What sets HLL out from COD and Battlefield games for example, is that a good game relies on working as a set of squads equally defending/attacking to win the game. As well as squad leaders working with a Commander to effectively win the game.

I know he won’t say it himself but I will, Paul is one of the best Historians on the planet. I’ve had the honor of knowing him for around 15 years and we always try and get together when I’m in Normandy. I always try and introduce him to our tour groups when we are doing our tours.
Thank you Paul, keep up the great work and see you soon.

I'm an American who one day would very much like to visit Normandy - can you recommend a website or company to begin researching this? Won't be for a while, I still have to save up the money, but I would very much value any guidance you could provide.

Hello Paul! It is amazing to see how much you appreciate the map design and passion we put into creating our maps. As you've remarked, some "additions" and artistic license taken are to accomodate gameplay so as to make the map easier to play. The town of "SMDM" and Brecourt Manour plus the artillery battery situated there in the nearby hedgerow and surrounding areas were designed to historical accuracy using aerials, photographs and cross referencing those with google maps for additional context. These areas are considered landmarks and are closest to the real life location back in the 1940s and as you move away you'd see more artistic license taken. In regards to the buildings being repeated - due to current technology we are indeed having to be creative with how we reuse assets to design a map. I worked with another level designer on this map and as said, very proud to see you enjoy our work!
    Cheers,
Grytzen, level designer for Hell Let Loose.

Hi Grytzen, thanks for replying. I appreciate the art in the game and I think we are at a point where video games now often have a better sense of reality than recreated footage in documentaries using re-enactors. I'm going to do some more of these reaction shows. Hell Let Loose - Purple Heart Lane will be next

I can’t tell you enough how proud I am of your team to recreate these historical maps. Y’all could have taken the easy way out and you didn’t. You guys did an amazing job! I’ve dreamed of playing a game such as this since I was a kid. So thank you for the authenticity.
Also, any chance hll in the future will have Japanese /usmc factions. Imagine playing on iwo jima or gudacanal.

Awesome stuff! I found you over on some history underground videos, and to see you breakdown my favorite game is so cool! HLL and the maps in the game are so amazing. Good game for the younger generation to hopefully get interested in history. Good work!

I'm really enjoying these videos. They're well done, you know exactly what you're talking about (obviously ☺️) and if you spot something that isn't right, you explain why and what would be there instead. Keep this up, Paul - and thanks!

For next videos regarding Hell Let Loose. Be sure to sort them for the latest videos. It's a game that updates constantly and sometimes I see you are using really old videos from the game.
Either way... amazing videos!! Keep it up!

Unless I missed it I don’t believe the water pump is shown in the town square. I think the exact spot where it stands is there but there’s just a gap with nothing inside

Hey ww2tv, recently got some gameplay from a tankers perspective during the Omaha landings and fighting inland against German defenses, was curious where I could send it to you if you were interested?

Paul... I heard a history of D-Day a long time ago, about a ship that got aground on purpose to be able to hit certain german positions. Is it true? or just a myth?
    Thx!!

A couple of Destroyers came close but none ran aground deliberately

02:53 that camo worn there is presumably to be a representation of the US Pathfinders??. This shown here looks like a cross between USMC camo and the short lived US Army polkadot pattern worn by some units in Normandy (Robert Capa took pics).

    • @WW2TV
      @WW2TV  2 роки тому +2

I think it's the cammo that certain units in 2nd Armored wore

hopefully you dont care for the gameplay because all you seen is indestructible impenetrable impassable : it include the stone wall the burning vehicule the wooden barrier but also the bush foliage what is very frustrating when rushing with a 75mm tank

Didn't the locals remove the WWI monument so the Germans wouldn't destroy it? I seem to recall hearing or reading that somewhere.
