Hope this does well enough for them to give this style of game another try. I was one of the few that actually really enjoyed Legend of Legacy, despite how obtuse and flawed it was. With the Alliance Alive they managed to fix pretty much all of the grievances I had with its predecessor while maintaining the charm that drew me into these games in the first place. They're old school in the best of ways, if that makes any sense. If they got another shot in this, err... "Alliteration Adventure"? series, this time built from the ground up for current hardware while keeping the same dev talent and style, it'd likely result in something pretty special.
I do think they maybe priced this release $10 higher than they should have, given the original 3DS price, but I'll get it regardless given how much I enjoyed the original version.
i would much rather see new rpgs like this than the ff7 remake. why anyone would prefer the more linear style like that over the huge, epic world to explore i don't understand. and even though ff7 remake is technically far visually impressive, i somehow find it more boring to look at than i do a game like this. i still find chrono trigger to be one of the most visually pleasing games i've played. for me art style and charm trump high polygon counts every time, and it feels like the more technically impressive a game looks, the more it looks like it was just designed by computers with none of the heart put into them that games used to have. there are exceptions to this of course but overall that's the way i see it.
Bravely default is a good series too if you have a 3ds. Good to know I don't have to spend 100$ on this game when it'd 30$ for switch and HD graghics.
Now if only Legend of Legacy could get a remake. I honestly felt that the game had a lot of potential despite what people day about it, but it's good to know that we still got a spiritual successor to it. If you had no knowledge of Romancing Saga prior to Legend of Legacy, of course you'd dislike the game and just write if off as a Bravely clone without giving the game a chance or even playing the game the whole way through. In fact, Legend of Legacy was probably the closest thing we've had to a Saga-esque game before Alliance Alive, and I pretty much enjoyed that game more than Bravely Second.
Legend of Legacy had potential but it stuck a little too closely to it's Romancing Saga inspiration, and I'm talking the real early ones which definitely have elements and ideas that work today but are filled with things that just haven't aged well.
I feel that they learned a lot from Legend of Legacy and when it came time to develop The Alliance Alive they only took the *good* elements from early era JRPGs that we are all most nostalgic for.

Hey do you remember how to get to the snow world. I got very far but because i like the story and wanted to work on the characters more i decided to replay. But i got the ether gears from rain caged and hot relm. And i cant remeber how to advance more lol

There are so many great old games that could use this treatment! So many great jrpgs languished in obscurity because of the platforms they were exclusive to.

It sounds like a modern SaGa game and I feel very silly for missing out on this earlier!
It should, some of the people that worked on it use to work on the SaGa series.
I plan to pick this up some day, but man those cutscenes look a little awkward with little to no sound.

Just a head up, the 3ds version has a demo on the eshop.
I held off buying the 3DS version since I was busy with Switch games already. Good thing the devs made the decision to port this on Switch. I don't mind getting Legend of Legacy as well if they decide to port it to Switch as well.
Haven't played it yet, and had to buy my copy from Amazon. Physical copy was actually hard to come by. My local game store didn't have it, even though I preordered it, then went to gamestop down the street and they also did not get a shipment. So I ordered it off of Amazon that very minute. Digitally you'd be ok but physically, it was harder than it should have been.
Always had my eye on it since it was announced , the system looks nice and unique enough to be interesting, but in all honesty 50 bucks is too much for me. And considering that I am still really spoiled by FE3H being fully voice acted I will probably for a sale on this one. Or probably just wait for the PC release cause it will probably cost less there.
What kind of length does this game have? I’m about 50 hours into DQXI and have FFXIII lined up next. I want to support the game, but may not have the time right now.
It also kind of reminds me of Radiant Historia, which everyone raves about, but I didn’t really like very much.
I think most people will get a good 30-40 hours out of it.
Radiant Historia has a much slower pace, and a much denser story than The Alliance Alive does, gameplay wise they aren't that similar either. Hope that helps :)
I am not passing on it this time around. I actually wanted it on the 3ds but i just never got around to buying it.
Can't say im the biggest fan of the battle system tho but i enjoyed everything else about it.
This game looks like a very good rpg, but the missing voice actors is a big scare off for me. I know myself, iam that kind of person that really falls asleep while watching cutszenes that are to silent and when i wake up im to tired to continue playing. that kinda scares me. I just hope that someone buys this game for me from my amazon wishlist so i dont have to pay for it myself :D
Regarding the cutscenes: This game is barely a few years old. There is no way they don't still have the project files for that. Or that they didn't render out a 4k or at least 1080p version before deleting everything. And if they did they should be scorned for that.
They aren't made the way a traditional video would be made, using something like premiere pro or sony vegas, they're done utilising in-engine assets, animation, and modeling softwares.
They would have been made in their target resolution (that of the 3DS) which is very common for 3DS games and means there's no easy way to upscale.
I'm glad that they gave The Legend Of Legacy battle system another chance because that game felt like a world of difference compared to The Alliance Alive.
when is the pc version coming ?
I totally forgot that the PC version is coming a little later. I believe it's early 2020 (I expect Jan/Feb).
I'll get it on the Switch at a discount. $50 not worth it imo since I got it on the 3DS.

NISA always manage to screw stuff up.
I was pretty disappointed that they didn't add voice acting to the Switch version, since it would be the perfect opportunity and they completely missed it. That being said, assuming they didn't change much outside of visuals (I own the Switch version but haven't played it since I also have played the 3DS version), still a great game! It's just one disappointing aspect. :P

as someone thats played both versions and loves this game i would have to disagree the 3ds version is by far the superior version (like most games that are also on the 3ds are) for the simple fact i can cheat in 3ds games which is something that immensely enhances my experience and i cant do that on ps4 or switch therefor they are inferior versions
Legend of Legacy left a bad taste in my mouth. I loved the art and music, but the story and gameplay is... ugh. This one is better right?

Maybe this is just an artstyle preference on my part but Bravely Default looks a lot better than this game. I enjoyed the Bravely games a lot too, but the look of this game makes it hard for me to want to pick this up.
The same-face characters and the bland battle backgrounds and overworld is just a big turnoff for me
