Hell yeah, Lithium is such a good choice. We also occasionally play Man In The Box by Alice in Chains when an opposing player gets a penalty.
Love this!
That's freaking awesome
Hell yeah
Kraken should also play Nirvana Territorial Pi$$ings on the face-off too.

Goalie helmet art rankings please
Miss the Yotes Howlin' for You by the Black Keys - one of the best ever.
I agree, loved that one.
Yes it fit so well
Puck off is the only correct answer.
I dont recall anyone else having a goal song until Luds brought the Puck Off tape into the lockerroom to get the boys fired up. It didnt take long for it to become "the goal song" and now every team has to have one as well. The Stars won the Cup and set the goal song trend. in 99.
the winnipeg jets have different goal songs for every player as well
I couldn't agree more with you about the Canucks. It feels like a lullaby trying to put me to sleep. I can't believe we went from Holiday to this.
Shake Rattle and Roll is Ovechkin's goal song, not the Capital's as a whole. Each player has their own song which makes it hard to rate I suppose.
It's on the video linked in the description. The other option is to skip the Caps altogether.
@@TheHockeyGuy yeah I get it. I can't remember when they changed it up to player based, but they haven't had the best goal songs regardless. So they'd still be lower tier.
@@AmansetrockI like Conner mcmcicheals song
Skipping them would be okay, just mentioning they have a goal song for each player and ranking them all would make for way too long and confusing a video. Not to mention, the likelihood Nic Dowd's Call me Al selection might cause a hole in the floor. Just kidding, I want to hear it a lot as he's hopefully on the way to a career year.
You Can Call Me Al is a great song.
No other team in the history of the league can say they have a custom made song from a world renowned band that won them the cup. Then celebrated said victory at the drummers house. And allegedly dented Lord Stanley trying to throw him into the pool from the balcony.
(Frequenting Vinny’s strip club may have also contributed)
#1 is easy. Dallas. PANTERAAA🤟
Buffalo only uses Song 2 when they wear the goathead jerseys. It's going back to the goal song they used back in the late 90s when they normally wore the goathead jerseys.
You need to score goals to have a 'goal song'.

I'm definitely in the minority in that I love the Shark's goal song. It's a bop when the goals get going, and that Vegas Game 7 comeback iced it for me. I never want it changed.
I’m a sharks fan and I absolutely hate the goal song. At least the pre 2015 one was generic but had some energy, the new one has 0 redeeming qualities imo. To each their own of course
Baby Shark?
The Gaslight Anthem are one of my favourite bands. Their song 'Howl' is the goal song for the Devils. Devils are my 3rd favourite teams just cause of the goal song 😂
And they’re NJ natives. Great choice, NJ.
Not a Dallas fan, but they definitely have the coolest goal song. Seems like the Abbott brothers genuinely were into hockey which was cool too. I hear "Crowd Chant" when the Islanders score and cringe. Really happy the Wild bailed on that one a few years back.
Still have nightmares of the Hawks goal song from when they were winning Cups. You'd hear it a lot as an opposing fan.
Can't beat Dallas. Recently just had the 20th anniversary of Dime's passing so it's cool they still keep it.
I still have the newspaper clipping from the story that night.
Dallas Stars will always be my favorite even though I'm a Wild fan. The fact that Pantera wrote that for them. Also helps that Pantera is my favorite band
The hockey content GOAT. Love you hockey guy.
The Leafs only use Panama during some games, bizarrely. Their main song is some generic techno thing. They really need to just go with Panama all the time!
Its actually a sped up version of Colorados, they use Panama for original 6 opponents, and the sped up Colorado otherwise.
Go back to you make my dreams come true!
Came for the title.
Stayed, liked, and subscribed for The Warning t-shirt.
The real question is, which The Warning song goes with each team?
It's funny to me that you talk about the Sharks having their goal song forever. It feels like they just changed it from Rock and Roll Part II. I looked back and the current one has been a thing since late in the 2018-19 season, with a brief interlude after they hosted the 2020 All star game where the players had personalized goal songs (Stefan Noesen's was "Hakuna Matata", Hertl had the TMNT theme song, Jumbo had "Radio Gaga", Couture had "Girls just Wanna Have Fun", etc )
Easily my favorite part of going to Stars games is hearing Pantera and screaming "DALLAS! STARS!". Goal horn itself resolves so well as a note and isn't obnoxious.
So glad that the Flyers brought back Ain’t Talkin Bout Love as their song. 90s Legion of Doom era. If they aren’t going to bring back Doop, at least they brought back VH. A million times better than the literal “Shot on iPhone” song they had recently.
