      Hi, i'm13 and in 7th grade. I have been interested in acting for several years now, but I was wondering if I could join the program at the age of 13, is that alright?

    Don’t forget actors, there’s cuts in between. There coulda been many blinks left on the cutting room floor. But still Practice - just know It’s okay if you can’t go without blinking for that long. It can be straining.

    Things noticed:
    1. She maintains eye contact while he furtively glances away. This shows her character has gained the upper hand in the situation and for this moment in the movie he has lost the tight control he has been maintaining.
    2. His little smile when he says everything
    3. His look of anticipation when she asked, "Do you know what I would really like?" and he responds "Tell Me." In this moment, even before the cheeseburger that cements the deal, he wants to cook for her. (a major theme of the movie is that he doesn't enjoy/want to cook for anyone anymore)
    4. The eyes widening on "The cheeseburger."

    The eye thing is what made our first encounter with Dr Hannibal Lecter all the more sinister, seductive, and psychotic as he verbally exerted power and influence over Agent Starling.

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes! Good example of eyes being used in another way for a different genre. The eyes holds power. When you can start to make those connections, that’s when you know that you’ve started to really understand the concept for yourself. Good work 👍🏼

    How can this be used for live theatre

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  10 місяців тому

      1. The eyes still tell a story (Michael Caine example). See how he effected the actor on set, the same can happen on stage.
      2. Movement depending on the frame. More visibility in theater means more movement allowed, but you can judge how much by the size of the stage like the size of the screen.
      3. Let the other actor feel your opinion. Still applicable to stage as it is with film.

    2:44 actually the blink twice, once Ralph and once Annia.

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  10 місяців тому +1

      Very perceptive, I thought so too, but they are not actually blinks. When you slow it down frame by frame, his eyelids do lower, but they do not close (the slow motion shots I place in of the actors side by side indicate this). If these were blinks, then it would have been two blinks in the timeframe of the scene, but because the lids only moved, but no closure happened, it wasn’t a blink. I thought the same thing too at first! So still 0 blinks in the timeframe

    In the ministry of ungentlemanly warfare Henry Cavill blinks a LOT in the scene where he's introduced. It's actually bad and I wondered how the director didn't do something. I think it must be because the other actors were smoking cigars in the room.

    She blinks around 2:33 actually, during the line “I don’t think you can”. It’s good rhythm though

    • @TheActorsAcademy
      @TheActorsAcademy  10 місяців тому +2

      Funny enough I looked at that moment, but when you slow it down and go frame by frame, her eyelids move, but there is no actual blink. The moment where I slow the clip down with her and Ralph side by side you can see that it’s not an actual blink. If it was, it would’ve been 1 blink in that time frame, but because there wasn’t it’s still actually at 0
