The writing and the shots capture the feeling of being depressed and anxious so well. Just the many metaphorical representations with the broken mirror, the spiral (staircase), cracks on ceiling, the siren-like bells ringing and shadows taking over the face are genius.
Unfortunately, many of us can relate to this. Trying to find a key to escape a room with no doors. The feeling that if we ignore it, it will go away. The feeling of distancing everyone while we crave affection the most. I think that's what this film tries to say that indifference solves nothing. We might think that we live in fleeting moments, not caring about what happens next, while in reality we are just trapped in a loop of despair.
Unless we realize it, we can't break the loop.

Thank you for uploading this... i think this is my second time watching it here and the first time i was a bit too trembly at the end to leave a comment. I think many of us can relate to the character, and some may call us weak or idealistic or whatever. But for me it represented a great deal of comfort. I bawled my eyes out, but at the same time i felt understood. A person countries and decades away felt the same dread. And that turned something that was supposed to be sad into something beautiful. I hope it helps some of you too.

I felt the same way at that age. I don't wish to come across as condescending, but it gets better. The world doesn't necessarily change for the better, but your internal state does as you settle and learn from mistakes and habits. What we see is a reflection of our inner state, and once you start to shift that from within, the world opens up. This is coming from someone who was on SSRI's from the age of 16 and had severe depression for a long time. I wish you all the best.

I find Stalker kind of similar, not a very solitary type of narration. can’t think of another film directly in this same vein but others that cause same feelings. Book wise, Nausea by Sartre is right there

I'm really interesting in how this lethargic character can be seen as the polar opposite of the students in May 1968? The opposite of revolt and revolution is this interior monologue of despair? Is it in someway a reaction?
