My gosh man, you got a lot of bees. I've not seen a keeper with that many hives. Definitely got you a full time job there. It's awesome to see so many. 👏
Looking forward to the comparison between the two. I'll still put early supplement on regardless, but it will be very interesting to see if early supplements make a big difference on early brood.
Do you think these two different supplements that you're feeding them will make them build different hives or pollinate different are you feeding all of the them same supplements
In Wisconsin I would start putting energy patties with pollen sub. on them in February because any pollen was usually in the bottom deep away from the cluster. In a medium to strong hive the patties would be gone in a couple of weeks. Bees also tend to move up in a hive with 2 deeps so they wouldn't be near any pollen stored in the bottom by the bees. Feeding patties also helps keep the queen laying during a cold snap which can last a while. Love your videos.
three years later washout oh dear life is such a struggle. They look so healthy but today 1 of May. its all snow and washout. So nice to see them then and now, time, you will recover
Just amazingly strong hives. I made up some patties using your recipe on B.S. I added a little corn flower. I am curious to see how they are taking it.
I'm not a beekeeper, so maybe a dumb question. When you installed the protein packets in the hives a video or so back, I was wondering if there is a reason for keeping the bars in the paper packet, versus tearing an opening in the paper, or removing some of the paper before compressing the bar on the top of the frames. If some or all of the bar was exposed, they get to it quicker (I was assuming anyway). Just curious. I enjoy following your videos, and good luck this year.
@@aCanadianBeekeepersBlog hi my friend. Beehives didn't seem very healthy to me. much better hives means a healthier colony. In addition, there should be a distance of at least 50 cm from the ground to protect your bees from flood and rain.
They follow what you might call "light house" workers whose job it is to reorient the swarm in times of confusion to regroup. After a moment bees will slowly increase their speed in and out of the entrance to the hive. After they understand how to go from the queen to the entrance, you'll see bees at the entrance of the hive turning a specific direction but not "walking," fluttering their wings hard but not flying, and dancing around while their butt jiggles. If the queen is there and the workers are with her, she will signal to regroup with bee antennae magic and waggle dancing and they'll go on like they were there the whole time as long as it's a hospitable place. Other flying bees relay the message until everyone is on the same page.
Way those hives are looking id bet cash money your looking at record harvest this year ... get that needed rain going to be some kinda job staying ahead of it .. amazing.. ultra bee sound be shooting a commercial.. giving me bee fever btw lol ..
I just brought my hives home I wintered in Florida . I imagine shell shock to them as going from 80’s and 90’s to 40’s and 50’s . Any advice on how to comfort feed them to the change
Yup! Mine have been nuts on protein since I put them out. patties and dry open feed. They are also hitting the open sugar water. Today the weather sucked. Cold and windy and showers and they've still been out after the feed the moment the sun shines. I need to get back into them in the next couple days also but I'm kinda waiting on my bee suit. Finally ordered one this year. was supposed to be here on the 12th but I'm still waiting. Oh well if it don't come in the next couple days I'll just carry on as usual.
Hello, I'm a beekeeper in Portugal, it's amazing how you have such strong colonies, can help what do you do you to not let the population decrease, I have a big problem with the decrease breeding
If you feed some syrub to these Honeybees the end product will be a pure honey or a synthetic one ⁉️when comparing to forest or field honey ( Which is pure natural honey. ) ..please clarify my doubt. ..thanks....

Came across this, FYI for what it's worth. Threw some outdated " Fenegreek " powder in my composting barrel, and within hours it was alive with bees, they were wild Africanized, here in Arizona every feral colony are Africanized. I used to have a couple hundred hives in Kootneys of BC, no more, but it was crazy til they hauled every morsel away, it was fall time, a death time for pollen I'm sure.
I bought a little pollen substitute to open feed for the fun of it. The local bees couldn't hardly care less about it. They ignore it. They love my sugar water syrup that I make for them.
Hi there iv looked at your yard feeding patties n syrup thru upside down buckets please xplain how the buckets work thanks …im from australia n hav seen many ways to feed syrup n would like to ustand your method thanks
Fantastic, the most important worker in the world, the bees, they deserves all the help we can give.
Beautiful, thank you for helping them. They need all help they can get
Very few things are better than listening to the excitement of bees in the spring.
It's always good to see a group of Professionals doing what they do best. Bees are vital for the Ecology of the land, a precious resource.
Wow !! You must work as hard as those bees maintaining everything.
Beautiful sight. Hope you get a flow soon, so the bees can get into their natural rhythm.
What a beautiful start of the season, your hives are busting at the seams, great feeling!!!
Great energy

The opening of this video absolutely awesome.
This bees can produce anything but honey !
That is awesome! Without the bees, there will be no humans!
Looking forward to the comparison between the two. I'll still put early supplement on regardless, but it will be very interesting to see if early supplements make a big difference on early brood.
How to make Weak bees.
Better they have at least something to eat than starve
How to make "honey" from sugar ....
Do you think these two different supplements that you're feeding them will make them build different hives or pollinate different are you feeding all of the them same supplements
With that many hives , what would one expect in open feeding, they were very hungry little bees.
The suits at ultra bee must be smiling!!
That's a good start!!! Your hives are gorgeous!!!!

This is fascinating. Learning something new every day.
Amazing what you do man keep working
A good clean video, no potty mouth! lol It's amazing how fast they can go through the pollen sub when nature isn't providing it.
Amazing bees colony I love it👍

At my place we collect pollen from bee's and we give it back to them when they needed.
What is that protein at your video? Soy protein?
What do you think about that flow hive things..artificial honeycombs...is that good for bees?
Nice work ... I love bees
I think when you feed them, they remember you and don’t hassle you.
I love the work I see 👍👍👍
What food is in the perimeter bar?
Is the bucket sugar solution about 67%?

If it’s closed tight, it will not dry out.
The bees will tear where they need to and devour that area which keeps it from hardening

Hello, how do these types of foods make substitutes for pollen, and their demand is excellent. What are the ingredients?
Dead yeast,soy protein,milk protein.
Just curious... When you are moving hives around, splitting hives, etc. How do the bees know where their own queen/hive moved to?!?

Y'all should have natural pollen coming In, no feed necessary. Canadian bee has zero pollen from trees
Is this how you prepapre them for winter if they havent done so for whatever reason?
