thank you for showing and explaining this underrated smiths song, been trying to learn it FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS BUT I couldnt get the rythm right. Thank you, greetings from chile.
love that blue 360. i’m thinking of saving up to get a blue 330 because of johnny obviously but also because my favorite color is blue and i can’t think of any guitarists known for having a blue ricky.
Thanks I got it second hand, Ricky’s aren’t that common anyway so easier to get what you want in a way, I’ve heard they do set productions of colours so not all colours available all the time, mines Midnight Blue which I think was a limited run. 👍
Thanks, those are two that I don’t know how to play myself, but yes I’ve made a note and if I can suss them I’ll do them for you. Thanks for supporting my channel 🙏🤓🎸
Thanks so much. The posters are original promo posters by Rough Trade which used to appear in record shops. You can pick them up on Ebay but they aren’t cheap as they are collectible now. I had mine framed myself. You can also get reproductions. 🙏🤓🎸
Thanks @pgroove163, I’m guessing you know what it is but just in case not it’s a Rickenbacker 360, mine’s a limited colour they did called Midnight blue 👍🤓🎸
I’ll have a listen. I’ve done quite a few of the more well known ones now and so I am thinking of looking at some others. Believe it or not it takes me quite a bit of time preparing as I like to try as far as possible to get close, so it might be one for me to start working on. Let’s see and if I think I can do it at some point I will 👍🤓🎸
Ha ha, I know that Johnny Marr played a black 330 but I love my midnight blue 360 - thanks for supporting my channel and there’s more Smiths coming in November 👍🤓🎸🙏
I hate want to sound biased, but when it comes to my British favorites like the Sex Pistols or The Smiths, I take a teacher with a proper english accent every time. For The Smiths nobody beats Gary in accuracy as well as simplicity. There are others on youtube, but I find they tend to skip some very important elements in Marrs legendary watery, beautiful tone. Nobody is 100 percent, not even Marr lol, but Gary is as close as it gets and most importantly teaches the SOUL of The Smiths. ❤🎸🎸🎸
I’m very flattered to hear your kind comments thanks so much. It’s interesting working on some of the songs I’ve loved for a lot of my life but never had time until now. I’m learning about JM’s techniques myself as I do these and I’m glad you like the authenticity (I am from Salford / Manchester originally so maybe that helps. Glad you like the accent although I’m no Hugh Grant! 😂Maybe we need the Pistols on here soon then…….👍🎸🤓🙏🙏🙏
Your lesson helped me a lot😊 much gratitude my friend. From Colombia 🇨🇴 😊
Amazing glad you enjoyed it @aemrng . There is lots more Smiths on my channel so please check it out if you haven’t already. Thanks so much 🙏🤓🎸👍
My favourite Smiths song ever. Damn this is good. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; love your lessons mate.
Yes it’s proper old school Smiths isn’t it - I love your comments too, so I’ll keep the lessons coming 👍🤓🎸
Agreed, he just gets it. No bs, just passionate lessons that help us all.
havent gotten away with any of the videos on here and been wanting to learn this for months now- top class mate
Johnny made simple, open chords sound glorious. And I find the lyrics to this one very amusing, too - totally Moz, tongue-in-cheek. Well done, Gary.
P.S. That Em chord features on the outro loop to Pretty Girls Make Graves.
Yep and I think the live Ask middle bit
Totally agree- and those lyrics take me way back, an old friend and I used to laugh at that line about falling out of bed twice 🤣
Interesting! I'll have to listen to Ask again
Great video gary! Please do "These things take time" next ❤
Thanks @FitnessFabels, I’ve got a few videos in the pipeline and that it one of them so it will be quite soon. Thanks for supporting my channel 👍🤓🎸🙏
Thanks so much! This is a beautiful arrangement and not super hard to play! Johnny Marr is the GOAT!

Thanks @pgroove163, I’m guessing you know what it is but just in case not it’s a Rickenbacker 360, mine’s a limited colour they did called Midnight blue 👍🤓🎸
Hey Gary. Do you think you could do a tutorial of “You’ve got everything now”? That’s one of the tougher ones to learn by ear in my experience
I’ll have a listen. I’ve done quite a few of the more well known ones now and so I am thinking of looking at some others.