I am hoping that when the Flyers get back to the place where playoffs seem likely every year as opposed to a reach every year (LONG reach) that they've got doop in their back pocket. When they're picked in the preseason as a top 2 in the Metro or something. I miss those days.
Dallas’ is even cooler because Pantera wrote it specifically FOR them. They didn’t just pick a Pantera song - it was literally made for the Dallas Stars.
Brass Bonanza is of course the only true answer in this universe and 99.42 % of all verses in the multiverse. And yes getting played only during one game per season means that it (of course) counts, a lot.
Who wants to tell him he just called "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" "generic"? I'm not even a hair metal fan and I still a) recognized the song as soon as I heard it, and b) have immense respect for Eddie Van Halen's guitar work. (It should be mentioned that influential death metal guitarist Trey Azagthoth admits to being influenced by him as well, so...)
Hey great shirt! The Warning are an incredible band!
Thank you Shannon. You’re really a funny guy and your little joke/tangents really hit home and are just awesome
I'm not a Blue Jackets fan, but their goal celebration is fire. That opinion is obviously heavily skewed by their cannon, but still
Kyle Connors Hell Yeah after Gonna Celebrate is electric.
probablt the best goal song, a next close is when pantera did the dallas stars goal song
Just love hearing that song when I listen to games
I Remember The Goal Song “Chelsea Dagger” From Chicago Became a Huge Dislike From a Flyers Fan For a While
New Jersey's goal song is a lot deeper than one would think cuz Gaslight Anthem is from New Jersey and shouting you suck at the other team's goalie is just fun.
Saw the warning when they opened for three days grace. They really knocked it out of the park live!
Flyers current goal song (Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' ' bout Love") is a return from it's previous use in the late 90s to mid-aughts.
Shannon having the Canucks and Lightning songs near or at the bottom is a W. Those are HORRIBLE.
Now do Chicago's song. Lol
Vancouver is number 1
KernKraft 400 is by far #1 because EVERY team uses it at some point in their game.
That should knock it down quite a bit, actually. If every team uses it. it must not be very unique, or interesting anymore since it's been overused. Plus, I don't think Toronto uses it lol
BTW…Panic! At the Disco are from Vegas.
Thanks for doing this, THG. I've always loved the horns and songs as it just adds to the brand for teams. It's a great way of integrating the community if done right.
As a Canucks fan I completely agree with their goal song being last. A goal song should be a song that gets you excited and pumps you up and the Canucks one definitely doesn’t. Whoever picked it should have their head examined.
And the background story behind the Pantera puck off song for the Stars is legendary. Pantera came up with the song because Craig Ludwig D man on the 99 team asked them to come up with something, because he was friends with the band. Pantera came up with the track right before the playoffs in 99. Game 6 in St Louis they had shipped the track to the arena but it got delayed. It got there between the end of regulation and OT. The team fired it up in the lockeroom and went out and won the game early in OT to move onto the WCF. Legendary shit.
Hello! I'm a fan of traditional country music and I really enjoy the sweet sound of goal horns. Greetings from Helsinki, Finland! 🤠
I'm pretty sure that Utah HC is going to use A Bar Song by Shaboozey as their goal song starting next year. It's already sort of their unoffical theme song, and is used in a lot of fan made highlight videos. The reason for this is that Shaboozey performed before the first Utah HC home game at the beginning of the year. I know that a song about drinking is a little weird for a Utah based team, but in my experience the Utah HC fanbase is probably majority non-Mormon, which is why the team has been setting beer sale records for the Delta Center all year.
Another possibility for their new goal song is Wow by Post Malone. It was played during the introduction of the players in their first ever game, and Post Malone actually lives in Utah. Also, the song has the line "750 Lambo in the Utah snow", so it's pretty perfect.
The bells for the blues. Is the countdown for the rally towel guy. He counts down the goals then throws a blues towel down from the nosebleeds
Counts up, but yes.
The Capitals' goal song for "Shake Rattle and Roll" is only Ovechkin's goal song (as all players have their own individual song as mentioned in the video).
Fun fact - Ovechkin's original individual goal song was Dr.Dre's Still D.R.E (ft. Snoop Dogg), but that was quickly changed after a game presumably to the more family friendly Shake Rattle and Roll
As an NJ native, NJ devils fan, and HUGE The Gaslight Anthem fan….. I’m saddened. The Gaslight Anthem is from NJ and I love how they played live at the Stadium series. TGA is epic
Great shirt!
As a Panthers fan and season ticket holder who has to hear the goal song unfortunately often, I gotta agree with your ranking. Our goal song is trash. BRING BACK SWEETNESS!
