So glad I could help support your patreon. To all those on the fence, let me tell you: supporting great teachers and artists keeps this great music alive and the value is outstanding! Seriously, give it a try.
Plus he provides .pdf and .gp copies of the lesson and, often, backing tracks to supporters. Outstanding value added.
Andy's bassline on this is fantastic
The only person I trust to teach Marr. Thank you for everything.
Easy money is a great solo Marr song that I’d love to hear you cover
Second that. Great song!
Absolutely fantastic. More Smiths please; William it was really nothing is so challenging only you can be trusted to unlock the secrets. Both yourself and Eric Haugen are without doubt the best teachers on UA-cam.
Have to wait another year now unfortunately 😢
@@pcalf101 Why's that?
My favorite riff by him, that change into the verse riff is soooooo goood
Yet another winning lesson, Andrian. To my way of thinking, your channel has the best guitar related content on UA-cam. Many thanks as always!
Beautifully done!! As for JM tunes to do in future, how about the live version of Electronics "Getting Away With It"? It has a stunningly good outro arpeggiated section!
Johnny's breakdown on that live is GENIUS.
"Getting Away With It" is an Electronic song that Johnny has refashioned so it's guitar-centric instead of synth-centric. He plays an extended break in the middle, and the song is an important part of his live show, sometimes the closer. It's kind of a simple song, but the melodic progressions of the break are beautiful, one great riff after another. P.S. I agree, "Marr's Guitars" is a classic!
yeah the guitar version is great
Superb. And acknowledging Andy Rourke's peerless bass line.
Can't wait to give this one a go. Was lucky enough to see them do this live when I was only fifteen and it was absolutely epic.
Hey this is the first time you've posted a song I already know! You play it differently than me though so I'll learn your version and see which is more comfortable for me. Keep up the great lessons!
Yes. Just yes. Mr. Marr is a genius.
Superb as always Adrian
Amazing! Was waiting for this one
Wow. What a riff!!! And superbly played! Thanks!
Love, love, love this channel.
Fantastic. You really can’t do too many of these. Cracking song
Thank you
Thanks for the gear share as well! Pls keep doing that!
i really like your lessons...i don't watch them often, but they are very helpful in these noisy tracks like this one where it is harder to hear the guitar part clearly in the wash of the the band and the reverb in the recording. it's an awesome shortcut when someone has already parsed it out of the clamor...it's also great that you talk about how you make the sounds you are making.
This was my latest attempt to learn a JM work and I've been navigating all the material out there just a month ago. Perfect timing for your lesson as I could'nt figure out accurately the last loose funky part.
pls do (nothing but) flowers! lovely guitar parts by Johnny
Ah yeah, I second that.
Right on time :) I've just been watching Johnny Marr on That Pedal Show talk about "some" of his guitars. A recommended nerdy watch :) Playing like he does just flows out of him, amazing to watch ..and hear him talk about his influences, and all of his projects over the years. Right, now I better have a go at learning this, cheers
The peeps are going to love this one 👍👍👍👍
This is the song that finally got me into the smiths.
Thanks very much for the lesson!
excellent as always
Learning this track was a watershed moment for me - gonna have to give it a refresher now. Thanks
"Barbaric" tutorials always begin at this channel. Pristine work on an all time fave. Congrats!
Yes, start up a bass guitar channel!👏😀
Thanxalot Adrian! Unexpectedly, I could really hear clear reflections of “Le Freak” in the funky part!
I think you’re the first person who nails the fills to this one-thank you!
Welp, I know what I'm going to be doing all weekend: trying my hardest to get this Marr riff down! Super excited! Many thanks for this one!
Sounds amazing
Ah yes… been a while since your last Smiths lesson! As usual… spot on👍🏽👍🏽
A channel dedicated to bass guitar would great Adrian.great video as always.best guitar channel on UA-cam by a country mile!
Smart! Love it!
Fantastic!
Awesome version mate
Oh yeah, the incredible Johnny Marr!👍
Great tune, thank you! Johnny Marr requests: Spiral Cities, Little King, Upstarts, Getting Away With It, Dashboard
Pls do some The The when you can. Great job as always!
YESS I WAS WAITING FOR THIS! I think I messaged you on facebook asking if you could cover this one!!!!
Thank you!
Absolutely wonderful video, thank you for this. ❤ Marr request: Anything from "Call the Comet".
Brilliant thanks
Freaking awesome!!
absolute legend
Ahhhh! It's that time again!!!
I would love a tutorial for “we’ve got everything “ by Modest Mouse. Excellent lesson as always, The Smiths never disappoints, thank you!
Hi Adrian, would be awesome if you looked at We Share The Same Skies by The Cribs - fantastic Marr riff.
