I use that pointer, its been at my belt line for hours under the water when I am neck deep. Wish it had a lanyard attachment point because I worry about it floating out but it always (so far) stays in the bag. Its been abused and works like new.
@@southernrelics well I have mine for around a year, it's starting to fail. Last trip out the highest setting would have to touch a coin to beep, same with a new battery. Then retested at home and worked ok, I think it's going out and working when it wants to. I know they all fail eventually. The pulse dive is amazing, was trying to save it until spring but its going to see some land use now.
Yes, a VLF 11,6 kHz, made to last, and very sensitive to small objects, well smaller than your ring. Fails on about a foot under water, because keeps giving false signals on max. sensitivity, but is ok if reduced to level 5 or 6. On dry conditions, you can take`t to any ground and it will have a good performance.
Great info. I just picked up a simplex for my back up detector. I retired my at pro to my brother so he can get into detecting. Looking forward to trying it out this weekend
i think this is the best value on a pin pointer u can get it was my first nokta pin pointer i ever had i think mine is like 6 or more years old and still going strong and for 85 bucks u cant beet it i think it cost $125 when my sister bought it for a gift for my birthday along time ago the tips are awesome one thing i did not like is it did not have leash hole on it they have aftermarket nokta retractable one i had one it broke i just used the ring and added my own leash to the ring part that screwed down on the top part the retractable part would get clogged with dirt i think they discontinued it
Yes. The only pinpointer that I have tried that does not interfere with the simplex is the PulseDive using the headphones. I do find the Simplex chatters very little when I point the coil of it away from the hole I’m digging in while using just about any pinpointer with it. That’s the only way I don’t have to hit the mute button.
It depends. Most the time I’ll leave it with full sensitivity. But sometimes when the target is bigger or I am having trouble locating it, I will lower the sensitivity to four or five to get a better understanding of where the target is in the plug or in the hole. I usually don’t have a problem with it falsing.
I just purchased one for use with my Simplex and have a question. If I have the sensitivity any higher than the factory setting of 5, my pinpointer starts beeping non stop. Even if I push mute on the detector. And the only way to try to get it to stop is to change the frequency from the Default F2 down to F1. F2 & F3..it crackles so bad you can't even use it. Is this something normal with it and I'm doing something wrong or ?? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Hmm. Very interesting. I have never experienced this. I will have to get mine out and see if I can replicate that scenario. Every pinpointer interferes with the Simplex in some way, but I have never had the Simplex not be silent when muted. That is odd. When you are digging, try pointing the coil completely away from you and the pinpointer as well as use the mute function.
@Southern Relics I'm sorry, the Simplex is muted, but the Pinpointer is what's going crazy! After contacting you earlier, I tried replacing the battery with a new Alkaline one. It seemed to help. But I can only use the pinpointer with the Simplex set on frequency F1. F2 & F3, the Simplex goes crazy. Do you have to change your frequency to F1 as well? And if that's the case, does running the Simplex in F1 effect its performance in anyway? I sincerely appreciate you replying back about this. Enjoy your Channel..hands down my favorite!
Thanks for the review does it come with a place to secure it to a lanyard ?.
It does not have a place to attach a lanyard.
@@southernrelics Thank you so much I have 1 on the way already and just thought about that. Happy digging

That’s good to hear. A lanyard hook point would be helpful.

Thanks for this information.
If you could only choose one pin pointer would it be the Garret AT or this Nokta pin pointer?
Great question. The Garret AT has one feature I wish the Nokta pointer had. It has the ground balance feature.

Awesome!

Yes they did.
Finally a decent reviewer.....good job.
Thanks for the compliment.
Does it interfere with the Symplex,? When you turn it on do you have to hit the mute button on the Symplex?

Great review and I went and bought the Scuba Dive one.. Just cause I might Do some underwater detecting someday.. if not I use it as a back up..
Awesome! Good luck with it.
Well done review Stephen. Your son is blessed to have such a nice pinpointer!
Yeah he likes it too.
Hell I thought he's pretty lucky to have a cool ass dad =(
That material on the sheath looks like neoprene. Great review!
That’s the word I was looking for
Could this be made more waterproof by dippimg in liquid plastic?
I’m not sure. I’ve never tried that. It would void the warranty if it didn’t work.
After it was peeled off who would know?
What sensitivity do you use it at? I know it has 1-10. Just curious what’s the best without too much faulting.
It depends. Most the time I’ll leave it with full sensitivity. Yay thank you very much I appreciate it 😊
You’re welcome

Good review.
your horse shoes on your fence should be the other way up to stop the luck falling out lol
lol
I use the Garrett carrot. But may get one of thos.
It would be a great backup for sure.
It can go underwater right?
Yes. It is waterproof to 3 feet. Which is great in shallow creeks/rivers and also can handle rainy conditions. It’s a great pinpointer.
@@southernrelics great! Im gonna go scuba diving now
Sounds good just wish it was 10'deep and still waterproof
Right. Well now they have the Accupoint. It is waterproof to 10 feet. It’s an upgrade option.
Nice review. I'll definitely keep this in mind next time I'm in the need of a new pin pointer. Thanks for sharing and take care.
Thanks for watching
No gold ring?
Very good review of the pinpointer. Pros and cons of the unit are absolutly in favor of the pros. 😎⛏⛏🔥🔥
👍🏼
Your links for the pin pointer and pulsedive are no longer working
Thanks for letting me know. I’ll look into that.
No worries I appreciate your content. It helped me decided on a pinpointer!
I Love my Nokta Pointer/ #Simplex+
Great units.

It is actually waterproof to 32 feet, 10 meters.
Really that's great
Does it have a visual indicator? I am deaf.
Great question. I believe the light on it flickers when it detects metal. It also has the vibrate function, which can also aid you as well.
Thanks, but vibrate wont help from 250 feet down
@@bobinsd1 the PulseDive is waterproof to that depth. Have you looked into that one?
👍