I did not like the sweetness but after awhile with the team finally getting better it was more enjoyable. The garbage they have now is just an embarrassment. Even worse live because everyone is like, man i hate this song, but they scored so i have to cheer. However there aren't many rock bands that came out of FL. Nonpoint is like the biggest and for awhile they used their songs for the start of the game which was actually a cover but whatever. Creed is west coast. Limp Bisquick is Jacksonville. Deicide is also Tampa and probably too heavy. Makes Pantera look like a band for 5 year olds at an after school sing along. I have a Kitten with a name on it? kitten with a name?
Kings need to bring i love LA back
I like the Knights goal song (local band sings about Vegas, what’s not to like?) but when Wild Bill scores and DJ Joe Green plays ‘Dancing Queen’…*chef’s kiss*. Karlsson needs to score more in the Fortress!
8.b should be mentioned. When the Canes play Brass Bonanza when they put on the Whaler Jersey.
Those are my top 2 as well! Dallas and Seattle have amazing goal songs
FYI, We sing it as "when the Blues come marching in", not the saints. That's been a tradition since day 1. (I was there!) Thanks for the rating. 😊
We’re #2! We’re #2! I thought SEA did a great job from day 1 with the ferry horn and Nirvana combo 🥳
Thanks for the video! I wonder where they would rank if only by year released? They DO play a lot of music from last century at hockey games. I guess they know who is buying most of the tickets. The Blackhawks goal song is Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis, a Scottish rock band, which was released in 2006. It's used a lot with sports outside the USA but the Blackhawks picked it up in 2008 not long before they started winning their three Stanley Cups. Maybe a new song is what a team needs to move out of their rebuild? 😉
The ducks getting rid of bro hymn has officially cursed the franchise.
A small part of me misses Hall & Oates, which i never thought I would
Best part of the Devils goal song is the fans chanting YOU SUCK at the lyric breaks.
but does it change to we suck when the score is 5-1 for the other team and you finally get goal number 1 with 30 seconds left in the game?
I thought you were gonna bust out an oh oh oh oreilly auto parts bit.
As a Sharks fan, here's my personnal podiums
1) Colorado 2) Seattle 3) Minnesota
30 ) Edmonton 31) Saint Louis 32) Carolina
I agree about the Canucks and Stars for sure. As a Flames fan I would put their goal song #2. Sadly, it doesn’t get played enough 😂
I love the Without Me goal song. I also love that it annoyed you enough to put it in the lower tier. Objective complete.
My favorites are Howl, Puck Off, and Lithium.
I like that each arena uses a locally relevant horn type. The Calgary train whistle compared to the Seattle foghorn is perfect.
The Canucks should return to Electric Worry by Clutch! Bang, bang, bang!!!
Haven't been to a Sharks game in a long time (might go this season) and I remember that same goal song from back then. Dont hate it, but a new song is long overdue.
whats your thoughts on Song 2 by Blur for Goathead Sabres nights?
My Hawks fan bias makes me say we’re #1, but as a Pantera fan I honestly can’t argue with Dallas at #1
Every Capitals player has their own goal song, Shake, Rattle, and Roll is just Ovi's. I doubt it changes the ranking, but just a heads up
So does Winnipeg
I despise the sharks but I appreciate their goal song and goal announcer. It’s retro in the right way and gets the crowd going.
Id put the sharks in top 10 easily. That's a classic
The Warning is a 1984 LP by Queensryche. THAT is an amazing recording. We have the same taste in Motley Crue. I love Smoke the Sky and Poison Apples on that CD with John Corabi on vocals. I wish the Capitals would go back to The Wickerman by Maiden. I stopped at #4 to edit. The fact that Pantera's Dallas Stars is in your top 3 has me smiling from ear to ear...and I am a Blues fan
I personally think the Bruins should have shipping up to boston as their goal/theme song. That song just suits them and should stay there forever.
As a Canes fan I love when they do Whalers night and bring back Brass Bananza goal song. I grew up a Rangers fan on Long Island. My dad for some reason was a Whalers. (He grew in south west PA) We would jump on the ferry from Port Jeff Long Island to Connetiquit for Rangers @ Whalers games at the Hartford Civic Center. (Basically a mall with an NHL arena in it. At the last Whalers night they handed out cow bells to the first x amount of fans.
I miss Holiday in Vancouver and Sweetness in Florida😢
Interesting fact Toronto has 2 goal songs. The one often heard is “dup dup” by mickey Krause and then they use “Panama” for original 6 opponents.
I think "shot down in flames" was an even better choice for the Flames, although it could use a bit of remastering to give it the punch that TNT has.