Thanks for another great lesson.
New Town Velocity would be wonderful
I agree!
Great lesson Adrian. I would a lesson on slow emotion replay or heartland. I would love a lesson on middle of the road by the pretenders which was played by the great Robbie McIntosh
Thankyou, brilliant, 👏.
Like deployed 👍
😎🎙🎸✅️
Always appreciate the songs that you play. That Jazzmaster could do with a double string tree. Tightens up the sound.
For a non-smiths Marr track, Slow Emotion Replay by The The would be an awesome tutorial.
10:30 is a riff that drove me nuts trying to figure out! Believe he plays the 335 on this. At least live he did,
Badass. All hail Johnny Maee
Learning a smiths song is my guitar goal for this year
Greetings to the New Brunette (Shirley) by Billy Bragg. I would love to see you show how Marr played the guitar on that one
Love your lessons. Any chance of doing a Blockheads one in the future? Preferably, Razzle in my pocket.
Great lesson Adrian. Regarding Johnny Marr solo material, please consider covering 'The Messenger.' Thank you.
I've never really investigated the Smiths, due to being a bit too young for them at the time and finding the few famous songs I have heard of theirs a not my thing (I think I don't like Morrissey's voice). But these lessons are really making me want to get into them. I love Marr's Cribs stuff, though.
Definitely can tell this is your favorite of your guitars. I like them all I would feel tempted to get the Marr Jaguar however. I’m currently torn both. Les Paul and Strat were stolen last month. I’m still angry but feel like starting over and not simply replacing them. So your Jazzmaster has captured my interest though. The Marr Jaguar seems to be calling me. I’m only going to be able to have one nice electric for a while so wondering what you’d advise. Last time I asked about gear I got the Fender Princeton and I’m not playing a Vix ever again. It’s a superb amp. Trying to a voice Les Paul Tele Strat as they immediately sound like classic rock radio to me. So.Marr Jag after a lot of time spent working or get a Squire and become a guitar tech which seems how to make offsets work.I don’t enjoy that stuff much though personally plus I have a job need time to write songs. Practice. Help me make a decision. I can’t. Hahaha. I’m going to tip you. I’ve been making records for years but after cancer you got me back into guitar. Hence my trust in you. You’re not the typical check out my SRV tone guy.
I also have considered a Les Paul classic (love Les Pauls plus the single coil switch option which I believe he used in the studio for this song though as you said the 355 live). I do love Marrrs Les Paul but refuse to put a Bigsby on a work of art. Problem is then I just can’t play a lot of songs that feature tremolo bar flourishes. Which for my playing is an issue.
Nice! How about some more J Mascis - like off of the Tied to a star album?
10:23 "I'm hoping that's why you come to my videos" Yup 😂
Outstanding lesson yet again, how about an MC-5 in tribute to the late great Wayne kramer.
You definitely make me wanna get a jazz master. I think it sounds as good or Betty for Marr then even the custom jag. Which version do you have? I’ve hear gods things about the Mascis one but I don’t think I want a high gain sound out of a jazzmaster.
You are really great... Thinking about what Johnny Marr song (playing the guitar) I would like you to show...
Amazing video brother!! I know you may be tired of requests, but could you please make a tutorial on how to play Sweet and tender hooligan, by The Smiths? That one or Handsome Devil would be great. Thank you so much!!!
Can you do Children of the Revolution by Kirsty MacColl or Slow Emotion Replay by The The?
I'd love to hear what you'd get from Armageddon days are her by The The !
I also have a jazzmaster with rouge whammy bar 😂
Supposedly, if you hit it with a hammer just right, you can get it to stay. But I don't dare.
Have you covered Jonny Greenwood? Bought a jag just to cover that tonality J. Marr.
I always come back to Adrian...
This that compression setting good for most smiths stuff? Low attack
What amp and pedals did you use to get that sound?
New Town Velocity would be a good non-Smiths lesson idea.
Tighten Up by Electronic please
Never mind Johnny Marr - more Vini Reilly please!
I keep expecting it to turn into "Don't Dream It's Over" with that E chord and the rhythm.
Your thumbnail reminds me of Pavements Slanted and Enchanted
💖💖💖🙏💖💖💖
My request would be Nothing But Flowers by Talking Heads.
THE SMITHS👍
New town velocity please
Unruly Boys
Who will not grow up,
Must be taken in hand
Unruly girls
Who will not settle down
Must be taken in hand
Would love a modest mouse song we where dead is a masterpiece
Awesome tune and lesson, even though this was really Andy Rourkes song to be fair. Rip.
One of my least favorite Smiths songs, but never realized guitar part was so cool. But it’s Marr, so no surprise.
Hi hello please
Please do Paint A Vulgar Picture 👋
