNA remaining". *"This number represents a removal of all Males, Adults, Young Adults, Adolescents, Children, and even Babies."*. I known of no mention of them having been "Removed, sold into slavery, Male only Illnesses, nor executions, the absence of Records to explain this is noticable in it's absence in a society meticulous on record keeping, the Brits are Obsessive Record Keepers.
The subject leaves me curious as to: "Which Monarch, or Invading Source, actually enacted an "Ethnic Cleansing upon the Males in Britain, who and when? (It likely was during the era or following when the Angles and Saxons were making their way to gaining control of the whole of England and it's People's) "my best guess".
Eliminating any potential of British Kings/Queen's. The void is so deep and wide, so specific to the Males, that it is obvious that the (perspective) 20th-21st Century Monarchs would want to avoid admitting and/or discussion of the event(s).
I suspect the documentation was removed in the early 1900's (WWI) when the the Royal Family was reestablishing themselves, separating their name from the original: "Saxe Coburg Gotha" the real surname of the Windsors.
      (Germanic)
      Sidebar:
Archaeologists (that's a whole other story, the muddled mess they make of History attempting to make it fit into their *"19th Century Theory based Paradigm and Linear Timeline",* however, it is undergoing a silent forced correction, adjusting due to all the Genetic/DNA studies, ie: the findings do not support their 2 main Theories: the previous mentioned and the 2nd being their "All Out of Africa" Theory. This one proven inaccurate by the renowned Geneticist "David Reich, PhD," Harvard, noted for his thorough works in "DNA Global Mapping of Ancient Migrations", Dr Reich repeated his data 3 times and then had it Peer Reviewed and Published it, 2019, as I recall. (It has remained noticably quiet, since Media is preoccupied with Drama Productions for Profits, little of value gets airtime, and little time when it does, but that's ok just now, no one enjoys a melt-down of a Mainstream Academic for they are overwhelmingly large on Ego Mind, short on flexibility, and we'll, I suspect they would somehow like to "save face", so to speak, because they are very preoccupied with "What their Academic Fraternal like Hierarchy deems acceptable." They is so veered off the path of Authentic Science based focus having given such high Value to their "Belief" in their "19th Century Darwinian Theory Model/based Paradigm and 'created' Linear Timeline" that they treated it as bedrock, fact foundation, and have resisted any findings that didn't support their Paradigm, going as far as "Complaining on Camera and Gaslighting Peers, forcing several to be dismissed and causing loss of jobs, destroying careers."
They even attempted to force Censorship against a Documentary that aired back in the 1990's, on NBC if I recall correctly, that was Hosted by the late Charlton Heston, a renowned Actor of Higher Mind and great achievements (he parted the Red Sea), lol, played Moses in the "Ten Commandments".
This Documentary reviews the works of several Academics, and focused on a book Michael Cremo, PhD, co-authored with "Richard Thompson, PhD, "Forbidden Archaeology" , this book included a wealth of recorded Archaeological finds, Journalist and Researcher, Graham Hancock and Robert Bouval were also cited for their works and theories.
      The Documentary:
      *"Mysterious Origins of Man"
There's a copy on UA-cam, and it is as accurate today as it was back then, a Worthy Watch, it also includes Dr Robert Schoch, Geophysicist, Professor, Boston College and a Yale Grad. Dr Schoch using his skills in Geology, dated the Sphinx to a conservative date of some 10,500 - 12,500 years ago, and (he was accurate) His work Peer Reviewed and Journal Published, the Mainstream Archaeologists and Egyptologists still ignore the findings. They are just wrong, and with this too is in the mix of growing facts that are growing to include such important areas of Science and History that they will not be able to ignore the subject any longer. Just make note of my statement and observe over the next 1 maybe 2 years.
The 3rd and last point I shall make on this subject has to do with those DNA studies I mentioned. These current/recent studies do not offer any supporting info for the "Mainstream Darwinian Theory Paradigm", rather they indicate that : *"Modern Humans are far more a result of Intervention rather than a Linear Evolution."*
Back to the Mainstream Academics veering off path:
Mainstream Academics are not following the Standards.
Science, over the years, established values of protocols, such as the "Standards of Science and Research", which in a quick summary states:
Minds are to be fully open, free of personal and/or professional predetermined Beliefs, Theories, and/or Opinions, applying all relative finds and data, allowing for the already proven Research Methodologies and Statistical Formulas to extract the greater facts. *"The Standards prohibit using a Theory as Fact."*
*Those whom adhere to "the Standards " are Authentic Academics.*
The influence of the Mainstream Academics has influenced us all, through textbooks and Education. It is best addressed, without Judging, rather with bright expectations of Exploration and Discoveries, understanding we can use this same Standards to evaluate information we receive.
The History Story is ready for an Audit and Updating for adding more accurate facts.
A recommended resource for the understandable translation of the subjects referenced here is *"Gregg Braden",* (a Scientist, Geologist, Author, renowned Speaker and associate of the GAIA Group). Gregg addresses these on several videos on his UA-cam Channel, under his name.
There exists a few concentrated areas of Subjects in History that have been both intentionally and some unintentionally, altered, edited, changed it deleted, each in the effort to sway the public towards continued support, and to keep the Public in a separate bubble of beliefs around history and reality. This bubble is fading and there's not much that will stop it, the method of action now will be distraction, confusion, and denial, to keep the Public divided and engaged, because when the Public gains Clarity and Awareness, we are a formidable size and in cooperation, "We then return to a Democracy"
Democracy requires facts to operate as intended. The Public will benefit from managing their Ego Mind and getting Wise on😮 how they manage incoming information.
Little can be done with those whom 9bserve one thing and swear it's another, aka the Trump influence. That too shall pass, but leave us all with a value of learned and experienced.
Hope this offers you some interesting relevant information.