Detroit has the best goal song. I absolutely love singing the “NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA” every time we score at home. it makes me so happy😭😭😭
I hate that the duck got rid of their goal song, they’ve had that literally forever. First they got rid of the siren back in like 2016, and now they finally have a new song. Gonna take me a while that was one of my favorite goal songs in the league
The Blues play the bell sound after Tom Calhoun does the goal announcement. Then the towel man gets up from his seat in section 315 and goes to the bottom of the section and waves the towel to pump up the crowd before they sound the bell and then he throws the towel somewhere. If he runs out, then he'll have a towel on a string that he'll throw and pull back.
Don't You Forget About Me is amazing.
I don’t normally pay attention to teams’ losing songs, but I’ve gotta say that Float On is such a great losing song.
The newer Panthers goal song pounds that bass-heavy quick heartbeat rhythm into anyone in that arena, easy for the crowd to cheer to.
Back in the day when Lemieux was playing, the Pittsburgh Penguins used Gary Glitter, Hey extensively but due to his conviction, they no longer use that song for obvious reasons.
totally agree brother about the crue. misunderstood is an amazing song. hooligan's holiday too
Kings need to get back to I Love LA transitioning INTO the goal song. Still don't know why they dropped that.
The Wings' goal song is far from the top of the list of things they should change, but I do think we can do better than something seemingly chosen to just be obnoxious. I want something fun and exciting. The White Stripes started in Detroit. Black Math would be sick as hell, IMO. Tons of energy right off the bat. I even think with each goal they should play another section of the song, instead of just the same part every time.
I was hoping last year was the only year for it.
Panama is not the Leafs goal song. They only use that for throwback Thursday games. Their goal song is Düp Düp by Mickie Krause
Melbourne ICE in the AIHL play Chelsea Dagger for home goals. It's GOATED
Minnesota has the amazing "State of Hockey" song, yet they use that out of place oldies "Shout" song.
Not a Wild fan but I love "Shout" as a goal song, it's my third favorite on the league. The strange thing is I've never understood why they don't use "Born to be Wild".
"Hard impact there from Gallagher on Kreider, not sure who's worse for wear but ...
What the?
BAH GAWD, THAT'S BRUINS MUSIC! And the captain Marchand is leading the black-and-yellow-jerseyed boys onto the ice! OHHH! STONE COLD SLEW-FOOT! STONE COLD SLEW-FOOT! STONE COLD SLEW-FOOT!"
I hated Chelsea Dagger for so long, and then they played it every time my college's football team scored a TD, and I get it now
I think the fact that Chelsea Dagger is universally hated, means its a great goal song. Comong from a non-Chicago fan
I waited 31 years to finally attend a Ducks game in person.... and they replace Pennywuse with an Offspring song I didn't recognize.
Shannon, in a previous live chat you picked Nine Inch Nails "Head Like a Hole" as the goal song for your Shadows hockey team. If Trent wanted too much money, and if you agree with me that the lyrics to "Hurt" by Dead Poet Society featuring the Warning don't quite work for a celebration, which song by The Warning would you use?
There’s a number of songs that I might not like at all, but I respect and rate them high because they’re such a part of the team. Like Columbus and Nashville, not a fan of the songs, but those are very much their songs. There’s a certain point where you just can’t change them.
For the Blues, they’ve played “Blues go marchin in” basically since 1967. In the early 2000s, they tried to stop using it, and that maybe lasted a couple of games before reverting back. I don’t know who complained the most: alumni, season ticket holders, or the local media, but literally no one agreed with the move.
Going to be honest here : the goal song kills the goal celebration in Montreal. back in the days, we had the organist play "les canadiens sont la" well after the crowd erupted and had their celebration and that was perfect.
I'll wait is a lesser known gem.
"Especially with the name sharks......." - *casual zoom on The Warning shirt.
As a Sharks fan, Lithium is absolutely the best goal song. Too perfect as you mentioned. Just so happens to be by my all-time favorite band too.
For some added tooting of horns, I was clamoring for SEA to use Lithium as their goal song from Day 1 as soon as it was announced that they'd be getting a team. Glad they cruised the internet and found my comments and listened 😂
I miss Sweetness so much. I'm not even a Florida fan but it was the best goal song ever
regarding Linkin Park, I believe Calgary played "Heavy Is The Crown" in arena while they were beating the Kings, which is probably the best use I've ever heard for that song (fire in the sky, ashes raining down etc). It also kicked off their current dialed-in run. Reverse jinx song?
I love the Canucks goal song! The Canadiens had the best with l'Oreille a few years ago.
