I remember seeing Pat Travers Band in 1979 at San Jose Spartan Stadium in front of 25,000 fans. They opened the show, then followed by Cheap Trick and headliners Blue Oyster Cult. Great show and tickets were only $7.00!!!!! 👍😆
why should he give up , he's carved out a nice little niche for himself and has an audience that appreciates his work ,its just a shame that there isn't a bigger audience but that has more to do with America's changing demographics than anything else
I was in a speed metal band back in 90-91 that opened up for Pat Travers. Met him before we played. Was a really nice guy and I was a little awestruck meeting him. Even though my band played a totally different kind of music, he came up after our set and told us he really liked what he heard. Saw him a few years later at the same club, and was surprised he remembered me and that show. Good guitar player and really cool guy.
He's NOT a Rock guitarist. He's a Blues guitarist. From the songs he plays to his lead phrasinig, he's blues through and through. There is a HUGE difference in the guitarist community!!
its not criminal its the sign of the times ...most bands like PT Band dont tour big places for a reason...they are easier to fill and those huge tours are costly .. so its also cheaper ...so it isnt criminal its just the way it is now ...all I can say is get out there and see bands when you can ...its drying up out there ..
I seen pat travers, edgar winter band and Rick derringer all together in the 90s and maybe 50 to 100 people there was sad that people missed out on some good ol rock! And the ticket cost was 5 bucks!
If Nikki C ever reads this - I remember you introduced me to this song back in 86/87 at your mom’s house (when she wasn’t home)…boom, boom out went my lights for sure 😜!
Saw him last night at the Medina entertainment center in Medina Mn. He opened for the Outlaws. He's still an incredible guitar player. Can't wait for his new album. Outlaws were Great too! Live music again!!
Saw PT and Rick Derringer at one concert in Roger's, Arkansas. They were absolutely kick ass and felt honored to see them play. They both were fantastic.
I let him use the maple schecter guitar with brass pickguard Jeff Watson at Sunrise music sold me so he could jam with my wife's band in a Red Lion Inn in Redding, CA. Monday night and the bar is empty. Pat offer to buy our band a round of drinks but is totally plastered. Only one guitar so I had to just watch. The manager is freaking out because Pat puts the twin reverb on volume 11 and plays three songs with band. Their band was headed to Alaska and moral was not as high as Pat was. Pat sounded awesome. Just like the record.
Tommy Aldridge the original drummer oh yeah, we got to live the dream. The best vinyl we all had. Rhythm and blues Boogie Woogie number boom boom, out go the lights ... I played this song on my drums and now I wanna learn all the grooves that Pat Travers played smokin guitar 🎸 and also play that blues bass groove gotta love it 🥰 boom boom I'm getting it in Vietnam out go the lights THC JamZ Crypto on UA-cam TV 📺
I have been a Pat Travers fan for something like 33 years! Dig that. Saw him at the Day on the Green (one of them) and a few other ventures. He is quite the significant player in my life.
Seen him many times, still listen to him, seen him at the Oregon jam in the '70s with heart, Blue oyster cult, him and lover boy, seen him Head line shows also, always puts on a great show
I use to see this man in reno a lot!! but!!! don't live their anymore! they had good music go thru that city! my first bands I seen was the eagles,Hollies, johnny winter, when AC/DC first played with the last great! Bon Scott. that was a great show. there where others too many to name... thanks for the Video...
I saw Pat on a very unfortunate occasion.......Randy Rhodes was killed in the infamous plane crash and Pat performed on one days notice to cover for Ozzy. March 20, 1982, Orlando, Florida , Rock Super Bowl. He made another special appearance with Ted Nugent in Orlando at the Jai jai fronton. It was a fun guitar battle and you could tell Pat was lit and having a great time with Ted. Special stuff. So glad I was there. Thanks Pat, you rock!
I've seen Pat everywhere from Little gig that he did out in California and 86 when I was in the Navy I've seen them at Big stadiums with Aerosmith and I seen him at a little venue downtown Orlando or he did like an acoustic set I've seen him at Fern Park station out there just shooting pool and drinking some drinks coolest dude I've ever met God is autograph hung out with them awesome dude love Pat Travers
Pat has always been a fan favorite in Florida and I think your referring to the Great Southern Music Hall in downtown. I think a lot of go for what you know was recorded there. Fern Park station? Now your bringing back fond memories. : ) Thanks for your service.
I remember going to pat travers in VANCOUVER back in the ,,,80s? He did this song and boom boom out went his SOUND. He got boo’d bad that night but they finally fixed it? He’d rather forget that night😅
What a coincidence? Pat Travers and I both play guitar, and both born April 12th? Aries Gutair player's Black bird McKnight, Eddie Hazel, Hillel Slovak,Muddy Waters Angus Young!! The list goes on?? Something Pure there!!! Aries Spirit!!!
Crminally under rated guitar player/writer/performer/singer
I remember seeing Pat Travers Band in 1979 at San Jose Spartan Stadium in front of 25,000 fans. They opened the show, then followed by Cheap Trick and headliners Blue Oyster Cult. Great show and tickets were only $7.00!!!!! 👍😆
Accounting for inflation $7 then is equivalent to $28.23 today, which is ridiculously cheap by today’s standards.
I attended that tour Cal Expo. Kick ass.
I was there at that concert! The crowd was wAaaaaaaay better than this one, Yes? Can’t even say Out Go The Lights ( boom boom)😂
Damn BOC was still in their prime then.
Great line up!
One of the most UNDER-RATED guitarists of the past 4 decades. Cheers to Pat Travers for never giving up! Rock on! \M/
Boom Boom Cheers!
Agree 100%
Yeaup... Few peers.... Get it Pat !
why should he give up , he's carved out a nice little niche for himself and has an audience that appreciates his work ,its just a shame that there isn't a bigger audience but that has more to do with America's changing demographics than anything else