@Beth Bartlett Thank you, I am of a similar opinion on some of what you say, and have no information on any purported cover up, a modern term, though certainly employed by victors all over this planet, on all continents, and still going strong.
As far as where these original settlers went, the so called "Megalith builders", the Irish and British I2a males of the Isles, of whom only 1% are in Ireland today, their population may have been reduced by disease carried by the newer folks, or a natural catastrophe(s). I haven't found anything in my research that they were slaughtered (or enslaved), but, on the other hand:
The tales of the Fir Bolg, the Men of the Bag, who may have been the people you talk of, & allegedly, my paternal ancestors, as it is currently determined, were according to the lore handed down, almost wiped out by the invading sea peoples, the Fomorians, who may or may not have been also indigenous to the Isles, or the perpetrators you seek.
The survivors then fled to northern Greece (their old homeland(?)). Apparently the Balkans(Bolgans'(sic)). For the place on Earth where the most I2a folks live today is in the Balkan-Ukraine corridor. Now the lore indicates they were enslaved by the Greeks and carried dirt in bags(hence Men of the Bags-but-Freddy Silva in his new book "Scotland's Secret Hidden Past" relates 'bolg' or bag to the Man Bags of the Culture Bearers of the Sumerians & other ancient peoples , et al) to make barren ground fertile, and eventually grew and prospered, and a few of their tribes(tree(3) I believe) returned to Ireland (Britain too?).
Perhaps that tale is the key to why there are only 1% of Irish males with the I2a gene left in Ireland. Perhaps that is a memory of what you propose? That their DNA(I2a) is found in the remains interred in the great passage chambers reflects their former dominant position. It appears they may have been separated from their Balkan cousins by the Younger Dryas & last glaciation of Europe while they bred with the formerly named Cro Magnons, the West European Neanderthals & the Hybrids of their interbreeding. This is off the top of my Seannachie head as I don't have time to fine tune this at the moment.
Belgae, Balkans, Bulgarians, Volcae, etc. being the survivors of this earlier European group. The natural migrations of peoples all over the planet, still going on, due to climate changes and natural disasters is much more prevalent & causative, than armies of newcomers destroying all of the males, but which did happen on a smaller scale, I believe.
But I must say, when watching the recent Canadian BBC video on Stonehenge & the narrator says the Builders("we") just up and disappeared, I jumped up and yelled at my screen:
"No, we didn't! We're still here.", lol.
      Good luck on your research.

They were some of the first European Farmers on the continent (they came from Anatolia). All they knew about their ancestors is they were called Pelasgians. The Greeks never mixed with anyone else. They are known as the ethnicity without brothers (ethnos anadelphos). They were the first and last to control the islands they are now in.

@@jboss1073 Yes i am very happy with our current borders this is where my people always lived. However there has to be some mixing in ancient times . The biggest examples are hair and eye colour. Especially in Peloponnese where I'm from we have many blond people and many people people with blue eyes something and this gene doesn't originate from Greece, from the first tribes at least. The best answer was given a former president of the Greek Republic who claimed that the Dorians were actually a proto Germanic group who brought these genes to the Greek population and i would argue there is some truth to that because these characteristics are found disproportionally in Peloponnese and not in Crete or Athens or Thessaloniki. I would like a video debunking the modern myth pushed by many politicians that the greek people never had any shared identity and that the idea of " greekness " doesn't exist.
