    hmm. i always though it was just regular lightning that traveled much more horizontally when compared to traditional lightning .

    Lightning that crosses the sky above you, start to stop that does not touch the ground is what we call heat lightning. Not something that you only see a flash but touches down miles away. I guess not all "weathermen" don't know about midwestern summers.

      lightning can be seen from a thunderstorm up to 20 miles away.

      @@powerflashes that doesn't explain the lightning that was right above me head with no noise

    Except I have footage of a lightning storm about 7 miles away and it there is no thunder to be heard. 🤔
    Same with some other videos on YT with a storm right above their heads that is shooting lightning sans thunder…