Good story man!
i've met him in a club here in Belgium....Totally agree with you. The man have Wide open ears and is totally human in the best manner of speaking. \m/
good times and era!!
Cool story.
My band also opened fir him a few years back. We smoked a pile of weed together lol
I remember being 18 yrs old in 1978 and this jam was playing on FM radio stations everywhere....loved it then and still love it now

My first concert,Foghat& Pat Travers band 1979 or 80 Market Square Arena.$ 6.50 ticket price.Still on of my favorites!!
Yeah man that show would've been so cool. I wore out the Foghat Live 8track til it wouldn't play anymore.
Oh wow so funnny I remember them both in concert
Damn I’m 60 and I’m here to tell you . Your one lucky cat .!! GOD bless ya
listen closely and hear that incredible bass line through out the song
Because that's Dave Pastorius, one of the best. and a nephew of the legendary Jaco Pastorius, jazz bass extraordinaire.
Love me a nice walking bass line.
@@jeffwheeler303he even looks like his uncle.
Pat Travers is one of the most underrated rock guitarists ever. Dude can play
He's NOT a Rock guitarist. He's a Blues guitarist. From the songs he plays to his lead phrasinig, he's blues through and through. There is a HUGE difference in the guitarist community!!
Every concert I went to in the late 1970's Pat was the opening act. He always closed with this song, it always rocked and still does!! BOOM! BOOM!
Me too lol.. freedom hall!
Pat has so much fun, he's proof positive that if you never stop having fun, you kind of never grow old.
Under rated. No way this dude a legend he kicks ass every time he comes in San Antonio
Criminal that a band this great is playing before such a small crowd
People don't want good music, they want Gwen Stefani clapping 🙄
its not criminal its the sign of the times ...most bands like PT Band dont tour big places for a reason...they are easier to fill and those huge tours are costly .. so its also cheaper ...so it isnt criminal its just the way it is now ...all I can say is get out there and see bands when you can ...its drying up out there ..

I'm sure the people there think the contrary.
I like the smaller venues myself! Seen some really great bands here at the Tennessee Theatre!
Pat's bands are alway a fun-time band! 😎👍 Live! Go for What You Know and P.T.power Trio 2 are my Favorites
Pat is an awesome guitarist but doesn't receive enough recognition for his talent!
I'm 69 and love this
In college in 1979, listening to "Live, Go for What You know," and getting lit. Those were the days!!!
Saw him in Springfield, Illinois at the Armory. Go for what you know. He opened for Blue Oyster Cult. Best concert I ever saw.
Pat Travers and Buck Dharma are two of my favorites! That was a great show!!
Ahh! Fantastic memories of the 70's. Loved Pat all the way back to when he started out in the UK back in 75/76.
That drummer is killing it.
If Nikki C ever reads this - I remember you introduced me to this song back in 86/87 at your mom’s house (when she wasn’t home)…boom, boom out went my lights for sure 😜!
Inspired ❤ I have included this number on my hospice playlist..
Close My Eyes...It's 1980 Again...Great Job, Pat & Band!
Pat Travers is a Rock Icon! Great performance! Rock On!💜
Saw him last night at the Medina entertainment center in Medina Mn. He opened for the Outlaws. He's still an incredible guitar player. Can't wait for his new album. Outlaws were Great too!
Live music again!!
That had to have been a great show. Love the outlaws
Ric Toole who played with the outlaws for a few years now lives in my area and comes to the jams. Phenomenal guitar playing!
Saw PT and Rick Derringer at one concert in Roger's, Arkansas. They were absolutely kick ass and felt honored to see them play. They both were fantastic.
Rick Derringer, Foreigner and Styx, Philadelphia in the 70s. it worked.
I saw pat travers at the cotton bowl, Dallas, texas, Aug 1979....good times, excellent weed 😊🇱🇷
I let him use the maple schecter guitar with brass pickguard Jeff Watson at Sunrise music sold me so he could jam with my wife's band in a Red Lion Inn in Redding, CA. Spent many weekends at the Texas jam, many great bands, drunk and stoned, about to melt it was hotter than a three peckered billy goat
Travers is a rock guitar legend. Definitely prefer his Les Paul sound over his Strat sound.
Saw Pat in Plymouth U.K in the 70's wish he would tour here again, love your music Pat
28 June 1976 at Quaintways Chester. Mars on bass. Man what a gig.
Yep, enjoyed this in the late 70's and 80's......loving it from The Philippines in 2019 :) Thank you !
He keeps coming up with new ways to play it . Nice sound on this . Thanks .
AWESOME BAND WITH SOUNDS!!! Never gets old hearing them!
Wow, I'm impressed...he still got it!
Truly one of the greatest guitar wizards of all time. and I ain't just saying that. check me against your best critic.
I believe he is one of the best guitarist of all time. Heat in the Street, is a great example of the man ahead of his time!!!
It's amazing what you can do with a guitar, bass and drums.
... and talent :)
Some get it naturally, others work very hard to jam like Pat Travers!
And Jack Daniels
This song came out when I was in High School. The jocks loved it.
The heads liked it also!!
Saw him in 76 I believe . Anaheim CA. Pat Travers, JGeils, Rick Derringer , Foghat and Peter Frampton
damn that would have been one "helluva" concert!! Glad you can remember it!!
Holy S#*t !!
Pat Traverse is a fantastic performer and guitar player and he deserves a much larger crowd .
He also deserves to have his name spelled correctly.
Underrated guitar player!
Every time I watch this video there is a live concert party going on in my head 🎤🎶
Tommy Aldridge the original drummer oh yeah, we got to live the dream. The best vinyl we all had. Rhythm and blues

He did a fantastic show at the old Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh 💙🎼🎶🎵🎸

First heard this on the school bus, circa 1978.
I saw Pat Travers as the opening act in the very early 80's...strangely enough he didn't play this song!
Jacksonville coliseum FL Travers/ Foghat late 70s tickets 8 bucks. Travers was ahead of his time.👊
Def Leppard opened for Pat, Crash and Burn Tour. Still going strong, You get a good show every time.
Nice guitar.
Looks like both Pat’s guitar and David’s bass are PRS
I would love for Pat Travers and Billy Gibbons to get together for a jam, can't imagine the great experience. 😊
That is a good drummer. tight.
Max volume on that music.he appears to be able to just rock the shit out of a guitar. I would say one of the unknown and underrated guitarists
#happybirthday
